Chapter 28: Desert War Part 4

30 Minutes later

Outskirts of Puente Antiguo, SHIELD forward operating base

Jeanne Dark

Everything had gone exactly as I'd expected, almost one-for-one with what happened in the movie. Thor did his little breaking-and-entering routine; beat the hell out of all the guards and had his little breakdown when he couldn't lift his hammer. There was something uniquely fascinating about seeing these stories while also being a part of them. See when you were actually there, just like with the Hulk and the Harlem incident, there was just so much you could see, tons of little details that you'd never see when watching through a screen.

I saw that one agent, who put up a proper fight against Thor getting treated by medics, and the proper apprehension of the God of thunder. I didn't expect to see his breakdown after being rejected by Mjolnir. The exiled god had grown silent. His shoulders slumped and he just stood there, his gaze shaking between the hammer and his hands. He was just there, his battle-hardened body presented like the statue of the vanquished, of the defeated. Because he had lost Mjolnir… He did not resist when he was brought to a holding cell.

Agent Coulson and I stood side to side, he seemed almost transfixed by the events that had just transpired. It was understandable after all. He had been told the significance of Asgard and the nature of their conflicts. He couldn't claim to know the kind of person they had captured, but he probably deduced from my behaviour that there was more to him than usual.

The agent is smart enough to have already deduced that Thor is of supernatural origin rather than a mercenary or agent of some kind.

Coulson had already questioned him with something similar to what had happened in the movie, complete with Loki's surprise reveal in the cell... As soon as Coulson had left Thor's cell a spell covered it, something that obscured what was truly going on within.

It was an illusion, cast by Loki I would imagine. The room shrouded both Sight and Sound, making it look like Thor was sitting idly In the room. In truth, he was now speaking with his brother who was dutifully keeping to the Script as he lied about their father's condition.

Based on what I could remember, Loki was about to finish, so I quickly made my way to intercept Coulson before he could enter the cell again. I softly grabbed him by the shoulder, making him look at me.

"Mind if I talk to him? I think I know who we're dealing with." I whisper to him.

Coulson stares questioningly as he turns back to the door, "You think this is him, the Prince, Thor?"

"I'm almost certain, but I still need to confirm something and the only way I can do that is if I talk to him."

Coulson gives me an unsure look before letting out a sigh, "You've got five minutes, no more."

I nod at him with a smile on my face as I head towards the cell. As I open the door, Thor's silent whisper of "Goodbye" greets me.

I don't say anything as I enter, making the shaken men stare at me after realising I had entered. To my luck, he didn't recognise me from the hospital. (Probably due to me wearing hospital scrubs that covered both my hair and face.)

He didn't move as I took the seat across from him, now lost in his own world. Loki had done a good job in breaking him. Telling him that his family didn't want to see him and all that… God, what a fucked up family.

"He lied, you know," I break the silence. It causes an immediate reaction as he suddenly stares at me with eyes wide.

"Wha-…What did you just say?" he replies with a sombre voice.

I ponder on how to answer him for a split second before simply laying out the facts. Blatant honesty might hurt sometimes, but it is also needed.

"Your brother is going through his own issues at the moment. A bit of an identity crisis coupled with an inferiority complex due to centuries of being 'in your shadow'. So he lied about a few things to shatter your will and make sure you couldn't reclaim your hammer." He is perturbed by the sudden info-dump and it quickly escalates into anger as I elaborate further. "The fact that he is also adopted doesn't exactly help."

He rips up from his chair with a furious expression, "Mind your tongue mortal! I will not have you tarnish my brother's name!"

Just as he approaches me, I nonchalantly point two fingers in his direction. A jet of blue hellfire blasts from my digits, narrowly missing his face. Rather than let the flame dissipate (or melt through the cell) I keep it alight. By my will, the flame splits into small wisps that fly through the room. Their heat and nature clearly show the danger he is in.

Considering that I was expecting stubborn behaviour, it was quite something to see him sit down once more. "What do you want, Witch."

That word… it usually caused a reaction in me and judging by the tensing of his body, I believe that it did. The flames had fluctuated and the room had been heated up to an unbearable level.

I cut the mana fueling the flames and calmed myself down as I leaned back into my own chair. "Sorry about that little outburst… As you may have guessed, oh Prince, I react badly to that title, even if it is accurate… but you wanted to know what I wanted. Well, that is rather simple, but it will require you to learn some things."

