Perhaps fighting alone was a mistake, Vabin pondered silently. Normally such a fight would have been simple. Dodge here, attack there, heal now. But he barely had the strength to swing and not single Crimson or Cerulean tear to spare. I single mistimed dodge would spell his downfall. All he had on hand was his Physick with a mix he had long forgotten, unused in his battle against the Elden Beast.
Barely dodging yet another swipe of the monster's large claws, Vabin retreated, making valuable distance to work with. With limited focus to work with, he had to make each incantation count. Currently, he could at most, cast 4 more Lightning Spears. He was broken out of thought when the Deathstalker lost patience and charged him. Rolling under the beast, using the opening to his advantage to slash the beast, only to find no purchase in the thick armor.
Dashing away once more, he peered at his blade. The Bloodhound's Fang was coated in rust, no edge left to cut even flesh, let alone the armor he faced. It wouldn't be cutting anything soon, but the blade still held a viable trick. A skill imbued into the blade from constant use, he could call upon it with a bit of focus. Pointing the blade at his enemy, he called out to it, hoping to enrage it.
"Come now foul beast! Is roaring all thou can do? As weak as thee are, I won't even dodge the next!"
Roaring in anger, the Deathstalker rose to the challenge and charge with all its might, fully prepared to crush Vabin. But to the beast's surprise, he disappeared. Using to blade's skill, Vabin performed the second half of the blade's skill, the Bloodhound's Step. Fading to shadow he stepped through the beast, reappearing behind it. With an arrogant smirk, he taunted the beast one last time.
"I lied"
Now with nothing ahead of it, the Deathstalker realized it had been tricked. All that lied ahead of it was a cliff. Locking its legs it tried to stop, but it was too late. With one last angry roar, it toppled off the edge, crashing harshly into the forest far below.
GREAT ENEMY FELLED
Raising the Fang to his shoulder, he peered over the edge. The beast was dead, yet he felt no influx of runes. Without runes, he no longer had a way to increase his strength, and without grace he had no way to refill his flasks. But it was not the time to ponder on his findings. The others may still have been in danger and he had no way to follow them with the bridge gone.
A loud roaring had him preparee to fight again, blade at the ready. Looking to the sky to find the source, instead of a threat, he spotted a large metal... Thing, descending towards him. In an opening beneath it's wings, stood an older gentleman looking down at him. Staying on guard as it came to land in front of him. Watching as the old man stepped off and approached. Coming to a stop in front of Vabin, he smiled and introduced himself.
"Hello there, my name is Ozpin. Might I ask who you are, and why you are here?"
Looking at Ozpin, Vabin made one noticed many things, from the cane he didn't use to walk, to gray hair that seemed to healthy for its color. But what truly caught his attention was his eyes.
"You have Golden eyes."
And I am back. Hello. A short chapter but I wanted to get something out so I can ask some opinions. With the RWBY Ice Queendom making some... changes to the RWBY universe, I wanted to ask if I should move forward with the old canon, new canon, or a cherry picked combination to make it work, seeinv as I will be making a few changes to it myself to get it to work with the backstory I have planned. Leave your preference in the comments or PM me.
And for that one review who said the Tarnished wouldn't trip over something, how many times have you rolled off a cliff, or got stuck on the environment? Because I do it all the time. So many deaths... so much rage...
