Kim had now kept Jay and Hailey's relationship a secret from a couple of weeks. When the couple were at work, neither of them acted any differently with each other than they had before, but Kim noticed how, if one of them left Molly's, the other would soon follow or neither of them would be there in the first place. This had been something they had done before they had been together as a couple, except now Kim knew their relationship was different. Kim could only talk about it with Kevin and the two of them were waiting to see how long it would take for Jay and Hailey to admit to their relationship, but it didn't seem as if that was going to happen any time soon. The two detectives were very private, in all parts of their lives, including their relationship. They were the most private members of the unit.

True to form, Adam was still concerned about Hailey's mystery boyfriend, something which Jay and Hailey found secretly amusing. As far as they were concerned, the only person in the unit who knew was Kevin. Kim watched Hailey and Jay when Adam mentioned the mystery guy and she could see the smiles and looks they shared. She could see that they were happy together and they deserved it and, as far as she was concerned, keeping their relationship private was very true to their characters. Kim had so many questions about their relationship, but she knew that it wasn't her place to ask, unlike her husband. She was willing to wait until Jay and Hailey were ready.

It was the day of a raid and, besides Kim, the whole unit was involved. Jay was leading the raid. In his full tactical gear, he found Hailey in the locker room. His nerves were clear by how his arms were moving. Hailey knew what was wrong. The last time he had let a raid had been during his time as a Ranger. He had never done it as a police officer and she knew that was why he had taken some anti-anxiety medication in the morning. Hailey rested her hands on Jay's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "Jay, look at me. You can do this, ok? I'll be right there with you, partner."

Jay smiled and nodded. "Thanks, partner. I owe you one." He chuckled slightly and he and Hailey shared one of their looks, before Jay walked away, preparing himself for the raid. He was glad that Hailey was going to be there. She always had his back. She was his partner.

A couple of minutes later, Jay walked into the main tactical room and the unit was ready, besides Kim who was staying behind to feed information into their earpieces. With his hands on the top of his vest, he asked, "We all ready?" Hailey, Kevin and Adam nodded, so Jay nodded in response and said, in a tight voice, "Let's go." He picked up his riffle and his eyes connected with Hailey's for a second, before he led them about of the room.

The raid was a disaster. The suspects had been waiting for them, with heavy weapons and Jay had led the raid, with the unit and SWAT. All of the suspects were now dead, but Hailey and Adam had both been shot. Hailey had only been shot in the arm, but the ambulance was on its way and Jay was still inside, talking to the SWAT leader. Adam was on the phone to Kim, assuring her that he was alright. He didn't want her to worry, especially now that she was pregnant.

The ambulance arrived and took Hailey and Adam to Chicago Med before Jay was outside, so Hailey texted him. She knew that he knew that she was fine; he had seen her after she had been shot, but she also knew that Jay would want to see her in person. "Upton, how are you doing?" Adam asked he was walking into the curtain area where his partner was. Even though he knew that Hailey and Jay were best friends, he and Hailey were still partners. "I'm sorry you got shot. Are you OK?"

Hailey looked up at Adam and frowned. "Adam, I'm fine, really. The bullet went right through. There's no need to worry, honestly." She had expected Jay to worry, but to Adam. She added a small smile as she added, "We're partners, and we go where the other does. That's the deal."

"It wouldn't have happened if you were still partnered with Jay."

Titling her head, Hailey bit back a laugh. "No, it could've done. Jay's a lot of things, but he isn't perfect, Adam." She smiled and gave Adam a friendly hug. "Go home to Kim, Adam."

Adam stood up and nodded. "Yeah, I will. Is your guy coming to pick you up?" Hailey just nodded, so Adam decided to wait, out of sight, to see Hailey's mystery guy. If he was coming to pick Hailey up from the hospital, Adam wanted to see him. This guy and Hailey had been together for months, after all.

A couple of minutes later, Jay's quick walk was seen and his walk broke into a quick jog as he went over to Hailey. Adam frowned, confused. He could see how Jay and Hailey's eyes met. "Hailey!" Jay called as he reached her and Adam could hear the panic in his voice. It made sense. Jay was their Sergeant, Hailey's ex-partner and her best friend. Even Adam can tell Jay was stressed, because of how his jaw was clenched. Without thinking, Jay pulled Hailey into a hug, then pulled away and ran his finger along her cheek in a very intimate way. The love in his eyes were clear.

Taking hold of the hand that was on her face, Hailey gave Jay a small smile and assured him, in a gentle voice, "Jay, I'm okay, really. It went right through." She paused and her blue eyes looked into Jay's green eyes, before she asked, gently, "Are you ok? I can see your anxiety."

