Sienna Khan is many things. Beautiful. Powerful. Skilled at her craft.
Sienna sat at her helm, a satisfied smile on her lips. "Catra."
Catra's tail flicked happily as she sauntered near casually. "Yes, Sienna?"
Sienna hummed. "I have a long-term mission for you. It's quite important."
"I'm interested" Catra sat across Sienna's lap, enjoying pushing the tiger faunus' buttons.
Sienna allowed humor to slip into her voice.
"I need you to go to Beacon."
"Beacon? Aren't they mostly faunus-friendly?"
"They are-" Sienna began, "-but one of my informants have told me Blake Belladonna is there as a student. And that is your mission."
"You want me to take her out?"
Sienna looked amused at that, "No no, you'll be there to protect her, and bring her back. Test where her loyalties are."
"And what about Adam? I know they were close." Catra pointed out, lounging.
"Tell her you're one of Adam's at first. But, Adam may wish to execute her. So your first priority is to keep her alive. Got it?"
Catra stood, "Yeah. I got it. I'm guessing I should bring her back to you?"
"That would be nice, but unnecessary."
Catra smirked. And if Adam happens to get in my way, I'll have every excuse to execute him myself. Less competition is always a good thing. Catra thought to herself, smirking widely, unaware that Sienna wouldn't mind one bit.
"And Catra?" Sienna called, "Come back with success, and I'll make you my right-hand woman."
Catra sat across from one Ruby Rose, studying her team leader.
"Soooooo." Ruby started awkwardly.
"So, I'm your last team member."
"Oh, yeah. The last one had to go back to Atlas."
Atlas. Catra thought bitterly. Snobs and racists.
"Atlas?" Catra responded in mock interest. "I could never go there, it's too cold!" She finished the sentence with a purposefully cute pout.
"Aw, c'mon. It's probably not that bad." Ruby reasoned, silver eyes locked in Catra's.
Is she endeared, or just curious?
The two of them started out into the hallway as Ruby looked over Catra, eyes resting on the ferox's weapon, a broadsword that Sienna had given her.
"Can I see your weapon?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah, sure." Catra took the sword out of its scabbard, handing it to the eager student.
Ruby held the sword up in the air, examining it.
It was surprisingly well-crafted, the pointed flat blade silvery, almost white, the gold-tinted hilt stretched into a T-shape and extended over the blade a bit with a pattern that resembles ocean waves.
The entire weapon was shined and sharpened recently, the gold and light blue accents reflecting light like oil on tile.
I'll bet Ador-- Catra cut off her own thoughts by coughing suddenly, refocusing.
Stay in the moment. Catra took a quick breath, looking at Ruby's expression, the curious team leader having looked over every inch of the admittedly simple weapon.
"Thanks!" Ruby says, handing the sword back.
Catra took the sword and re-sheathed it.
"So, Ruby Rose, leader of team, uhm….Hold on, what is your team name now?"
Ruby blinked. "Uhhhh…." She pulled out her scroll. "Cinnabar, CYBR. That's a shade of red, like animal fur." Ruby muttered to herself, quoting the trivia question.
Then she looked up and blushed. "Not that there's anything wrong with animal fur!" She backpedals, and Catra snorted and waved her hand dismissively.
"This ferox takes no offense. None given, none taken." She's a goofball Catra thought, a bit warmed by the show of innocence, as much as the notion was annoying
Ruby breathed a sigh of relief, and she opened the door to the courtyard, where Beacon's student body traversed the early autumn afternoon.
Couples talked, teams organized their schedules, teachers relaxed as the pleasant cool wind brushed through Catra's fine fur, rustling her overgrown locks of rich brown hair.
Ruby took Catra's hand, and Catra mentally smirked. This might be easier than I thought.
"As I was saying...Ruby Rose, leader of team CYBR (Cinnabar), would you do me the honor of pointing out the cafeteria, and maybe joining me for uh, late lunch?"
"Oh, sure! I'll go get Yang and Blake!"
"Actually," Catra pulled Ruby's hand a bit, diverting her effort to run elsewhere. "I hope you don't mind if it's just us? I'm not great with new people…" Catra lied.
"Oh… Yeah, that's fine. And I understand, meeting a lot of new people all at once is overwhelming, like when Blake and Weiss joined my team." Ruby said, and Catra didn't miss the way Ruby's eyes drifted towards the floor at the mention of her former teammate.
Catra went into the cafeteria, and got two trays of food, sitting with the young huntress in training.,
