NBTs point of view
It wasn't often that Lighter than some meets humans and it wasn't often they'd spend more than a few days with them either, they usually spent their time helping the Sangheili, until they were separated. Lighter than some had gotten curious when they had first entered this strange grey ship, it was imperial yes, and they had gone unnoticed for a few days until the Admiral of the ship found them. When he first saw the human they were curious, like any other of their species would be if they were in their situation. After meeting the Admiral they met the Stormtroopers, they especially liked TK-178, apparently the trooper understood Lighter than some when they posed their tentacles, or sign language that the others didn't understand. Too bad the trooper was mute, so he technically couldn't translate that their name wasn't actually NBT, not that they minded but Lighter then some was a bit tired of being called anything other than their real name, and they hated being alone even more.
But at least the troopers left them with the Medical one when they went to eat in the cafeteria. Lighter than some wasn't doing anything, simply staring at the equipment, thinking of how it could improve such things, some they have never seen before, they knew that this "empire" was different than the humans they normally had faced in the past and it was intriguing to see how they operated, they weren't like the plasma grade weapons the Sangheili used, they were like some type of lasers, much more advanced than the "UNSC" from the Milky way galaxy.
"You want one NBT?" The voice of the Medic snapped Lighter then some out of their thinking, glancing over to the trooper with a tilted head they gently took the food being given to them and examined it, then gave it back with a shake of their head. Not the type of food they ate. "Ah, alright makes sense" the trooper took a bite, brushing his blond hair out of his face. "This is disgusting, but it's nutritious so I try not to gag while eating it" Lighter than some tilted their head to the side, nodding at the words being spoken.
Lighter than some perked up when they heard TK-178 walk in through the door, his shoulder slumping in a sigh, the Huragok posed. Done with eating?
TK-178 signed back. Yes, they were talking about things I didn't find interesting, so I left he shrugged his shoulders. Didn't really notice
Lighter than some thrilled. May I see your blaster? They inquired, TK-178 took his blaster from his holster, handing it to the engineer Lighter than some began to tweak some mistakes they made earlier, working too fast often did that and even though it's rare, their species makes mistakes as well. Have you not told your friends you can communicate with me yet?
TK-178 shook his head. Rather not be used as a translator when I can't really talk y'know? I'd need someone to translate for me. Lighter than some hummed, they understood what he meant, usually it was an Unggoy who would translate for them, he quite missed the squeaky companion the Sangheili allowed to travel with them. And no one really bothers to learn sign language anyway TK-178 decided to shift the topic. Never got around to asking, but how are you doing after- y'know
I'm conflicted, they're after me and I do not know why Lighter than some posed. And while you did protect me, I do not know if the rest of your crew has the same intent you do.
TK-178 paused. My squad likes you, they think you're getting attached to us That caused Lighter than some to cackle. And you can trust the Admiral, I know the guy works for the empire and all but he's not really evil evil like the whole galaxy seems to think
Politics?
Kinda, they have that where you come from?
I suppose it's a universal thing Politics are
TK-178s shoulders shook with silent laughter. You're right about that he agreed, he lowered his hands when he noticed the Medical trooper looking up from his papers, perking up he noticed the trooper in the room.
"Oh, sorry I didn't notice you there, do you need something?" TK-178 shook his head at the Head Medical trooper. "Then could you take NBT with you when you leave? I enjoy their company but I'm not too sure I enjoy their smell." TK-178 nodded his head again.
Lighter than some thrilled and chirped. Am I really that smelly? They inquired. TK-178 shrugged, motioning for them to follow. Lighter than some followed, letting one of their gas-sacs deflate just a bit. Be honest with me
TK-178 shrugged again. Sorry NBT, They should just accept that as their new name now. I can't really tell with my helmet on, I have a air-filter
And the others don't?
Mines custom
Oh.
After that they moved in silence, TK-178 walking straight and with a purpose while Lighter than some just cruised beside him, humming to the sound of machinery. "Ah, there you are" The voice of the Admiral made them pause a moment later, Lighter than some took longer to turn around than the trooper beside them but they saw the familiar sight of the Admiral, they still enjoyed looking at him and trying to imagine what gave him that scar on his neck. "Trooper I'm sure you don't mind me having NBT-" the name sounded a bit strained when he said it. "Come with me for a bit do you?" TK-178 shook his head. "Good, and go meet up with the rest of your squad, we are about exit Hyperspace" TK-178 moved away, nodding his head with a salute.
Stay safe
You too my friend
Lighter than some watched him leave, before floating next to Admiral Peter, listening to his words with interest. "You can understand me right?" They nodded, yes. Technically they learned english after the alliance with the humans of the "UNSC", The Admiral continued. "Good, because you are going to be meeting someone very important after we exit so I want to set a few ground rules" Lighter than some blinked a bit, someone more important than the Admiral of the ship itself? Must be a commanding officer like the Grand Admiral or something. "You mustn't take any of Lord Darth Vader's equipment, especially his lightsaber" Lighter than some would have to ask what a lightsaber was later, TK-178 was very knowledgeable, but who was Lord Vader? "And you mustn't mess with anything on his ship The Executioner either" They nodded, this figure must be dangerous by the way the Admiral spoke about him- but Lighter than some would try to listen to the commands they were being given. However even the faultiest equipment can distract them and when a Huragok gets to work you can't get their attention easily at all.
"Understood?"
If the Admiral could understand Lighter than some, he would probably hear a "Crystal clear", but they only nodded as they followed him to the front deck- they didn't know what exactly it was called. General Harpy, (Lighter than some didn't like the man very much but he did owe him for saving their life earlier-) turned to look at them, furrowing his brows.
"You went to go get that thing?" General Harpy uncrossed his arms, he swallowed slightly and downcasted his eyes at the look Admiral Peter gave him. "Does that mean that we are exiting Hyperspace soon?"
Admiral Peter nodded his head. "I brought NBT-" again, the name was strained but it was probably the only thing he had to call them, again, Lighter than some didn't mind. "To give them a brief rundown on what is expected and who Lord Vader is, so we don't embarrass ourselves in his presence"
General Harpy was possibly scared of this Lord Vader, Lighter than some guessed that because of his body posture, and the way he spoke of the man in question. "I just hope I won't have to be the one speaking" he seemed to shudder. Lighter than some wondered about this figure, how terrifying was he really?
Back to normal POV
TK-178 slowed down his pace once he reached the hangar, greeting his squad on arrival, Commander watch nodded to his arrival before making a headcount to all the troopers in the room. TK-117 leaned over to speak to him. "So, where did you go during lunch?" He got a shrug. "Really wish you'd talk sometimes man"
"Don't patronize him 117" TK-199 snapped at his teammate. "And be quiet before the commander-" he was cut off by the very man he was speaking about, the Commander snapped his armored fingers, surprisingly.
"TK-199, mouth shut and wait for me to finish with the headcount." The commander stared at the trooper as TK-199 yelped out an "Yes sir" and went quiet straight after that, though mentally thinking it was unfair that he got yelled at instead of 117.
178 just wanted to get this day over with already, he glanced up as the voice of the General came through the intercom. "Personnel should be prepared for the initial exit of hyperspace in the next minute"
hurray.
[Hi, more author notes. uhhh, ok so NBTs real name "Lighter than some" was revealed here, but will still be referred to as NBT. but uh, for some context I read somewhere that Huragok are named after certain attributes like their weight, so Lighter than some or Heavier than most- or Equal to some were choices. (I think)
I choose the name "Lighter than some"
anyway have a good day.]
