Forged in Fire: Tripping

"Let's go see the world Appa."

The unknown world outside of the monastery lands beckoned the young monk, but the more the older monks told Aang the outside world was off-limits, the more the child wanted to visit someplace far away he'd never been before. Brief glimpses of the outside world when traveling with Monk Gyatso simply made Aang want to see even more.

Today, he'd gotten into an argument with one of the other older monks about why the monks rarely if ever traveled from the monastery lands when their companions were Flying Bison which allowed them to travel quite far. "You don't understand enough about the outside world to realize why that would be a danger, to us all."

"How can I know enough about the outside world when they don't let me see it?" Aang quipped, climbing on top of Appa so he might take a trip around the world. The wind which fueled the abilities of the monk blew in his face as Appa traveled in an unknown direction and everything seemed fine, but then dark storm clouds rolled up and lightning began to flash.

Appa started to buck while Aang attempted controlling the rather large beast, yet rather quickly Aang knew they'd become lost. A flash of lightning in the sky revealed a rather large city off in the distance as the lightning flashed. Aang stood up, placing a palm across his brow. "Wow! That place is huge!"

Quickly, Appa flew closer to the city and Aang looked down at the tall buildings he never expected anyone to make. Off to the side, the clouds began to clear, but not before one more bolt of lightning flashed and Appa gave a roar before spinning out of control through the sky, almost like the tops Aang liked playing with. Quickly, they fell past large buildings, toward a green place down below.

With a loud crash, Appa skid across the green grass, letting out another roar at the discomfort caused by the crash landing. Hoping down, he touched Appa's side, lowering his voice to calm the beast. "Where are we Appa?"

A few people moved about the place, but they hurried away as Aang attempted calling out to them. He called out as he hurried after one of the people, hoping to learn something about where they were. "Stay there Appa."

Using his ability to manipulate air, Aang hurried after the person, only for the person to seem afraid of his presence. The person continued across the lanes of painted lines while Aang stopped just in front. "Hey! Wait!"

Aang hurried out suddenly but stopped when he heard a rather loud sound he couldn't describe just in time to see a rather large object barrelling at him. Aang went into a stance where his palms faced outward, setting off a blast of air, sending the object flipping through the air, landing on top of another of the same objects. People screamed, asking him what he was thinking, even telling him that he'd hurt people.

"Wait. What do you mean?" Aang turned to someone, only to have that person tell him to go away, that he was a danger to society. Another noise erupted and more of the objects came towards him, but these had lights on top. Aang wondered if he would need to flip another one in defense, but they stopped short, someone named Commissioner Gordon saying he needed to turn himself in. "I don't understand!" Again, someone told him he'd hurt people, but there were murmurings that he was a danger to society. "I don't know what I did. I'm lost and want to go home!"

"Summon the Batman," Commissioner Gordon said, taking a break from the object that amplified his voice. A shiver ran down Aang's spine, as he didn't want to deal with any of the world's spirits, yet the two who showed up were in fact not spirits, though the dressed strangely, the taller one and likely the adult dressed all in black, while the one who looked around his age was dressed in bright colors.

While the man in black talked to the Commissioner Gordon person, the one dressed in bright colors somersaulted over the barrier while that same person looked at Aang warily. He walked over to Aang. "Hi. I'm Robin."

"I'm Aang. Nice to meet you."

Robin looked towards the object Aang flipped, but Aang saw someone cutting people out of the object and hauling them away in the other. "I know you didn't mean to hurt people and this is a strange place for you, but you need to be more careful using your powers here in Gothom. Bats and I, we'll contact the league and help you find your way home. Okay?"

"Okay," Aang said meekly.
