Fred here. I'm trying out all aspects of story writing, so here is a one shot. Interpret as you wish. I tried not to make it typical. Hope you like it!
For SpiderSquirrel. I kept the fluff out for you.
Raven stared out at the storm, watching the lightning strike a tree in the distance. The tress burst into flames and small missiles of bark flew in all directions. Thunder roared and wind tossed debris high into the air, but Raven watched all the destruction from safe inside her T-shaped refuge.
So caught up in the storm was she, that she did not sense the intruder in her space until they placed a hand on their shoulder. Raven lifted her head towards them and let her eyes adjust to the bright colours of their attire. Robin's domino mask looked down at her as she sat lotus style on the floor.
"Powerful, isn't it?" He murmured, a crack of thunder almost extinguishing his words.
Raven took into account his careful avoidance of the words 'creepy' or 'scary' and felt a small trickle of gratitude seep through her cold walls.
Raven turned back to the window, the storm still raging, but now heavy sheets of rain blocked the view. Lightning illuminated the room, casting strange shadows over their faces. She sighed and got up, stretching as she did so, relieving the tension in her muscles. Robin watched her carefully. She had been sinking back into isolating herself from everybody again.
Raven noticed his stare and reached to pull her hood up. Robin's hand leapt out and snatched hers in mid air.
"Don't." He said, seriously.
It was Raven's turn to regard him, trying to find a suitable explanation for this sudden outburst. Her gaze fell down to her hand, which was still clutched in his. Robin followed her gaze, but refused to release his hold on her small hand. Soon Raven had had enough, and she tugged it from his grasp and threw her hood up over her face.
Staring at him from the dark protection her hood gave her, she said,
"Why not? And left without giving him a chance to answer.
Robin frowned and shook his head; he would have thought it was obvious.
If she had her hood up, she wouldn't see the storm in its true beauty.
