"Indeed Rebecca, Helen of the Blue Rose magic knights at your service, and I mean scold Asta for being... well... Asta." I said.
She laughed. "I don't think that will be necessary, he's loud but I don't mind."
I rolled my eyes. "You have no idea, but hey, if I can have a day making fun of him. I'll take it." She chuckled.
"I'm guessing you grew up in the..." Her eyes were drawn to something behind me. "Marco don't." I looked behind me at a boy who was clearly her little brother who was clearly about to grab my tail.
"Asta told you about that?" I asked as I wrapped my tail around my waist. She nodded.
"Come on you guys! I'm not a monkey gym!" Asta laughed as the children climbed him laughing.
I sighed, "Yeah, it is a day off, we should enjoy ourselves."
Chapter 30: Marie
That day we spent it playing with Rebecca and her little siblings as well as the children from the church. Around lunch the head nun came to collect the orphans for lunch. "Come children, you need to eat." The old lady said, a scar running over one eye smiled.
"Sister, is it alright if I help?" I asked.
She turned to me. "A Blue Rose Magic knight? Isn't your day off?" She asked me.
"I was raised in a church, much like these kids. It's my duty to help the less fortunate."
She gripped my shoulder, surprisingly strong for her age. "What's your name young lady? I am Sister Theresa."
"Helen." I walked into the church to the kitchen with her and started to bring bowls of food out to the children. The ones that we weren't playing with were excited to see a Magic knight.
"Calm down children." Sister Theresa scolded as we served the stew.
I smiled softly as I grabbed more bowls, "I trust you sent money back home, after all pay for the magic knights is this morning."
I nodded. "You seem to know a lot about the magic knights." I said to the kind old woman.
"I was once a member of the Crimson Lions." She said with a smile. "It's so rare we see such a kind magic knight here. Two even."
"You must be referring to my brother Asta." I said as we carried the bowls to the children. "He's a bit... loud but he is a kind boy."
We continued to make small talk until the lunch was done and I went to rejoin with Asta and Rebecca. Asta was playing with a girl in a pink frilly dress and short bobbed hair. "Again Asta!" She cheered.
"Oh, there you are Helen!" Asta called out as I looked to the side for a second catching, spotting a head of silver hair going around a corner.
'What is she doing here?' I asked myself. "Yeah I was helping out at the Church." I said as the girl ran up to me. I knelt down and picked her up. "And who is this cutie?"
"I'm Marie." She said happily as I laughed.
"You most certainly are." I set her down. "So lets go have some fun, we have some time before supper." I said as I went to play with the lot of them.
The hours passed by quickly. We played in the streets, I jumped from tree to tree with my tail getting apples for the kids. The sun was nearing the horizon as the we walked in town. "This was the best day ever!" The kids laughed as they played as Asta picked them up, a big smile on his face.
Behind us a clatter of bags and boxes made us turn around. Standing there was a man with light brown hair, purple shirt and tan pants tucked into leather boots, a Black Bulls rope on his shoulders. "Oh, Gauche, I didn't know you would be here." Asta said as he held a laughing Marie.
And Gauche exploded, "GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY SISTER!" He shouted as he stormed towards my brother, Marie getting between him and Asta.
"Big brother wait! Don't hurt Asta! I want to marry him."
This... made things even worse, I was watched completely bewildered as he drove Asta's face into the ground under his boot. Pushed him off of Asta. "What is your problem?!"
"My problem is that this mongrel has seduced my darling of a sister! No body has any right to marry her!" Blood started to drip from his nose. "Now move or be killed!"
'Oh dear fucking god...' I gulped as I realized how... disgusting this man was. "If you harm anyone here, I will bring you in."
"Brother stop it!" Marie protested.
I reached for my grimoire as Gauche did the same. "Move, you filthy sister stealing..."
"Gauche! That is enough!" Sister Theresa stepped into the situation.
"What do you want Hag! I was going to have a date with my sister!" When he turned to the nun I opened my Grimoire, only for a beam of light to cut across my wrist. I held the bleeding hand as Asta blew up.
"Gauche!" Asta's massive sword swung out of his grimoire blocking a second attack.
"Stop fighting!" Marie cried, tears falling from her face.
Gauche stood down at that. 'Damn... he should be far from her...' I growled as I looked at a floating mirror. 'Mirror magic? It has to be related to a form of light magic.'
Gauche glared at us. "I'll kill you two later." He picked up the presents and gave them to a Nun that came with Sister Theresa. "Make sure these get to my sister's room." He left down the street, people getting out of the way.
