Chapter One

Harry Potter stared at the expansive blue skies above. He felt cold and the strong wind was not helping. Then, he jolted up when realization came to him on what he had done.

'Still alive, I see…' Harry looked around and saw that he was sitting near the peak of a snow capped mountain. In the distance, on an island in the middle of a lake, he saw a city unlike anything he had seen before.

'I was right about the Veil.'

He walked through the Veil of Death, an ancient stone arch that was said to kill anyone who was sent through it. But, Harry was not just anyone. He was the Master of Death who had lived for more than 400 years. Now, he found himself in a completely different world. Another galaxy or a parallel universe, he was not sure.

He inhaled deeply and enjoyed the coolness of the air in his lungs. Then, he began examining his body. Nothing seemed to be out of place. The objects that he carried with him were undamaged as far as he could tell. He restored the shrunken trunk that was strapped on his belt to its actual size and checked the state of his possessions. He was most concerned about organic samples of magical plants and animals that were in stasis jars. Thankfully, everything seemed undamaged.

Closing his eyes, he extended his senses to feel the magic around him. It felt different but not anything too unfamiliar. Where the magic that he had known was untamed, the magic in this new world was more defined. It felt less dense but more expansive. It seemed older somehow.

He stretched his arms out and the magic responded to his call as an invisible force erupted to push out everything in front of him. Using magic wandlessly had become natural for him to the extent that he would only use a wand for very complicated spells. Next, he pointed his finger and transfigured the snow around him into an ice sculpture of a griffin ready to take flight. Now, he was convinced that the magic in this world will answer his calling. He undid his spell transforming the sculpture back to snow.

He felt that he was ready to begin his new life in this world. After his great-grandchildren had passed away, he was living in complete isolation back on Earth. He spent his life guarding the secrets of the Hallows. Everyone assumed that he had retained his youth by drinking the Elixir of Life, but he had never drank a dose of the stuff. Eventually, he decided to go through the Veil of Death for a chance of a new beginning and that was exactly what he got.

He made himself invisible and flew towards the only city on sight. It was even more amazing as he got closer to it. Countless of flying shuttles were going in and out of the city and he could see some big flying ships docked on some kind of airport. Harry landed somewhere near the edge of the city deciding that he wanted to explore it on foot.

It was a big surprise when he saw that most of the inhabitants were human. Honestly, he expected never to see another human in his life. Harry decided he did not just go to a faraway world, but a parallel universe that shared some things with the other universe. He used passive Legilimency on the people that he came across with picking up pieces of information and the language here and there.

The current year was 3573 ATC (83 BBY). The common language was the Galactic Basic. Harry had learned languages through Legilimency before so it was not something that strange for him.

Apparently, he was in a city called Aldera, capital of Alderaan, go figure. The planet was a member of the Galactic Republic, a galaxy spanning government with 15 million systems under in control. That gave Harry and reason for pause. He could not imagine how a government that big could even function. Alderaan was one of the most influential members in the Republic due to its wealth, culture, and status of being one of the founding members of the Republic some 25,000 year ago.

Alderaanian viewed themselves as the champion of democracy. They were a very idealistic people and their architecture reflected their ideals. Education was free to all citizens of Alderaan and they also offer limited full scholarships to foreigners. It was a center of art and culture in the Republic. The population was just over 2 billion as the majority of the planet was designated as natural reserves.

It did not take long for Harry to settle in the city. First, he went to an administrative building to get himself some legal identification. With some liberal application of the mind arts, it was easy to get what he wanted. Now, he was a proper citizen of Alderaan even though his paperwork would say that he was born abroad a starship thousands of light-years away. Then, he went to a bank to open an account and by exchanging around twenty kilos of gold at 13 credits per gram, he now had 260,000 credits under his name. He got himself an apartment near the academic district. And finally, he registered as a student in the University of Alderaan.

The followings years went by quickly for Harry as he was always busy with his studies. He was enrolled in an accelerated Biology program. He chose this field because he would have to find the means of cloning the magical animals of earth someday. In the meantime, he was analyzing the local plants and animals of Alderaan to determine whether they could be used for potions.

Outside of school, he studied starship and droid mechanics as well. He created a company called 'Potter Solutions' and was renting a private hanger under its name. That was where he could do his tinkering. After he was confident enough with his knowledge of droid design, he built his first droid.

It was a 3 foot tall droid called D-0B1, or Dobby, in remembrance of the loyal elf. Dobby had an enlarged head which housed multiple cognitive modules with two big telescoping eyes. He had flat electromagnetic transceiver that looked like the ears of an elf. In its small body was a power unit that was designed for much bigger droids. It had a hidden twin blaster in its right arm and a vibroblade in its left arm. The outer casing and the skeleton of the droid was made from durasteel which Harry applied runes to make them lighter.

