I just want to say a massive thank you for all the adds and follows and for those who took the time to review. I am really glad you are all enjoying this story.
This chapter is a bit of a long one but I promise it's worth it.
The Accident
Haley suddenly felt nervous when they pulled up to the party. She had rarely attended parties but when she had they hadn't ended well, in fact the last one she attended ended up with a with her having a drink thrown all over her.
But she was here for Steve, he said that he wanted her to meet his friends and she kind of liked that he wanted her to.
Taking her hand and whispering reassurance into her ear, he led her into the party. As soon as they were through the door Steve was embraced in hugs from his friends, this reminded her of the time Jax did the same at Sam's party. That brought a smile to her face.
The introductions were short and sweet with his friends, all giving her a hi and a gazing eye. It was clear to Haley that they were all already wasted, and when they passed her and Steve a solo cup Haley understood why. One sip was all she needed, but Steve downed the drink and was quickly handed another by one of his friends. And it was then Haley realised that he would not be driving her home tonight.
They had been there for over an hour and Haley watched as everyone seemed to be getting more drunk but she guessed that was the whole point of a college party but when she had seen the drugs starting to be handed around Haley wanted to leave but Steve persuaded to stay for a little longer again promising that he would get her home by curfew but looking at the clock and knowing how far away they were from Charming she knew they really need to leave the latest in another hour and that would be cutting it fine. But Steve looked like he was having fun and he reassured her for the third time by whispering in her ear but this time dropping a kiss onto her neck, so Haley gave in and followed him over to the table where a poker game was taking place.
"STEVIE...come join...prepare to lose your money!. And you my lovely lady need to sit by be." Haley watched as Steve's friend who she knew to be Chad , patted the seat next to him. Haley looked back at Steve who nodded for her to take the seat.
"So what are you playing?" Haley asked.
"Texas Hold'em." Another friend said across the table and gained her attention. "So basically to play you..."
"I know how to play." Haley didn't miss that everyone was looking at her. Truth was Jax taught her and Sam how to play during family dinners, and even though she hadn't played it in a long time she still remembered what to do. "Deal me in." She blushed when they all cat called her, and the look on Steve's face was he to was impressed.
The game was going well- well for Haley- they were playing with chips so Haley wasn't sure what she actually won and she would never take the money but she had to admit for the first time during the night she was enjoying herself and his friends actually seemed fun.
"Stevie you need to marry this girl..." Sy said from beside Steve. "Because if you don't I will."
"Nah...she's all mine." Steve said cockily leaning over and kissing Haley. She felt her cheeks flush at the PDA.
"Well guess you hang around bikers you learn a thing or two." The comment from Chad grabbed Haley's attention. He looked pissed and Haley knew it was because he was a sore loser but what bothered her was what he said.
After meeting Jax of course Steve had asked her on their date about him. Jax rode a motorbike, wore a cut, and had a knife hanging from his jeans. She knew how intimidating he could look even with his pretty boy looks. Haley had explained that he was a family friend but it looked like Steve had obviously been discussing this with his friends and that annoyed her.
"I mean we've all heard the stories..." Chad leaned closer into Haley and she could smell the alcohol on him. "About what they are, about the girls croweaters...are you one of those girls who hangs around to just fuck a biker..."
"CHAD..." Steve snapped looking at his friend sternly silently telling him to stop.
"Easy Stevie..." Chad's eyes momentarily left Haley to look at Steve but they quickly returned Haley. "I mean that's what Stevie called them." Haley froze as he trailed his finger along her arm, causing a chill to run through her. His eyes when back to Steve's "That's what you called her."
Hearing the chair hit the floor Haley looked to see that Steve was now on his feet. She also realised that it had gained the attention of the people around her.
"What? You said we could all have a go. Isn't that right Sy." Haley's eyes left Steve's and went to Sy who couldn't look at her, she looked back to Steve and his face too told her that Chad's words were true.
Getting to her feet Haley "Screw you." She spat angrily before storming out of the party.
"HALEY..." Steve shouted. He looked back at Chad who was laughing to himself. "You're a dick."
Haley stormed outside but as she did she quickly realised that she had no where to go. Steve had drove them tonight. But she just wanted to be far away from. How could he say that about her, she was completely confused because he had been so nice.
