Haley stirred, her hand coming up to wipe her tired eyes. It was her phone. She reached onto the bedside table grabbing her phone.
"Hello." She answered still half asleep.
"Hey."
Suddenly Haley felt awake at the sound of his voice. She sat up in her bed. "Jax?"
"Yeah"
The two of them fell silent. Without the other knowing they had never stopped thinking about one another. And right now they were the only one each of them could think about. That was why Haley was at her grandmothers house and Jax was calling her at 1am.
"Are you okay?" Haley thought about the question. She knew the answer but she wasn't sure what to say and Jax clearly sensed her resistance to answer. "Hales."
"No." She finally answered.
Jax ran a hand over his face at hearing her answer. He had wanted to call her straight away after his chat with Sam because he was worried, he guessed just like his brother, but Club business had come up and that came first so he couldn't call her but as soon as he had arrived back at the clubhouse he had climbed up the ladder to the roof and called her. He knew it was late but he needed to know if she was okay, but clearly she wasn't.
"I'm coming to Berkeley."
"No." Haley spoke again
"Haley I'm..."
"I'm not at Berkeley." Haley spoke cutting Jax off. "I'm at my grandmothers."
Jax was surprised by her answer but unfortunately it just worried him more. "Can I see you?"
"I'd like that." Jax could swear he could hear her cry.
"Tomorrow."
"Okay."
The following morning Jax woke early. He walked into the kitchen and wasn't surprised to see his mother up and about in the kitchen.
"Coffee?" She offered and Jax just nodded.
Gemma watched her son. Tig had told her what had happened between her sons and who was the cause of it. Gemma really thought that they had moved on from this, but after the other morning when Sam kicked off at Jax over Chrissie it was then that Gemma realised how much damage Haley had caused between her sons.
"You're up early." She spoke handing him a cup of coffee.
"Yeah got some things to do."
"You gonna see Wendy?" Jax smirked at his mother. Always so nosey.
Wendy was a new girl at the club. She had been working the bar the night he was released. She was cute and it had been 3 years since he had been with a woman. They slept together and it had started to become a bit of a regular hook up, but to Jax that's all it was to Jax, a warm body.
"No."
"Club business?"
"No." Jax answered with a shake of his head before taking a sip of his coffee.
"Haley?" Jax just looked at Gemma. Slowly moving the cup from his lips and placing the cup on the side. "Tig told me what happened yesterday." Jax nodded, of course Tig had come running to Gemma.
"Clay know?"
"No." Gemma stepped closer to Jax. "But baby you two can't open up old wounds. Club doesn't need it."
"Shit between me and Sam has nothing to do with the club." He took another sip of his coffee.
"You did hard time because of her, 3 years! Your the VP now, Club can't afford to lose you again."
"Mom I'm not going anywhere." He said with a smile knowing what she was really referring to her. She didn't want him inside and truth was Jax didn't want to go back inside. He lent in and kissed her cheek.
"Don't get drawn back in baby."
"Haley ain't a kid any more Mom. And the time I did wasn't on her. I knew how old she was and I knew what I was doing. Plus she's family and something's not right. That's why Sam was pissed yesterday. I just need to check she is okay. Nothing else." Jax spoke honestly knowing that it was the only way to appease his mother.
Gemma pursed her lips. She heard the words but she knew her son to well and she knew Haley. She may not have seen her in 3 years but she was a beautiful girl, taking straight after her mother. Gemma knew that her 17 year old body would have developed into something more meaning that that as soon as her son laid eyes on her he would be like a dear in the headlights, blinded by past love and a new developed body. She hoped that she was wrong. But Jax was a romantic. He would be the same about Tara.
When Tara had left him, he buried himself in pussy and since getting out Jax had done the same but this time with just one Wendy. Gemma liked Wendy. From what she had seen Wendy got the club, liked it even. Liked how it made the man. And she was pretty. Another blonde and Gemma was sure that was a coincidence. But Wendy could be good for him. Now that he was the VP he needed a strong woman next to him, Wendy could be that. Haley would be a distraction, Haley would bring back the drama between her sons.
