Hello Again
Jax stopped the truck in the middle of main street and just watched her. Her hair had grown again and it fell down her back in lose waves. She looked pretty and he couldn't stop just watching her but as she got into the truck and turned on the ignition their eyes met.
He watched as she paused before she gave him a tight lip smile which he returned, but before he could do anything else she gave him a small wave before pulling her truck out and driving away.
Jax remained sat in his truck as she made a quick escape. He sat there until he heard a horn behind him. Being him back to reality Jax waved his hand in a way of apology. Putting his truck in drive Jax found himself doing a U-turn and heading in the direction Haley had driven off in. There was no reason behind it but he just wanted to see hear again.
Haley pulled up outside her Dads house. But before stepping out of the truck she took a moment. She hadn't expected to see him, which is why she drove away she wasn't ready to speak to him.
She had thought about the time that they would see each other again, she had run through the scenario multiple times but seeing him had completely caught her off guard.
Taking a deep breath she exited the truck grabbing her shopping but before she could make it up the steps she heard her name fall from his lips.
"Hales..."
She closed her eyes taking another deep breath before she turned and looked in the direction the voice had come from. She took him in. His hair was slightly longer, he had a beard and he looked bigger, stronger.
"Hi." She managed to croak out. Even she knew her voice sounded weak but she was nervous.
"Party?" Jax asked nodding his head towards the house. The music from the backyard echoed into the street.
"Yeah it's my Dad's birthday."
"Ah..." Jax walked towards her, his hands in pockets. "Guess I should make a quick escape because your Dad see's me."
"That might wise." Haley answered with a smile. "You look good." Haley spoke before she could stop herself.
"You look good too." He took the chance and moved closer to her. "You okay?"
Haley shook her head "Shouldn't I be the one asking that question.."
"I'm all good darlin..."
"Jax..."
"Look it's done Hales." Jax could see her concern so he raised his hands in a surrendering motion. "I'm out and in one piece. All good babe." She smiled at the nickname. "Finally a smile."
"Well I better go inside before this melts." Haley spoke holding up the bag of o nice.
"Yeah you should get back before your Dad misses you too."
"Yeah. It was nice to see you Jax."
"You too." Jax watched her walk up the steps to the her house before she went inside he called her name. "Hales..."
Haley turned around to see Jax jog up the steps towards her.
"Can I see you again?"
"Im only here for the weekend Jax."
"And im just about to leave for Tacomatonight." But there was something about the look on her face that told him even if she was here longer they wouldn't be spending anytime together. Which made him wonder. "How's College?"
"Good. I um...I met someone."
And there it was just what Jax had been fearing. It was like a punch to the gut but he understood. He couldn't expect her to wait for especially when he had been the one to push her away.
"I'm sorry Jax."
"You don't need to apologise Hales. He just better be treating you right." Haley nodded. "I better head out."
"Okay." Before he could stop himself he kissed her cheek. "Take care Hales."
"You too."
Haley watched Jax leave before heading inside. She could hear the laughter trickle through the house from the backyard. Her hand went to her cheek where Jax has kissed her. She'd missed him.
"You ready to leave son?" Clay asked as he stood in the doorway watching Jax pack his things.
"Yeah."
"Good." Clay went to walk away until Jax spoke again.
"You mind if I stay back with Sam."
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah just thought it was about time I met my niece."
"Sure, we can spare you both for a few days."
"Thanks Clay."
"You sure everything is okay son?"
"Yeah." Jax lied turning his back on Clay as he continued to pack. Truth was after hearing that she was seeing someone it hurt, but all he wanted was her to be happy even if that wasn't with him.
"Dadda..." Chrissie took a deep breath before following her daughter as she toddled towards the door. Chrissie didn't miss the disapproving look from her Father but he did what he always did and took a drink. Drinking had become a new habit ever since Chrissie had confessed the truth to her parents about Sam being the Father.
She had fought with her Dad daily. She knew she made a mistake in lying to Sam and she knew that admitting that lie could anger Sam so much that he may have tried to take her daughter away. But he hadn't instead Sam had agreed that Sophie should stay with her. But the way that her father was now Chrissie didn't know if that was for the best anymore.
Scooping up her daughter, Chrissie opened the door to see not only Sam but Jax too. She smiled at both them as Sophie called out Dadda again.
Sam ran up the steps and carefully took Sophie from Chrissie before spinning her around causing a giggle to escape from her. Sam spared a moment and dropped a kiss onto Chrissies cheek before walking inside his full attention on his daughter.
Jax observed the two. He was glad to see that they were moving on because he remembered how angry Sam had been when the truth was revealed but he was proud of his little brother for stepping up.
Walking up the steps Jax greeted Chrissie matching his brother and kissing her on the cheek. He had resentment for Chrissie over the pain that she and her friends had caused not only him but Haley, but she was the mother of his niece. And it wasn't her that gave the police the picture of him and Haley.
As he pulled away from her Jax noticed the faint bruise on her other cheek. He softly run his thumb over it but she quickly pulled away.
"What happened there?" Jax asked intrigued.
"Took a hit to the face from a building block." Chrissie watched Jax frown. "Toddler tantrum. Come on, come meet your niece."
Jax stood in the doorway as he watched Sam tuck Sophie in. "You're good with her."
Sam turned to look at his brother. "Ah it's easy when they are sleeping."
"Yeah I saw the bruise on Chrissie's cheek. Toddler tantrum apparently."