He scoffed at the idea. I raised my hand before he could say something and continued, "What? Are you so averse to learning about your own brother's true nature?"

His eyes harden once more, "What exactly are you saying."

I let the smirk drop from my face as I begin, "Well there is more to him than you might think… and it begins quite some time ago. To the war between Asgard and Jotunheim…"

Asgard

Loki Laufeyson

The palace was filled with an eerie silence. It wasn't the silence that came from a lack of comings and goings, a slow day as some would say, but rather a calm that could be broken with ease.

The trickster Loki was on the throne after all and war was approaching. Many did not like this development. The Warriors 3 and especially Lady Sif were probably the ones most vocal to this concern. They would not stop until the banishment of Thor could be lifted and were considering their options after being rejected by Loki.

And as they considered means to help their friend, the ruling King had made his way to the cells beneath the city once more. He had just returned from Midgard after failing in his retrieval of Mjolnir and the fact that his brother, Thor, trusted him to such a foolish degree infuriated him to no end. He knew that if Thor knew of who he was..of what he was, that things would be very different.

So Loki went to speak with the brother so many had called mad.

His presence is considered a danger to many, but the God of mischief was fueled by anger and wouldn't be deterred. After he yelled for the guards to leave the hall, he angrily stomped towards the cell that Baldur was sleeping in and slammed his fists against the wall.

"Did you know!" He yelled startling the bearded man awake.

He murmurs in inaudible grunts as he rolls from his cot. A bottle falls over and shatters onto the cold floor, adding to the shards already lying there. His feet take him towards the viewing window as they are sliced open by the glass. Any injuries however are healed within seconds, leaving close to no blood on the floor.

He holds his hands against the window as he rests his forehead on the translucent material. He groans in annoyance as he opens his icey blue eyes to stare at the brother before him. "I don't exactly enjoy being woken up by hellish scream-"

"I DON'T CARE BALDUR! DID YOU KNOW!" Loki interrupts with a loud scream, making the topless man recoil from the loud noise before slamming his fast against the Window once more, further cracking the barrier between them. The cell h...d already been damaged a while ago and no time had been found to move Baldur into another cell, not with the commotion in Asgard going on.

The sudden attack had given Loki a jolt of fear, making him realise just who he had been screaming at.

"Are you finally calm little brother?" He stares at Loki with one eye widened to a degree. his eyes showed legitimate concern, something that Loki hadn't expected of him...though, it did indicate that Baldur may not be knowledgeable of his true heritage. His thoughts are drawn back to the question the man had asked him.

He steadies his breath and nods, "Yes...I apologize brother...I needed to know if you knew that…..That I...That I-." His words froze in his mouth, fear gripped his body as he believed that his eldest sibling may reject him as well. Baldur was never an overtly compassionate man, but that made the rare signs of his affection even more valuable.

Something that Loki had always appreciated was the fact that he judged himself and Loki equally. He wasn't Thor's little brother to him, but rather Loki. Where others made fun of the "cowardice" of his magics, Baldur commended him for his endeavours. Though Baldur's mind couldn't really be compared to the thoughts of others. Unlike most of the people in Thor and Loki's generation, Baldur had actually seen war, fought in battles of true survival.

And while others would rather not know it, Baldur cared nothing for honour or "Sport". He valued victory overall and the use of magic was seen as a boon by him, rather than it being something less.

This is why Loki was so disheartened when Baldur finally snapped. Baldur's mood had grown sourer over the years, but no one thought anything of it. But when Thor was granted Mijolnir and had learned how to use it, Baldur had unleashed a cold fury upon him that no one had expected. He was beating Thor into a pulp as the younger god failed to properly defend himself, not wishing to turn the divine hammer against his own brother. No one knew the reason for it and no one could reason with him.

Odin himself had to act and skewered him with Gungnir before he could fatally injure Thor. He obviously recovered from the damage, but the fact that he would not stop from his attempts soon found him locked in the cells beneath Asgard. Any attempts to reason with him failed and whenever he was released from his cell, his supposed change was made null when he encountered the young Thor.

No one truly knew why he did this, except for the Allfater most probably who had often talked to him in private. When Baldur later began speaking of the "Bloody and cruel truth of Asgard", his reputation became that of a madman and any hopes of his release soon fell apart.

