Mike and Lowery were driving around town on their way to talk to some of the ex-employees of the Everlasting company. Mike and Lowery have a competitive rivalry, they were always trying one up each other trying to get the big story and impress the boss. Mike thinks that Lowery is a young disrespectful punk and Lowery thinks that Mike is over the hill and that his best years of reporting are far behind him, but nevertheless they both care about Casey and if she's being scammed, they want to expose it.

"You know Ed, I can't understand how someone as smart as Casey get caught up in some get rich quick scheme." Said Mike

"Yeah, well Mike, you'd be surprised how many smart people can fall to these schemes. The thought of the good life is too good to pass up." Said Lowery

"This is why Daniel Reid started the Sentinel, to take down these racketeers and I'm glad that Britt is continuing his father's legacy." Said Mike

"Yeah, well we don't know for sure if this is a racket which is why the boss wanted us to tread lightly." Said Lowery

"Not all Racketeers can be as obvious as the Green Hairnet" said Mike in a crisp Irish Accent

"Oh no Mike, please don't start with the Hornet shit. It's Bad enough that I have to this story with you, and you will not drive me crazy." Lowery warned

A few moments later they arrive at the home of George and Lillian Hayes two former employees of Everlasting. They ring the doorbell and a woman answers the door

"Is this the Hayes residence?" Lowery asked

"Yes, I'm Lillian Hayes." the woman responded

"I'm Ed Lowery and this is Mike Axford were reporters with the Sentinel" he said introducing himself

"Please come in.," said Mrs. Hayes

They go into the living room where Mr. Hayes was sitting in his chair. The couple appear to be in their mid-forties

"What can we do you for you?" Mr. Hayes asked

"We're here to talk to you about Everlasting." Said Lowery

"We understand that you work for them?" Mike asked

"Yes, and those bastards scammed us out of eighty thousand dollars." Said Mr. Hayes

"We wanted to put some extra money into our kid's college fund. We were struggling just to pay the bills and the mortgage that we couldn't save enough." Said Mrs. Hayes

"Yeah, until Everlasting came along. They offered the chance for us to make more money and be our own Boss selling their Health and beauty products." Said Mr. Hayes

"We kept trying to sell and recruit which caused us to pay more money." Says Mrs. Hayes

"Until we had no more money to invest so we had to stop. Our kids will either have take out student loans which they will be stuck with for the rest of their lives or they won't go." Says Mr. Hayes

"We're sorry." Said Mike showing sympathy

"I hope you guys and the Sentinel nail those crooks especially that rat bastard Vogel." Said Mr. Hayes

"We'll do our best." Said Lowery as they both walk out

They get in the car and drive to their next location, Lowery takes out a piece of paper and reads of the next name

"Stan Lawson." Said Lowery

"Wait did you say Stan Lawson?" Mike asked recognizing the name

"Yeah, you know him?" Lowery asked

"He used to my partner when I was on the force." Mike responded

They arrived at the apartment building where Lawson lives. They go inside and find his apartment. They knocked on the door and Lawson answered, he immediately recognizes Mike

"Mike, what are you doing here?" Lawson asked

"I'm here because I'm doing a story on Everlasting and I know that you used to work for them." Said Mike

"I know what you're thinking how could a cop like me not spot a con like this?" said Lawson asking himself

"What Happened?" Lowery asked

"After I retired, I knew that I needed to find another job. So, I stumbled upon an Ad about Everlasting I applied and I recruited some of my retired cop buddies and rose to the rank of distributor. I thought that I was on my way to easy street until I found out that putting in more then what I was getting back and realized that I was being scammed." Said Lawson

"Stan, why didn't you call me?" Mike asked

"Honestly Mike, I was embarrassed we were cops we're trained to spot scams like this." Said Lawson

"Well don't worry buddy, we at the Sentinel are going to expose Everlasting once and for all." Said Mike as he and Lowery walk out

"Well looks like the Boss was right Everlasting is running a scam." Said Lowery

"You know Ed, I used to think that the Hairnet was the worst criminal out there. This Vogel guy gives him a run for his money." Said Mike

"Well, we have couple more stops to make before we report back to the boss." Said Lowery as they drive off.
