Back at Gravity Falls
13-year-old Mason (Dipper) and Mabel Pines were happy to be spending another summer in Gravity Falls, as they had Summer Plans for themselves and their Gruncles Stanley (Stan) and Stanford (Ford) Pines. The younger twins sat at the table going over their plans during lunch, "Mabel and I have a summer itinerary," Dipper began but was interrupted by Mabel "Dipper," she said rolling her eyes "Do you have to use nerd words?" The elder Pines twins gave amused smiles but said nothing. Dipper looked pointedly at his sister, "As I was saying before I was interrupted, since I didn't spend a lot of time with Gruncle Stan and Mabel didn't spend any time with Gruncle Ford, we devised a list of activities to do. Mabel, would you like to go first?" "Gruncle Ford," Mabel looked at Ford addressing him, "For us, we're going to do scrap booking, become sweeter buddies and do arts and crafts. Your turn Dipper." "Gruncle Stan, I want you to teach me how to box and the tricks of the trade. You were amazing when you fought those zombies off last year!" Stan, who was not use to getting complements, was not sure what to say, "Sure, kid, I will teach you to box and Mabel, Ford would love to spend time with you." Ford gave his brother a side glance before saying, "So, what family actives do you have planned for the four of us?" "Fishing," Mabel began excitedly, "Movie nights, bowling and camping!" "We thought fishing was boring until Gruncle Stan took us," Dipper said just as excitedly as Mabel. Gruncle Stan smiled happily at the twins and said, "Let the fun begin."
Summer fun delay
Both Mabel and Dipper got out of bed excitedly, they ran down the stairs to find Gruncle Stan making breakfast and Gruncle Ford reading the morning paper, drinking his coffee. "Morning knuckleheads," Stan greeted with a smile, putting breakfast on the table. "Good morning," the twins said, grinning happily, looking forward to the day. Ford folded his newspaper looking at the twins, "Good morning kids. What are your plans for today?" "I am going to don my Mr Mystery JR outfit and Gruncle Stan, his going to teach me to con customers!" Dipper said taking a sip of orange juice. Ford looked at Stan with raised eyebrows, he didn't want Dipper learning anything like that; Stan just shrugged uncaringly. Not to be out done, Mabel said, "And I am going to set up in the lounge, so we can decorate our scrapbooks, Gruncle Ford!" Ford gave Stan an uneasy look before putting a gentle hand on Mabel's shoulder. "Mabel dear, I have plans already, but can we decorate our scrapbooks tonight?" Mabel looked a little disappointed, but nodded understandingly. The phone rang and Stan got up to get it, he came back with a frustrated look on his face, "That was Mainly Dan, apparently Wendy has to look after her brother who is sick. I am going to need both of you in the shop today. We have a full house of tours." Stan looked at Dipper and said in an apologetic voice, "Sorry, kiddo, but we can always set up the boxing ring later, when the shack closes." Sadly, nothing happened that evening.
Summer magic
A week had gone by since they had that lunchtime conversation, and the twins were deeply disappointed that their plans to spend time with their Gruncles had failed. Wendy, who was back at work noticed this, looked up from her magazine and asked sagely "What's wrong dudes? You look like Debbie Downer!" Overhearing Wendy's comment, Soos entered the main shop. "I have to agree with Wendy, little dudes." Soos said, looking solemn. Mabel looked morosely at Wendy before answering, "We wanted to spend time with our Gruncles, but they keep coming up with excuses!" she said, throwing her hands in the air in frustration. "We do have a plan," Dipper said hastily, looking at Mabel. "We're going to need your help, Soos. Do you think you can be Mr Mystery for two days?" "What are you two up too?" Wendy asked suspiciously, putting her magazine down and folding her arms across her chest. Mabel looked innocently at Wendy and Soos, "We're going to use a temporary de ageing spell on them, they will be our age." "Don't worry," Dipper add quickly, "They will still have their memories, and it's just for two days." Wendy just shook her head and went back to her magazine. "I am totally on board, little dudes!" The twins went to bed early, calming they weren't hungry, Ford and Stan exchanged concerned looks but said nothing. When they were alone, Mabel asked, "Are you ready?" Dipper nodded with a grim expression, lighting the candle in the centre of the circle. They both began to chant, "Spiritus iuventutis nos operarimus vos ut temporaliter concedamus per duos dies Stanleium et Stanford Pinetam iuventutem tredecim annorum natorum." The candle went out. "Did it work" Mabel asked uncertainly. "We will know in the morning." Dipper said with equal uncertainty.