All these things were going through Loki's mind recently, especially now that it was revealed that Odin was not as honest as it had seemed, he had come to see his eldest Brother.

Silence had fallen between them now, as Loki had never finished his sentence. Baldur however saw the turmoil within Loki and realised what it was.

"Did I know that you were a Jotun?" He eventually says. Loki is shocked by the revelation and promptly sinks to the ground as he himself was still struggling with the realisation. But to think that someone else knew….

"...Did you think I thought less of you due to your heritage?" Baldur's words cut through the silence, making Loki stare up at him in surprise...it didn't last, however.

He quickly erupts in hysteric rage as he pulls himself up from the ground, "Why wouldn't you! I am of a race of monsters, the kind that strikes fear into the hearts of children! Why….." He holds his head in frustration, his turmoil clear on his face. His thoughts grow darker once more but before he can sink too far, Baldur once again speaks out.

"...Asgards teachings were never good and key things have been left out for the sake of Odin's narrative." He turns to his brother, gazing at Loki with clear eyes as he continued. "Did you know that the Allfather's own mother was a Jotun?... Though I doubt you would believe that…..but yes, I knew about you Loki. I was there when Odin took you from Jotunheim, I was there during that battle. I knew exactly who and what you were from the day I first met you."

To say that Loki was shocked would have been an understatement. He was convinced that his brother would hate him, just as Thor was apparent of his dislike towards the frost Giants….But Baldur knew...and he treated him like his own brother.

"Why…"

Baldur lets out a scoff as he begins pacing the cell, his feet once again, are sliced by the shards of glass. "Odin initially thought to use you as a bargaining chip against the Jotuns, that was his thought and don't let him tell you otherwise...But Frigga took a liking to you...and with time, so did the rest of us." He stops with his back turned to Loki and his face aimed at the wall as he remembers that old battle. His mind wanders to what happened after as well.

"Before anyone knew it, the thought of using you for political gains was completely gone. That is the truth and nothing less. We grew fond of you Loki and saw you as a member of this family...never doubt that."

Baldur had finished his words, not a single sign of doubt was to be heard in them. As silence once again settles the dungeons, a sound of sliding Glass can be heard. Baldur turns around to see that Loki had opened his cell and was now approaching him.

Loki pulls him into a weak hug, which honestly surprises the imprisoned god. He eventually reciprocates the hug before letting off a light chuckle. "That is enough of that now little brother, show me around the palace, will you? And to tell me exactly what has happened with that oaf we call our brother."

Loi slowly ends the hug as he gives his brother a slow nod.

With that, they both head towards the dungeon's exit, drawing the eyes of many palace guards, but none had the courage to say anything. This was due to a single fact. While Baldur isn't known as the strongest, most skilled or fastest warrior of Asgard, he was still the most terrifying. He was a warrior of brutality, of sheer will and with no sense of self-preservation. So even if he was walking next to the king, everyone knew that only the Allfather could actually force him back into his cell.

Archer and Caster

On one of the many rooftops within the small town, two men were lazing about in the scorching sun...or just one in this case. Billy the kid was currently sitting in a lawn chair with an opened beer in hand. His repeater was lying on his lap as he slowly drank the beverage.

Geronimo on the other hand was preparing a shamanic ritual with a magic circle he had drawn on the roof. The circle didn't have any great esoteric properties or effects that it would call forth….other than disabling all magic in its effective range.

The two heroic servants didn't know much about their target other than the fact that she was more focused on magical abilities. Both Archer and Caster were rather skilled without magic and had better chances at combat with these conditions. Even though their strength had been increased by the grail and were in the state of their second ascensions, Geronimo didn't want to be unprepared.

He stares over at Archer with a slight grimace on his face, "Since we arrived at this town, you have been doing nothing productive to help us. Other than robbing that man exiting a store for his beverages. I have had to hypnotize enough people when we got your weapons and acquired transport to this town. You making things worse by robbing a man in the middle of the day, not to mention the various other occurrences, hardly helps, boy." Geronimo said with a condescending attitude. He was frankly unimpressed by Billy's behaviour so far and while he wouldn't admit it, he does think the boy is a bit unsuited to be a heroic spirit…

Billy turns his head to the other servant, his eyes filled with razor-sharp focus. His smile that had been adorning his face during all this time was now gone. He speaks in a serious tone, "Don't get your panties in a twist partner. I may be joking around and screwing around, but my eye is still on the prize... I know why we are here. I know what we have to do. And believe me when I say this. I swear on my name as an outlaw of this nation, I will get the job done."

