I'm suddenly in the mood to write part of this story about but I think I'm just going to do some one shots (or two or three parts) from events that happen in Coronation Street and then different ways that Grace is included in these events. Please review and let me know if you have any scenes that you want to see.

March 2017

Grace snuggled up underneath her duvet on the sofa. She just wanted this all to end. She didn't know how much more she could cope with. She was completely on her own. Even when people wanted to speak to her, she didn't want to speak to them. They wouldn't understand.

She refused to allow anyone into the flat. She had both locked the door and put the chain on. Eva had been trying to enter the flat since Wednesday. She had a key but Grace kept the chain on. Eva was very worried about the girl but Grace refused to allow her in. Eva would eventually give up as long as she had noticed some prove that the girl was alive.

It was Friday now, and Grace remained on the sofa in the living room. She was so tired but she just couldn't sleep. Eva had been at the door twice now, she had shouted through the door that Grace needed to come to Kirk's tonight as there would be a surprise. She knew right there and now that there was no way she was going to be going to her uncles.

The day dragged, Grace just sat their staring into space or trying to get sleep but knowing that it wasn't going to happen. She occasionally ate, but never much. She looked at the coffee table where a pizza box lay with another two takeaway boxes. She knew that she should take them to the bin but she just couldn't move. She knew her mother would be mad at the mess but that was the end of her worries.

She jumped as she heard a knock at the door. She looked outside and noticed that it was after 6 o'clock now. She was sure that it would just be Eva again. The knocking started again and this time it got louder.

"Grace, can you let me in? It's freezing out here?" A voice called through the door. Grace froze, that wasn't the voice she was expecting. She waited again. She heard the door open but it only got so far because of the chain.

"Grace, let me in" Maria said a lot firmer this time. She knew that for the door to be locked that her daughter had to be in.

"Grace, I'm going to close this door and I hope that when I open it again in two minutes. I can get in" Maria instructed sternly. Maria did as she said. She hesitantly opened the door and was relieved that she was able to open the door fully.

Entering the living room, she was not impressed with the mess. She knew that it was risky leaving a 18 year old home alone for months on end but previously Eva and Kirk had been in to help out. They made sure that the living conditions were suitable.

"Grace, what's going on?" Maria asked as she sat down carefully on the side of the sofa.

"Grace, this really isn't like you" Maria said as she turned to look at her daughter, well as much as she could given that the girl was hiding underneath the duvet.

"Talk to me" Maria begged and Grace shook her head. She couldn't tell her mother, she just couldn't. The woman would be so mad at her.

"Come here" Maria said softly as she opened her arms to her daughter. She didn't think without her first hour of being released, she would be dealing with a very upset daughter.

Once snuggled up with her daughter, Maria moved the girl's hair so that she could see her face properly. She was unsure what would be looking back at her but was shocked by the blankness that covered her daughter's face.

"Why did you stop visiting me?" Maria asked and Grace shrugged. She couldn't think of an answer. Up until about a month ago, the girl had been regularly visiting her mother and keeping her up to date on everything that was going on in her life. Grace was in first year of University at the Manchester Metropolitan and was studying social work. She commuted from her mother's flat. Although it was a lot of work, having the flat on her own just now. She knew that it was only going to be while her mother was away. She also had plenty of family around to support her.

"I thought I had done something wrong, that you were angry at me" Maria explained, and Grace shook her head. That definitely wasn't the case.

"Will you come with me to Uncle Kirk's?" Maria asked softly. Grace looked around biting her lips. She hadn't been out of the flat in 3 days. She didn't want to but how could she explain that to her mother.

"Please, just for a little bit" Maria encouraged. She pulled the girl up from the sofa. She looked at the girl and noticed that she had baggy joggers on and a grey jumper three sizes too big for her. Her hair looked like it needed a good wash and she had no makeup on her face. Maria knew it would be pushing it if she demanded the girl freshened up.

They left and headed to Kirk's house. Maria knocked on the door and was greeted by Kirk who pulled her in for a massive hug. Maria smiled. She had missed her brother a lot. She walked into the living room where the others were standing with party poppers. Maria was so happy to see them. Liam ran into his mother's arms. Maria thanked them for looking after her children. Grace remained hidden behind her mother, trying to blend into the background.

"Why haven't you been answering the door" Eva asked as she walked around towards the girl. "I've been really worried about you."

"Sorry" Grace said. She was sorry that Eva had been worried, but she just didn't want to talk to anyone just now. Grace nervously looked around, she hoped that they wouldn't be staying too long. She just wanted to go back and hid in her room. She subconsciously rubbed her stomach, she was hurting now.

"Are you okay?" Maria asked noticing the action. Grace nodded her head.

