It was the end of the week in the newsroom, Jimmy, Clark, and Perry were talking over a pitch of Jimmy's regarding the recent return of Starling City's favorite bad boy, Oliver Queen. Lois was at her desk attempting a discrete exit as she saved her work, shut down her computer, and quietly opened her desk drawer to remove the overnight bag she'd stashed there a few days before in preparation of her upcoming, and long awaited, relaxation time. Naturally, Jimmy noticed the bag and did not hesitate to ask where she was going, soon followed by Clark and Perry all wanting to know what she was up to.

Despite her protests that she was allowed to have a personal life, the men were convinced she was trying to sneak out for a story. Rolling her eyes, she produced her reservation confirmation only to be met with taunts over having reserved the honeymoon suite at the Lexor. Snatching the letter back from Clark's hands, she turned on her heel and marched out of the newsroom, the men's speculations as to her real intentions trailing her all the way to the elevators.

The check-in had gone smoothly, and she was soon up in her room, do not disturb sign on the door, jacuzzi tub filled with hot water and her favorite bubble bath, and her wrapped in the luxurious hotel-provided robe that she'd found in the closet of the bedroom. While she waited for the tub to cool a bit, she relaxed on the bed, unwrapping a chocolate truffle from the complementary gift basket, and turned on the tv. Much to her displeasure, everything on offer were romance films. With a disgusted huff, she turned off the television and made her way to the jacuzzi, sliding into the warm water and letting the bubbles and fragrance surround her as she relaxed against the side of the tub and closed her eyes.

The ringing of the phone interrupted her peaceful soak, with a groan she pushed through the water to the side of the tub to answer the phone. The moment she answered, she instantly regretted it, as it was her partner making a snarky joke about actually working when she ought to be relaxing. She was now convinced that one of his superpowers had to be ESP as the moment he inquired as to the view, Lois caught sight of what looked to be suspicious activity in the next building over. She could hear Clark talking at her at the other end of the line as she swam over to her purse to retrieve her binoculars.

To her surprise, Ian Harrington, the congressman from New Troy was covertly meeting with some guy while a monstrosity of a man who must be the other man's thug or henchman stood watch. She could still hear Clark trying to get her attention as she swam back to her purse and exchanged her binoculars for her camera, snapping pictures as the mystery man handed Congressman Harrington an envelope of cash, which the congressman quickly counted before shoving the envelope into the inner pocket of his suit jacket. The men discussed something quite animatedly as the unknown man pointed to several upcoming dates on a calendar. She absentmindedly said goodbye to Clark and continued to get the pictures of what looked to be illegal activity.

It wasn't until the men left the room and the water in the jacuzzi had grown cold that she realized that Clark, Jimmy, and Perry might have had good reason to suspect that she was incapable of relaxing.

"Just hear me out, chief!" Lois protested, following her editor, the newly developed photos she'd gotten over the weekend in hand.

"Oh, I heard you just fine," Perry turned back to her, "You think there are some sketchy back-room deals going on in that building across the way from the Lexor."

"That's right," Lois nodded, "And as member of the free press, I believe it's our duty to investigate."

"Meaning you want The Planet to put you up in the honeymoon suite of the Lexor for a few days?" Perry arched an eyebrow at his reporter, waiting a few moments before relenting, "Fine, you and Kent have three days to get to the bottom of this."

"Did you really just tell me to take Clark?" Lois huffed as Clark smirked, enjoying his partner's frustration a little more than he knew he probably should have.

"I heard him say 'Clark,'" Cat, who had been standing nearby, pouted.

"He definitely said 'Clark,'" Jimmy groaned.

"Do I have to take Clark?" Lois whined.

"Hey, it's Clark or no story," Perry countered.

"How would that look?" Lois insisted.

"Like two newlyweds in the honeymoon suite," Perry stated, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Besides, there's no way some high falootin' place like that is gonna sit still why we are conducting some kind of covert operation from their hotel. So, take it or leave it."

"Fine, I'll take it," Lois huffed, "Doesn't mean I'm going to like it."

"Great, set it up with the budget office then go home and pack," Perry informed his best writing team, "Jimmy, go get the equipment together to take to them once they are able to check in."

"On it, Chief," Jimmy rushed off.

Lois had already gotten on the phone with the budget office to clear the cost of the room while Clark was finishing up editing the story he'd submitted for the afternoon edition. Once Lois was off the phone, she informed him of the check in time at the hotel and what time to meet her at the Daily Planet to go over to the Lexor before she took her exit.

"Lois, what are you doing home so early?" Lucy looked up from the TV when her sister came through the door

"I have to go undercover for a story," Lois explained, heading into her room and pulling out her suitcase, muttering to herself, "I just wish the cover didn't involve acting like I'm married to Clark."