Billy's words surprise Caster, even if he doesn't show it. One could understand it though as he had behaved more akin to a prankster or a child since they had met. This however reminded caster that this boy was anything but. He was one of the most renowned outlaws in this country after all. He earned that title.

And just as his demeanour changed before, it shifts once more to an ear to ear grin, "But we don't have to worry about that for now! Girl ain't here and it's way too hot to actually do anything now. besides, she has been here for nearly a month now. I doubt she will be leaving anytime soon. So might as well enjoy it!" He cheers as he holds the beer into the air.

Caster only scoffs at the action, but he can't stop himself from making a small smile. The boy was growing on him and in the end, he served as an excellent distraction from their mission. The more he thought of it after all, the more he worried what would happen if they fail…

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Asgard

20 minutes later

Baldur

A grin spread across Baldur's face as he walked through the halls of Asgard. It had been too long since his eyes had seen these halls after all. The guards and officials of the palace gazed upon him with watchful eyes but wouldn't do anything.

Loki seemed hardly deterred by their looks as they spoke of Asgard's past… the thoughts of others probably didn't concern him now with all the things said.

Baldur imagined that his little brother never put much value in the things that he had said...But now things are different. Baldur told him of the war between Asgard and Jotunheim, of his upbringing and some things even more profound. He mentioned the eldest sister Hela, someone he still questioned whether or not she truly existed, but now he at least gave the possibility a chance.

Their conversations slowed when they eventually arrived in the throne room. During their conversation, Baldur had been avoiding to speak of a certain subject. It was something Loki probably noticed and with their conversation of Asgard's history now fading, Loki asked his question.

"Why Thor?"

Baldur cranes his neck to the side with a knowing smile, "I think you will have to clarify."

Loki scoffed in immediate irritation, "Why do you wish to kill him. None of your stories has mentioned a reason for why you would want him dead….so Why?"

Baldur only shrugs as he stares at the mural above them. It was an elegant piece of art showing the gallant and noble past of their people. But Baldur knew what it was a cover-up. A literal one in this case.

As he continued staring at the ceiling, he began, "Can you imagine what it is like?...to not feel anything?" He turns back towards Loki with an unreadable expression. His eyes held a cold fury in them though.

"Not being able to feel the warmth of a summer day or the frost of chilling winter. Not being able to taste the feasts of Asgard or its precious wine. To be deprived of the pleasures of flesh, both in bed and even the simplest of touches. Not being able to feel the sensation of your own flesh ripping apart as enemy blades rip through it! COULD YOU EVEN IMAGINE IT LOKI!" He breaks out in a yell.

Magic ripples across his skin, making Loki raise Gungnir with slight hesitation. It was the only thing that even gave a chance against Baldur should he turn hostile. He backs away while holding the spear, "I am very aware of your condition Baldur. What I want to know is why you want to kill Thor."

Baldur's anger is replaced by annoyance as he turns around with an irritated sigh, "It's not Thor that I want to kill you fool...I want him to fight me. Without hesitation, without remorse. Because unlike that spear you are currently swinging around, Molnir might make a fight with me fair."

He moves to the throne and with a feat of strength not many Asgardians could boast of, he rips the throne out of the ground and hurls it towards the ceiling. The metal construct crashes into the painted stone with a thunderous roar and chunks of rubble come flying down below.

Loki is quick to dodge the pieces while Baldur shrugs them off. The raining down of debris ends as fast as it begins and Loki stares up to inspect the damage. To his surprise, rather than seeing a broken hole exposing the throne room to the outside elements as he expected, another Mural could now be seen.

It depicted Battles of Asgard, shone in a very different light as to how they are told of today. What truly drew Loki's attention though, was the woman standing side by side with Odin, clearly holding up Mjolnir in her hand.

"Mjolnir is not a source of power, but a weapon to channel the power of whoever wields it…. Other than that, however, it also stores that power when unused. And what this means, my little brother, is that that Hammer still holds the power of our eldest sibling." Baldur states.

Loki is clearly shocked at the revelation, more than before. Baldur knew this was what now convinced him. With a quiet voice, Loki asks as he continues to stare at the woman with the horned Helmet, "...Hela...The goddess of Death… She was truly real then?"

