Fun Town
"What's up sweetheart?" Haley smiled to herself. Her father never took his eyes off the road but he knew that something weighing on her mind. And it was.
Haley and Sam decided that Fun Town would be the day that they would tell their families. It had been a family tradition when John Teller and Haley's mother were alive. For years they all gathered and had breakfast together before spending the day at Fun Town. Even as Jax, Sam and Haley got older they made sure they kept the tradition, especially as this would be the last one before Haley went off to college.
But now Haley was unsure if this was the right time. Sam was right, everyone would be together and they could do it together but Haley was worried about her Dads reaction. He wasn't going to be happy about this, about her and Sam. And she wondered if telling him along with everyone else was the right thing to do.
So as she sat in the passengers side of her Dads truck, with her mothers home-made Cinnamon rolls on her knee she found herself staring at him. Something he had clearly picked up on.
"I love you Dad."
"I love you too." This time Daniel Parker spared a look at Haley. "So what is it Hales?"
"I need to tell you something." Daniel nodded he figured as much.
"Do I need to pull over for this?"
"Yeah I think so." Daniel was now getting worried.
They were two minutes from the Tellers but Daniel found the first available place to pull over. He put the truck in park and shifted in his seat so he could really look at his daughter. However even though she had been watching him the whole ride right now she wasn't looking at him.
"Haley...what it is?"
"I um...I've been lying to you Daddy." Hearing her call him Daddy usually warmed his heart but hearing she'd been lying to him concerned him. "I haven't been working extra hours at theatre, and when I said I was at a study class with Stacey I wasn't. "
Haley finally turned to look at him. Her fingers playing with the foil that were covering the rolls.
"I was seeing Sam."
"OKay." Haley could tell her Dad didn't get what she was trying to say .
"I haven't been seeing him as a friend. We're...we're together." Haley waited for him to say something but he didn't which made Haley really nervous. "I'm sorry I've lied to you Dad, I just I know how you feel about him …."
"Haley." Haley stopped talking. She waited for him to say something else but again he didn't. Instead Haley watched him shift in his seat and put the truck in drive. Haley was surprised to see her Dad continue on the drive to the Tellers.
Nervous to say anything Haley sat back trying to suppress the tears forming.
Pulling into the Tellers driveway Daniel parked behind the motorcycles. He spared a glance towards his daughter and she looked like she was about to cry and he hated that, but Daniel just had mixed views when it came to the Tellers, when it came to Samcro or rather his daughter getting mixed up in that life.
But he had seen her be so happy this past month and now he knew that her happiness was because of Samuel Teller, but he had also seen his daughter be upset the months before and again that was related to Samuel Teller.
It seemed that the young Teller had some control over his daughter and although Daniel just wanted to keep her away from that, he knew what his wife would say in this situation. 'Trust her' and he really did. Plus she had already been lying to him so he knew even if he tried to stop this Haley would use that strong will of hers and see him anyway.
"Is this what you really want sweetheart?" Surprised by the question Haley stumbled over her words.
"I..um.. yes...I really like him Dad."
"Ok. But Haley no more lying to me. And there will be rules."
"Of course." Haley wiped at a tear that had finally escaped. "I love you Dad."
"Love you to sweetheart."
Sam heard the truck pull into the driveway. He smiled when he saw Haley step out of the truck. She looked beautiful, dressed simply in a beige flowing skirt and a white t-shirt that she made look good.
Pushing away from the window Sam headed to the kitchen where his mother was setting the table. Clay already sat there reading the paper.
"They're here." Sam spoke making his presence known.
"Ok. Baby will you grab the glasses." Gemma instructed to Sam, who did as he was told. He wanted to keep Gemma on his good side. Sam smirked as he watched his Mom kick Clays legs off the chair.
Knock Knock
Sam almost rushed to the door but his mom got there before him. He watched over his moms shoulder as Gemma hugged Haley and Daniel, but it wasn't till he caught sight of Haley that his smile turned into a frown. She was upset.
The room suddenly got busy with Gemma fussing, Clay coming over to greet Daniel and Haley and Jax arriving into the kitchen and doing the same. All the time Sam tried to go to Haley without making it obvious, but stopped when he saw Jax ask Haley a question that he couldn't hear. He watch her shake her head and then look back at her Dad before her eyes finally reached his.
"Everything okay?" Sam's eyes shot to Gemma. She was directing the question to Daniel, who was looking at Sam.
"I think we all need to have a conversation."
Gemma's eyes shot to Clay and then to Jax who was stood next to Haley. Haley's worried face was what prompted Gemma's question. Her eyes finally fell onto Sam and for Gemma it was all starting to fall into place.