"Shall we go home now?" Maria asked about an hour later. Grace nodded and instantly headed to the door. She wanted to get away before her mother changed her mind. Maria said goodbye to everyone before leaving the house with both children. She held onto both of their hands and guided them to the flat.

Once in the flat, Maria put Liam to bed. She spent more time putting Liam to bed than previously but she had really missed him. She took time reading him an extra bedtime story and waited until he was fully asleep before leaving.

Walking into the living room, Maria was expecting to see her daughter sitting waiting but the girl was not there. Maria quickly changed into her pyjamas before going into the young woman's bedroom. Maria noticed that Grace was pretending to be asleep.

"Grace, I'm your mother. I know you very well. I know that you are not sleeping. Come on, look at me sweetie" Maria said as she slipped into bed with her daughter. Grace slowly opened her eyes and looked at her mother. Seeing her mother's loving look was enough to send the girl into floods of tears.

"Oh baby" Maria said as she pulled her daughter into her arms. She held her close and waited until she stopped crying. She was worried about her daughter and hoped that the girl would speak to her.

"Please tell me what's wrong baby? Nothing can be this bad surely" Maria said as she held the girl tightly.

"You will be mad at me" Grace sobbed.

"I won't be mad, I'm sure its not as bad as some of the stuff I have done" Maria said trying to make the girl feel better.

"It's worse" Grace said.

"Have you murdered someone?" Maria said and Grace just threw herself at her mother sobbing. Maria was even more confused, she was so sure that the girl wouldn't have murdered anyone but what was the reaction for.

"Please tell me" Maria begged. She was extremely concerned now.

"Mum, I was so silly" Grace said, and Maria just nodded allowing the girl to continue. She knew that she needed to give the girl time. Grace studied her mother carefully before continuing.

"I left uni" Grace admitted.

"Why?" Maria asked shocked. The last she heard; her daughter was loving the course.

"I can't go back" Grace said starting to get tearful again.

"Tell me why?" Maria encouraged softly.

"I made a really silly mistake" Grace said again, and Maria nodded giving her daughter some time.

"We went out on a night out; you know with the people from my course. I had a lot to drink. Way too much. I ended up going home with Graham" Grace explained sheepishly. She glanced at her mother to see what her mum's reaction was. She was embarrassed to be discussing this with her mother. Maria nodded. She was confused as to how this had caused so much upset. Her daughter was 18 now, the girl had never had a proper boyfriend and Maria hadn't pushed it. She knew that it would be difficult due to Grace's past. It was obvious that something had happened with her and Graham. She hoped that the girl would have waited until she was in a loving relationship, but she wasn't angry at the girl.

"What happened?" Maria asked wanting to make sure that everything was consensual.

"We slept together" Grace admitted nervously barely speaking above a whisper. Maria nodded.

"We went back to University and it was just so awkward. He asked me out, but I just don't like him in that way. He was all embarrassed and then they turned it on me. They said that I had been leading him and I was doing it on purpose but I wasn't. They sided with him and then…" Grace mumbled off and refused to look at her mother. Maria nodded understanding how this might have upset her daughter.

"And then what?" She asked taking the hint that they weren't at the end of the story. This was when the tears returned.

"We were drunk, we didn't use anything" Grace admitted, and Maria instantly knew where this was going. She knew that she shouldn't be angry, but she thought that Grace knew better. Over the years, they had had many conversations about sex and Maria had always made it clear that Grace would speak to her about birth control when the time came. She needed to calm down.

"So you are pregnant?" Maria asked and Grace looked at her mother trying to gauge her.

"I was" Grace admitted. Maria was shocked.

"Did you miscarry?" Maria asked and Grace shook her head allowing the tears to slip down her face.

"What then?" Maria asked confused.

"I had an abortion" Grace admitted before bursting into tears. Maria wasn't expecting that.

"Who went with you?" Maria asked.

"I went on my own" Grace confessed her voice barely louder than a whisper. Maria's heart broke, her daughter had gone through that all on her own. Maria pulled the girl into her arms and rocked her until she stopped crying again.

"When did you go?" Maria asked softly.

"I got the second pill yesterday" Grace admitted.

"How do you feel?" Maria questioned and Grace shrugged.

"I'm bleeding quite heavily and my stomach hurts" Grace explained.

"Let me go and get you a hot water bottle. I think some hot chocolate is needed too" Maria said and Grace nodded. She did feel a lot better now that she had told her mother but still knew she had a long way to go.

She had really needed her mother and was so glad that she was back.

Maria returned 5 minutes later with the hot water bottle and hot chocolate. They snuggled up on the bed together and Grace spoke to her mother. She had needed this and missed it in the last 3 months. Maria just listened, she responded when required but mainly she just listened. It was what they both needed.

About an hour later, they both drifted off to sleep in each other's arms. Maria was back now and she was never letting go of her children again.
