"Gel magic! Giant Salamander!" Sally called out as she created a giant pink gelatinous creature that I had faced in the entrance exam.

"AAHH!" Asta and I charged before Sally could inject a giant syringe into the creature, the tip just puncturing as we sliced into it. My blade stuck as Asta's passed right through taking a leg with it.

"Magic Item! Dark Magic Serum!" The Giant Salamander took on a more purple tone and Gel Spread over the blade and my arm. I tried to rip it free but I was consumed only for Asta to cut me out as I fell onto the ground. But the gel swallowed him as my blade clatter on the ground.

"ASTA!" I screamed out as the spatial magic swallowed the invading mages just as Captain Charlotte, Sol and the others landed in the plaza. I was in shock... they had taken my brother... I couldn't... I couldn't... "I couldn't save him..."

I screamed out, power escaping my body flashing between gold and purple as I slammed my fists into the ground, the force of the impact blowing away anyone near me. And just as suddenly as the power had come my body and mind gave out.

Chapter 27: Sigh of Relieve

I awoke throwing myself out of a bed as several healing mages scrambled back. I held my chest and head as I took in a deep breath, gulping air like a fish out of water. When I stood up the orange haired of Mimosa stood in front of me. "Helen, breath, breath." She guided me back onto my bed, my eye wide as everything came back to me... meeting the Wizard King, the Ceremony, the banquet, then there was the invasion.

"Asta!" I stood up again as my tail swung behind me breaking the bed, sending broken wood and blankets across the chamber. "They took him!"

She gripped me by my biceps as she tried to hold me back. "Helen, you are in no shape to even think of going after him! We already lost Fuegoleon and Asta to them. We can't lose anymore!" I started to calm down as I looked into her eyes, tears falling down her cheeks. "The others are in talks about a rescue mission." She guided me to another bed and sat me down as a cloak of flowers grew around and over her shoulders. She turned my back to her as she presses her hands into my bare back, the dress I was wearing little more then rags now. I flinched as her magic knitted the large cut on my back shut. "I can't fully heal this wound, it's too deep and we had to cut off the charred skin and flesh. You'll be fine but the scar..." She gulped as she worked, closing the wound, my tail spasmed slightly as the mana crossed my spine.

"How bad?" I asked her as I gritted my teeth.

"It's jagged and uneven." She said as she finished with the wound picking up two mirrors, she handed me one as she stood back with the other, in the reflection I saw where my once unmarred skin had been, the scar started just behind and under the ball of my shoulder, cutting down across my shoulder blade where the burns scars started in a starburst, then down across my spin and then on the back of my hip. There was a slight S shape curve to the cut and jagged thorns where seared skin and tissue had to be cut away. I squinted at the reflected image for a second then sighed as I could see a possible image.

Deep in the back of my mind came a man's voice. 'Scars say that you lived, and that you are stronger, K... be proud.'

Mimosa handed me a woolen tunic as I pulled off the remains of the dress and pulled the heavy garment over my head. She took my arm over her shoulder and walked me out of the infirmary, "You should be dead..." Mimosa said suddenly. "I've seen you fight, and that strike should have cut you in half." The torn and burned remains of my Knight's robe tight in my grip. The blue fabric stained red with my blood. My grimoire held by my tail.

My mouth was dry as I swallowed. We walked in silence, a air of sadness between us. "What was that... power?" She asked.

"P-power?" I asked thinking back to what I could remember of the fight.

"You ran out of mana like you did in the dungeon... and a purple aura exploded around you..."

"I saw gold... energy." I said.

"There wasn't any gold Helen... you must have been so strained that you had a hallucination."

I just nodded. "Yeah... that... that's it."

We reached the outside of the building where a group of magic knights were discussing what to do next. Klaus rushed me. "Helen, you shouldn't be up! Not with your injury!" I grabbed his hand as I looked into his eyes.

"Klaus... I'm going after Asta." I took it of my shoulder as my tail gripped around my grimoire tighter.

"I'm going with you!" Noelle said as she stood by my side.

"No, it's too risky, and we don't have anyway to locate them." Captain Charlotte stood in front of me.

"You can't ugrh..." I pulled my arm away from Mimosa only to fall over. Charlotte caught me before I could hit the ground.

"Helen, we'll find him." She handed me to the royal cousins, "but we have to first..."

A gust of wind interrupted her as a immense magic power appeared. Standing before us was Wizard King Julius, being held up by him was Asta and in a time seal was one of the men that had launched the invasion. "Sorry, did I miss something?" He asked.

"Asta!" I yelled with Noelle and Mimosa. He giggled as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Sorry for the scare." He said as he settled on the ground.

Captain of the Silver Eagles approached the Wizard King. "Do we have a name to put to this enemy?"

"Yes, the Eye of the Midnight Sun, how is Fuegoleon?"

"He lost his arm, and is still unconscious, but notably a necklace he was known for wearing is missing." Nozel said, "Come, Solid, Nebra. we are going to patrol the city." His siblings were close on his heels.

"They appeared to have extinguished the Lion for now, but have reawakened the Eagle." Julius said as he turned to us. "I'm certain that Captain Fuegoleon will recover, and knowing him, he'll come back even stronger."

'Come back even... stronger?' I thought back to after the Dungeon. 'That is what happened to me...'

When the loud slamming of a door caught my attention I spotted Leopold, "Lady Helen!" He rushed over to me, as I noticed the bandages around his body.

"Leopold, I'm fine." I said as I leaned on Noelle for support. "And you really don't need to... hrngh." doubled over from a twang of pain. Two people caught me, I looked up at Sol and Leopold. "I'm fine."

"I suggest we all retire to our headquarters." Julius said.

"First." Leopold turned to Asta as he placed a finger on his forehead. "Asta, you are my rival. This seal marks my dedication to becoming the Wizard King, to protect those close to me. To be nothing but the best!"

Asta smiled at him, "Alright."

I laid on my stomach as a servant boy placed cool wet clothes on my back while Sol poked and prodded my scar. "It kind of looks like a rose flower on a thorny branch." She said as I looked at the great sword, the enchanted runes glittering in the candle light. "Congrats on the promotion to Second Class Junior Magic Knight."

Looked at her as she smiled. "Not just a little recruit anymore, a Diamond Mage, two Diamond Generals, a dungeon and a invasion under your belt." She smiled as she dismissed the servant boy. "We have the day off tomorrow, why don't I take you somewhere to do something with this." Her finger nail tapped the scar.

"Do what about it? It's a scar, it isn't like we can just replace the skin there." I said as I rolled over pulling down the tunic.

"You'll see." She gave me a hug and left the room, "Sleep well."

I rolled over in the bed and pulled the sheets over me. I looked at the letter paper on my desk. 'I'll write home tomorrow.'

And here you go.