"So is someone going to tell me what's going on here?" Clay asked. Clay was always slightly concerned when it came to Daniel Parker. He was close friends with John but Clay and Daniel had never really got to a place of friendship. They were civil with one another for the sake of the kids and Gemma but that was it. Even though he wasn't friends with Daniel however he could tell there was something that was pissing him off.
"It's me and Haley." Everyone around the table turned to look at Sam.
Sam didn't need to speak to Haley, he could tell by her expression. Her Dad knew and Sam was fine with that but he wasn't going to allow Haley to take the brunt of telling his family. Ignoring the looks he continued.
"We're together. We're boyfriend and girlfriend." Sam smiled slightly when he caught the smile on Haley's lips. They hadn't had the conversation but Sam loved saying the words, and the smile on her face told him she loved hearing it. That was until he caught Gemma's eye. She looked pissed.
"You know about this?" Sam watched Gemma turn her attention to Jax. Sam's eyes followed and was relieved when Jax shook his head.
"This is good news right." All eyes now on Clay. "You know we love you sweetheart."
"I need rules Clay." Clay nodded at Daniel.
"Sam is good kid Daniel."
"So is my Haley." Daniel bit back at Clay .
Gemma cleared her throat. "Kids why don't you go outside for a bit let us talk."
"Mom if it's about me and Hales..."
"Sam do as your mother says." Clay spoke still looking at Daniel.
Sam was going to stand his ground but Jax got to his feet and placed a hand on Haley's shoulder.. "C'mon." And when Sam watched Haley follow him Sam did the same.
Gemma waited until they were outside before she turned to Daniel. "Rules?"
"No closed doors when she is here." Gemma nodded. "I don't want her hanging around T/M."
"What do you think is going to happen?" Clay asked with a smirk.
"I know what Samcro is Clay. I don't want my baby girl getting caught up it." Clay shook his head. He was insulted. Even though Clay didn't have that friendship with Daniel he wasn't going to let anything happen to Haley he loved that kid.
"Daniel." Both men looked at Gemma. "We all love Haley, we all have her best interest at heart."
"Sam better."
"He does." Gemma spoke firmly.
"Well he's made my daughter lie to me."
"Hate to break it to you Daniel but I don't think that's all Sams doing." Clay tried not to show his anger at Daniel's response. "Now they are going to see each other whether we want them to or not, they've already proved that."
"He just better not hurt her."
"And she better not hurt him." Gemma quipped. "Now the breakfast is getting cold.
They had all done their normal route around the rides and games and he had noticed that Haley was keeping close to her Dad. Jax wasn't sure if it was Haley or Daniel keeping that close contact. Probably Daniel.
Jax used that time to have a chat with his little brother who he knew was a looking a little pissed.
"Hey brother"
Sam looked over his shoulder at Jax before turning back around to throw the ball at the skittles, where he knocked half of them down.
"Good shot." Again Sam said nothing and threw his last ball hitting the remaining skittles.
"Thanks." Sam pointed to a prize. Then turned to look at his brother.
"So Mom already gave the lecture on the way over Jax, And I clearly know Mr Parker's views. So whatever it is you have to say you can save it." They both looked over to Haley and her Dad, but Jax quickly looked back at Sam.
Jax did have his concerns about Haley and Sam but he saw her smile today when Sam referred to them as boyfriend and girlfriend. And when they stepped outside Jax watched Sam embrace Haley telling her that everything was going to be ok, it was a sweet movement. And now looking at the defeated look on his brothers face Jax decided a lecture was the last thing he needed.
"Look do you like her?"
"Of course I do, I mean she's amazing and look at her." Jax looked back over his shoulder at Haley. He couldn't argue with that. She did look great.
"Then that's all that matters. Just take of her Sam. She's not like other girls you've dated."
"Yeah tell me about it."
And it was that look in his brothers eyes that told Jax the answer to his unspoken question. They weren't sleeping together. Jax was about to comment when a soft spoken voice came from behind them.
"Hey." Both of them again turned around but this time they saw Haley standing behind them. "So my Dads gone. I have a curfew at 9," Haley spoke with a roll of the eyes. "Is that for me?" Jax looked where Haley was pointing to. It was at the stuffed bear that Sam was holding.
"Yeah." Sam stepped forward and pulled her in for a kiss before giving her the bear.
Jax shifted on his feet, it was going to take a little time to get used to seeing them interact as anything other than friends so, but they both looked happy.
But Jax wasn't the only one watching the interaction with some discomfort. Across the field stood Chrissie Carmichael.