Dobby was programmed as a protocol droid, servant droid, and bodyguard droid. However, Harry also made it to talk and move in the same manner as an elf for nostalgic reasons. It had a very unassuming presence until it was ordered to fight or it had to defend itself. At that point, Dobby would become like a little demon that could move faster than any droid available in the market.

Around the university, Harry was often seen with the little droid following behind him. He liked to let the droid carry his lab equipment while he walked reading a datapad. Some people had commented on the droid saying how they would like a personal assistant like Dobby as well.

Another thing that kept him occupied outside the university was his YT-1000 freighter in his hanger. It was a saucer shaped, 28 meter long starship with a central cockpit. It cost him around 100,000 credits with the full durasteel hull and class 2 hyperdrive options.

Furthermore, he swapped the dorsal mounted laser cannon with a quad-laser turret. Then, he added twin ion cannons on the outer side of the forward mandibles. He also added a concussion missile launcher on the underside of the ship with a complement of 8 missiles when the compartment was fully loaded.

The 'PSS Nimbus', as he named the ship, was a heavily armed freighter. All this additional weaponry was taxing the power generator too much, so he added another fusion generator with the necessary power converters located in the port side crew quarters that he was not planning on using. They would be dedicated solely to the shield and weapons system of the ship.

When all the mechanical upgrades were done, Harry went about applying runes in the ship. He wanted the enchantments to be more permanent than charms. It had taken him more than two weeks with the help of a couple of droids to etch the runes all on the interior side of the hull and the chassis of the Nimbus. After which, he had a ship that was 40 percent lighter than what it was. He had to carefully calibrate the weight reduction as to not create an imbalance when flying. In his test flights, the ship could run at the speed of 1,000 km/h in atmosphere and more maneuverable in space. The structure and the hull was made more resistant to damages. Harry was sure that it would take a lot of beatings to dent the enchanted hull of the ship. As for his crew, he had 2 pilot droids, 2 repair droids, 1 astromech droid, 1 worker droid for moving cargo, and, of course, Dobby as his personal assistant.

Five years after arriving on Alderaan, Harry had successfully completed his PhD in Biology. He felt that he was finally ready to explore the galaxy. He created another company based in Alderaan called Potter Trading which was a subsidiary of Potter Solutions. For his first trip, he purchased as much Alderaanian wine that he could fit in the cargo hold of the Nimbus. He sold the wine in Commenor. He bought the brandy which Commenor was known for there and sold it in Hosnian Prime for a tidy profit. There, he purchased crates upon crates of roasted caf beans and sold them in Corellia. He filled his cargo space with shuttle class starship parts which he traded in Coruscant.

Trading between Core worlds did not return big profits. However, he chose to do this for about six standard months. His purpose was to build his trading contacts in the Core. And after he felt that his company's place in trading between the Core systems was secured, he purchased a small shipyard in Corellia and registered it under a new company called 'Potter Engineering'. Here, he could start building the ships and droids that he designed. He ordered a large amount of iron slugs and scrapped metal to his shipyard. In the back he had a hidden room where he could use his Sorcerer's Stone to transform the cheap metal into whatever metal he needed.

The first thing he built was a couple of light freighters that he intended to use for trade along relatively safe trade routes. The 'OWL-a10' was controlled by a droid computer called 'Hedwig Module' installed in the cockpit, however, manual piloting was also possible. Aside from the cockpit, the only other space inside were the charging station for droids, a bunkbed, and a fresher. The body of the ship was only 8 meters long and 5 meters wide, but it had a wingspan of about 24 meters. Instead of carrying cargo within, up to four cargo containers could be hauled on the underside of the wings (2 on each wing) using magnetic clamps. It had a twin class 3 hyperdrive on its rear and ion drives on the wings. A twin laser cannon was mounted on top for protection. It looked similar to spacetugs with wings, but it was intended for intergalactic cargo hauling. When docked, the wings could be folded up to save space on a spaceport.

On board each OWL-a10's were a couple of droids that he designed. The GF-10's were designed to be a more robust protocol droids. They could handle the interpersonal transactions necessary for the business while being strong enough to assist in the loading and unloading of the cargo containers. Business transactions through droids were not unusual in the more civilized part of the galaxy so this was not something Harry thought would standout too much.

The OWL-a10's were registered as Potter Trading ships before they made their first trading venture. The droids would follow his instructions with room for decision making of their own. While they were limited to trade only in the Core Sector, the droids would decide which systems they would go to. The GF-10's and the Owls would decide what to buy and where to sell depending on the trends that they were observing through the HoloNet.

Harry followed their maiden trip with the Nimbus. He was actually surprised when to find out that the droids were prioritizing trades between agricultural worlds and industrial worlds rather than going for more exotic goods. Because the droids did not need shore leave, they were hauling food and tools non-stop. He figured that the droids decided that smaller but more frequent trades would net more profits rather than trading more expensive goods that would naturally require quality and authenticity tests before the transactions to go through.