Baldur nods, "Indeed, and it isn't 'she wasreal', it's 'she is real'."

Loki's eyes rip down in shock as he understands the meaning of those words, "Wait...You mean to say that she still lives?"

Baldur chuckles as he begins to pace the room," Indeed. Our Sister is locked away in a prison made and maintained by our father's power, forever sealed until the day he dies." He turns to the mural himself with a sneer, "….All that because he feared her ambition and her Power."

Loki reacts to the words as he clearly needs elaboration, but he also needs to know something more relevant at the time, "And her power...it was dominion over death, was it not?"

Baldur nods before elaborating, "She held power of it, yes. She could bring back the dead as mindless hordes if she had an outside power fueling her. She made weapons that could kill even Asgardians with ease and….it's rather funny, but I believe her dominion was more about bringing death rather than controlling it." Baldur chuckles with a small grin on his face as he thinks back on his sister's rather strange skillset.

Loki on the other hand may now have finally figured out the older god's true goal now, "The Hammer!"

He pauses as Baldur looks back towards him with a knowing look. It doesn't stop him from voicing his theory though, "…...With her Power still within that Hammer...It could potentially kill you as well… All these years, you didn't wish to kill Thor for some slight he caused you… You did it because he could grant you a warrior's death."

Baldur smiles at Loki after hearing that. Rather than having a smug expression, or a sarcastic smirk, his face showed something else. It was a true smile, coming from his very soul...and it showed far more than what Loki wanted to see. It showed the face of a tired and old man, driven insane by the spell afflicting him. It was a man that wanted his rest and the only thing that mattered was how he found his end.

Loki ponders the dilemma as he honestly didn't know what he could say to deter Baldur…It was something he was honestly unsure if he was even willing to do.

My little history lesson for the god had finally ended and I left the cell with thor deep in thoughts. The door closed behind me and I was now standing in front of agent Coulson who was sporting an unreadable expression.

"Was all of that true?" He asks as he moves away while gesturing for me to follow.

I quickly fall in step and state, "Without lies or deception there. And even though these events happened over a millennia ago, I'm 90% sure that my info is accurate."

Coulson nods as we enter the surveillance room again. Fury is the first to speak as I enter, "What now Penning? We have an exiled alien here and our first contact wasn't exactly friendly…. But he is apparently from the kind of royalty that might fuck us over if we do something to him."

I lean against a wall near the door as I pretend to ponder the question. I give it a few seconds before giving my answer, "Simply pretend he is human. Witches wouldn't exactly work for you and it isn't out of the range of possibility that he would believe I infiltrated this place. Besides, if my divination is still somewhat correct, then Dr Selvig should be arriving soon to get him out."

Fury's eye twitches in annoyance, "So what? We just let him go? He took out a dozen of our men."

This just gets a scoff out of me, "And what will that bring? If you think that they just dumped an Exile here and that is the end of story, then you are dead wrong Fury…" I pinch my brows for a momentary pause. I was supposed to be cooperating with them after all, so just calling them stupid really isn't productive.

"Look, I'm not saying we let him go...I mean I am, but we aren't going to let him out of our sight. Keep an eye on him and also make sure you could defend the city from….whatever honestly."

Fury stares incredulously as he asks, "What, are we expecting an attack by these frost giants then? Could some of them have been unhappy with the punishment on Thor?"

I was actually stumped by the question. Mainly due to it being a valid possibility. I do quickly clear things up and shake my head, "Not quite. It could be them, it could also be Asgardians wanting to ensure that Thor can't come home for good."

"Well great. We won't be able to get any heavy ordnance in a small time frame, what would you even recommend here?" Barton pipes up for a change.

It makes me grin a bit due to the answer in my mind, "I doubt a Tank or something would even be that helpful. The most important thing, for now, is being ready to evacuate the town immediately. Other than that we have a good Archer like yourself currently available. We could always start with that."

Barton shows the surprise on his face before Fury cuts in, "Barton, you're with Coulson then... And Penning ... Don't mess this up."

The two give a yes sir and I answer with a simple nod as we exit the room. I was unsure if I was prepared for the coming day, but I would not doubt myself now. I have gotten this far after all. And I was only planning help with the battle against the destroyer. But with what the One Above All said...I'm guessing some surprises are coming my way…

I guess you better prepare then, Jeanne.

I'll most certainly try SYSTEM...

"There she is!"