Jay sighed and ran his free hand through his hair before he shook his head again. "I'm fine. I mean, I'll need some more medication when I get back, but I'm fine. I'm so glad you're okay, Hailey. I saw you get shot."

"I'm good, partner." Hailey tilted her head and asked, with a coy smile on her face, "Do you want me to show you how okay I am?" Her lips met Jay's and they kissed passionately, with Hailey wrapping her arms around Jay's neck. It was the most PDA they had ever engaged in, because they believed that they were alone, but Adam had seen it. He looked away. Jay and Hailey. Jay and Hailey? They were friends, weren't they? When did that happen? They had been partners for years. Hailey was cheating on her mystery guy because she was having a fling with Jay?

As soon as Adam found Kim and Kevin at Molly's, he cornered them and told them they needed to talk. He had just found out something amazing! Unbelievable! His wife and best friend didn't seem to be too concerned, but they followed him. Adam guessed that Jay and Hailey wouldn't be coming to Molly's, guessing they might be otherwise engaged, together. Hailey and Jay were having a fling!

"I can't believe this! I've just seen them together. I can't get over it. Okay, here goes: Jay and Hailey are together! They're having a fling or whatever, but the point is, they're together."

There was a silence and Kim and Kevin looked at each other, before they both burst of laughing. Kim couldn't believe that Adam had finally seen the relationship that had been right under their noses. Grinning, Kevin remarked, "Oh wow, Ruze, took you long enough!"

Bewildered, Adam asked, "What? You guys knew? If you knew, why didn't you tell me? When did you find out? This is unbelievable! Jay and Hailey! Jay and Hailey are doing it!"

Kim laughed and smiled at her husband, before she told him, "Adam, Kevin found out first. He worked it out because they both said they were spending the long weekend in Wisconsin and I found out when I accidently read a text from Jay to Hailey."

Still very confused, Adam asked, "How long has this been going on? And what about Hailey's mystery guy?"

Kevin chuckled and shook his head. "Dude, Jay is Hailey's mystery guy. Kim saw Jay's text and he called himself the mystery guy. It's been Jay all along. Since your wedding."

"So, are they just fooling around or is this serious?"

His wife shook her head, smiling. "I don't know, Adam, but I have so many questions. They know Kevin knows, but we have to pretend we don't know, because they're really private about it. They're keeping it on the D.L." She gave her husband a serious look.

"This is insane! I can't believe Jay and Hailey are having a fling. I can't believe they hooked up at our wedding, Kim!"

The three of them returned to their table and Adam could talk about nothing else. He couldn't get over the fact that Jay and Hailey were together. Together. Jay was Hailey's mystery guy. He had spent months wondering about Hailey's mystery boyfriend and, for the whole time, it had been Jay.

After leaving the hospital, Hailey and Jay returned to Hailey's house, where they had both had showers. Jay didn't want to leave the house; his anxiety levels were high and Hailey had been shot and her arm was sore, but they knew that they needed to, for the sake of the morale of their team, so they made their way to Molly's. Kevin, Kim and Adam were huddled around a table.

Smiling, Hailey walked over to them and said, "Hey, guys." She paused, looking at the look on their faces. All three of them looked between her and Jay. She glanced at Jay. Adam knew and she was sure that Kim did, too, by the smile on her face. Still with a smile on her face, she asked, "What's going on?"

Adam looked away, looking suddenly very embarrassed and Jay pressed his lips together, hiding his smirk. Kim was the one to speak. "Jay, Hailey, we know you guys are together. I accidently read a text of yours, Hailey, and Adam saw you guys at the hospital." She paused, before she added, with a smile, "And, for the record, I think it's great and I wasn't surprised. You guys are great together."

"I second that." Kevin added.

Jay cleared his throat, suddenly feeling very awkward. He forced a smile and just said, in a tight voice, "Thanks, guys."

Kim pulled Hailey into a hug. "I can't believe this. You and Jay! Together since our wedding! I want to know all the details. Who made the first move?"

Glancing at Jay, Hailey just replied, with a small smile, "It was your wedding and we've been seeing each other ever since."

Adam turned to face Jay and asked, "So, are you two friends with benefits, or what? I asked Kim and Kev and they said they don't know. If you two are just messing around, we can pretend as if this isn't happening. If it's like a fling."

There was a silence and Jay and Hailey shared one of their silent looks, before Jay put his arm around Hailey's shoulder and smiled. "I'm in love with Hailey." The look on their faces were so funny and both he and Hailey shared to laugh, before Jay said, "Have a good night, guys. See you tomorrow."