I am how old?
It hadn't gone unnoticed by the elder Pines twins, how depressed the niblings were looking, and they knew it was their fault. They talked about it last night and decided to spend some time with the twins like they promised. As Stan lay in his bed, he was looking forward to teaching Dipper how to box. He sat up and released, his feet couldn't reach the floor. "What the fuck," he thought. When he realized his slippers were too big and his nightshirt had suddenly become a 'nightdress'. Stan run to the mirror trying not to trip over his 'nightdress', he stared at his reflection in horror, staring back at him was a 13-year-old Stan. "This better not be permanent, he thought," in shock and terror. He didn't think he could handle going through puberty again! "Poindexter I hope you know how to fix this!" Stan thought going to look for his brother.
Ford woke with a start, as he heard his door open with a bang. He squinted his eyes to see an angry 13-year-old Stan stomping in. Ford thinking the shape-shifter had escaped from the bunker pointed his laser gun at Stan. "I don't know how you escaped the bunker shape-shifter, but you will not leave this room!" He said determinately, voice cracking. "Take a look in the mirror, sixer," Stan said through tears of laughter, his own voice cracking. Ford's eyes widened in horror, and he tripped over his nightshirt, causing Stan to laugh even harder. Ford gave him a dirty look and pulled a box from underneath the bed. He turned to face Stan with his childhood glasses. "Can you reverse this?" Stan asked hopefully, Ford shook his head seriously saying "It will wear off on its own, in a day or two, in the meantime let's find clothes that fit. Those kids are in serious trouble"
Stan and Ford expected to find the twins in their attic room, but it was empty except for Waddles. So they went and borrowed some of Dippers clothes, Stan muttering under his breath, "I look like a nerd!" He left the vest off and went to find a pair of scissors to cut the selves of the t-shirt off. "That looks better," he said happily. Ford rolled his eyes looking through Mabel's sweaters, finding a suitable one for him to wear, it was red with gold stars. "They properly in the kitchen, let's go find them."
Let the summer fun begin
Stan and Ford walked into the kitchen to find Mabel and Dipper waiting for them. "Mason and Mabel Pines, you two are in big trouble!" Stan said, his voice cracking slightly as he glared at the twins. "Well, what do you two have to say for yourself?" Ford asked, his voice cracking slightly. Mabel broke in to laughter, saying "I can't take you serious with that voice" "And you have the audacity to make fun of my voice!" Dipper said, annoyed, looking pointedly at Stan. Ford coughed awkwardly, "Dipper, Stanley and I were required to borrow some of your clothes. Mabel, dear, I hope you don't mind that I borrowed one of your sweaters?" Both Mabel and Dipper just shrugged. "Let's go," Mabel said impatiently, "Go where?" Stan asked, narrowing his eyes in suspension, "We're going to the Greasy Dinner, for Breakfast. We have been saving our pocket money, we're going to have to take the golf cart though." Dipper said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Ok, hunger people, let's go." Mabel said as Stan drove the golf cart to the dinner.
They found an empty both and Lazy Susan came to take their order. "What can I get for you kids?" she asked, smiling, "Four orange juices and four plates of pancakes, please." Mabel requested, smiling sweetly at Lazy Susan as she wrote everything down, after she left to go place their order, Ford asked solemnly, his head resting on his hands, "We are not angry, but why did you feel the need to use the spell?" There was a pause as Lazy Susan brought their orange juice. Dipper answered sadly, "Every time we wanted to do something, you were busy!" "We were desperate!" Mabel cried, her voice full of sad desperation. "Oh pumpkin" Stan said placing his hand on top of Mabel's, "We both sorry, but why didn't you come and talk to us? We would have made a plan." "We didn't think of that" Dipper said, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I am sorry," Mabel and Dipper apologised together. Ford and Stan chuckled as their food arrived, "I think we're all at fault, but we accept your apology," Ford said, grinning. "Lazy Susan, can you take a picture of the four of us?" Mabel asked "Sure can sweetie," Lazy Susan answered taking the camera and snapping a picture of them. The boys looked questioningly at her, but she just shrugged, saying, "Scrapbook opportunity."