Archer looked at the figure of a red-haired woman in the streets below with squinted eyes. He mustered over her for a moment before his eyes drifted to the blond-haired buff looking guy and an elderly man who both seemed rather drunk. Their target was watching them from across the street.

"Huh, looks like they were partying. Man, are they lucky..."

Archer drifted off a bit, wishing for another good drink for himself as Caster beside him rolled his eyes. Sighing Archer decided that work should come first and drew his gun before aiming at the woman.

Just as he was about to pull the trigger though the hand of Caster landed on his shoulder.

"Not yet. Unlike her own targets, our target is not drunk and is in fact very aware of her surroundings. She hasn't located us yet but a few bits of her body language tell me that she at least suspects that she is observed."

Archer pouted but put his gun away again.

"Then what should we do? Sooner or later we need to go after her and currently, she at least has some deadweight to distract her."

Caster considered it for a moment before shaking his head.

"No, we aren't direct fighters and need to approach this smart. If there is one thing I have learned while hunting then it is that the best moment for attack is when your prey is fighting itself. If our target is as malicious as we were told then she will no doubt be in battle soon. We will strike then, once she goes for the kill herself."

Archer scratched his head in thought but nodded in agreement.

"Gotcha. Well, if we aren't striking tonight then how about we go for a drink ourselves?"

Caster starred at his young partner in annoyance but sighed.

"...Fine...lead the way."

Today was my day off from the hospital and it came perfectly as I doubted I would be working there again. I had time to kill before things started happening again so the first thing I did was eat the body of Simon Lasker, the "Pyro" that I had killed not too long ago. His Stats were meagre, but they still made a difference. I had also decided to finally stop saving my stat points and decided to spend some of them.

I was rather happy with the improvements and thought it all was decently balanced for now. What truly interests me is the ability that I gained from him.

Pyrokinesis

As one can imagine, it wasn't that special to me as it also used my mana even though it wasn't magical in nature. It was essentially fire control based on mental capabilities and generally not of much use. What truly intrigued me was what happened when I combined it with my Hellfire.

Supreme Ignithurgy: The power to create any flames known to man or the demons of Hell. A skill one step short of divinity and limited by the supply of the user's Magic energy and their imagination.

The Skill was….almost broken if I was being honest. It allowed my flames to take on different properties like Magnesium fires that burn underwater or Necrofire which was especially effective against immortals or older beings as it targeted lifeforce and lifespan.

Something I found especially intriguing was the level of heat my flames could now reach. Based on the amount of mana at my disposal, I could turn up the degrees indefinitely. What also interested me was the possibility of improving it even further. I imagine that if I ever get heavenly or holy fire of some kind that I would be able to complete the set, so to say.

This skill was probably at its second last state as it no longer possessed a level.

After I'm done with New Mexico, I will have to properly focus on the Demon hunting if I'm being honest. That was the last body I could devour and I know better powers will come along with time.

My attention is pulled back to the present happenings as I spot 4 people who are definitely not dressed for this town.

I was keeping an eye on the comings and goings of the town and Coulson Calling in the Bifrost opening gave me any required forewarning needed. It wasn't that necessary though as only the four companions of Thor had now finally arrived.

As I pondered the remaining movie I remembered a crucial detail. I wanted Thor to at least get his powers back. That is something that shouldn't be changed from the original timeline. Everything after that is free game.

But considering the things that have happened so far, I was guessing that that would take a lot of effort. The first thing I did was call Coulson and told them to head to the town rather than to the Bifrost site where they could be demolished by the Destroyer. This way we could ensure fewer casualties at least.

Just as the SHIELD vehicles were arriving in the city, the cloudy storm above the Bifrost point could be seen again.

Meanwhile

The Rainbow bridge, Asgard

Baldur stared at the frozen form of Heimdall and could only chuckle at the ease with which he was subdued. He stared towards the approaching Destroyer armour as Loki prepared the Bifrost to open once more.

Loki turns his head, "Are you certain you do not wish to leave with the armour? It will take some preparation on my part before I can open it again after all and I need to open a gate to Jotunheim after this."

Baldur shakes his head, "No, I will wait first. Thor still hasn't regained the hammer or his powers. Under the Armor's influence, he will perhaps regain them. And when he has proven his worth, I will take him on. Not earlier and not later."

Loki nods in understanding as he commands the armour to enter the Bifrost's beam. With his connection via Gungnir, he commands the armour to seek out... and destroy Thor.

