A Speech to Die For
The crowd of people suddenly went quiet, as the best man stood up to give his speech. Harry's black hair fell over his emerald eyes, as he surveyed the room with pride. Harry looked down at his two best friends before starting his speech.
"If one of you was to have told me in first year that I would be here today, giving a speech to honor Ron and Hermione's wedding, I would have thought you were insane, but yet here I am. I remember when we all met. Ron and I were slowly getting to know each other as this girl with this thing of curly brown hair came in and rudely asked if were and seen a toad." Both Neville Longbottom in the audience and Hermione brushed a bright shade of red, but Harry carried on.
"For a while Ron and I were annoying little boys and were obnoxious to poor Hermione until we accidentally looked her in a bathroom with a troll. Apparently it's the easiest way to make a best friend. Nearly get them killed then save there life. Wait for laughter from sad accuse for a joke to die down. Oops guess I wasn't suppose to say that." The crowed laughed as did the rest of the wedding party.
"Through out the years at Hogwarts something happened between Ron and Hermione. Although they were too stubborn to admit it, we all knew they were falling for each other. I think it was most obvious in forth year when Ron got quite jealous about Hermione seeing Victor Krum. Then again who wouldn't be jealous of the guy who caught the snitch at the quidditch world cup? Then again he couldn't have been that good, they still lost the cup." Harry paused as the crowd laughed, including Victor Krum himself.
"That was when things got complicated. Lord Voldemort was back. Albus Dumbledore had told us to strengthen our bonds with our friends, and that's something these two defiantly did." Harry watched as the crowds' expression went from a look of fear to a comical one at yet another attempt of his lame jokes.
"Have you ever thought about how they refused to tell how the got engaged. See I have this theory about how it happened. Ron meant to propose but chickened out so Hermione had to do it for him." Ron's face turned crimson and Hermione giggle "Ah it looks like they proved my theory.
"All and all, I think what I'm trying to say is, after everything they've been through. They deserved to be happy and today I am asking you to raise your glasses to them" Harry lifted his glass, everyone following suit. He looked down smiling at his two best friends. He looked back to the crowd "To Ron and Hermione"
"To Ron and Hermione" The crowd echoed and Harry sat down, Hermione looked at him
"That was beautiful, Harry."
"Thanks 'Mione. I'm pretty good on the spot"
"Oh the sp-"Hermione stopped mid-sentence "You mean you didn't prepare a speech, like I told you to! Harry James Potter if it weren't my wedding day. I would kill you!" The rest of the wedding party laughed.
"Surprisingly, I believe you Hermione" Ginny said laughing.
