Sorry for the extended delay on this chapter. I have just been busy with other projects and my life.
"Adlai, she has you sister's best interests at heart." The crowd parted for the nuns. "Listen to her."
"Stay out of this Hag! You were urk!" Gauche took one step before I drove my fist into his stomach, he folded over as I picked him up by his robe.
"Don't you dare." I said coldly. "Children are at risk, and here you are. So concerned about only your sister. When everyone here is in pain." I brought him in close, "You are staying on this for as long as there are innocent lives at risk. If you run after saving your sister, I will gut you."
"You couldn't possibly understand." I lifted him up into the air and threw him aside he slammed into a wall blood dripping from his head.
"Noelle, dome. We can't rely on him."
She pointed her wand at him and a swirling dome of water encased him. "I'll keep him here." She said.
"Asta, Helen, you'll get them back?" Rebecca asked us as we got on the broom.
"We will." Sister Theresa said as she climbed on her own.
I looked to Noelle one last time, tossing her my communicator. "This will get you Captain Charlotte directly, or at least Sol." We took off racing after the children. 'We'll save them.'
Chapter 31: Magic Thieves
Asta held onto me as we flew over the snow covered ground, the scent of the children getting stronger. The snow fell hard as I held my arm up to keep it out of my eyes. "Damn it... how did this happen?" It had to have taken a immense source of magic. "Four Magic knights and none of us noticed." 'Well Noelle did, but she was too freaked out and her mind somewhere else when it happened.'
"Don't blame your self Helen." Sister Theresa said. "This isn't your faults."
"What's important is saving those kids." Asta said as we flew towards the rocky hills.
'We have to get this done before the full moon comes out.' I gritted my teeth as my eyes scanned the ground. 'Where are they...' I spotted a cave mouth... and, "MARCO!" I tilted my broom down towards the red haired boy skidded to a stop next to him. "Come on... look at me." He was covered in bruises and scrapes as I held him, frostbite was crawling on his exposed skin, and his eyes were so un focused.
"It's like there's a spell on him." Theresa said as the old scared nun knelt next to me.
Asta took out his massive black sword and touched Marco with the cross guard. As soon as he did that the spell that was controlling him was broken. "H-Helen, A-Asta... Sister T-Theresa?" He looked at us, his voice unsteady from the cold.
"Flame Healing Magic: Soothing Holy Light." Sister Theresa cast a spell from her Grimoire candles hanging in the air around the boy, the wounds fading away in the soft light.
"Marco, stay here with Sister Theresa, we'll save the others." Asta took of his robe and gave it to him wrapping it around his shoulders. "Be brave. for your sisters and friends."
"Y-yeah!" Marco nodded.
Asta and I got back on my broom, the smell of the children were strong in the cave. "We'll show these criminals that you can't harm the people we swore to protect." We flew through the tunnels skidding along walls as I followed the scent.
We came around a corner and there was living snowmen between us and the children. Instantly both of us jumped off the broom, My grimoire floated in front of me, the handle to my great sword sticking out of the pages. Asta grabbed his smaller blade, and lunged slashing through a target as I grabbed my sword and spun around in the air, the spiraling flames evaporating the snow creations. I leaped over Asta and destroyed a snow man to his left while he plowed through one as we burst into the main chamber.
"Magic knights? Already!" A large man with glasses called out. "Neige deal with them!" We charged into the main chamber, all the children on the ground, Mary in the grip of a lanky man in white clothes with white hair. Neige I would guess.
I spotted a large machine with a chair connected to it, and several children on the ground, eyes blank and I couldn't sense any mana from them. "R-right brother." Neige threw Mary down and his grimoire flew up to him.
"Elemental Enchantment: Lightning Path!" I burst forward, in a thunderous clap of lightning I was in the air above Naige, "ELEMENTAL ENCHANTMENT: TORNADO DRAGON TALON!" A spiral of flames erupted from my leg and and slammed into the side of Neige's head, he was blasted into the far wall where he crumpled to the ground. I landed with the children behind me, sword at the ready.
"A Blue Rose magic knight? Her magic power... is she the Captain... no that isn't her!" Neige's brother stepped back, only for Asta to lunge at him with his weapon, the large man stumbled back narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Asta! Helen!" Sister Theresa ran into the chamber behind us. "Free the children from the spell." Asta quickly ran through the children tapping them with the hilt of his weapon breaking the spell. The children ran to the nun.
"Baro..." Neige said as he rolled over on the ground, blood coating part of his face.
Baro looked at the machine then to us. "What did you do?" I growled, he seemed to shrink under my death glare, but he started to laugh as he hit a button on the metal surface behind him.
"We were extracting their magic! The Snot nosed brats didn't need it!" He laughed. "And you magic knight must brag all the time about protecting the innocent, and yet you brought a boy who has so little magic power into battle!"
I looked at the tank next to Baro. 'That must be filed with Magic...' "Sister Theresa. Get the children out of here." I held my great sword with one hand as I brought it over my shoulder and threw it with all my might, the flames went out as soon as it left my hands, the metal blade shattered the glassas the weapon stuck into the stone behind him.
"NO! The magic we gathered!" Baro threw a large shot of mud at me, I swiped my had to the side, a burst of wind deflected it away.
