[Only note before the story begins is- There will mostly be OCs, but I will bring in Canon characters at some point but my knowledge of the Halo universe is much better than my knowing of the Star wars, which this story will be based in, so don't beat me up it I get a few or a lot of details wrong.
Only warnings I have is there will be violence at some point yeh, but this story is also cringe for a couple reasons.
OCs
My knowledge of Star wars is limited, I know a bit but not everything canon so as I said, don't beat me up over mistakes because I'm not going strictly canon on this story
Grammer mistakes
Cringey idea
I have no idea how stormtroopers designation work
I would prefer constructive criticism over plain criticism so please make sure you don't outright make me feel bad about what I've written, that'll just motivate me less than I already am.
Anyway Enjoy]

Imperial Star Destroyer
The Thorn
Location; Somewhere :D
Admiral Parker was feeling perturbed, they had been sitting in space alone for what seemed like endless days, the mission he had been given was to catch some Rebels off guard, ambush them. Capturing and killing was the main goal but as he waited, nothing happened, Parker was beginning to think they accidentally chose the wrong spot to wait. The Admiral let out a soft sigh, and adding onto his worries the troopers have been coming to his General, speaking of something they saw but then disappeared as if they saw ghost. If The thorn was haunted that would just add to the trouble, especially if the troopers were avoiding a certain area in the ship because it was, quote on quote "Scary". What cowards.Speaking of cowards- "We'll certainly get killed for this if we're in the wrong spot" His General walked up besides him, voicing a part of his concerns. "Hopefully that won't happen" There was a slight nervousness in the man's tone, Parker gave General Harpy a look.
"Doubtful" Parker grunted in response, turning his attention to the endless stars. "Perhaps things didn't go as planned" Though if that was the case they would've been informed, were commutations down? "Try contacting the fleet, see what happened"
"Aye Aye" Harpy gave a shrug, which would've been disrespectful if Parker cared, despite being an Admiral he did have discipline but would rather not lash out like many others would when being disrespected so as the General tried contacting the fleet, one of the commutations officers caught his attention with a wave.
"Something wrong?" Parker inquired, walking over to the man sitting in the chair, the officer leaning down to listen to what he had to say, he briefly glanced at the nametag, Jorge.
"Yeah, there's some kind of situation down in the Engineering section" Jorge responded stiffly, "They need you to come take a look at something, they're saying they don't know what it is but it's been messing with equipment"
Parker paused for a moment before standing straight. "Then I'll head down and take a look" he concluded, motioning for his General to continue trying to contact the rest of the fleet as he made his way out of the room, giving a brief nod to one of the Stormtrooper commanders as he left. The Admiral wondered what the issue was, he felt like this was wasting his time but he was curious, he hoped it was important or else he might get more annoyed than he already is.
The engineering section wasn't too far from the control room, it was around a ten to fifteen minutes walk before making it into the room and down the steps. He was greeted by the head Engineer, Rolas. "Glad you could come down here in such a short notice, Sir" he spoke respectfully towards his superior. "Troopers came in to detain the intruder but scared the thing into hiding"
"You didn't just shoot it dead?"
"No sir" A stormtrooper jogged over, making a salute as he did so. "We didn't want to damage any of the equipment in the room, so we're trying to capture it per request of the engineers but uh"
Parker was beginning to get impatient. "Spit it out trooper I don't have all day"
"It floated behind one of the machines, we're having a hard time getting it out" The trooper responded awkwardly, stepping aside to show his point, a trooper were trying to pull something out from behind a generator, but fell onto his keister when he failed a soft coo came from some creature he's never seen before, through from his position he could only see the long necked of the three eyed head, the alien cooed in what he assumed to be curiosity, concern or confusion. "It seems relatively harmless, we just can't move it"
Parker moved to get a better look, walking around he leaned to the side and furrowed his brows. "What in the hell is that thing?" He mumbled, it was rather big, no taller than a man, probably around 5'foot something, it's color was mainly blue and purple with hints of pink, tendrils wrapped around a blaster keeping it away from a trooper as it curiously dismantled the weapon with tentacles lightly tapping the generator, the back of the body was much larger than the head, it looked like a bunch of gas bubbles put together, probably the reason it could float, behind it was another trooper trying to forcefully push the creature out from behind the machine without any luck.
"It's taking the damn blaster apart" He heard a trooper holler in dismay, trying to snatch his weapon back, the creature made a noise as it leaned away from the hands, he assumed it was either frightened or a brave thing.