Naturally, Lucy heard her and began 'helping' her pack, which involved tossing every scrap of lingerie she owned into the suitcase, only to be promptly removed and set on the bed before the cycle repeated itself. After about the fourth time, Lucy gave her sister a stern look, "Lo, you are supposed to be a newlywed on her honeymoon with the man of her dreams… and is he ever dreamy," Lucy smirked, "I bet under that nerdy exterior, he's an animal in the sack."

"Lucy!" Lois scolded.

"What?" Lucy challenged, "That man is one of the best looking guys the Planet has, second only to Jimmy."

"Ugh," Lois groaned, double checking the contents of her suitcases.

"My point is that you're supposed to be in love with him," Lucy continued, "And it's generally expected that the newlyweds will be making love at some point. Any wife worth her salt would have some kind of sexy lingerie to slip on for their first night as man and wife."

"Clark and I are not going to be making…" Lois cut herself off, "We won't be doing that, not that it's any of your business, we aren't partners like that. This is a work thing, plain and simple. The staff can assume all they want as to what is going on behind closed doors, but we are going to stay strictly professional for this trip."

"Jimmy says that according to the office pool, the over/under of you two hooking up is a day, maybe a day and a half," Lucy teased her sister as she picked up an especially sexy black lace teddy and tucked it under her sister's clothes as Lois ducked into the bathroom to grab her toiletry kit.

"I just bet Cat is the one who started that office pool," Lois huffed, tossing her toiletry kit in the bag and closed it up.

"You're not wearing that, are you?" Lucy arched her eyebrow at her sister's suit.

"What's wrong with it?" Lois challenged.

"It just doesn't say newlywed," Lucy countered, "What time do you need to be there?"

Lois checked her watch, "Three hours, why?"

A grin split Lucy's face, "We're going shopping, let's go."

Lois rolled her eyes and followed her sister out the door. An hour and a half was all Lucy needed to properly attire her sister for her arrival at the hotel. Finding a dark peach-colored skirt suit with a pleated jacket and white blouse with lace accent. She even found shoes to match! Lois would never doubt her sister's ability to piece together a look in a pinch again. Returning to the apartment Lois got changed and hailed a cab to take her over to the Daily Planet to meet with Clark.

As promised Clark was standing by the curb in a dark suit, his suitcase by his side. When the cab pulled up and popped its trunk, he tossed his bag inside and joined Lois in the back seat, "I have something for you, or rather for us." He handed her a small grey velvet box.

Opening the box, Lois saw a simple solitaire engagement ring and wedding ring in yellow gold nestled on a small blue satin pillow. She shot him an inquisitive look only to be met with a sheepish smile as he raised his left hand to show the matching gold band on his left hand. With a sigh, she lifted the rings from the box and slid them on, a little surprised at how well they fit. Closing the box, she slid it into her purse and out of sight.

The ride to the Lexor was, thankfully, short. A couple blocks from the hotel, Clark insisted Lois snuggle up next to him on the car's seat. She initially resisted, only to give in and let him wrap his arm around her shoulders as the hotel came into view. When they pulled up to the entry, a thin man in the maroon and gold bellman's uniform of the luxury hotel came out with a cart, parking it behind the car before opening Lois' door, which was closest to the entrance, and offering her a hand up. As soon as she was clear of the car, Clark paid and tipped the cab driver before joining Lois where she stood on the large maroon carpet that led up to the doors.

Clark offered his hand to her, and with only a minor hesitation, Lois took it and walked with him up to the reception desk.

"Good afternoon, welcome to the Lexor where luxury awaits you, may I get the name for the reservation?" The front desk clerk inquired, her light green eyes sizing Clark up and giving a barely veiled look of disdain toward Lois.

"It should be under Mister and Missus Charles King," Clark informed her, using his default alias, "I finally convinced her to marry me," He gave Lois a, surprisingly believable, loving look before returning his focus to the desk clerk who informed them that she had their credit card on file and quickly set about making the keys for their room.

"Here are your keys, you will be in the honeymoon suite, the bellman will lead you up," She informed them, handing the keys to Clark, 'accidentally' brushing his fingers a little more than was necessary. "My name is Rachel, please let me know if there is anything, and I do mean anything you might need to make your stay more enjoyable."

"Thank you," Clark nodded with a genial smile. Lois didn't know if he was being deliberately ignorant of the clerk's clear flirtation, or if he was aware but just wasn't interested. Not that she would blame him if he wasn't, the girl's hair was a dirty dishwasher blonde and her pale skin, and practically transparent green eyes made her look jaundiced. "Don't be jealous, Honey," Clark wrapped his arm around her, speaking loud enough for the bellman to hear before dropping into a low whisper, his lips near her ear, his warm breath tickling her cheek as he whispered, "Why would I give any other woman my attention when I have the love of my life right here in my arms?"

The bellman, who had been waiting at the elevator for them, coughed to cover a chuckle at their antics. When the elevator arrived, he pushed the cart into the car and held the doors for them before hitting the floor for one of the suite levels. When they reached their floor. The three disembarked and headed down the hallway, the bellman in the lead. When they arrived at a door, halfway down the hall, the bellman removed a master key from his pocket and opened the double doors and pushed the cart through, turning a camera in his hands that Lois didn't recall ever seeing as he gave them a pointed look.

