It's Complicated

Haley took her Dads hand as he helped her out of the truck. She was sore and tired. Once her Dad had arrived at the Hospital the Police came for her statement, her Dad had tried to tell them to leave but Haley objected she just wanted to get it over with she just wanted it all to be over, even though it was hard to relive the story in front of her Dad.

And now they were home and Haley couldn't be happier. She just wanted to crawl under the covers of her own bed and that is exactly what she did.

Daniel stared at the kettle as he waited for it to boil. He really wished that Elise was here because right now he didn't know what to do. His anger for what Haley had gone through was taking over him. When he had received the phone call and arrived at the Hospital and saw Jax, Daniel almost lost it thinking straight away that this was something to do with him, that he had endangered his daughter but when he heard the truth spilling from Haley's lips to the police he knew that he was mistaken. This wasn't Jax. This was Steve Miller the 20 year old boy that he had allowed to date his 17 year old daughter.

He would never forgive himself for that mistake.

With the kettle boiled Daniel made one of the herbal teas that Haley loved and quickly made her some toast taking it up stairs to Haley.

"Here you go sweetheart." Daniel place the tray on her bed.

"Thanks Dad." She reached for the tea but she caught the look in his eyes. "I'm okay Dad. I promise."

"Yeah well forgive me if I don't believe you." He took a seat on her bed.

"Okay, but I will be." Daniel nodded. She was like her mother, strong, she would survive this but at the same time she was still his baby girl.

"I know sweetheart." He lent forward and dropped a kiss on her forehead. "I have to go to the store I would stay..."

"It's fine Dad, I'm so tired I just to sleep."

"If you need anything..."

"I'll call you."

"She okay?" Jax looked over his shoulder to see his mother. He wasn't shocked. Looking back at the fridge he pulled out the beer he had been searching for.

It had been a long day and now it was 1 in the morning and he was exhausted, he just wanted to be alone but Gemma clearly had other ideas.

"Yeah." Jax took a swig of his beer as he sat down at the kitchen table, Gemma following him. "She's banged up."

Gemma watched her son, he was clearly agitated and she was worried. Something was going on with him she had seen it for months now and it was all to do with her.

"You're angry." Jax frowned at her.

"She was attacked and left for dead. Yeah I'm angry." He spat taking another swig of his drink.

"What's been going on Jackson?"

"What are you talking about Mom?" Gemma's cryptic talk was not what he needed right now.

"You've been seeing her." Gemma saw that he was about to speak but she continued. "Don't try and lie to me Jackson. This could get really complicated."

Jax shook his head he knew what she was trying to get at and before tonight he would have shook it off, but seeing her hurt, feeling the rage inside him knowing someone else had touched her, the feeling he felt when their lips touched, yeah something had changed tonight and he would probably be lying to himself if he said he hadn't been feeling something different about Haley since the night at the streams, but Gemma could not know any of that because as always his mother was right as this just got really complicated.

Taking a long pull of his beer he slammed it on the table and got to his feet. "im going to the Club house."

Jax woke with a headache. When he had arrived at the Clubhouse he grabbed a bottle of Jack off the shelf and retreated to his room ignoring all of his brothers as he just wanted to be alone. He was regretting that Jack now though. He headed to the shower to try and wake himself as he had spent all last night thinking about Haley and trying to figure out what was going on but he realised he couldn't do that without Haley, without knowing what she was thinking.

And that was how he found himself standing outside her front door. He wrapped his knuckles gently against the door. He heard movement and the door was quickly opened to reveal Haley standing there.

"Hey..." Jax spoke first sensing her surprise at seeing him. She was dressed in an oversized flannel shirt and white socks, her legs bare. He had to admit she looked pretty beautiful but Haley did.

"Hey."

Even though she was bone tired Haley hadn't been able to sleep because her mind kept going over everything that happened yesterday. And one thing she kept thinking about was the kiss. It was clumsy and over in a second but Haley felt his lips on hers and she didn't know how to feel about, she wondered if he felt the same and that was why he was here. "Do you want to come in?" Haley watched as he looked over her shoulder. "Dad's at the store. The coast is clear." Haley teased which caused a smile to cross Jax's lips.

Jax followed Haley into the house and down the hall to the kitchen. "Water?" Haley asked motioning to the fridge, Jax nodded and accepted the bottle she gave him. He lent against the counter Haley doing the same opposite him.

"How you feeling today?"

"Sore, but I'm okay."

"Have you had an update from the police?" Jax was hoping that Steve got off with a warning, because he really wanted to get his hands on him, especially looking at Haley, the bruising was turning an angry shade of purple, against her pale skin. Jax wanted revenge.

"No nothing yet."

"Well he'll pay for this regardless." Haley watched as he took a swig of the water she could tell that he was angry.

"Jax please, I just want to forget about him, forget about last night."

Jax nodded he understood that but it wasn't that easy. "He hurt you Hales."

"So you're going to hurt him.?" Jax ran a hand over his face. Haley was such a good person that she did get that he couldn't let him get away with what he did to her. He was Samcro and Haley was family, and nobody hurt Samcro's family. Sensing her uneasiness Jax pushed away from the counter and closed the gap between them, his hands coming to rest either side of her.

"Haley when I said last night I'm not going to let anyone hurt you again I meant that. I'll always look out for you Hales."

Haley felt her breath quicken by his closeness and his words. Her eyes locked with his. Both feeling the tension brewing between them.

"Last night Hales..."

"We kissed." Jax smirked at her answer.

"Yeah we did. Need to know what your thinking Haley?"

"I don't know. Its's complicated." Haley answered honestly.

"Yeah." Jax too didn't know how he was feeling but he could only think of one thing that might help them both. His one hand came to rest gently on her cheek. He felt her jump ever so slightly at his touch. "I'm going to kiss you but if you don't want me too Hales then you just gonna have to stop me." He moved his head closer towards her and waited for her to stop him but she didn't.

Haley closed her eyes her mind was racing but when his lips touched hers suddenly her mind was blank and all she could think about was him kissing her. Although the kiss was gentle as soon as Haley started to kiss him back, Jax placed his free arm around her pulling her flush against him and Haley's good hand came to rest on the back of his neck.

"Knock...knock..."

Haley broke the kiss with the sound of the door, but remained flush against him. She looked back at Jax. "Ignore it." Jax spoke breathlessly his forehead resting against hers.

"It might be the police." Her words brought Jax back to reality.

"Go." Haley gave him a closed lip smile and detangled herself from him just as there was another knock on the door. He watched her straighten herself, and with her leaving he took the opportunity to do the same, although he moved towards the hallway, keeping an ear out just in case and that was when he heard her ask "What are you doing here?" He quickly entered the hallway thinking that it may be Steve but Jax stopped in his tracks when he saw who the visitor was.

"Sammy."
