Snippet 11: A lonely time with myself, or 'I am finally alone with my thoughts and someone is tapping at my window.'
Solitaire is not a fun game to play for two whole hours. Even after just an hour, I was getting incredibly annoyed by the situation.
Morning came and it created a very awkward situation with Joy. She wasn't angry at the fact we were literally snuggling one against the other, but she had really been unnerved by how 'weirdly nice' that had felt. Plus, she felt compelled to actually let me be for a while rather than try to untangle the messy development for the time being. To let us both 'unwind' for a while. I found no reason to lament that, but I sure felt like this could have been worded better than "I'm going to buy some stuff, and I'll be back in a few hours- so bye!". It was cute, but still incredibly saddening as it left me alone in the flat with nothing to do.
Nothing but playing Solitaire to my eternal discomfort and boredom. I mean, things could be worse. Like getting found and caught by the two individuals I was trying to avoid. There was much to think of these last few days, such as how I felt like things are just going to quiet down very soon as both girls would definitely find another interest to be focusing on. Hope was a sure case, but I had a bit of doubt that Naerie was going to drop off from the chase that soon. Something about her eagerness just told me she was really committed to the situation, so she was probably latched at this affair for a little longer than Hope would.
...
Man, this is the first time I hate the silence.
Normally I didn't mind being alone to think about this kind of stuff, but I was also in the mood of making conversation with someone. My paranoia about possible attacks just made it tough trying to keep things chill and I was about to consider going for a walk since this whole place felt more like a cell than a shelter. Joy was still out and I was slowly losing my mind without the means to spend some time. I had no PC, I've finished all papers where I could doodle on and... yep, this is just plain depressing.
Maybe I should be the one handling Naerie and risk it? I mean, coming to the worst possible, she isn't the kind of girl that would do something too extreme if one knows how to apply pressure back to her. Plus, I enabled her into becoming this obsessed, so it should be my responsibility to face her and get her to stop for good. A few times of fun wouldn't be bad, but the fact she was trying to get a baby out of the latest encounter sure put it clear how into it she grew. But what if there was more to it that I hadn't noticed? What if... I had unconsciously awakened something that was a genuine part of her and she was latching onto me due to this?
Despite the importance I was putting in my pondering, my thoughts went silent when I started to hear the incessant sound of someone tapping at the... nearby window? I blinked, remembering that the flat was on the third floor and there was no emergency staircase to it. The fact that someone or something was tapping at the window meant that... they weren't exactly common folks. I walked up to the window, grabbing a baseball bat that Joy brought in case of necessity, in case I had to fend off for myself, and... and I frowned when I recognized the pair of eyes staring back at me. Red-sclera, white iris, a malicious grin and violet hair. I could recognize this chaos-loving girl with just these details.
"Ayah?"
"Greetings, Human."
It wasn't the first time I met her... and not the second or third. Truth be told, I would end up sparing a chat or two with the chaos worshiper and end up exchanging opinions on what kind of chaos was her predisposition since... Well, there are many versions of Chaos. Controlled chaos, unrelenting one, natural, casual and more. She fit more into the 'I want to cause malicious chaos for the sake of my twisted amusement' and less about 'I want to just ruin everything because I can'. The reason why that very desire was no longer a reason for concern was tied to the seal implemented on her upper back. A Love Clan mark meant to keep her 'leashed' and not cause any trouble as they tried to slowly convert her out of full chaos. Because, while using chaos is fine for Narakhans, the way she used it was too 'deep' and corrupting.
Still, she never showed any major intention to hurt me even within the situation she hadn't a seal. In her eyes, all humans were the 'secondary' issues to the main problem. I was a neutral element within that situation and one that was willing to discuss chaos and its functions. So, in a way, I was also a possible candidate to become a chaos cultist. Not like I would, but it was entertaining discussing the extent of conjuring everything out of nothing. Sounded like a comfy power.
"...Hanging around, I see," I hummed as I noticed that she was using some chaos-born tendrils to keep close to the window. "Don't want to be rude but... whatcha doing here?"
"I've heard from the little Love one that she was guarding you. Which means that you have definitely engaged against chaos... am I correct?"
Oh? Do I hear a threatening voice?
"Nope. Let's just say there was an escalation between Lady Ambar's daughter, Hope and me."
She raised a confused look and I pulled the window up so she could speak and hear better.
"Elaborate."
"Hope is Hope, and Naerie kind of has an obsession for me now."
"I see... then, I suppose that you wouldn't mind if..."
I blinked. "If I did what?"
"Can I... Can I come in?"
"...Why?"
She snarled. "I'm bored. You are bored! I saw you sigh and huff, so we can get some chaos going."
"I mean, I have some cards-"
"Strip poker!"
"How about Truth or Dare Poker?"
Ayah looked pensive and ready to rebuke that but... then she realized the greater potential it had.
"Deal."
So, when Joy finally returned, expecting to find me bored out of my mind and thus willing to accept her apology gift in the form of a few dozens comic books she found around, the girl paused when she realized I was playing some insane game with a giggling Narakhan as a good part of the flat was filled with faceless garden gnomes and a few statues of Ayah minus clothes.
"W-What is going on?!"
Ayah giggled louder, launching her hands up. "CHAOS~!"
Ah yes, the purest form of chaotic fun ever. Stupid insanity.
