Charlie and Kouga, each with a beer in hand, left for the living room and talked sports. Bella and Souta pulled out their homework, while Kagome and Ayame started dinner. Not long after, they got even more visitors. Kagome heard her father greet them at the door and waited for them to come into the kitchen. Kouga came in before them and lean into Kagome's ear whispering, "The boy has turned. He's a wolf." Kagome nodded and shared a look with Ayame. Tonight might not go as smoothly as they hoped.

Bella spoke up causing them to turn away from the stove, "Jacob, you cut off your hair!"

"Yea, I just got tired of it." The wolf boy answered. Sitting in a wheelchair in front of him was his father, the elder that they needed to talk to.

Charlie introduced them, "Guys this my youngest Kagome, her younger brother Souta and her friends Kouga and Ayame." He carefully pronounced their names. "And this is my friend Billy Black and his son Jacob."

Kagome walked up to Billy and gave her hand to shake, "It is very nice to meet you." She allowed her aura out to be felt by them both.

Billy stared at her wide eyed for a moment then smiled taking her hand and shaking it. Jacob completely tensed, confused by it all. He didn't understand what was going on. The daughter seemed and smelled strange but her friends smelled like wolves. Billy turned around and patted his arm, "We are happy to finally meet you too."

Kagome smiled back at him, "Has dad talked to you about helping me with my history project?"

Billy gave Charlie a look, "No but I'm sure he was getting around to it." Charlie took a sip of his beer to avoid answering. "What kind of project is it?"

"I have to write a report on local legends. Word is that you know a few stories." Kagome gave him a knowing look.

Billy nodded, "Yea I know a few." He gave her a look that said later.

Kagome gave a smile, "Well the project isn't due until Monday. Why don't I come by your place tomorrow and we can talk then?"

Billy accepted and the men went into the living room. Jacob followed his father, not trusting him alone with strangers. Kagome and Ayame shared a sigh and got back to work cooking dinner. When it was finished, Kagome passed around plates of Pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet peas and corn on the cob. Charlie, Kouga and Billy seemed to be getting along great, but Jacob was still tense. Kagome hoped that he didn't freak out. She poured calm into her aura to help but he just frowned at her, so she stopped.

Kagome went back into the kitchen and buried her face into Ayame's neck. Ayame wrapped her arms around her, feeling the stress building in her friend. Kagome sighed, letting her stress go. Ayame rubbed her back, "It's gonna be okay, I promise."

Kagome nodded into her neck and felt another person hug her from behind. "Hey, no need to worry yet!" She heard Kouga whisper into her ear.

Kagome leaned her head back, letting it lay on Kouga's shoulder, "I know but his nervousness is making me nervous."

"He's just confused. He won't be so bad when we get the chance to explain." Ayame reassured her. Kagome nodded. Kouga gave Ayame a kiss and Kagome a kiss on the cheek, then went back into the living room. They would just have to wait until tomorrow.