"We dunno Sir" Rolas responded with a brief shake of his head. "How it got onto the ship is beyond me, but once we noticed it the thing had already taken apart most of our equipment dismantling and then rebuilding it seems, making it better so we're trying to capture it without harming the thing. We think it might be useful to the Galactic Empire- watch." He motioned to the creature, to which had started putting the blaster back together, but when it was finished the weapon looked different. Still the same but improved possibly. The trooper was given back it's weapon, much to their confusion. They listened to it's chittering and such before noticing the Admiral.
Still appalled by its appearance, the Admiral approached the creature cautiously, and without warning it moved towards him, causing the two troopers pushing and pulling to fall to the ground due to the sudden movement forward, it sang a tune, curiously inspecting the man in front of it, Parker cleared his throat to shake the surprise from himself. "Identify yourself, and your reasoning for being on this ship intruder" The creature all but cooed at him, lifting a tendril to pat his cheek, much to his annoyance, the troopers seemed to tense and started to raise their blasters but Parker held up his hand to stop them from doing so. "Don't fire"
"I don't think it speaks Galactic basic" An Engineer mumbled the obvious, earning a warning glare from Parker. Immediately he shut up. Parker turned his attention back to the creature, noticing it had harmlessly removed his blaster from it's holster, studying the pistol like weapon curiously before starting to dismantle it, Parker did nothing but watch as the creature did this, and then put it back together with what seemed like modifications that came out of nowhere. It gently handed his blaster back and he holstered it. That was fast.
"Could be useful to the empire, technology wise that is" Parker mused, lifting a hand and gently running a hand atop the creatures head which it allowed him to do so, closing it's six eyes with a purr. "Firstly, I'd like to figure out it's species if possible" His first thought of this thing was that it is harmless, no threat to them at all and most possibly a great asset. Must've snuck on when leaving the last planet they visited for supplies without notice, what a lucky find. "Escort it to the lab" Parker made his way to the exit, the creature following him in tow.
"Uh sir"
Parker turned and noticed it was still behind him. He furrowed his brows and then sighed. "I'll take it to the lab" Seems like the creature liked him for some odd reason. "Get your commander to meet me there, I'm going to put his unit in charge of watching this thing" The Troopers responded with a quick 'Yes sir!' as he left the room, creature in tow.

Couple hours later
"Y'know, it's kinda cute" A stormtrooper observed, patting the rather friendly creature on the head as they stood in the lab, it cooed in response and leaned it's head into his hand. "Backside is kinda ugly though, maybe we should cover that up" he pushed away a tendril trying to take apart his chest armor. "Clingy too"
The other trooper snorted. "Don't let it rebuild your armor while you're still in it" He retorted, watching his friend as the creature curiously studied them. "Happened to TK-199, apparently it improved the armor but it wasn't a grand experience"
"Very uncomfortable" TK-199, who was standing as far away from the creature as he could spoke with disgust in his tone. "Though I think this armor can take a few more hits before it wears out now so it's not like I'm not grateful of the upgrade"
One of the other troopers went to respond about how it didn't seem like that kind of upgrade when their commander walked into the room, he donned his orange shoulder pad proudly. "Can the chatter" he ordered, causing the stormtroopers to snap into position with a salute.
"Yes sir!"
The creature tilted it's head to the side before following along with its own salute, copying the soldiers with a chitter. The commander turned his attention to it. "I still have no idea what that is" He mumbled moving towards it, a medical trooper made his way over with a shrug. After the Admiral dropped the creature off in his care with vague instructions he didn't know whether to be annoyed, confused or disturbed, he just knew his orders were to protect and observe.
"There's no records of this creature existing anywhere in the galaxy" The MT explained. "Unless there's some planet the empire isn't aware of currently which is a possibility if you think about it-"
"Yeah" The Commander roughly cut him off, reaching up to poke it in the nose, in response the creature took his blaster from it's holster. "Hey-" he went to grab it back as his troopers snickered a bit.
"I think we should name it 'notorious blaster thief' huh?" TK-117 joked, nudging his buddy but quickly stood to attention when the Captain shot him a glare. The creature was already taking the blaster apart, the commander sighed and backed off.
"NBT for short" Another trooper quietly added on before raising his hand to grab the Commanders attention. "Commander Watch, Permission to name the creature NBT?"
