I got my feet under me and kicked away over to the ruined fountain. "Damn it Abigail." He grunted as I looked over, standing in the doorway was a woman in a Green Praying Mantis Robe, her grimoire glowing a brass light as she held up a weapon consisting a wooden grip, steel barrel and brass gears, and a hammer drawn back with her thumb, a finger on a trigger like a crossbows'. She wore green tights tucked into leather boots that went up to her knees, as she stepped forwards her hard soles clicked on the ground. Her white blouse was buttoned down letting out a small amount of her bust but on her stomach she wore a short corset that was drawn tight. Her long dark green hair was tied back in a bun as her glasses glinted with the light at her back.

"Barnabas, we are taking you in." She glared as him. "Blue Rose knight, can you fight?"

"Yes." I said as let the pages in my grimoire shift.

"Good." She said, her calculating gaze fixed on Barnabas.

Chapter 37: The Clockwork Knight

Lightning crackled in my hands as the Green Mantis knight kept her weapon leveled at Barnabas. "I knew you were low, but to kill so recklessly. I'll make sure you pay for your crimes." Abigail said walking past the doorway, her three leaf clover grimoire covered in gears and clock faces. I looked back at Barnabas, his grimoire glowed cyan, but...

'A clover, but I was certain his a a similar symbol to mine.' I frowned as I reached into my grimoire as a sword handle raised out. I drew the great sword to the full length. Flames burning in a cyclone as I held it in one hand.

I could watch as the sweat dripped down the man's brow. His eyes flicked around the room. "Hrrng. You can't be serious Abigail."

The woman remained silent. I could only hear a faint ticking.

Then the room exploded with motion. Barnabas charged me, cyan ki spiraling around his arm. I swung my sword down on his arm, burning blade cutting down to the bone. Blood splattered on my face as the world around me shifted. I was in a cave as I spun around only for my neck to be grabbed and I'm slammed into the ground. 'Damn it, my normal senses and magic detection is useless against him. This is pure illusion magic, unlike Nebra's mist illusion magic. And I can't figure out that ki sensing that Yami taught Asta quite yet.' I twisted on the ground and kicked wildly. My foot sank through layers of torn cloth as the illusion dispersed.

Abigail grabbed me by my robe and hauled me to my feet. She stepped forward with her weapon and there was a discharge of magic smoke from the item. "Clock Work Magic: Shatter Shot." It hit him, his illusion shattering in glass like shards. She passed a hand over her grimoire grabbing another weapon, this one had a larger barrel flared out at the end. The brass gears clicked as the held to weapon with two hands. "Clock Work Magic: Sealing Net." She pulled the trigger and a next blasted out of the weapon, but she wasn't aiming for him.

It wrapped around his grimoire and few back to her. "I can't believe you would stoop to this level." Abigail sighed as she replaced the weapon in her hand for a longer one. Brass bands held a steel barrel to a wooden body.

"Like you would understand Cellia." He snarled, ki sparking around his robust frame.

'Cellia... is she related to Luna?' I thought as I raised my blade ready to fight.

He gathered energy in his hand and fired a beam at us. I dodged to the side as Abigail lunged the other way. Barnabas went after her, twisting the end of her weapon away from him. I hit the ground on my feet and dashed forwards, blade raised and brought it down on his right arm as his left hand closed on his grimoire. In a flash of fire and sparks his arm fell to the hardwood floor, charred flesh keeping blood from spraying out.

"Ultimate Illusion Magic: Battle Ground of the Devil!" He said with a smirk as the city was engulfed in flames. Buildings ruined, and children screaming, The house we were in was gone. And standing over me and Abigail was a massive horned beast, with jagged teeth that dripped blood, it reached for us, but before anything happened the city was back to normal.

Abigail just sighed as she put her weapon away. "He ran, we won't find him now. He's too high on alert." She adjusted her clothes and pushed her glasses up. "Junior Magic Knight First Class, Abigail Cellia of the Green Praying Mantis'."

"Intermediate Magic Knight Second Class, Helen of Hage Village. Blue Rose Knights." I said back to her, her sharp brass eyes seemed to examine me on a almost intimate level.

"Very well. I will secure the building, I've already sent for a member of my squad to aid in the quarantine of the building." She said as her eyes shifted around the room." I suggest you give your report to your Captain, you don't want to be here when Captain Jack arrives."

"Y-yes ma-am."

"So, he can use ki like you, but he doesn't need to exhaust his magic first." Captain Charlotte knitted her fingers together after Sol and I reported back to her.

"It could just be one of his illusion, but at the start of the fight, his grimoire didn't have a Clover on it." I said. "It was similar to my own, I think."

"Hmmm... was it a deliberate ploy to throw you off, or was he slipping from his injuries and allowed something to show even for a few seconds?" The captain rested her head on her hands.

"Char, you aren't..." Sol started.

"Call me Captain. And I'll bring this up with Julius, there may be a third party outside the Midnight sun at play and Barnabas was playing all three side to exponentially increase his own wealth." Captain Charlotte stood up and walked around her desk. "This is... unsettling."

Barnabas clutched at the charred flesh of where his arm used to be. "Damn bitch... her power is growing too fast. Now with the Magic Knights and Aaron sending the others after me, I need to find the Midnight sun. I'm lucky it was Abigail, and not Judas or Lemos who found me..." He stumbled through a throng of trees while his one arm scraped around in a bag. "Come in, Midnight Sun, tell Licht I..."

"No need, I'm already here." The voice of Licht echoed out behind the rotund man. "You served your purpose." Golden light blinding the wounded man.

"Wait... Mana Seal... Release." Barnabas glowed briefly with cyan energy.

"Wait... you are..." Licht was taken aback.

"A Saiyan hybrid. Yes, I am one of the Children Six." Barnabas smiled.

Sorry about the delay. I've been busy.
