"Why the potential to be a Jedi" said Qui-Gon Sam started laughing "me as a Jedi?" said Sam "yes why is that so far fetched?" said Qui-Gon. They had finished eating and Sam was dumping her tray. Qui-Gon had dumped his already and was waiting for her. Sam looked around her "well I guess it really isn't is it" said Sam. "you of course are given the option to refuse, Leia did because of too many prior commitments" said Qui-Gon

"But Luke didn't?" said Sam "no, he's quite good at being one, as is his father" said Qui- Gon. "So what exactly does a Jedi do?" said Sam "well all sorts of things, like helping the rebellion succeed" said Qui -Gon "cause the Sith are your sworn enemies?" said Sam.

Qui-Gon froze. "Where did you hear that?" said Qui-Gon "from Luke he said the guy who attacked us was one, why?" said Sam. Qui-Gon drew a deep breath and he looked very worried about something. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you," said Sam "relax child you did not, you simply do not have the full picture" said Qui-Gon "so what is the full picture?" said Sam

"Well in all honesty it started a long time ago but on a more recent scale" said Qui-Gon "the emperor, a man known formally as the chancellor Palpatine, after declaring himself emperor, created the Sith temple and promptly waged war on the Jedi" said Qui- gon "we lost most of our numbers in those first few months as well as our families" said Qui-Gon.

The man looked incredibly sad to Sam. She reached out and touched his arm, in an effort to reassure him. After a few moments he patted her small hand. "Its all right my dear some memories are best left as memories" said Qui-Gon. "He has systematically tried to eliminate our order and the rebellion we helped found," said Qui-Gon.

He said the last proudly, and for some reason it made Sam smile. "We are few, but even a small stone can change the tide" said Qui-Gon. Sam frowned an odd analogy but she got the gist of it. "So Luke said it was just a blood test," said Sam. She wanted to get off the subject of families and loss before it made her burst into tears.

" That is part of it yes but there are more tests I'd like to perform if I may?" said Qui-Gon "sure knock yourself out," said Sam. They entered a strange room and he walked over to what looked like a desk. There was a strange cushion in the center of the floor it was surrounded by smaller ones. Was this some sort of class?

"Yes indeed it is, I teach some of the basic force techniques to our younglings" said Qui- Gon. "Younglings?" said Sam "our children" said Qui-Gon "you have kids?" said Sam "no not I personally though some have perhaps adopted me in that role" said Qui-Gon. "What about their own parents?" said Sam

"Many of them are orphans, some barely escaped the temple with their lives" said Qui- Gon "oh I'm sorry, but I'm glad they made it to somewhere safe" said Sam "yes well as safe as can be when most of the galaxy is hunting you" said Qui-Gon. He had gained that sad look again so Sam distracted him again. "What's that?" said Sam. Indicating the strange device he had picked up off the desk like piece of furniture.

"This my dear is called a hypo, it takes blood samples" said Qui-Gon "would you please hold out your arm" said Qui-Gon. Sam did so and watched him press one end to it. There was a quick sharp pain and it was all over. "There we go, good girl didn't even flinch," said Qui-Gon. He put the sample tube into a small screen like device and waited.

In a few minutes he was frowning at the screen. "That can't be right" he murmured softly "why what's wrong?" said Sam. Suddenly she was worried she had some weird disease or something. "Nothing to worry about my dear, just an unusual reading that's all" said Qui- Gon. "Lets move on to the other stuff I talked about," said Qui-Gon.

Sam shrugged; she wasn't really reassured by his words but went along with it anyways. "Now this one is simple really all you have to do is guess what's on the screen" said Qui- Gon. "Ah ok" said Sam. "just relax and concentrate on what I'm holding in my hands" said Qui-Gon. "Ok" said Sam. She closed her eyes and relaxed, doing exactly what he asked her to.