"Haley..." She looked over her shoulder to see Steve running towards her. She turned her back on him and started walking away but he caught up to her and took her arm. Forcing her to face him "He's just wasted."
"Did you say it?" Haley snapped. He looked down at his feet again just confirming what the truth was. "Why?"
"I didn't say it like that it was lad chat." Haley shook her head quickly wiping at her fallen tears.
"I want to go home."
"Haley come on they were just busting my balls. It wasn't about you." He went to grab her to drag her back inside but Haley pulled away.
"No, I want to go home."
"Fine." Steve sighed knowing that she wasn't going to budge and he guessed he couldn't blame her his friends had just called her a slut practically.
"Im driving."
"Your not driving my car."
"Your drunk." Haley stated a matter of factly.
Steve looked at Haley. Her arms were wrapped across her chest and he could tell she was pissed. This was not how he wanted tonight to go.
After seeing her with Jax Teller and how close she seemed to him, how at ease she had been when he dropped a kiss upon her head. It was obvious that they were close and that was when Steve realised that he may have underestimated the pretty little waitress. First impression was that she looked shy and timid, but beautiful, and he thought it would be a nice challenge to break a 'good girl' but seeing her with Jax and knowing of the gang that was called Samcro, hearing the stories of their legendary parties and how women just threw themselves at them Steve realised that Haley may not be the shy and timid girl, in fact she could be quite the opposite.
That was why he had wanted to bring her to the party. He wanted to loosen her up see that biker chick side of her that he had yet to see but it seemed that he wasn't going to get that and all he could think about was how this would look to his friends. They were impressed when he had bagged someone associated with Samcro, and they had joked about sharing her around.
He didn't want to lose this chance. So he handed her his keys.
Haley had been surprised when he handed her the keys but then he climbed into the passengers seat. Haley knew that she couldn't really say no to him given that it was his car. So she just put the key in the ignition and started to drive.
They hadn't drove very far before Steve spoke "Your mad." Haley remained silent. "Come on Hales... You don't have to keep up this act."
"Don't call me Hales." Haley snapped as she came to a stop at the intersection.
"Why is that reserved for Jax." Steve had picked up that he had called her Hales and he had yet to use the nickname.
"What?" She asked taking her eyes off the road as she was confused buy hearing Jax's name.
Steve was growing tired of the game Haley was playing. "Look it's obvious you two have fucked, I just want the same..." Steve reached across a placed a hand on her thigh slowly sliding it towards her inner thigh.
Haley quickly pushed his hand away just as the light turned green. Haley put her foot on the gas but as she did Steve advanced on her again this time successfully putting his hand between his leg as his other hand grabbed her neck pulling her closer to him.
"Steve..Stop...Stop..." Her voice was panicked but it was like Steve wasn't listening. She tried pushing him away but he kept coming at her and before she knew it she lost control of the car.
"Haley...Hales...come on wake up." Jax's eyes tried to survey the damage but all he could focus on was the blood pouring from her head and that she wasn't responding. Jax took a breath before reaching out and placing two finger on her neck. He prayed silently to feel a pulse and he felt a wave of relief rush through his body felt he felt one.
"Their on their way. She okay?". Jax looked back at Opie.
"She's breathin',"
"Who's car is this?"
"Stevies" Jax bit out as he looked back at Haley his eyes went over her to the open passenger door.
Opie was about to ask who this guy was when they both heard Haley moan. Opie watched as Jax moved to get eye level with her.
"Hales?"
"Ja...Jax...what...what..."
"It's okay your going to be okay. Ambulance is on it's way."
"Jax..." At this point Haley started to cry and Jax could tell she was starting to panic.
"It's okay, your okay. Can you tell me where you hurt?"
"It just hurts Jax."
Jax looked back at Opie "Where are they?" he spat with anger.
Jax sat in the plastic chair his knee bobbing up and down as he tried to wait patiently. When the emergency services arrived and attended to Haley, carefully removing her from the wreckage she reached out for his hand and made him promise not to call her Dad. That plea just reaffirmed that something bad had happened tonight.
