Just an accident.
synopsis : In which Botan gets eliminated from a tag game in the best way.
It was one of these afternoons the gang was in a particularly bored mood. After fooling around inside the temple, in search of something -anything- they could do other than bicker and fight over the only available console, they decided -with the suggestion of Yusuke- to have some fun and reminisce their early years by playing conventionally childish games.
Some voting ensued and their choice fell on a game of Manhunt in the woods surrounding Genkai's temple.
They thought it would be the ideal place to do it. Not only were they shielded from judging gazes of passersby (who would probably be bewildered at seeing a bunch of grown ups running around like elementary schoolers), but it was also a vast place with a lot of good hiding spots and traps.
The perfect playground for such an atypical group.
They originally started as 8 players : Kaito (whose main reasoning behind his participation was to try and best Kurama at something), Yukina, Kuwabara, Keiko, Yusuke, Botan, Yanagisawa, George and Kurama.
Even though Hiei had categorically refused to take part in their stupid game, he still secretly followed them around, observing the gang with curiosity and mild astonishment at humans' games foolishness. When he got called out by both Yusuke and Kurama, he claimed the only reason he was still there was to keep an eye on Yukina. Which was not completely wrong.
After a draw, it had been decided that Kurama would be the hunter.
The ferry girl was originally, just like the rest of the gang, not too optimistic about winning against the fox. But with how long she was able to stay in the game so far she thought she still had a small -tiny- chance to do so.
Her confidence grew even more when she realized it had been over fifteen minutes since Kaito, one of the last standing players along her and Yusuke, had been eliminated. Kurama was quick to act the moment he detected one of them so surely he would have caught her by then if he knew where she was hiding, right?
When another five minutes had passed by and with that thought in mind, her confidence at possibly outsmarting the fox grew beyond measures.
However she had, unsurprisingly, shouted victory a bit too soon.
xxx
It was an accident.
Her running straight into the one person she had to avoid was just her usual bad luck.
Losing her balance and colliding with him was something she wished she avoided.
Falling over and kissing him was not in the plan.
And she surely did not expect him to kiss her back.
She stayed still, her hands resting on both of his shoulders as she was trying to find the strength and will to push herself off of the red head and apologize. However, the way he was slowly and sensually moving his lips against her own made all reasoning fly out of the window, and she eventually allowed herself to close her eyes.
She felt his hand brush her side, the small action soon followed by his arm wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer. But as she was about to return the kiss, he separated his lips from hers, ignoring the disappointed glare she shot him, and cocked his head to the side, his expression unreadable.
It took Botan a few seconds before realization slapped her across the face. Her hands flew to her mouth and she hurriedly stood up from the ground, all the while trying hard to come up with an apology "I-I'm so sorry, Kurama, I-I d-didn't- Well, you see, I-I-"
However, he didn't let her finish as he, too, stood up, walked up to her and stole her lips once again, this time in a quick peck before pulling back and flashing her the sweetest smile she knew he could manage "I thank you for this wonderful moment Botan, but I fear you're out of the game."
With only that much of an acknowledgement, he brushed past her and started walking in the opposite direction she came from, leaving the deity gaping wide eyed at him. She blinked a few times and as the initial shock of their kisses died down, her mind started to gradually register what he said before and her features contorted in a deep scowl.
That fucking-
Remembering why they were in the woods in the first place, she sharply turned around, yelling indignantly "Screw you, Kurama! That's cheating!"
"Not if you were the one to run into my arms." he shot back at the fuming girl with a smirk.
When it came to claim victory, all shots were allowed.
I was supposed to upload another one, but just found Just an accident and decided to publish it since it was already finished lol. This one shot wasn't something too crazy but oh well
h114 : thank you so much! he'll eventually get another opportunity in a future update ... maybe? Nn I actually wrote a « sexier » 3K-4K something one shot of this pairing and I'm still debating on whether I should post it or nah XD