Ford watched Mabel set up for them in the lounge to do their scrap booking. Ford looked forward to bonding with Mabel, he felt guilty for ignoring her and favouring her brother. Mabel put on her favourite music, Sev'ral Timez before handing Ford a scrapbook to decorate. "Thank you, sweetie," Ford said, smiling. They sat at the table, Mabel teaching Ford the lyrics to the song. When they were finished, Ford's book was red and covered in different science symbols, planets and exploding science beakers. Mabel's book was an explosion of colour, glitter, piglets and smiley faces. "Here is the first picture for your scrapbook," Mabel said, happily. It was the picture of the four of them at the dinner. They each inserted a copy into their scrap book and shared a hug. "Thank you, Mabel, I had fun. I can't wait to spend more time with you." Ford said fondly, Mabel beamed happily. Just then Soos popped his head in the lounge to say, "Time for lunch little dudes! Abuelita, cooked lunch for you!" Soos took a picture of them before dispersing in to the kitchen. Ford and Mabel shared a hug again before heading to the kitchen.
Stan and Dipper had set up their makeshift boxing ring in the back, Stan scratched his chin with his glove in uncertainty and asked, "Are you sure you want me to teach you and not Ford?" "I want to be a scientist like Ford when I graduate." Dipper said, and then looking at Stan with the same look of admiration he gave Ford, "the way you fought those Zombies and pterodactyl was amazing! Left hook and right hook! I want to be able to do that. I want boxing to be our thing." "I would like that too," Stan said, his voice tight with emotion. "Stand with your prominent foot in front, next bend your elbows, hands in fists on either side of your chin. Throw a right jab quickly punch your right arm forward, rotating your fist down, without locking out your elbow. A left cross punch, your left arm forward, rotating your left hip into the punch and lifting your left heel off the floor. Got it?" Dipper nodded, following Stan's intrusions until Stan nodded and said, "Good, I want you try and hit me." Dipper was nervous. Stan kept bobbing and weaving, but Dipper managed to get a hit in, and Stan beamed proudly at Dipper. Wendy came and stood outside Dipper and Stan's make shift boxing ring, before saying, "Time for lunch! Soos's, Abuelita, cooked lunch for you!" After taking a picture of them in the ring Wendy went and joined Soos in the kitchen.
Later that evening, they had decided to camp in the lounge and watch a movie. Ford and Mabel were adding the photos to their scrapbooks that they had gotten from Wendy and Soos. "I can't wait to watch Duck-tective the movie" Stan said happily. They were munching away on popcorn and drinking Pitt cola. Later the four of them crawled into their pillow fort and cuddled together to sleep.
Summer promise
They woke up the next day to find Wendy making breakfast for them, smiling as she plated the breakfast, she asked, "What have you dweebs got planned for today?" Stan gave Wendy an unimpressed look before saying, "We're going fishing today." "I will pack you guys a picnic," Wendy said absently, take the dishes to be washed.
They arrived at Lake Gravity Falls to find it a perfect day for fishing. They took the Stan'o'war fishing boat out. When they found the perfect spot, Mabel took a picture of her young Gruncles together with her brother, then swapped places with Dipper and had him take a photo. Mabel was the first to catch a fish, "I caught something! Her face red with excitement, Dipper took a picture before throwing the fish back in. Stan managed to catch a boot, causing him to go red in embarrassment. "At least I can use it in the gift shop," he said in a huff, putting the boot in the boat. Dipper caught a small mermaid statue with 'cursed' written on it, which Ford promptly grabbed and threw back. "I think we've had enough of that!" he said hastily, Mabel and Dipper nodded in agreement with Ford. Come lunchtime, they were hungry. "What did Wendy pack?" Stan asked hungrily, rubbing his hands together. Ford handed him a Pitt cola and two ham sandwiches with cheese and tomato on. After lunch, Stan retold some of the jokes he told them last time, everyone was having a good time, even Ford managed to catch a fish. At the end of the day they went back to the shack with their family love renewed.
The younger twins entered the kitchen the next morning to find the older twins waiting for them, breakfast was already on the table, and they were both drinking their morning coffee. They were disappointed to find their Gruncles their original age. "Why so glum?" Ford asked, going through a book in front of him. Mabel and Dipper exchanged gloomy glances before Mabel answered, "now that you, your real ages, you're going to be busy again." Stan looked at Mabel and said gently, "Never, we promise. Besides, I need Mr Mystery JR to help me hustle customers." He added the last bit looking at Dipper who jumped up in excitement to go change. "I am going to need my sweeter buddy, for fun activities." Ford hinted looking at Mabel. He had work to do in the lab, but it could wait till the twins had gone to bed. It was going to be a great summer.