I can see the armour in the distance and already see it approaching the town. Coulson approaches my side as we spot Thor and his entourage on the other side of the road, "What now Penning? Can't say I know what that thing is, but it certainly reminds me of something Stark would make...And if it is something comparable then we have a different kind of problem."

I nod in agreement as I observe the Armor. It wasn't considered a proper entity as it was technically a remote-controlled item, yet it still received a Level and stats.

Destroyer Armor (Divine Construct) LV 800

Quality: Asgardian made

Condition: Sensory Scrying and Partial Possession Enchantments ( Allows remote control and viewing of Armor with the aid of Gungnir )

Strength =5000

Vitality = 9000

Dexterity = 2000

Unique properties: The Destroyer is constructed of otherworldly materials that make it highly resistant to damage. Only weapons on the level of Mjolnir can hope to harm it. It is fueled by the Odin force which it can channel through its visor. It receives its power through its connection through Gungnir.

[Note] Current Energy make up: 96% Odinforce, 1% Cryomancy, 2% Illusion Magic, 1% Chaos Magic.

The following Skills have Levelled up

Blacksmithing (Advanced) LV 46-73

Enchantment (Expert) LV 87-90

The thing was something else. It was not on the levels of Mjolnir though and what was even more interesting was the lack of Uru in its make-up. Well, it wasn't made by the dwarves so it does make sense that they didn't have access to the Metal.

Something interesting to see was the fact that Loki's Magic was also being shown as it's fueling energy. The fact that Loki possessed Chaos magic was also a bit...concerning. That was reality breaking magic after all... I think Loki is someone I will have to keep an eye on then.

For now, my focus will have to be on the big armour approaching the city. It had already wrecked some cars that were in its way. It was enough to make people take the evacuation order seriously...or at least most of them. Of course, there were still stragglers around….I might as well get some goodwill then.

I turn back to Coulson," I say we focus on evacuation. "Let Thor and his buddies fight the thing for now. It's definitely in his league….Do keep Barton on standby and in a decent location at least."

Coulson nods as he pulls out his radio to issue the orders. Barton waves to us from a nearby rooftop and I give him a nod as my hand lights up with magic.

Supernatural events are known to this world by now and today will only expand on that. Sure, the MACUSA may get pissy, but this is different. This is magic aliens technically and I had nothing to do with it...

Things like Hydra, The mutants, Iron Man, and especially the Hulk were common knowledge after all, so SHIELD would also hardly be interfering now.

I would be getting rid of this identity soon enough, so it wasn't that big of a problem for now if I were seen. Especially as it is different enough to my actual appearance. Even compared to the one that the MACUSA knows of. I begin reinforcing my body and clothes in preparation. It was also rather good that my clothes were simple at the moment. Instead of the hospital scrubs, I wore a simple pair of jeans and a hoodie instead.

I started moving as soon as the mask was on and began racing towards any stragglers in town. I essentially created Portals behind them which lead to a temporary camp that SHIELD set up for the Evacuees. A bit of Wind magic and they were all launched through the portals.

It did lead to me running into Thor and his Human entourage, they were quite confused at what the hell I was doing. Thor however spoke up as he saw me, "Flame sorceress! What are you still doing here?"

I open another portal behind me. This one was considerably bigger than usual and would stay for now. The Evacuation point was clearly visible behind me, "I'm helping out, the same as you ironically."

I keep the portal open and Thor helps to direct some people in. The sounds of Battle were already echoing out behind them.

"I'm sorry, what? A Sorceress? As in more magic and-" Jane said in shocked fascination. Darcy Lewis on the other hand quickly interrupts her.

"Yeah, so? We have 4 peeps straight out of Lord of the Rings fighting a magic Space armour. The time for amazement is over, we have to get going, like, now!" She says as she drags her along.

Too bad that it was ill-timed as the fight was coming to an end. The building next to us was blown up by the Golem's Blast. Shards of glass and concrete fly across the street. Thor sees one of his comrades exit the building with a limp and a large gash on his head...he was the last one and the Destroyer was approaching our group now. To my surprise, Thor was already running towards the scene and was helping up his friends and directing them towards us.

As the defeated Warriors Three and Sif approach, Thor moves towards the Destroyer.

With Thor

The blond Asgardian was approaching the Armour that had wiped the floor with his friends. The only solace he now had was that they were behind him in relative safety and with their lives intact.

