Just a Kid

Haley smiled at the customer as she handed them their order. She caught sight of him again. He had been hanging out down the street for the last few hours. She had tried to ignore him but now it was getting a little bit wired and she knew that he wasn't going anywhere.

"Clare is it okay if I take a break?"

"Sure."

"Thanks."

Haley walked around the counter pulling her apron off and placing it on the hook before walking out of the Deli. As she approached him she knew that he had seen her but was surprised that he made no effort to try and hide or flea from her.

"What is it with you Tellers staking me." Haley spoke with a smirk remembering the time she had accused Jax of doing the same, except he was stalking her in the deli. She saw the confusion on his face. She shook her head. "Nothing. So what are you doing here Sam. You okay?"

"You got time to talk?" Haley crossed her arms over her chest and looked back at the deli.

"Not really I haven't got long for break." Sam nodded. He understood her distance he had been out of line last night. He was trying to use their history to hurt Jax.

"Okay." Sam pushed away from his bike to stand in front of her. "Do I at least have time to say I'm sorry." It was Haley's turn to frown. "Family dinner."

"Oh that."

"Yeah."

"It's okay. I shouldn't have been there. That wasn't fair to you." And Haley really did mean that. Seeing the way that Sam and Jax were with each other, then Gemma. She never wanted any of this. "I'm sorry if i've hurt you. You know I never wanted to do that."

Sensing she was starting to get upset Sam moved even closer and embraced her into a hug. He was surprised when she never pulled away instead she hugging him back.

Breathing her in he realised just how much he had missed her. He pulled back and moved his hand to her cheek. Again she never pulled away.

"Hales..." He rubbed his thumb over cheek.

"Sam..." He moved his head and kissed her. Haley was shocked and in that shock the kiss lasted longer than she wanted before her hands came up to his chest pushing him away.

"Hales."

"I...I need to get back to work." She turned her back on him and started to walk away when she felt Sam grab her again she freed herself but this time her tone was harsher. "No Sam. Just leave me alone."

Haley looked back when she heard the roar of the engine and Sam speeding off. She turned back to head to the deli but as she started walking she saw the last person she wanted to see. Elizabeth Martin. Shit she muttered to herself as she tried to walk past her. But of course Lizzie wasn't going to let that happen.

"Wow. So the little virgin becomes a slut." Haley stopped and faced her.

"What did you say?"

"You heard me." Lizzie moved closer. "I know you are fucking Jax Teller. And from what I just saw looks like your fucking Sam too."

"You have no clue what you are talking about." Haley went to walk away but was stopped by Lizzie grabbing her arm forcing her to face her again.

"He left Chrissie because of you."

"No he left her because she lied to him." Haley watched a smirk appear on her face.

"You really believe that...Whore."

Haley didn't know what come over her. She felt so angry and before she knew what she was doing she slapped Lizzie. She heard Lizzie gasp in pain as her hand went to her cheek. Instantly Haley was shocked by her actions.

"Lizzie...I'm..."

"You bitch." Lizzie shoved Haley. Anger still fresh Haley shoved her back.

"You know what Lizzie I was going to apologise but you know what I'm sick of everyone trying to push me around." Haley stood her ground as Lizzie stepped back up to her.

"You're going to pay for this you little biker whore."

"You should leave before I hit you again."

Lizzie stared at her, before she backed away. Once she was out of sight Haley started shaking, tears burning in her eyes.

"You okay?" Haley turned round to see Clare standing at the deli doors and Haley shook her head the tears finally falling.

Haley walked through the gates of the clubhouse. It was late as she had pulled a double, first the Deli and then the theatre. She was exhausted after everything but there was only one person she wanted to see.

Haley protectively wrapped her arms around herself as she walked further into the lot. It wasn't like the night of Sam's party or the nights during lockdown but there were some unfamiliar faces in the lot which made her feel uncomfortable, so she sort out the one friendly face she could see.

"Bobby?" She watched as the older man turned to face her.

"Sweetheart you okay?" She noted the concern and quickly nodded in answer to his concerns.

"Is Jax here?" She heard the sniggers from the men that Bobby was standing with. She didn't know them but they stopped when Bobby turned around and gave them a look before looking back at her and placing a a hand on her lower back.

"He's in his dorm. Come on darlin'." He gently guided her through the clubhouse only stopping when they got to the top of the hall. "Guessin' you remember which one it is."

Haley mirrored his smile but she felt herself blush a little. "Thanks Bobby,"

Haley walked down the rest of the hall by herself until she came to stand in front of his dorm. Taking a breath she knocked on the door.

As the door opened it revealed Jax who had clearly just got out of the shower. He should shirtless water still glistening on his body and his long blonde hair was still wet. He looked good.

"Hey..." Her voice was small.

"Hey..."

"Can I come in?" He paused for a moment before stepping aside and letting her inside. Her eyes went to the bed. She remembered the last time they had been sharing that bed. and she suddenly felt guilty although she had pushed Sam away she had let his lips touch hers and she knew she had to tell Jax.