Watch grunted in response. "Beats calling it creature" he mumbled to himself. "Permission granted" he responded, pushing away a tentacle trying to take off his shoulder pad. "Stop it" he mumbled in mild annoyance, he didn't know why he couldn't just shoot the damn thing, but at least it gave him his blaster back, modified unfortunately. "You mind us callin' ya that big guy?" He questioned it, the creature took a moment before nodding. Guess it did understand basic. "Great" he paused for a moment before motioning the troopers to stay in the room with NBT, stepping outside to answer his comms.
Once the commander left TK-199 let out a breath he had been holding. "Notorious blaster thief'?" He questioned indecorously. "That's such a stupid name" He didn't notice NBT taking apart his rifle for the second time that day.
"At least it's a better name than bubbles" TK-199 retorted with mild amusement, watching NBT tap 117s helmet with the modified blaster. The trooper huffed.
"Oh put a droid in your ass" TK-117 snarkily replied, snatching his rifle back from NBT. "And stop stealing my blaster already would'ya?" NBT cooed in response, the friendly creature than floated around the room, finding numerous items to dismantle and repair. "It's annoying"
"It's incredibly smart" MT pointed out, cringing as he was facing the backside of the creature, slightly backing away from it. "We may need to give it a wash though" he got a laugh from one of the other troopers, the Medical trooper shook his head.
"Really does stink" 117 snorted, on the wall next to 178 who was strangely quiet as always. "Wonder what it's been through- Hey don't touch that" he yanked his blaster back from the curious tendrils of the alien. "No, Bad NBT" he lightly tapped the creature on the forehead, he only got songy tune in response.
"Troopers, get into your positions outside the lab" The Commander caught their attention as he roughly pointed his thumb out into the hallway. The four troopers in the room glanced at each other. "We're jumping into hyperspace, apparently we were given the wrong info on where the rebels were going to show up. Now get your asses moved now" Without question the stormtroopers all jogged out the room. Commander Watch looked over at the Medical trooper. "Watch over big bumpy there for us, The Admirals got a list of questions for 'em later" he earned a nod before leaving to get into position with his team.
_
Another hour later
"We've already asked it a few questions before you arrived sir" One of the Engineers spoke up, for some reason the mechanic came into the lab in his own curiousness of the being. "It doesn't speak Galactic basic-" He knew that, Parker felt his eye twitch in mild annoyance. "But it understands us, usually responds with a nod or a shake of its head" He glanced back at the Stormtrooper commander who nodded his head. "And the troopers gave it a name"
"Already?" Admiral Parker quirked a brow, he supposed it was better than calling it 'Creature' he shifted to the side to look at the Commander. "Care to enlighten me?"
The Commander awkwardly shifted to the side. "My guys started calling it NBT" He said, patting the alien on the side of the head when it floated over to him, pushing it away from his position near the door. "Short for 'Notorious blaster thief' I believe" he sighed. That earned a snort from the general.
"Iconic." Parker drawled slowly, raising an eyebrow. He looked over at "NBT" and cleared his throat. "I'm aware you can understand me correct?" The theory was confirmed when he earned a nod in response. "Good, now I have a bunch of yes or no questions. I want you to answer them all honestly am I understood" Another nod. "Good" A coo from the alien.
"Is there any more of your kind aboard this vessel?"
A shake, No.
"You're the only one here?"
A nod, Yes.
Parker sighed. "Is there any more of your species in existence?"
Yes.
"Lots?"
No.
He furrowed his brows, makes sense if it was a nearly extinct species of creatures. "Do you know what the empire is?" He earned a slight tilt of the head. What kind of question is that? Of course it knows-
No.
Oh, so it didn't know. "Typical" he mumbled under his breath, leaning to the side to pinch the bridge of his nose. It made sense now why it was so curious and not frightened, he took a moment to study the alien for the tenth time that day, or night. You can never tell in space. "Are you able to give us an idea of what you are? Your species?" A coo in response, Parker grumbled. "Nevermind, we'll get to that later" he pushed away a curious tentacle trying to snag his hat, he turned to the Commander. "Get your troops ready soon, we're exiting hyperspace and will be entering the orbit of Tatooine right after" he earned an affirmative before once again, Commander Watch left the room. Parker pointed a finger at NBT. "And you, will stay on the ship"
"Coo"

First part, might not write the second part though, not unless I'm motivated enough to do so, sorry for it being rather short.
Adding onto that, I bet you guys already know that the creature is an "Engineer" though their true species name is Huragok.