"Well, aren't you going to carry your bride across the threshold?" He insisted, "For good luck?"

Clark shrugged and turned to Lois who gave him a pointed look which she knew he was aware meant he should only do so if he had a death wish. Ignoring the look on her face, he scooped her up, much as he'd done many times before while in the guise of his alter ego, only with her fighting him a bit more. He playacted as if he was struggling to carry her, which wasn't entirely a rouse with all the wriggling she was doing.

"Come on, just a bit further," The bellman encouraged, "Oh, come on, she can't be that heavy."

"You'd be surprised," Clark gave the bellman a sheepish smile as he set Lois on the ground. Lois immediately lunged at the bellman the intent to destroy the camera and cameral holder clear in her eyes. Luckily for the bellman, Clark hurried over, pulling a struggling Lois into his harms and claiming she was shy to which the bellman gave her a knowing look and promised that the shyness never lasted long on the honeymoon before taking the cart into the bedroom to unload it.

"That smarmy, arrogant…" Lois huffed at Clark who had just flopped down on the couch, "He gets no tip!"

At that moment, Jimmy entered through the still open doorway, equipment bags over both shoulders and a tripod in his hands. He made a snarky joke about kissing the bride only to be immediately shut down. A moment later, Cat swanned in, giving Clark a flirtatious wave before activating the hidden bar, getting a seltzer water and taking a seat on the massaging chair.

"What part of undercover do you not understand?" Lois groaned quietly enough for her trio of coworkers to hear her, but no one else.

At that moment one of the maids came in with extra towels, a surprised look on her face to see multiple people in the suite. She made a comment about grabbing extra towels before quickly disappearing into the bathroom to place the towels she had in the bathroom. She promptly exited the room and continued about her duties as the bellman returned, noting the extra people and giving Clark a knowing look and approving grin. Informing them that he'd unpacked their bags and put them away, each on their own side of the dresser and holding out his hand expectantly.

Lois rolled her eyes and handed him a small bill only to be encouraged on by her cover husband to give the bellman more. Four more singles followed until the man gave up and exited the room, closing the doors behind him.

Once it was the four of them, Jimmy set to work putting together the surveillance equipment with Clark's help, Cat was happy in the massage chair, and Lois went to change out of the suit she'd worn and into something more comfortable for hanging out in the suite while waiting for Congressman Harrington and his cohorts to return. She pulled on a loose pair of lounge pants and her favorite oversized Met-U sweatshirt that she'd cut to hang off one shoulder.

By the time she'd returned, Jimmy was connecting the last of the cables between the various electronics and Cat was standing next to a somewhat uncomfortable-looking Clark, her hand playing with his tie. She shot a look at Lois' much more casual look and gave Clark a feral look.

"Let me know when the annulment goes through, maybe we can enjoy a honeymoon of our own once you're rid of the ball and chain," The gossip columnist purred before sashaying out of the room, giving Clark a quick fingertip wave and closing the door behind her.

"How do you do it?" Jimmy asked his friend and mentor in awe.

"I'm not doing anything," Clark shook his head with a sigh, sparing a quick glance at Lois as he continued to speak, "I don't encourage it, I actually try to discourage it. She doesn't take 'No' for an answer, and I'm out of ideas as to how to get her to stop hitting on me."

"Could you maybe try to send her my way?" Jimmy gave his friend a hopeful look, "Especially since you already have your hands full with Lois."

"I beg your pardon," Lois scoffed, staring daggers at the young photographer.

"No offence, Lois," Jimmy at least looked sheepish, "You're just really… intense."

Lois sniffed and flopped down on the couch fiddling with the knobs and buttons on the long-range transceiver they'd be using to attempt to hear what was going on in the office across the way.

"Jimmy," Clark got the younger man's attention, "You were wanting some advice? Here's a couple pointers, think before you speak, and quit while you're behind."

"I think you mean 'ahead,'" Jimmy corrected.

"Nope, I meant it how I said it," Clark shook his head at his clueless friend, "You should get going, we're supposed to be on our honeymoon… alone. Wouldn't do for the whole hotel to think the Kings are swingers or something."

"Might be a little late for that," Lois huffed, "Especially with Cat swinging by when we arrived."

Clark huffed a chuckle, "Be that as it may, probably not a good idea to exacerbate the issue."

"Gotcha, C.K." Jimmy nodded, "See ya, Lois, sorry about the wisecracks."

"Just don't let it happen again, Jimmy," Lois warned.

As soon as Jimmy took his exit, Clark went to change, emerging moments later in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt that clung enticingly to his muscular frame. "I can keep an eye on things for a bit, if you want to go change." He suggested.

Lois nodded and went to change into something a little more comfortable.