"I need to talk to you"

Jax nodded he motioned for her to take a seat on the bed.

After the family dinner Haley had been all he had thought about so when he had finished at TM and knowing her work schedule he knew she would be at the Deli, so he drove over there but what he didn't prepare himself to see her with Sam.

When he pulled up in a cage across the street he noticed his brother. He knew that Sam was never going to just accept him and Haley, which is why Jax took the hits in Tacoma because he knew he had crossed a line with Haley but after the family meal Jax was done. He knew what Sam was trying to do and seeing him hanging outside Haley work only confirmed that and he was pissed with his brother but then he watched Haley walk out to him.

He watched the moment between them, he watched his brother kiss her. In that moment it reinforced all the fears that Jax had been having. She still like Sam. And before he could watch anymore he raced off.

He had been so angry but now leaning against the dresser he took her in. She really was beautiful and he really did love her but he feared that maybe she didn't love him the same way, and he feared that history was about to repeat itself. She looked nervous and the words she had just spoke we all to familiar for Jax as those words once fell from Tara's lips the night before she left him.

"Jax, I..."

"We should end this." Jax spoke firmly taking the action to protect himself.

"What?"

Haley was taken aback by his words. After Gemma's words, threat, whatever it was Haley had been confused because of course she still cared for Sam but seeing him today having him kiss her Haley knew that it was Jax. She wanted Jax.

Which is why she had come here. She wanted to explain everything that had happened after the dinner all the thoughts she had been trying to process, she was going to tell him about what happened today but then he said that and Haley was shocked.

Getting to her feet she walked over to him placing herself right in front of him. He was trying to avoid her gaze.

"Look at me...look at me." Her words were soft but finally he looked at her. "Why are you saying this?"

"I saw you today" Jax tried to keep his emotions in check but looking at the hurt in her eyes made it harder.

"Today..." And instantly Haley knew what he was referring to. "Sam?" Haley placed her hand on his cheek. "I don't know what..."

Jax shook his head and pulled her hand from his face. "We're done Haley. What happened between us, it shouldn't have happened. Your just a kid."

"I'm a kid?" Haley shook her head. "How can you say that to me?" Haley stepped away from him her hand going to her stomach, his words taking the wind out of her. "I love you, you love me..."

"I do. But so does Sam."

"Jax..."

"Do you still love him?" Haley shook her head. "I SAW YOU KISS HIM."

"I pushed him away." Haley confessed her voice shaking with emotion.

Jax was confused by her answer he never saw that but regardless she still allowed him to kiss her and now she wasn't answering the question. "Answer the question Haley. Do you love Sam." Jax's words were harsh.

Haley wiped at her tears. "Your Mom was right." That comment caught his attention what did his mother have to do with this.

"What's this got to do with Gemma?"

"She told me that I needed to pick between you and Sam. I picked you but she told me I should pick myself and she was right." Haley closed the gap between them again. "I love you but if you don't trust that, this is never going to work. Yes Sam kissed me today and yes I didn't push him away quick enough, but I did push him away and I did that because of how I feel for you. But I can't be this girl Jax, I can't be the girl that comes between you two. So your right this is over." With tears streaming down her face she pressed her lips to his giving him one last kiss before heading to leave but she didn't get very far before Jax tried to stop her but she shrugged his hand off of her.

"Hales..."

Jax was shocked by her words and it hurt a lot more than he expected to hear her agree with him that this was over. He didn't stick around long enough to see Haley push his brother away and now he realised that he had made a mistake.

"Hales..." He reached for her again but time not letting her struggle out of his hold.

"Get off me Jax." She was crying uncontrollably now.

"Hales...Please..."

"No...let go..." Haley tried pulling herself free, she didn't want him touching her, didn't want him near her but he just kept trying to pull her closer.

"Please..."

"Jax..." It came from nowhere and she even shocked herself. For the second time today she slapped someone.

Both of them stood in silence, their breathing heavy but finally Jax let go of her. Haley found herself just staring at him, looking into his baby blue eyes. He looked sad which is why she didn't understand why he was doing this.

"I'm sorry."

"Yeah me too."

And with those last words Jax watched her leave. He ran his hand over his face before bracing his hands on his dresser. He hit his hand against the top before knocking everything off in anger. What was he doing?

He loved her.

Shoving his feet into his sneakers he ran out of his dorm after her. He reached parking lot but he couldn't see her.

"She's gone." Jax looked over his shoulder to see Bobby. "She looked upset. Everything okay?"

"No."

After heading back inside to get dressed Jax rode over to her house. He had try to tried to see her but her Dad wouldn't let him past the front door, In fact he had basically pushed him off his property yelling at him that he told him not to hurt his daughter.

As he stood outside of the house after Daniel slammed the door shut, he looked up and saw her in the window. Even in the darkness he could see she was upset.

He called out her name but Haley stepped back from the window and closed the curtains.

Jax understood her upset he had messed up badly and he didn't care what he needed to do he would make this right.