"Yeah she said earlier this week. Seems like this one has Gemma's temper." Jax nodded. It made sense now that his brother hadn't reacted to the bruise on Chrissie's cheek. Although he accepted the answer there was still something to Jax that seemed off. "We better head out to the Motel."
"Yeah sure. I'll meet you outside."
As Jax stepped outside pulling a pack of smokes from his cut he noticed the glow of a cigarette he was surprised to see Mr Carmichael.
"Are you leaving?"
"Yeah."
"Good." Jax watched him take a hit from his glass, which Jax presumed was full with Whiskey just like he had been drinking at the table during dinner and ever since him and his brother had stepped a foot through the door that afternoon He was drunk and Jax knew that he should walk away but there was that nagging feeling that found him walking closer to him instead of away.
"You don't like us do you? Probably hate the fact your grand kid is one of us."
"She'll never be one of you." Martin spat in anger as he got to his feet although a little unsteady.
"She's got Teller blood running through her you can't change that." Martin went to lunge at him but in his drunken state Jax was able to avoid his hit, meaning that Martin fell into the railing. Jax came up behind him.
"That's quite a temper you've got there. Hope that anger hasn't spilled onto anyone else." Shocked Martin steadied himself and turned to face Jax.
"What are you trying to say to me?"
"That bruise on Chrissie's cheek. You have anything to do with that?"
"What?"
"You heard me." Martin managed to steady himself and pushed Jax away.
"You come into my home and accuse hitting my daughter. Get out...GET OFF MY PROPERTY!"
"What's going on?"
Both men turned to face Sam who had joined them outside.
"You're done here that's what's going on."
"What?" Sam asked confused his eyes darting from Jax and Martin.
"You'll never see your daughter again. Now LEAVE."
Martin pushed past the both of them and went into the house. Both Jax and Sam heard the lock of the door behind him. Sam looked back at Jax.
"What did you say to him."
"Look..." Jax stopped as Sam stepped closer.
"NO Jax. You don't know how long it took me to get through those doors. To get to see my daughter. I'm not on the birth certificate Jax, I have no rights here!"
"I didn't know that."
"No you don't because you weren't here Jax. So whatever you said here tonight you fix it."
Jax looked at the house in front of him. His gut was still telling him that something was wrong but the thought of his brother losing his kid because of hi,. Jax couldn't live with that. He started walking up the steps when the door opened revealing Chrissie. She closed the door and started to walk down the steps meeting him.
"Jax."
"Morning." Jax met her on the stairs an they embraced each other in a hug. "I've come to apologise to your Dad."
"Yeah that's not going to happen." Jax frowned at her. "Look my Dads pissed okay. It's best if you guys leave today. I'll call Sam arrange another date."
"Look Chrissie." Jax placed a hand on her arm. "I never meant to cause any shit."
"I know. But this." Chrissie motioned to her eye. "It really was Sophie. My Dad isn't hurting me or any of us. Yes he's drinking a bit more but he's going through a rough patch with his work." She placed a hand on his arm. "I appreciate the care Jax I do but your wrong about this."
"Sam is going to be pissed."
"Well that's all on you." Chrissie teased. "Look tell him i'll arrange a long weekend to Charming. I'm sure Gemma will be more than pleased with that too."
"Yeah. I'm sorry if I was out of line."
"It's fine Jax. Just smooth it over with Sam."
"I will. Promise sweetheart."
Haley threw herself onto her bed. She had enjoyed the weekend it was good to see her Dad, old family friends but her mind was unsettled. She rolled onto her side as her mind went to the other person she had run into during her time in Charming. That memory was short lived though as she felt a weight beside her before an arm wrapped around her and a kiss was placed on her shoulder.
"Missed you."
Haley closed her eyes. She had been seeing Aaron for about 4 months. After seeing Jax for the second time Haley threw herself into college. She studied all the time barely attended any social functions. She basically closed herself off. Her friends had set her up on a couple of blind dates but they never went any further that 3 or 4 dates and Haley was ok with that but then she started to grow lonely, she missed the connection of having someone, being with someone.
So she let her friend drag her to a party and that was when she met Aaron. At first the guard that Haley had created around herself was up so again she started to avoid him, but he was persistent so she accepted his advances.
Aaron was a great catch, well according to her friends. He was 6ft, dark and handsome and studying to become a lawyer.
That was where their connection started. Haley was studying English but she had started thinking about law especially after the unfair trail Jax faced. She hated thinking of other innocent people going to prison for something they didn't do. So she picked up Law class.
Once she did that they started spending more and more time together, she found his knowledge and passion for Law inspiring to listen to. But there was still one thing that they hadn't done. They hadn't slept together yet. It was completely on her, for some reason she just couldn't bring herself to cross that line. And after seeing him, Jax, she realised it was because of him. Jax had been her first and she really thought he would be last.
"Haley."
"Hmm"
"How was the party?"
"Yeah it was good."
"Wish I could of come with you." Aaron spoke into her ear.
"It was a family thing." Haley shifted but Aaron pulled her back to him this time so she was facing him. He placed a kiss on her lips
"I'd love to meet your Dad "Aaron..."
"I know you're not ready." She felt his hand move down her spine till he reached her lower back. He pulled her close so she was flush against him. "Haley we've been dating for 4 months. I want to be close to you."
"I kn..." Her words were cut off with a kiss on her lips. "Aaron..." She spoke against his lips.
"Haley come on. I love you."
Haley was frozen with the admittance of his love and her mind went straight to Jax. But before she could say anything his lips were on hers again.
