CORUSCANT - Jedi Master and council representative Mace Windu issued a statement today in response to recent comments by Count Dooku Serenno accusing the order of "Core World favoritism." Dooku, himself a former Jedi, claims the illustrious Jedi Order has purposefully turned a blind eye to struggling worlds in the Mid and Outer Rim, including his own home planet of Serenno. He cites crises such as the recent protests regarding the use of droid labor on Mimban and the border disputes on Anison as examples of the Order "clearly neglecting its duty to protect all worlds, not just those belonging to the Republic" and warns that if left unchecked, these conflicts could boil over into all-out war, leaving millions dead. "I trust that you, Master Jedi, do not want their blood on your hands," Count Dooku finishes.
In response, Jedi Master Mace Windu issued the following statement:
"The Order of the Jedi has guarded and defended the peoples of the Republic for over ten thousand years. This is a most sacred duty, and one we take very seriously. However, it has long been our custom to act at our own discretion, and we ask that Count Serenno kindly stay out of the business of the Order, as it is no longer his prerogative."
Grandmaster Yoda has refused to comment.