These short trips that the droids were making was really what the Owls were made for, he concluded. There was no way that Harry could compete with the big shipping company in terms of the amount of cargo they could move. But when it came to moving cargo up to 200 metric tons between systems that were relatively close to one another, Potter Trading had the advantage. Rather than waiting for one big drop of goods, having a frequent delivery of products in smaller quantities was more preferable for a lot of merchants. Also, the Owls would drop off their cargo directly where it was needed as long as they had enough space to land on unlike larger freighter that needed more movers from the spaceports.

As the business was growing, Harry continued making more Owls. In a span of two years, he had built a considerable merchant fleet. His shipyard in Corellia had grown and was running almost completely automated. He had even started selling OWL-a10's for 70,000 credits each or 90,000 credits with the droids and the cargo containers. The ships that he sold did not come with the installed droid computer, instead, the GF-10's was presented as the default operator.

Potter Engineering and Potter Trading were making a lot of money for him. So, Harry decided that it was time to expand his business to the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim. However, he knew that the Trade Federations would not look kindly to a new company encroaching on their territories. They would not hesitate paying a pirate to target his ships. If he really wanted to expand, he would have to build other classes of ships. Also, he could no longer keep using the Nimbus, a ship made by another company, as his personal transport. He needed something that would make the right kind of impression. Something like a luxury yacht would do nicely.

So, he worked on a new design and what he ended up with was the Seeker Class Executive Ship or SKR-1. It had a 40 meters long, 8 meters wide body with a pointed shape towards the cockpit. There were 3 engines located at the rear and 2 more attached on the short wings that span 8 meters diagonally. It had a class 1 main hyperdrive with a class 10 backup. For weaponry, it had dorsal mounted twin laser cannons and front-facing heavy laser cannons. The fin on roof of the craft had four communications transceivers to ensure his connectivity as the ship was intended to be his mobile office and home.

Inside, there was a captain's quarters near the cockpit which he was using as an additional droid station. Near the access ramp was a classy lounge area and the dining room was beyond that. There were enough passenger quarters for 20 people with some being more spacious than others. The conference room was equipped with a holotable to make his remote meetings more convenient. The med-bay had 2 bacta tanks although he doubted that he would have much use of it. There was a proper droid station in the rear section of the ship with a fully-equipped repair station. There was a small cargo hold there and that was also where a small shuttle was parked. The main engine room was at the very end of the ship.

Since this would be his long term personal ship, Harry did not hesitate in including magical applications in its design. Like his executive suite which used space expanding runes to make it large enough to fit a luxury apartment. He also had a potions laboratory in there which was accessible only to him. Adjacent to the engine room, an unused crew quarters had been expanded to house the backup power generators together with a cruiser class shield generator. All the structural parts of the ship were made stronger and lighter with runes.

The exterior hull had a dark tungsten color with gold trims on either side and the belly and the propulsion were bare durasteel. The fin on top had the red logo of Potter Enterprise on it. Then there was the ship identification which boldly said, 'PSS FIREBOLT'. It was a beautiful ship and Harry was proud to admit it. He did not doubt that it would draw the eyes in any spaceports that it landed on.

Then, he created the Chaser Class Gunship or CHSR-g1. It was a gunship that he derived from the ST-70 Assault Ship (Razor Crest). It was an 18 meters long space and atmosphere capable craft with engines mounted on the wings and a class 2 hyperdrive. It had 2 front-facing laser cannons mounted below the cockpit, a twin laser turret on the roof, and missile launchers on its sides. Just like the OWL-a10's, it could be piloted manually even with the droid computer installed. When manned, a crew of 2-4 could be accommodated. He was sure that this could beat most fighter class starships with a skilled pilot. As it was piloted by a droid computer, Harry had programmed the basic combat maneuvers with some of his own variants in them. If Harry were to sell this, one gunship could be sold for 120,000 credits. After he was done with the designs, he placed 6 CHSR-g1's in the fabricating order in the ship yard.

The next thing he wanted to build was more challenging. The design alone took him more than 2 months and that was considerable time for a master of Occlumency. The Beater Class Frigate, or BTR-f1, was a 240 meter long frigate which can function as a small carrier. It had a class 2 hyperdrive with a class 12 backup, and 7 ion engines. For weapons, it had 8 turbolasers, 8 laser cannons, and 4 missile launchers. It was also equipped with a tractor beams at the front and at the docking bay which could house up to 6 gunships or 9 fighters.

It was a great undertaking for Harry to build just one and the whole process took him more than a year from designing to assembly. Thankfully, he had a Sorcerer's Stone which cut the cost tremendously. If he wanted to sell this frigate, it would be priced at no less than 6,500,000 credits depending on the armaments. Harry named the first one that he made as the 'Gred' and he installed a super droid computer to control the ship with the same name. It had multiple back up processors located in different sections of the ship in case of an emergency. It was crewed by 80 droids in their different roles. But if it were to be crewed by humans, it would support up to 200 crew members including passengers. Because the Gred would be his main escort ship, he also applied runes to its hull to make it stronger.
