Goodbye
"Son of a bitch." Clay seethed as he watched Jax being taking away. His brothers erupting in chorus of outrage but it was Gemma who caught his attention. She was just sat there. Shocked. But they all were no one expected that long of a sentence.
"Gem." He spoke gaining her attention. She was on her feet and Clay could her shaking. "He's going to be okay." But her attention was no longer on him it was on Haley. "Don't..." Gemma pushed passed him.
Haley took a breath as she saw Gemma coming towards her. "Gemma I'm sorry."
"That why you ran. Your Dad statement..."
"I didn't run, I didn't know."
"Mom." Sam snapped gaining his mothers attention. He shook his head warning her not to do this. But she ignored him.
"This is all on you. You did this. I want you to stay away from my family."
Haley nodded her head. Gemma was right his was her. She looked at Sam. "I'm sorry." And with that Haley ran out of the court room.
Daniel sat at the table with his mother. Haley hadn't slept in her bed. Most fathers would be worried but Daniel knew exactly where she was. Charming.
He wanted to go after her but his mother persuaded him not to.
But it was taking all of his power to stay put so when he heard the door open he was on his feet in a second.
"Haley..." He called out as he headed to the hallway. He could tell she had been crying. "What happened?"
"Three years." Haley wiped at her tears. "He got three years. You gave a statement?"
Daniel ran a hand over his face. It wasn't what she thought but yes after the night at the clubhouse seeing her with him it sparked something inside of him so the next day he had called officer Harris. His anger still there and he confirmed that Jax Teller was having sex with his daughter but he never expected that sort of sentence. He just wanted him away from his daughter.
"Haley."
"How could you. Jax has never done anything to hurt me. I left with you I wasn't going to see him. Why did you do it."
"Sweetheart."
"No. You wanted me away from the Tellers, well you got what you wanted Dad."
"Haley..." Daniel called after Haley ran up the stairs.
"Leave her Daniel." Daniel turned to look at his mother. "She needs time."
Three Weeks Later
Daniel opened the mailbox and grabbed the contents before walking into the house. Tensions had been frayed between himself and Haley, it was worse than ever. She was not talking to him, she was not eating she was barely looking at him.
Daniel missed his daughter and he hoped one day she would forgive him.
Walking into the house he started to shift through the mail but stopped when he got to a certain letter. It was from Stockton prison. Which meant it from Jax Teller.
"Daniel you okay?" He turned to see his mother standing there a towel in hand, he gathered she must have just the washing up.
"Letter from Stockton prison."
Sophie looked at her son. Since the moment her son and granddaughter arrived at her house she could tell that distance had grown between them. And it was sad to see. When Daniel had explained everything and asked if Haley could stay with her of course Sophie said yes, and of course Sophie could understand the anger from her son and the need to protect her, but Sophie knew young love when she saw it and from her own experience you just had to let these things play out but this situation had gotten real complicated.
"You need to give her that son. You need to be the bigger person here, you need to be the one to reach out."
"Yeah I know. Where is she?"
"Where she always is, in her room."
"Thanks Mom." Daniel gave his mother a kiss on the cheek before heading up stairs.
Daniel could hear the low hum of music coming through the door. He knocked lightly but when he didn't get a response he knocked louder. Still no response, so knowing that there was no lock on the door Daniel let himself in.
Haley was sat on the bed. She looked at him but quickly went back to looking at her book. He continued inside and took a seat on the edge of the bed.
"Sweetheart..." Haley looked up but never said anything. "Can we talk?" He watched as Haley looked back down at her book. Knowing they needed this Daniel pulled the book away from her replacing it with the envelope.
"What's this?" she asked finally speaking.
"My guess is its from Jackson."
He watched her open the letter. Her eyes reading over the letter quickly before she looked back up at her Dad.
"He wants to see me tomorrow."
Daniel nodded he expected as much. But again the thought of his daughter being around that he didn't like it, she should never have to see the inside of a prison. But then he thought of his mothers words, he needed to take the first step here or they were never going to find their way back. And what harm could Jackson do to her in prison.
"You can go tomorrow, speak to him." Daniel lent forward and kissed her on the forehead. "I know you hate me right now but I do love you Haley. Everything I do is to try and protect you." He got to his feet dropping another kiss on top of her head.
"I don't hate you Dad." Haley spoke just above a whisper. He gave her a smile.
Jax sat there waiting. She was the first visitation order he requested. He knew it would piss off his Mom but he didn't care, he needed to see her. And when he watched her walk into the room he couldn't stop the first real genuine smile cross his face but she looked nervous, and he hated that. However when she looked him the smiled that graced her lips matched his.
"Hey." Jax could hear the shake in her voice.
"Hey."
"Can I um...Can I hug you?" Jax nodded his head and within a second she was in his arms. It felt good to hug her, be close to her and he could feel like she needed it too.
Jax pulled away knowing that the hug was lasting a little to long and that was confirmed when he heard a guard call his name. He led Haley to his table.
"Are you okay?" She asked straight away.
"I'm good sweetheart." He lied as he reached for her hand.
"I'm so sorry about my Dad I didn't..."
Jax shook his head causing her to stop mid sentence. "I don't blame him" He rubbed his thumb over her hand. "You got the cast off."
"Yeah."
"Looks good." Haley smiled as he ran his hand up her arm. "Look don't hate your Dad okay."
"He shouldn't have given the statement Jax, he put you in here."
"Nah that was all me babe."
"No Jax it's not, I initiated things between us..." Jax shook his head.
"Nah took me some time to realise but I always wanted you Hales. This was going to happen, you didn't initiate anything. And your Dad is doing what any Dad would do. I mean if it was my 17 year old daughter and some charming good looking biker trying to date her I would probably kill him." Haley noted the seriousness in his voice even though he had a smile on his face. "Hales he was just trying to protect you."
"I know that's what he said but it doesn't matter. It's 3 years Jax. It's not fair."
"Like I said before Hales I'm not afraid to do the time."
Jax shifted in his seat. This was the part of the conversation that he didn't want have but he knew that they needed to have it. He held her hand tighter.
"But you shouldn't have to."
"What...what do you mean?" Haley asked suddenly not liking where this conversation was going.
"I love you Haley but you deserve better than this life. Waiting for me..."
"But I want to wait." He shook his head.
"No you don't. Trust me." Haley pulled his hand away.
"Why does everyone think they know what's best for me. I am capable of making my own decisions. I know this will be hard but I want to be with you Jax, I'm not ready to say goodbye to you I don't want to."
"Haley." He took her hand in his again "I want you to go to college I want you to live your life. I don't want you having to come here for visits."
"So is this you breaking up with me?" Haley asked still stunned by the way the conversation was.
"It's not like that..."
"It's exactly like that. Unlike Sam I guess at least you had the guts to do it to my face." Jax winced at the anger in her voice, he ran his hand over his face.
"Hales.
"Sorry." She that was harsh and it wasn't fair to bring Sam into this. But she was pissed after everything she didn't think that Jax would do this. "Maybe you're right maybe this wont work." She reached over and touched his face. "But maybe you're wrong." She ran her thumb over his cheek. and she felt Jax lean into her touch.
"I'm sorry Haley."
Haley dropped her hand from his face before wiping away a fallen tear. She took a shuddered breath before getting to her feet. Her legs feeling like jelly. "Bye Jax."
As she went to leave she felt a hand on her arm.
"I don't want to hurt you Hales."
"You just did."
"TELLER!" Both Jax and Haley looked over to the guard. He motioned for him to let go of Haley and he did. And as soon as he did Haley continued towards the exit.
"Haley...HALEY..." Jax shouted but she never looked back at him.
