The Secret
Haley walked towards her English class when all of a sudden a hand grabbed her pulling her into a dark room. She was shocked at first as she was encased in darkness but when she felt lips on hers she knew exactly who had pulled her in the dark space and she quickly returned the kiss.
"I'm going to be late for English." Haley mumbled taking a breath breaking their kiss.
"So you're going to be late." Sam quipped before quickly capturing her lips again.
Haley and Sam had been sneaking around for the past 4 weeks, stealing moments and kisses whenever they could and although everything was a secret Haley had never been happier and with that thought she wrapped her arms around Sam's neck kissing him deeper.
Flashback
Haley pulled away Sam her fingers touching her lips.
Sam had just kissed, she had just kissed her best friend and although she had been thinking about this moment for some time, that was before they stopped being friends, before Sam chose Chrissie.
"Hales" Same spoke taking a step closer to her. Haley took another step back recreating the gap between them
"What was that?" Haley whispered out. It was more a question to herself but Sam answered.
"I'm sorry Haley. I'm sorry for everything." He moved closer to her again this time his hand resting on her cheek making her look at him. "I've missed you. I tried pushing you away I tried pushing this away, my feelings for you but..."
"You really hurt me Sam."
Sam watched the tears glisten in her eyes and he hated seeing that. He knew from that day in the diner that he broke her heart when he told her he was picking Chrissie. He knew that because it broke his heart to do that to her.
But his brother had been right Haley was special and made for greatness and if he was going to do this then he needed to be 110% sure and he right now after everything he was.
His life had not been the same without her in it.
He was miserable and after the commotion last night, some guy grabbing her, the fallout with Jax all he wanted to do was to be with her. He had thought about her all day so when he had finished clean up detail at the clubhouse he found himself driving towards the theatre. He didn't know if she would be there but she was and as soon as he saw her his body took over and his lips were on hers, and the kiss it felt right.
But she was right he had hurt her.
"I hate myself for that Hales. I was messed up. I thought...I thought pushing you away was for the best. But it wasn't. I miss you so fucking much Hales"
"Sam I..."
Sam cut her off kissing her again but this time Haley kissed him back.
Jax watched his brother as he strutted around the house. Something had been different about him for the past few weeks. It had become common knowledge through the Teller household that Sam and Chrissie were over, Sam breaking it off with just a shrug.
Gemma was more than pleased but she too was getting suspicious of the younger Tellers new found happiness especially given a break up. And up until last night Jax had been just as confused about his brothers recent behaviour but last night as he was on a ride to clear his head, he learned the truth.
"You heading out?" Sam looked spared a glance over his shoulder at Jax who was standing in his bedroom doorway before looking back at himself in mirror as he fussed with his hair.
"Yeah."
"Where?" Sam paused for the briefest of seconds. His brother was fishing just like his mum had been for the last few weeks. But Haley wanted to keep this a secret out of respect to Chrissie, which again just proved to Sam what an amazing girl she was, but she also wanted to keep it a secret because of her dad. And Sam had to agree he wasn't sure if he was ready to face Daniel Parker just yet. So he was happy to keep his mouth shut because he had Haley.
"Just out."
"Remember you have prospect duties tonight."
"Yeah I know."
"So where you heading out to?" Sam laughed turning to face his brother.
"You sound like Mom." Jax laughed this time.
"Just wonderin bro. You been a little MIA, and you gave up the Carmichael pussy."
"Yeah well novelty wore off." Jax just nodded as he watched his brother grab his cut. Sam had just passed him when Jax spoke again.
"Say hi to Haley for me."
Sam froze. Of course Jax knew. Jax always knows. He took a step back and came to stand in front of his brother.
"How long have you known?"
"What you doing with her bro?" Sam shook his head.
Sam was getting annoyed by Jax. First he had warned him off her then he had thrown a punch at him when he realised that he had upset Haley at his birthday. To Sam Jax was taking this overprotective thing a little to far and to be honest now that he and Haley were a thing it was starting to piss him off. Who was he to get involved between him and Haley.
"We got a problem here?" Sam questioned, his tone harsh
"Nah. Just making sure you remember our conversation."
"Yeah I remember." And with that Sam left, annoyed.
