Jason shook his head, it was clear the other teens needed to go, but after seeing the young woman take a toddler into the cabin, he was debating how to prevent the child from seeing the slaughter. He really had no desire to discuss this with anyone, but knew that he needed to observe this a little more, but also wanted to see if there was something he might be able to help with. Going down into the mines, he found an old generator, along with an old can of diesel, and carried it back up before closing up the mineshaft and covering it with leaves again. Taking note of the daylight, he stuck to the shadows and avoided being seen, observing the other couples as they played dirty games and said nasty things to each other. Eventually reaching hers, he put the can and generator next to the tall tree that shadowed her cabin, then looked for an electrical outlet. Finding one, he untangled the chord and left it lying there, better to let her find it and let her decide if she wanted it or not. "Hi big man!"
He jumped when he saw the toddler waving at him through the window, a small teddy in her arms. Slowly, he waved back, then lumbered off. Oddly, the bear reminded him of the teddy he still carried close to his heart, the one that was all he had left of his childhood. Heading back to his cabin, he reached for a journal, but instead picked up his own stuffed teddy from all those years ago. It was ragged, and had been stitched up several times, but still had the same comforting presence. Tucking it into a small box, he put the notebooks in as well, he needed to make sure no one suspected that they didn't find out he was alive. Then, stepping out into the woods, he could tell that the sun was just about to set, and see their fire in the distance. I think it's time to have a little fun….
Sitting in the cabin with Lily, Sandra looked out the window, they were all drinking. Carefully slipping her sister into bed, she stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air, only to see something by the big tree. Going over, she realized it was an old generator, but wasn't sure who had put it there. "Hello?" she looked around, swearing she heard a twig snap a moment ago, "Look, I'm sorry if we're trespassing, I can try and convince them to leave."
When she didn't get a response, she let out the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding in, and opened up the gas can. As the pungent smell of diesel hit her in the face, she felt her stomach turn, "Well at least I have fuel…" filling up the tank, she realized that the generator was old, but still worked like new. Connecting the long chord to an electrical outlet, she was ecstatic when the little nightlight she'd brought with them turned on, Lily hated the dark. But as she stood up, she noticed a strange shape in the dark, it looked like a man. The only issue was, he appeared to be massive, bigger than a grizzly on its hind paws, and appeared to be watching her friends. She didn't move, and neither did he, bringing her concern that he might be watching her as well. "Sir?"
The tall man turned to her, but remained in the dark, giving no response. "Look, I'm sorry if we are-"
He made an odd movement with his hands, which she realized was sign language. "Stay quiet, I won't hurt you."
She was taken aback, as he certainly didn't seem like he was planning on leaving them alone, considering the large blade and other knives hanging on his belt. "I don't know if I can believe that."
"I give you my word, just don't watch."
"Watch what?"
"Talk in sign, I don't want them to hear."
She scowled, not sure if she could trust him still, but didn't want to risk a blade wielding killer, "Who are you?"
"You don't know?"
"You literally came out of nowhere, are standing in the shadows, and are carrying a bunch of knives on your belt. How could I know who you are?"
"So, you don't really pay attention to the news? You know where you are, right?"
She took a paper out of her pocket and wrote the name of the camp, only to be surprised that he was suddenly closer to her, and hadn't made a sound doing it, "What- How-"
"Don't ask. Why are you here?"
"My parents, well, not the best people. Been staying with friends to protect my sister, I'm her guardian, they wanted to go camping here, something about a crazed seri-" Her trail of thought was cut as it suddenly hit her to who he was, "Shit."
"I tell you dude," Jacob clinked another bottle of beer against Bradley's, "this is the life."
"Yeah, and we got all the booze we want. Too bad we had to bring the party-pooper."
"She has to take care of her sister, Bradley, she wasn't really given a choice." Cindy, his girlfriend walked out, "Besides, she's always been conservative when it comes to values."
"A bunch of crap if you ask me, we can't even swear around that dumb brat." Bradley snarled, "She's literally staying in our house."
"Yeah," Jacob's speech was slurring, "not like the kid hasn't heard those words before."
Cindy laughed, and saw Makayla walk out, "Well, we're going skinny dipping, want to join us?"
Both men put their beers down, "Well, Hell, why wouldn't we?!"
