A New Beginning a New Adventure.

"Are you sure you wouldn't come?" Lissa asked struggling to turn to look at me. I was putting the final touches on her hair and she was still trying to convince me to come to some New Years Eve party with her.

"As certain as I was the last time you asked, Liss." Her shoulders sagged in defeat and I sighed. I really hated disappointing her, but I really was in no mood to hang out with those plastic bitches who always insisted on inviting Lissa. My dislike of them was bad on a regular day, but the fact that I was fucking huge and packed full of hormones probably didn't help.

"Isn't Chris going with you?" I asked getting started on her make up. She shook her head, causing me to almost stick her in the eye with the mascara wand. "Jesus Liss, sit still!"

"Sorry," She said. "And no, he's not. Something about how he'd rather hang out somewhere or something, I stopped paying attention when he said no."

"Well, you don't have to go, you know." Lissa sighed. I knew she'd much rather be anywhere but at that party, but her family's high rank and social standing pretty much demanded that she attended.

"I wish," She sighed. "I'll find some excuse to leave early. I'll feign illness right after I eat something. That ought to get people walking out the door, without question." I giggled.

"I've taught you well young grasshopper. I'm proud." We both laughed and I finished up her make up. She slipped into her dress and was on her way moments later.

With the house to myself for now, I entertained the thought of a nap. I was always so goddam tired now a days, but one look at the 5 million things I still had to do sent that idea flying far, far away. Instead, I headed into the kitchen to get started on dinner. Dimitri would be home soon and because it was New Year's Eve, I was sure he wouldn't be alone.

"Hey baby," Dimitri whispered pulling me into his arms and pressing his lips to mine. I would usually melt into his embrace and into his kisses, but now I pulled away in panic. I'd fallen asleep and I hadn't made any food.

"Fuck," I growled trying to rush off into the kitchen. Dimitri's arms were still wrapped around my waist but he soon released me when he realized I was dead serious.

"Roza, what are you doing?" He asked following hot on my heels. He grinned when he realized where we were headed though it took me a few moments to understand why. No food, hungry guests were not funny god admit.

"Y-you took care of it, didn't you?" I asked, staring out the open back door and out into the back yard where Christian, Mason, Eddie, Ivan and Ambrose, all friends of mine and Dimitri's were gathered around the grill.

"Not really, I tried calling to tell you not to make anything, but when you didn't answer, I figured you must have fallen asleep." I grinned, completely speechless as I stared at all the food.

"I love you, comrade." Dimitri grinned and kissed me again. This time my body melted right into his arms.

I wasn't sure how it happened, but from a simple gathering of friends, it turned into a family get together. Everyone had shown up, from Dimitri's mom and sisters with their kids to my own parents and Lissa's. Even Lissa had come back after leaving her party and I was enjoying every second of this. I always loved having family and friends around me, and not a single day went by when we didn't all see each other because we worked together, but it was rare, moments like these when we were all in one place, and totally relaxed.

"Oh Rose," Adrian gushed. "You are so gorgeous, practically glowing." I grinned and hugged him. Adrian was a longtime friend and had had a crush on me that lasted for years, right up until he met the love of his life, Sydney Sage. She was standing right beside him now and I pulled her into a hug, too.

"Oh my god," I breathed, catching site of the glittery object on her left hand. "Let me see!" Sydney was beaming now, her eyes sparkling like juleps as she trusted her hand in my face.

"Beautiful," I said admiringly. "Congratulations!" She grinned and everyone started praising the happy couple. Since everyone was distracted, I silently excused myself to the bathroom. My bladder felt like it was about to explode.

I was washing my hands when I felt it, a crippling pain in my belly. I swore and nearly doubled over, but it was gone in an instant. I straightened taking a deep breath as I tried to tell myself that it was ok, that I was ok, but the sensation of gushing water which I felt next shattered all my reassurances.

"Ok Rose. Breathe. Get Dimitri. Get the bag. Get to the hospital. Do not panic." I stared at my reflection in the mirror as I said those words and the excited glimmer in my eyes had a smile coming to my face. I had been waiting for this moment for so long and now, now it was finally happening.

"What?" Dimitri asked dumbfounded. "What do you mean the baby's coming?" I grinned, still riding that excited high.

"Just what you think I mean Comrade," I said patiently. "It's time. We're going to meet our little girl."

"Why are you still so calm then?" I just laughed. In the time since my water had broken, I'd taken a warm bath, gotten changed into comfortable clothes and now made my way to Dimitri.

"Because," I said smiling. "The moment we've been waiting for for months now is finally here. How can I be anything but calm?" In truth, I wasn't sure that calm was really the word that described how I was feeling, but I knew he was just referring to how I wasn't freaking out or screaming in pain.

"Comrade," I said after some time had passed. "We need to go now. I've been timing the contractions and they're getting closer together." Everyone had since surrounded us, making sure I was comfortable and calm, but now we really did have to get going. The contractions were about 8 to 10 minutes apart now, and I had no plans to have this baby in the car or in my own house.

By the time we'd made it to the hospital, that calm state from earlier had completely vanished. I was now a ball of emotions which were all aimed at Dimitri. Unfortunately for him, most of that emotion was anger, but I honestly could not help it. I was in serious pain now, but Dimitri was nothing if not calm and attentive, just his typical level headed self.

"She's in labor," He all but growled as he carried me inside. He continued to whisper comforting words in my ear as the nurses rushed around us.

"Oh, fuck! This is the worst pain of my life, Dimitri I…fuck!" His only response was to run his fingers through my hair.

"Ash," Said my doctor from around the corner. "I thought I heard a Hathaway in labour." She had been the one to deliver me, and apparently, my mom had reacted very much like I was right now.

"Alright sweety, it's ok, let's see how far along you are, ok?" I nodded mutely and grimaced when she told me I wasn't yet fully dilated. I didn't think that was even possible, not with the amount of pain I was currently experiencing.

My beautiful baby girl Aleema Alissa Belikova was born just as the clock struck midnight. I had not expected to ring in the New Year lying in a hospital bed, completely exhausted and sore, but I wouldn't have traded it for the world. The surge of emotions that welled up within me as Aleema was placed on my chest, her little hand wrapped around one of my finger while Dimitri cut the umbilical cord was so overwhelming and it burst out of me in a choked sound crossed somewhere between a sob and a laugh.

"Welcome to the world my beautiful princess," I whispered moments before she was taken away to get cleaned up and then I lunged at Dimitri. I kissed him hard and he kissed me back, even as he wiped the tears off my cheeks.

"You did it," He said softly. I shook my head.

"We did it, together. I couldn't have possibly done it without you." His smile was warm and soft, and as I stared wordlessly into captivating brown eyes so full of emotion, I realized that, this was the way we would always do things, together. This was a new chapter of both our lives, and I knew there were going to be times when everything became too much, but I knew once Dimitri and I were together, we would be fine.

Well, there you go, you guys! Happy New Year 2016 and I hope that it will be your best year ever! Now, don't forget to drop me a review!
