Catra has herself a pleasant lunch with her team leader, Ruby Rose. The progress on getting the younger girl to trust her was going better than expected, the silver-eyed huntress spilling her emotions all over the table.
Yang, this. Dad, that. Way too sunshine-y for Catra's taste. Ruby rants about this and that.
Blah, blah, blah. I have better things to do.
It's not that Catra didn't enjoy listening to a bright-eyed idealist spew positivity, she had better things to do.
"You know, Ruby? This has been fun, and I'll see you back in the dorm?"
Ruby nods. 'See you later, Catra!' She called in sing-song.
Catra couldn't help but chuckle a bit at her tone, and made her way towards the athletic wing, checking her teammates' schedules.
Hm… Blake has volleyball. Maybe I should sign up?
On her way to the athletics office, Catra spotted Blake and Yang, walking suspiciously close to each other, but the duo didn't notice their new teammate.
Oh? Catra smirked wide.
She entered the building, and walked up to a desk.
"Hey."
An elderly woman looked up from her solitaire, squinting.
"Yes, dearie?"
"How do I sign up for Volleyball?"
The older woman looked shocked.
"Oh! Sign here and head right into the auxiliary gymnasium. They'd love to have you."
Catra signed her pseudonym, Catrina Khan, and went right in.
1st and 2nd year girls populated the gym, in the middle of drills or practice.
The instructor, a very tall dark-haired woman, looked over. "Joining us?" She asked, hopefully.
"Yup! Do you have any uniforms?"
The instructor grinned wide, pointing to the changing rooms. "Red or blue, your choice, recruit!" She was pleased for the newcomer, watching as Catra briskly jogged into said room, tail swaying happily.
I guess I have always wanted to play a college sport. Catra thought to herself, her mood lifting much farther as another cat joined her.
Blake's eyes widened as she got to her locker. 'Catra?!'
"Hey there Ribbons. You're on the volleyball team?" Catra asked in mock surprise. "I didn't take you for the sporty type."
Blake mumbled under her breath. 'Yang talked me into it, shut up.'
Catra cooed dramatically. "Aww, and look where friendship got you? Wasting your time in athletics. What a waste."
Blake huffed. 'Whatever….You shouldn't be talking to Ruby. She'll catch your misguidedness.'
"Oh really? I'm the misguided one? Unlike you, I know how to finish a mission. Seriously, Blakey-"
'Don't call me that.' Blake interrupted.
"Okay, kitty, are we going to play this game? Are you going to play the hero? This little game of righteousness? You're not changing my mind, and apparently, I'm not changing yours."
Blake stood defiantly, scowling. 'You shut your mouth about things you don't know anything about!'
Catra covered her mouth. "Kitty's got claws! And why don't we fight now, no weapons?"
Blake snarled, 'You know exactly why. And you'd blow your cover.'
"I'm impressed that you'd bet your life on it, even going as far as to locking your Huntress weapon in your locker." Catra used air quotes.
The few more girls entered the locker room, and Catra let the conversation end with a smirk and a wink, starting to dress in her practice gear.
I'll win her over. I never fail, I never apologize, I never fall.