Haley picked at her sandwich. Her and Sam had driven out to the fields by the streams. She had made a picnic and was excited to have some alone time with him but something was off with Sam and it was starting to worry her.
"You ok...Sammy?"
"Huh."
"You ok?"
Sam could just see the concern on her pretty face. He quickly apologised and scooted closer to her, kissing her on the cheek. The fact was Sam couldn't get Jax out of his head. He just didn't understand why he was acting the way he was.
"Can I ask you somethin' Hales."
"Of course."
"You and Jax..." He watched her frown. Confused. As so was he. "Night of my party, what happened with you two?"
"What do you mean?"
"I need to know what happened. After you walked away from me."
"Why?"
"Hales."
Haley sighed. After getting over the shock of the kiss outside of the theatre, Haley noticed the bruise on his jaw but Sam had just shrugged saying he got caught up in the fight she started. Haley argued that it technically wasn't her fault but he just laughed it off and kissed her again.
"Fine." Haley shifted her legs crossed as she faced Sam. Her sandwich discarded. "So I came to give you pres..."
"I know that bit. What happened after you walked away from me." Haley ran her fingers through her hair. She felt uncomfortable. Sam had really hurt her that night, but now, now they were in a different place and Haley didn't want to relive that feeling.
"I was upset. Crying." She watched Sam fidget uncomfortably. "And I bumped into this guy smashed his drink. He...he grabbed me and then Jax came over pulled him off me. Then...then I don't really know. Jax and I were about to walk away but Jax just hit him. I think the guy said something" Haley could see that Sam was uncomfortable. She reached out and covered his hand with hers but Sam shook it off and got to his feet walking away from her towards the streams. Haley quickly followed.
"Sam what's wrong?"
"And the night after the house party at Chrissie's you saw Jax."
"Sam what is this about?" Haley asked coming to stand in front of him. She was getting really confused where this was going.
"What happened?"
"I fought with Lizzie, I left and went to the diner."
"And you saw Jax."
"Yeah he came in, saw I was upset. He comforted me. Sam what is going on?"
"Nothing..."
"Sam?"
"It's just Jax...He...Do you like Jax?" Sam couldn't believe the question just came out of his mouth.
But this was Jax. Everyone loved him, girls always loved him, christ he knew that he was Gemma's favourite. He was just so sick of Jax always been the one, and having him be so over protective over Haley the night of the party and then before he left it just didn't sit right and Sam was falling for Haley and he really didn't want lose what was happening between them.
But saying the words out loud and watching her face, he knew that this was the wrong question to ask.
"What?" Haley asked shocked
"It doesn't matter?"
"Did you just ask me if I like Jax, your brother?"
Haley was stunned by the question. Did she like Jax? What kind of a question was that. They were friends, she had known Jax her whole life they were like family just like her and Sam were, although their relationship had developed into something else but her and Jax? Haley just didn't get where the question or where it cam from.
"That's a ridiculous question Sam. Where is this coming from?"
"He likes you." Haley was surprised by Sam's words.
"Did he say that?" Sam didn't say anything so Haley moved closer to Sam so their bodies were practically touching. "Sammy what's going on?"
"He knows about us Haley?"
"Ok." Although Haley was the who wanted to keep their relationship a secret this was Jax so she wasn't sure why Sam was so concerned about this and she really didn't understand the questioning. "So why are you saying Jax likes me."
"Because he's always there Haley." Sam's temper was fraying at this point. "He doesn't want us together. I know he doesn't."
"Sam. There's many people who are not going to want this." She moved her hands to his face. "Jax is just being like my Dad, like Gemma. They are all going to have opinions but all that matters is us. What we want. You know you are being crazy with this whole Jax thing right?"
Sam sighed and looked down at Haley. She was right, she was always right. "Yeah I Know. Guess it's just keeping this a secret. It's driving me a little crazy. I also think Jax thinks I'm just trying fool round with you Hales."
Haley let out a small laugh. "And your not?" Haley hoped that would put a smile onto his face but it didn't.
"I want us to go public Hales. I need us to." Sam spoke as Haley pulled away. He could sense her uneasiness so he pulled her flush against him, his arms wrapping around her. "Im serious about this, about us. I want people to know that."
"Ok." She lent up and kissed him. "We'll tell everyone."