"Just remember your priorities."
"Bye Mom." He kissed her again this time on the head before he left.
As Jax straddled his bike he thought about what his mother had said and he actually got it. But he also couldn't ignore Haley.
Haley kissed her Grandmother goodbye. She had a knitting group that she was attending, she mentioned cancelling it but Haley encouraged her to go especially as Jax was coming. So as Haley watched her get into the car and drive away she ran back inside and quickly got ready knowing that Jax was due soon.
She settled on a pair jeans and a white blouse. She had tamed her wiled curls into soft waves. She applied light make up because her hands were shaking, she was nervous.
She heard the rumble of his bike.
Haley ran down the stairs before opening the door. She watched as Jax parked up and removed his helmet. She smiled at him as he started to walk towards her.
Jax took her in. She looked good, real good. He liked her hair, the curls we softer but it looked good. But he could see it in her eyes, something was wrong and now he understood his brothers concerns.
Walking up to the house they said an awkward hello. Jax going for a kiss on the cheek and Haley going for a hug. They settled on both.
Haley invited him in and quickly ushered him to take a seat. She was talking a lot. She was nervous and when he watched her pour the tea she had made. He didnt miss the shake of her hand.
Everything was setting off alarm bells to Jax. He thought about his confrontation with Sam. Him accusing him of threatening her. It told Jax that she must have felt afraid, scared. And his mind went to one thing.
"So how's the boyfriend?" Jax asked bluntly cutting through the small talk. He watched her still for a moment before taking a sip of her own tea. He waited for a response but nothing so he continued. "I spoke to Sam. He's worried. And got to say seeing you today I'm kinda worried too. Why are you here Hales and not at college?"
"I um... I'm on break."
"From college or the boyfriend."
"Jax..."
"What happened Hales?" Jax's mind was going in overdrive and he really didn't like the where it was going. He shifted in his seat moving closer to her as he reached out to hold her hand but she pulled away and that just flared something inside of him. "He hurt you?"
Haley could see the worry etched all over Jax's face. She remembered that look after her accident with Steve. But this time Aaron really didn't hurt her.
"Hales."
"I slept with him." Haley confessed and she saw Jax shift in his seat. "He's the first person I've slept with since...since you." Haley wiped at her eyes feeling her tears burn. But her grandmothers words ran through her mind but the way that Jax was avoiding her eye contact killed Haley. She got to her feet. "I need some water." She mumbled before getting to her feet and fleeing to the kitchen.
Haley stood at the sink. Her hand shaking as she turned on the top and filled her glass with water. She closed her eye as she took a sip and that was when she felt him come up behind her.
Jax didn't like hearing that she had slept with with this guy. It had been 3 years, he knew it would happen, hell he was sleeping with Wendy on the regular these days but knowing some other guy had their hands on her he just wanted to kill that guy. But Haley had done nothing wrong and she needed to know that.
"Hales." He spoke quietly behind her.
Haley turned around to face him. They just looked at one another their eyes doing all the talking before Haley spoke. "He wasn't you."
And with those words Jax crashed his lips against hers in a kiss that she returned. It had been so long that both were hungry for one another.
He wrapped his arm around her waist and lifted her up turning around and sitting her on top of the kitchen island. His lips moved from her mouth to her neck. He felt her reaction to each touch but she suddenly pulled away.
"My grandmother bakes on this island." Haley slid of the counter, her body ending up flush against his.
She took his hand in her's and led hers and led him upstairs. As they entered the spare room Haley took a seat on the bed as Jax stood in front of her. Even though she was of the legal age she still looked so young, she looked sad and Jax knew he had caused that hurtm but as she reached out for him and he took her hand and let him pull him closer.
Jax kissed her deeply before stepping back and undressing. He removed his sneakers , Kute and tshirt leaving him just there in his jeans.
Watching him undress Haley slowly unbuttoned her blouse revealing a white laced bra. She watched as his eyes ran over her. She stood up and unbuttoned her jeans pulling them down her over her toned thighs.