In her minds eye she saw the small screen and the images on it. "A cup, a tree, some sort of horse, a ship, a robot and thirty two credits and a pink stuffed bear?" said Sam "ok that's enough" said Qui-Gon. The first five had been unerringly accurate though he had no idea what a horse was. But the other two weren't on the screen. "Where did you sense the other two items?" said Qui-Gon.

Sam shrugged "I don't know it looks like they're surrounded by cloth" said Sam. Qui- Gon blinked in surprise and reached into his pockets. He pulled out thirty-two credits and his daughters stuffed ewok key fob. He started to laugh; she had somehow picked up what was in his pockets. "So how'd I do?" said Sam

"Splendid my dear just wonderful" said Qui-Gon "one last thing, can you tell me what the person was last feeling that held this?" said Qui-Gon. He tossed an object off his desk at her. Sam caught it and turned it over in her hands. It looked like a strange flashlight. She closed her eyes and concentrated just like before.

Images flooded her mind. "It was hot where they were and two suns beat down on them, the person was running. She was scared and she was hiding something," said Sam. Qui gon nodded, the girl was right, he had been hiding something. Something that was very important, the Jedi younglings.

"Okay we're through," said Qui-Gon. " So how did I do?" said Sam. The man smiled at her. "Great, now if you like you may go see Luke, I believe they will be letting him out some time soon," said Qui-Gon. He obviously wanted Sam gone for some reason. Perhaps she had failed miserably and he didn't want to say it in front of her. "Okay sure, I guess I'll catch you later then," said Sam. She walked out of the room feeling strange. She kept walking and headed for the med ward. Somehow she remembered the way again. Odd that she seemed to be finding her way around this place much easier. When she got there Luke was complaining to one of the doctors.

"One moment Mr. Skywalker" said the doctor. Sam walked into the room and peered into the exam area. Luke spotted her and smiled. One of the droid doctors flew past her muttering about stubbornness being a family trait. Sam snickered at the retreating doctor. "So how are you doing?" said Sam "the doctor is planning on releasing me today" said Luke

"That's great most everyone I know around here is gone today," said Sam "lonely are you?" said Luke. Sam sat on the strange chair next to his bed "yeah I guess I am" said Sam "so what have you been up to?" said Luke. "Nothing much just hanging out with Han and Qui-Gon" said Sam "you've met Qui-Gon?" said Luke "yep just took some sort of tests" said Sam

"You sound disappointed" said Luke "yeah, I think I failed um, but that's okay I can always make a living as a card shark" said Sam. Luke laughed "just what has Han been letting you get away with?" said Luke "oh not much but I did milk his friend Lando out of all this" said Sam. She pulled the crystals from her pockets to show Luke.

Luke started laughing so hard tears formed in his eyes. "Oh my lord that looks like his entire pay slip for his last delivery," said Luke. "Really about how much is it worth?" said Sam "oh geez, oh man I bet he's livid, you have about two thousand credits there give or take" said Luke "wow really? No wonder he was bent" said Sam

"And here I was worried about Han being a bad influence" said Luke. Sam gave him a look of mock indignation. "I'm sure you didn't do too horribly on those tests, I'll check on them if you like" said Luke "eh its okay, I'm planning on going home anyways" said Sam

"Are you sure I can't talk you into staying?" said Luke. Sam smiled at him "well you better hurry then you only have a few days" said Sam. She smiled at him with a flirtatious look in her eyes. "All right Skywalker your free to go" said the droid doctor.

Luke hoped off the table "thank the force, this place was driving me stir crazy" said Luke. Sam laughed at him then stopped suddenly. Luke was stripping off his shirt like covering. He apparently had no problem with modesty. He presented his bare ass to her and grabbed his pants. He pulled on his pants and grabbed his top while Sam stared open mouthed.

"Enjoying the view?" he said. Sam turned bright red and stammered an apology. He still had his shirt off and he leaned over to touch her jaw. Turning her face towards him he closed his mouth on hers. "What are you doing?" she said, "getting started," he murmured. Then he pulled the top in his hands over his head and down to his waist.