He persuaded Opie to go back to Charming, playing on the pregnant Donna card, so right now he was there by himself waiting with various thoughts running through his mind but all he kept going back to was that the passenger door was open and all he knew was if that college kid had left her he was going to pay.
He snagged his cell out of his cut and pulled up a familiar number. He had been back and forth about whether he should call/message him. But he knew if roles were reversed he would expect to know. And with that he sent the message.
"Mr Teller?" Jax looked up from his cell to see a doctor approaching him Jax was straight on his feet and closed the gap.
"How is she?"
"Miss Parker has confirmed that you are family member." Jax nodded. He had told the reception staff that he was family, but he could see that they weren't buying it and he knew it was because of his cut, but it looked like Haley had backed up the story. She was always a smart girl. "She has a laceration on her forehead which we have had to stitch, scaring should be minimal. There was a break to her left wrist which we have set. She is going to be a little sore but she is doing just fine although I would like like to keep to in her in over night just for observation as she did take sustain a blow to the head and she was found unconscious."
"Can I see her?"
"Of course. Just to let you know the police will require a statement from yourself and Miss Parker given the circumstances of the accident."
Jax noticed again like the reception staff when he arrived that the Doctor was eyeing his cut. They may be in Oakland but he was sure that people knew of Samcro. But he wasn't here to fight that fight he just wanted to see Haley.
"Sure. Can I see her now?"
"Follow me Mr Teller."
Haley sat on the bed. She ached all over but all she could think about was Steve. She closed her eyes when she thought about what he was trying to do to her but she also remembered that he wasn't there. She had arrived at the hospital alone, and by alone she meant no Steve.
She was brought from her thoughts when she heard the door open. She looked up and saw Jax and she couldn't stop the tears from falling. He was next to her in a second.
"Ssssh...It's okay."
As he sat down on the bed beside her, Haley, ignoring the pain in her body, wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close.
Jax felt a little taken aback by her advance but it only took a second to embrace her back. They stayed like that for a few moments before Jax pulled away. He took her hand in his.
"What happened?"
"I...I just lost control of the car."
"Hales?" Haley knew that he wanted more but she knew he would be mad. "Talk to me, please."
"Steve wanted to go to a party. It was all going fine then one of his friends made a comment..."
"What comment?" Jax could feel himself getting angry he had a bad feeling and seeing her eyes leave his as she looked down Jax gently hooked his finger under her chin making her look at him again. "What comment?"
"About the club and the girls who hangaround...about me being one." Haley wasn't sure if she was saying this right she wasn't exactly versed in the clubs terminology but when she watched him run a hand over his face Haley knew he understood what she was trying to say.
"I'm sorry Haley." Haley shook her head he really did not need to apologise.
"It's okay. But Chad was just getting to much so I left."
"And Steve?"
"He followed me but I just wanted to go home. But he was drunk so I took the keys. I was driving trying to concentrate but...but" Haley felt the tears burn at the memory. She felt Jax squeeze her hand. "He tried touching me , I tried to stop him but he wasn't listening and kept pushing himself on me and I...I just lost control of the car. "
Jax shot to his feet his hand running through his long blonde hair. He was dead. He was going to kill Steve for touching her. He could feel the anger vibrating at him. Placing both hands on the bottom of her bed he took some deep breaths to try and calm him. But his attention went back to Haley when he heard her soft almost weak voice say his name. She looked scared and broken and it scared him.
"Please don't tell my Dad."
"Hales we have to tell him somethin'. That arsehole tried to force himself on you, he made you crash the car, he left you for dead." Haley wiped at her tears. Jax moved to back beside her. "The police are also going to want to speak to you too. Haley he can't get away with with this."
"I just want to forget about it." He shifted closer and pulled her against him, as she sobbed harder into his chest. He ran his hand over her hair.
"I know, but Hales I need to call your dad now." He felt Haley nod.
Pulling away from her so that he could look her properly he cupped her face. "I'm going to be here okay, I won't let anyone hurt you again."
Getting to his feet getting ready to step outside to make the difficult call to Daniel Parker, he lent down to drop a kiss on top of her head but Haley who had been looking down at her hands, suddenly looked up causing their lips to meet.