Jax watched her undress. Seeing her standing there her body had changed, not massively but from knowing every inch of her he could see the difference. Her breasts had gone up a cup she was at least a C now, she had curves. She'd always been slim but now the curve of hip was a little more pronounced. She was beautiful.
They stood in front one another for the first time in 3 years both needing the other.
Jax reached out his hand resting on the nape of her neck as he pulled her in for a kiss.
Her hands went to his belt buckle fully indicating what she wanted. She pulled down his jeans and his boxers revealing his hardness before Jax guided her back towards the bed.
Laying her down on the bed he positioned himself on top of her as his one hand came up and cupped her breast His fingers pulled at her bra letting her breast escape. His lips quickly found her nipple.
Haley moaned in pleasure. She wanted him. Needed him.
Jax was gentle. He caressed her body but when he entered her that was what Haley needed, what they both needed. They fit, they were right for one another and they both knew it.
Jax had lost himself just being in her presence. He came inside her. Haley reassuring him that she was on the pill. The feeling of being connected like that after 3 years they both felt complete.
They lay in one another's arms, both enjoying the peace they felt.
"What do we do now?" Haley spoke breaking their silence.
Jax wasn't surprised by the question he was thinking the same thing. His stance in the club had changed. His mother reminded him of that this morning but he loved Haley and being with her today just reinforced for him the love he had for her. He couldn't and wouldn't lose her again but he wasn't sure how to make this work right now but as he looked at her he reached out an tucked her blonde hair behind her ear.
"We just do this, us." He kissed her again. His hands were just starting to make down her body again when they both heard the door downstairs open.
"Crap. That's my grandmother."
Haley shot up and quickly started grabbing her clothes. Jax doing the same.
Once fully dressed they both made their way downstairs and unsurprisingly they were met by her grandmother.
"Jackson."
"Mrs Parker."
Sophie looked at Haley and although she looked a little worried, she guessed because she had arrived home early her grandmother expected to see Jax.
"Lets all sit." Sophie looked over to her coffee table and noticed the tea set. "Haley. Make us some more tea please."
Haley and Jax exchanged a look before Haley walked into the kitchen. Sophie watched as Jax watched Haley disappear.
"Come on." Sophie motioned to the couch where they both took a seat. "You've grown up"
"You look the same." Jax responded with his famous Teller smile. But it was the truth. He hadn't seen her since she moved to Napa which was about 10 years ago. Daniel and Haley seemed to make the visits after her husbands death so it had been a long time since Sophie had been to Charming. But both he and his brother always liked her. Aside from his mother she had the best baked goods. "That's very nice of you to say Jackson, even if it is a lie." She gave him a wink before looking over her shoulder to see if they were still still alone.
"So you're in love with my granddaughter." Sophie stated taking a seat in her favourite chair. She noticed the look on Jax's face. "It's okay. You boy's have always been in love with her. Just you love a little harder." She rationed as Haley entered the room with a freshly brewed tray of tea.
"I'm sorry grandma." Haley spoke as she took a seat "I should have told you I was having a guest."
"That's okay dear. We were just talking about you." Sophie watched as Haley looked at Jax as she poured the tea. Sophie grabbed her cup. "But now I am going to leave you two to talk." She got to her feet taking her tea as she left the room.
"You know she totally scares the shit out of me." Jax spoke looking back at Haley who was smiling at his words.
"She's harmless."
"Nah, never underestimate a woman who is protecting her family."
"Yeah and that's why Gemma scares the shit out of me." Jax looked at Haley curiously.
"That why you don't want to come back to Charming, my Mom?"
Haley took a sip of tea. Sleeping with Aaron was wrong, it all felt wrong. Being with Jax today it confirmed everything, but nothing was easy between them. It was never going to be and that scared her.
"I don't want to hurt anyone Jax."
"But..."
"But I still love you, I never stopped." Jax got from his seat and crouched in front of her taking her hands in his.
"I never stopped loving you either." He reached up and tucked her hair behind her ear. She leaned into his touch. "Why don't we just focus on us, till you figure out what you want to do."
"This isn't just about me though."
"Hales you come first, always." And with that he kissed her.