Thor knew that he was the reason and rather than conjecture why exactly Loki wished him dead...he was going to trust the Woman who had revealed so much to him…

"Loki!" The armour slows its approach as it nears him.

"I...I know you are in pain brother…" The armour continues on.

"But these people are innocent. My friends do not deserve your punishment and taking their lives will gain you nothing…"

Thor pauses as he stops in the street, his breath was uneasy and his face was filled with grief.

"So take mine… for all I have done to you, without thought or knowledge. I now know...I know where you come from." As he utters those words, the armour grinds to a halt in response.

"I didn't know about you….what I do know is that Father was right...he was right about me." The armour took a step back as it effectively stared at Thor.

"I was unworthy...unworthy of the throne, unworthy to be its prince and now I see….I was unworthy to be your brother…never heeding your advice..among other things… I could have been better but I wasn't." Thor breathes out as he stares to the side.

"While I can imagine that the revelation of your heritage made you turn against me...I want you to know. I always have and always will consider you my brother...nothing will change that...and I hope that when you end this...you will at least remember that."

A distant thunder cracked in the sky, slightly gaining their attention but not deterring him. The Armor after seconds of simple silence simply powers down, hunching forward like a lifeless shell.

Seconds pass, filled with confusion and anticipation. Thor finally steps back and sees the Hammer in the distance, a thunder cloud forming behind it as it hurls towards the town...he still believed he was unworthy. He had failed many people after all.

If Thor was being honest, he hoped that he was able to aid his brother at the very least.

To his surprise, the Armor relit itself once more. Its actions were different though. It first took in its surroundings before focusing on Thor. Its entire Stance and way of movement was different, as if...as if someone else was controlling it.

Thor realised this and before he could speak up, the Visor was warming up with the energy of the Odin force as it prepared to fire. But to Thor's shock and horror, it was aimed at his friends, centred around Jane Foster in particular.

He screamed out in terror as he willed the Hammer towards himself. The Weapon drastically gained in speed but it was not enough. The destroyer fired its beam…

Only for it to crash against a lone figure shrouded by azure flames. The blast did not explode but rather it was gathered right there. It was pierced by a black blade as the figure screamed out, "La Grondement Du Haine!"

The powerful blast shifted from its vibrant orange the cold blue of the flames surrounding them. Said flames fused together with the Destroyer's energy and launched towards the armour, sending it careening backwards as its hull began to heat up and melt.

The flames faded from the figure and an armoured woman with a veil beneath a unique Headpiece. A purple light shone from her chestplate and most of her features were concealed.

Based on the type of Magic being used, Thor could deduce though that this was the sorceress from before and to his surprise, she was far more powerful than he first imagined.

She approached him and gave a nod as she readied her two weapons. A spear with a flag attached and the sword with which she attacked the Destroyer. As she approached, however, a strange presence sent a shiver down Thor's spine.

The woman noticed it too and her flames started to flicker. She started looking around as if another enemy had arrived.

Thor, on the other hand, focused back on the approaching Mjolnir which, to his shock, wavered in its path, as if some force was interfering with its magic.

It did not stop the Hammer in the end, as it soon reached his hand, filling him with his power and restoring his armour.

Just as the armour finished materialising, he could see 2 figures approaching them from across the street. Their appearances were strange, but hardly of the concern that their presence was giving. They moved as warriors and it was obvious that they came for a fight. Their attention was not on the Armour however, but rather on the sorceress. These two seemed to be here for her then.

Thor pondered for a second if he should involve himself as he had his own fight, but the thought left his mind as quickly as it came. She had gone out of her way to help him with no clear reward promised or even possible. He would not betray her in such a manner.

Even though his mind was set, he still wanted a little bit of elaboration. He turned his head to the sorceress, "Friends of yours?"

He was answered with a scoff, "More like an ill-timed pest rearing its ugly head….This entire fight just got far more complicated I'm afraid. "

Her answer certainly raised questions, but for now, he prepared for battle against the three before them. It was time to see if his time as a mortal had made him weak. All the same, he'd fight till his last.

Author's Note:

So this is back. I'll be focusing on this arc for now and will then probably make chapters for the other stories.

As you will have noticed the chapters will be shorter from now on, but the time frame should be smaller at least. Hope you all enjoy the chapter and have a great weekend.
