Dear diary,
Well, Catherine took her revenge. She wrote a poem after I gave her the ultimatum to choose between me or Heathcliff, and I'm sure she left it lying around so I'd see it.
Apparently, she's not sure if she wants to be with me or that – Heathcliff. She thinks they're soul mates. How could she be soul mates with that thing? He's a dirty, violent, uneducated fool. What could she possibly see in him?
Oh, she's going to say yes to me.
For love? Possibly.
For state? Probably.
For money? Definitely.
To help Heathcliff.
Yes, she wants to marry me to help him with MY money. What makes her think I want to help her do that? It's hard to believe that my sweet Catherine Earnshaw could be so manipulative and underhanded.
But she wouldn't marry someone for such a superficial reason, would she? There must be some love...musn't there? She does laugh at my jokes, and we spend time together, so she enjoys my company. That's something. She said in the poem 'Edgar is handsome, funny and kind.' That has to mean something.
But I can't help loving her, whatever her motives. She's beautiful. Am I being stupid?
PS: she also said she doesn't care for my mind. Do you think that's at all relevant?
A.N: I warned you these were short... ever heard the phrase 'quality, not quantity'? lol :D
