Chapter 27: From Kalos with Love Part 2

"Go, Dragonite!"

Ash's friendly Dragon Type grabbed him in a bone crushing hug, happy to be free. Ash laughed and returned the hug.

"Nice to see you too, girl. But we have a battle to win, so do you think you can let go please?"

Dragonite complied, swiftly flying onto the battlefield. Lucario raised an eyebrow curiously before resuming his fighting stance.

"Lucario, use Force Palm!"

"Dragon Tail, Dragonite!"

Lucario rushed forward, ready to strike Dragonite, only for her to swing her tail out and strike him. Lucario clutched onto the tail, trying to keep his grip as she swung him around.

"Ice Punch, Lucario!"

Having managed to get his grip, Lucario covered his hand in an icy aura before punching down hard on her tail, causing Dragonite to cry out in pain.

"Shake it off and use Brutal Swing, combined with Hurricane!"

Collecting her bearings, Dragonite began swinging around faster, creating larger gusts of wind as she went. Try as he might, Lucario couldn't hold on and was sent flying into a wall. Shaking the dust off himself, Lucario growled and stood up, ready to fight some more.

"Lucario, use Thunder Punch"

Growling, Lucario charged, fish charged with electricity. But as he got closer…

"Breaking Swipe, Dragonite!"

Just as Lucario was about to connect, Dragonite slashed him hard with her claws, sending him reeling back.

"Now use Hyper Beam!"

Before Lucario could recover, Dragonite hit him with a powerful Hyper Beam, sending him flying right back into a wall. But as the dust settled, Ash and his friends were surprised to see Lucario still standing, albeit panting heavily.

"No way! That attack should have knocked it out!"

"It gets worse. Now Dragonite can't attack for a while, making her a sitting Psyduck."

Sure enough, Dragonite fell to one knee, panting heavily as she struggled to catch her breath.

"Lucario, use Thunder Punch, followed up with Ice Punch!"

While Dragonite recharged, Lucario took advantage of her position and began pummeling her, causing her great pain while Lucario kept at it. Knowing that she didn't have the energy to counter, Ash could only watch as she took the attacks head on, defending as best she could until…

"Dragonite, use Dragon Pulse, full power!"

FInally having the strength to fight back, Dragonite let loose a powerful burst of energy. Lucario, who was about to deal the final blow when he saw the attack coming, could only watch in horror as the blast hit, sending him flying into a wall. When the dust had cleared, Lucario was back in his normal form, unconscious. It took Drone Rotom only a second to confirm the result before floating back to his position.

"Lucario is unable to battle! Dragonite is the winner, meaning the victor of this battle is Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town!"

"Yes, way to go Dragonite!"

"Dragonite!"

Despite being tired, Dragonite happily grabbed Ash into a big hug, making him smile.

"Good job, girl. Return!"

"As a result of today's battle, there has been a change in the World Coronation Series' ranking! Stay tuned for updates."

As the Drone flew off, Ash's Riolu bolted out of his seat towards the arena.

"Riolu, wait!"

But Riolu ignored her, running up to Korrina's Lucario and gently poking at him until he stirred awake. Lucario smiled, and weakly took Riolu's paw into his own, making the baby Pokemon smile.

A while later, Ash and the gang were having dinner at Korrina's house. Despite their objections, Korrina insisted, saying that she didn't mind. As such, the quartet were happily chowing down on Gurkinn's cuisine.

"Gurkinn, this pasta is amazing!"

"Totally! This is some of the best food I've ever tasted!"

"Thank you. I try my best."

Ash looked over at where their Pokemon were eating. His Riolu was sitting with Korrina's Lucario. The two seemed to be having a deep conversation, with the older Pokemon regailing the younger one with stories of fierce battles, his younger counterpart eating up every word. Ash smiled, before his phone beeped, Checking it, he smiled when he saw what the notification was.

"Sweet! My rank is now 999! I'm officially in the Great Class!"

"Congratulations, Ash!"

"Now you're one step closer to battling Leon again."
Ash grinned, full of pride before he took notice of something.

"Hey, where's Korrina? Shouldn't she be eating with us?"

"No, she has other dinner plans. Something about going on a date."

"Huh, I wonder who she's going out with?"

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Gurkinn got up to answer it, revealing a more formally dressed Clemont.

"Clemont? What are you doing here?"

"Here for my date. Where's-"

"Coming! Just had to grab my bag!"

Running down the stairs was Korrina, having let her hair down. Clemont smiled, and handed her a bouquet of roses.

"For you."

"Oh, how sweet! Hold on, let me go get a vase for these."

Korrina disappeared into the kitchen, quickly placing them in a vase before joining Clemont at the door, waving goodbye to her grandfather as they left.

"Bye, guys! Nice seeing you again, Ash!"

"Have fun! But not too much fun, alright?"

"Grandfather!"

After that exchange, Korrina and Clemont left, leaving Ash, Goh, and Lillie speechless. Bonnie looked at their faces in confusion.

"Yeah, they've been going out for a month. You guys didn't know that?"

"You know, on second thought, I think I'll just watch you."
Korrina sighed, skating to a stop while she watched her date quiver in fear. Clemont had agreed to give roller skating a try, so she took him to her favorite roller rink. But now he was having second thoughts, and frankly just looked ridiculous.

"Clemont, you've already paid for the hour. Come on, you said you wanted to conquer your fear."

"I know, but saying that and actually doing it are too different things."

Realizing she needed to try a different approach, Korrina skated over to him and gently took one of his hands.

"Would it help if I hold your hand? I promise, if you still don't feel ready, I'll help you right back here and you can just watch me."

Clemont nodded, and took her hand. Gently, Korrina guided him out onto the rink. Clemont wobbled for a minute, but Korrina wouldn't let him fall.

"Don't let go."

"I promise, I won't."

But after a few minutes, once she was sure he was comfortable, Korrina let go so gently he didn't even realize it. And lo and behold, he didn't fall. After a minute, Clemont started to pick up pace, and even started to have fun.

"I see why you like this so much. It's actually kind of relaxing!"

"Hey Clemont? Look down."

Clemont did, and noticed she was no longer supporting him. But instead of freezing up, he got excited.

"I'm doing it! I'm really doing it!"

"See, I told you you could."

"Come on, I'll race you!"

"Oh, you are on!"

And the two took off, their race ending in a tie as they both laughed as they collapsed in a heap back at the rink's entrance. All and all, they had a great night.