"You have a Blue Rose Magic knight and a Black Bull pissed at you. Those children may never use magic again because of you." I clenched my fists. "We have full authority to kill anyone that makes them an enemy of our Kingdom."
"Helen! Asta! To think I get to see you two so soon again!" My head snapped to the side as I dashed to the side to avoid pink slime. Sally of the Eye of the Midnight sun was here. "Baro, you gave me something much more important then that magic power!"
'Tsk... why is it them?' "Asta, you take Baro, I'll handle Sally." I clenched my fists as lightning and flames coated them.
Her mad eyes seemed to eat at me as I circled to the right. "The Master has been very interested in meeting you Helen. Are you one of the Children of the Six?"
'Children of the Six?' I asked my self as I changed stance as we stopped. "I'm a Blue Rose Magic Knight. A defender of the Clover Kingdom." My tail flicked behind me.
"They were lost so long ago, to think I could study one like you. Slime Creation Magic: Giant Salamander!" From her hand erupted a mass of pink slime, I went to punch it but the flames went out when my hand collided with it, the substance was closer to water the the other times I had been faced with this spell. Soon I was swallowed by the slime and I floated to the surface unable to break free as I tugged my arms, the substance becoming rock hard as I fought it. There was surge of slime, then a weight fell in my waist, dripping with the pink gunk Sally ran her hands up and down my body. "Your muscles are refined to perfection!" She leant over me and licked my neck.
In a kneejerk reaction I thrashed my head to the side, trying to hit her with it. She leaned back and grabbed my face as more slime flowed from her palm. "Now, now, don't you want to help me? I just want to understand you through science." She bent back down and bit into my neck, drawing blood with her teeth. She all but leaped off of me in excitement! "YOU DEFINATNLY AREN'T HUMAN! NOT AT ALL! AND YOU DON'T TASTE LIKE THE OTHERS SO YOU ARE A PUREBLOOD!"
"GET AWAY FROM HER!" Asta leaped over us slamming his two blades down at Sally, she used slime as a shield, the over head attack throwing her towards Bora. I followed through the slime salamander freeing me. I landed on my feet clasping a hand over the bite wound, a heat glowing under my palm as I cauterized the wound. "Helen is human, and you can't say anything like that!"
"No, you misunderstand me! Helen here is a Pureblood, something that hasn't been seen in eight hundred years!" Sally all but danced. "Only seven have ever been known to exist! And she can use magic! This is unforeseen by any of the histories!"
"What is she talking about?" Sister Theresa stood with the children, guiding them out of the cave.
"Helen, if you come with me, my Master can explain everything to you! He would be so pleased to have meet a Pureblood " Sally extended a hand to me. "You can understand why we are fighting, because were were your people's allies and family. We can learn so much from each other."
I stayed quiet for a second. "Helen?" Asta asked me as I looked at her hand. She was offering everything I had ever wanted... to know who I was, what I was... I looked back at Asta. "Helen, you already know who you are, your my human sister. Your a magic knight. Do you really want the answers from the bad guys?!"
I clenched my fist. "Full Body Elemental Enchantment: Flame Rage Goddess." My entire body turned into raging crimson flames as I lunged at Baro with Asta by my side. His blade slammed solidly into his gut as my flaming fist scorched most of his face, the glasses he was wearing shattered before he hit the ground and the two of us turned on Sally.
I put my hands together and fired a stream of concentrated flames at her burning away a shield of slime. Asta ran through the smoke slashing through it allowing me to solidly attack her. Sally was thrown back part of her robes on fire. Soot covered her face as she barely dodged out of the way of Asta's twin swords, shattering the metal control boards.
I dropped out of the enchanted form, magic drained far too quickly. I leaped up over Asta running along the wall grabbing the hilt of my great sword that was still lodged in the wall, ripping the now flaming steel blade from the stone. I slashed with a powerful over head strike down on her. I burned through the back of her robe as she rolled away on the ground. I twisted my grip changing the direction of the swing as the raging flames melted through the ground, a spray of melted stone hit her dead on smoking as she scrambled back patting out the flames. I pulled a arm back, "Elemental Enchantment: Geyser!" Steaming boiling water exploded from my had hitting her dead on causing her to scream in pain as the scalding water burned away the top layers of her skin in large bloody blisters.
'Torture her... make her suffer...' I stopped for a second as a small voice in the back of my head came through clearly. It was... distinctly familiar.
'No... I'm better then that.' I clenched my teeth as I lowered my sword. This fight was over.
An explosion of light took me off my feet and slammed me back first into the wall. I landed on my hands and knees as I looked up, braided white hair with gold ornamentation, gold eyes, blue robes under a white over robe with red and gold trimmings. But his face had scarlet tattoos that framed his eyes. In his arms he held the wounded Sally.
"My comrade Sally... how could they..." He said as golden light shrouded them. "Light Healing Magic: Healing ray of Hope."
"Master... she is a Pureblood... they weren't all gone as you feared... there is still hope. You can show her. I know you can." She rambled as his surprised eyes turned to me.
"A Pureblood. I never would have guessed that is what you were." He looked me up and down... then to Asta. "Those Grimoires... how is it that they resurfaced now, and to a Pureblood and a filthy Human?"
Hello there, let me know what you think of this chapter.