"Marie come here, you shouldn't be near Gauche." Theresa said. "Helen, come here child." her grimoire floated next to her as candles floated out from the page floating around the cut creating a aura that healed my wrist.
"Damn creep." I said under my breath. "Seeing what just happened... I'm going to keep an eye over my shoulder."
Sister Theresa nodded. "Come, let's go back to the church."
I turned back to Asta as Rebecca brushed the dirt off his face. "Let's go back to the restaurant for supper." She said, "Put all of this behind us."
I followed the family into the family restaurant, the sun going down as we ate, Marco teasing me for eating my greens. "They are good for you!" I retorted. "How do you think I got strong enough to become a magic Knight? I trained and ate my greens."
"Well, it was mostly potatoes." Asta said as Rebecca opened a window.
"It's a beautiful full moon tonight." She said and I froze for a second as I threw a glance at Asta.
The gesture he gave me told me it'll be fine. 'Yeah... it's just one night. What could possibly happen?'
"Sister, are you going to put the moves on Asta?" One of her little sisters asked, Luca.
"Luca!" She yelled with a blush, as a second woman yelled at the same time, water erupting from all the cups.
'Noelle... subtle... real subtle.' I thought as we finished up dinner.
"Please, you two stay the night, it's so late." Rebecca offered.
I looked to Asta and we both knew we had little choice. "We would love too." We said together.
Their home was fairly bare, little bit more then what we had in the church. I had used every excuse to not look at the sky on the way. Soon the children were sent to their rooms, I softly sing the little girls to sleep, slowly lulling them to the rest of sleep. I closed the door behind me. Stretching as I walked to the room that was given to me and Asta.
I lay down on the mattress as I tie a ribbon over my eyes. I slide my hand under the pillow into my grimoire gripping the hilt of the great sword. Slowly I start to doze off. Soon letting a light sleep take hold as I relaxed.
Silence, a display of colors dancing under my eyelids before a rectangle glowed through. Under the ribbon my eyed snapped open as I blacked the attack with the flat of the blade, I crashed through the wall, bare feet skidding through a cold, the air chilling to the touch. I heard a grunt next to me as Asta landed next to me. "Gauche!" He shouted. "Snow?"
I lifted the ribbon as I looked up at the Black Bull, Rebecca's house, the top floor wall was destroyed. The sky was covered in grey clouds. "What... the?"
"Asta! Helen!" Rebecca rushed out the door in her night clothes.
"Sorry about the wall. We'll try to end this bastard quickly." I said as I gripped my weapon.
"It's not that! Marco, Luca! Their missing!" She cried out in worry.
I dropped my guard as more villagers came out shouting for their children. I sniffed the air, and hundreds of scents all pointed in one direction. Out of town towards the mountains. "They went towards the mountains." I said as I sniffed again, "Marco, Luca and... Marie."
"I saw them." I looked at the freezing Royal Noelle.
"Elemental Enchantment: Ember Cloak." I pointed at her as her and many other villagers clothes all glowed with magic. "Listen up! The Black Bulls and I will recover the missing children and bring to justice who ever did this!" I shouted out.
"She's Blue Rose." I heard people say as Rebecca threw my my Broom.
"Noelle, stay here and ask the villagers, I want a head count of how many children are missing. Gauche, we will deal with you later, but I'm sure you want to save your sister." I looked at the Black Bull.
"Don't order me arou-"
"Adlie, she has you sister's best interests at heart." The crowd parted for the nuns. "Listen to her."
"Stay out of this Hag! You were urk!" Gauche took one step before I drove my fist into his stomach, he folded over as I picked him up by his robe.
"Don't you dare." I said coldly. "Children are at risk, and here you are. So concerned about only your sister. When everyone here is in pain." I brought him in close, "You are staying on this for as long as there are innocent lives at risk. If you run after saving your sister, I will gut you."
"You couldn't possibly understand." I lifted him up into the air and threw him aside he slammed into a wall blood dripping from his head.
"Noelle, dome. We can't rely on him."
She pointed her wand at him and a swirling dome of water encased him. "I'll keep him here." She said.
"Asta, Helen, you'll get them back?" Rebecca asked us as we got on the broom.
"We will." Sister Theresa said as she climbed on her own.
I looked to Noelle one last time, tossing her my communicator. "This will get you Captain Charlotte directly, or at least Sol." We took off racing after the children. 'We'll save them.'
Well what did you think, leave a review down below.
