Old Flame
Sam didn't know why he ended up where he was, he had intended to go home, see his baby girl but somehow he rode in a different direction. He wasn't sure if she would be awake but as he approached the room the guy at reception had told him she was in and he could see the glow of Television.
He knocked on the door, as he waited he heard her fumble before opening the door slightly.
"Hey."
"Is Sophie okay?" He could see the panic in her eyes.
"She's fine. Can I come in?" He watched her hesitate before closing the door and unhooking the latch letting him inside.
Sam looked around. It was a shit hole. A place he would never expect to see Chrissie Carmichael but then again he never expected to share a child with her or a last name but he did and right now after today she was the only one he needed.
"Sam..."
"This wasn't the first time was it?" He motioned to the bruises on her face. She never answered but she didn't need to Sam knew it wasn't.
Sam had already pieced together that Jax had been right when they were in Tacoma. It wasn't a building block, it wasn't Sophie, that bruise was from her Dad. Sam couldn't help but feel angry. Angry at her Dad, angry at Chrissie for not telling him the truth. Angry at Jax for being right but most of all he was angry with himself. But he also remembered what Haley had told him that he had think about what Chrissie wanted and Haley was right but there was also Sophie he needed to think about.
"I don't want Sophie going back there." Sam tried to keep his tone calm.
"We're not." He watched as her eyes looked around and suddenly he realised that this was where she planned on staying. Okay it was better than being in an abusive home but it still wasn't good enough, if the sketchy neighbours were anything to go by.
"Stay with me."
"What?" Sam had her full attention now but he could tell that she was confused. Sam moved closer to her, his hands resting on her arms.
"You and Sophie stay with me." Chrissie smirked and shook her head.
"With your mom you mean. No way. Sam I told you I don't want everyone knowing about this." Sam could feel her start to pull out of his grasp but he stopped her.
"The clubhouse then. Chris...Chrissie..." Their eyes locked. "I just want you to be safe."
"My Dad isn't a bad guy Sam he jus..."
"I know. I'm not going to do anything to your Dad. But Chrissie I just want you and Sophie safe just while things calm down."
Chrissie felt it, the familiar ache in her heart whenever he looked at her the way he was looking at her now, and before she could think straight her lips were on his . It was the briefest of kisses before her head caught up with her heart and she pulled away but what surprised her most was Sam never let her. He pulled her back to him and kissed her. Chrissie felt the need behind the kiss and that was when she gave into her heart.
The kiss quickened and Sam quickly removed his Kutte and tshirt. As he pulled away from the kiss he watched as Chrissie removed her own shirt to reveal a black lacy bra. She was beautiful and right now she was exactly what he needed.
Jax entered his dorm, two cups of coffee in his hand. Haley wasn't there but he noticed that the door to the bathroom was closed. Taking a quick sip of his coffee he settled both of top of the dresser and started digging out a shirt when he heard the door open. His eyes went straight to her but when he saw her he couldn't stop the frown.
"That bad?" She spoke softly.
Jax shook his head. She was stood there in the white dress, the dress that was now stained with her blood and her hand was wrapped in a bandage. It was just another reminder of last night. Ignoring his search for his shirt he walked towards her.
"You look beautiful."
"Liar." She spoke as her lips curved into a smile. "Think you could take me home before I go back to college." She watched him raise a brow. "Dad will be at work and I don't think I can really turn up to Berkeley looking like this."
Jax pulled her towards him wrapping his arms around her small frame. "You look hot." He said with a wink and a smile which caused her to laugh, but Haley stopped when she watched his face go back to concern. "You sure you're okay though?"
"Yes." She spoke. "Are you?" Jax nodded and Haley lent on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on his lips. "Then put a shirt on or we'll never leave this room."
"I have no problem with that." Jax teased kissing her again.
"As amazing as that would be I need to get back to college. Plus I want to speak to my dad before I leave." Jax frowned. "I really missed him yesterday Jax."
"I know." Jax dropped a kiss on top of her head.
Jax followed Haley up the steps to the house but as Haley went to unlock the door she was surprised to find it already unlocked and Haley knew that only meant one thing, her Dad was home. Now as much as Haley wanted to speak to her Dad she was very aware of how she looked. She quickly spun round to face Jax.
"My Dads here..."
"Shit." Jax knew exactly why she was worried right now.
They both went to head back to her truck but before they could get down the steps Haley heard her name. She looked up to Jax but his eyes were locked over his shoulder and she knew that he was looking at her Dad.
"Haley..." Daniel called out and Haley knew that there was nowhere to hide. Daniel started to speak again but stopped when Haley turned around. Haley watched as he eyed her appearance, the concern suddenly went to anger. "Get inside Haley..."
"Dad..." With those words right away Haley knew what her Dad was thinking.
"Mr Parker." Jax spoke thinking he should show some respect.
"Did you do this..." Daniel shouted making his way down the steps towards them
"NO..." Haley snapped standing in front of Jax. "I fell."
"I said get inside." Daniel snapped again his anger clear. But Haley was done.
"ENOUGH Dad." Both men were shocked by her out of character outburst as she stood between them.
"Hales..." Haley looked over her shoulder at Jax.
"Can you give us a minute" She noticed his eyes go over her shoulder. "It's fine just wait for me okay." Jax nodded before leaning down and kissing her, his eye not leaving Daniels.
Haley watched him leave before turning back to her Dad.
"Lets go inside." Daniel nodded. He waited for her to get inside before he stopped looking at Jax to follow her inside.
"I fell, it was an accident. No one is to blame but my own stupidity." Haley spoke firmly but calmly as she turned to face her Dad as he closed the door behind them. "It was at Fun Town. And if you had been there you would have seen it for yourself." Haley hated that she was lying but she knew that if he knew the truth he would never accept her and Jax.
"I don't like you being with him Haley."
"I know, but I love him and you are going to have to get right with that because I love you too." She closed the gap between them. "I love you Dad." She took his hand in hers. "I love both of you and I need both of you in my life, I need you Dad it's always been us."
"Haley he hurt you before, they have all hurt you and I just worry for you."
Daniel admitted because he just didn't want her to get hurt. She was all he had and he wanted to protect her. After speaking with his mother he knew that Jax and Haley and spent the week together and it had frustrated him because Haley had said nothing which meant that his daughter was lying to him and as he looked at her standing in front of him with a bandage on her hand and a blood stained summer dress, he wondered if what she was saying to him now was a lie. He had to look after her.
"You don't need to worry about me Dad. I promise, Jax loves me." Haley spoke breaking the silence.
"I'm sure he does." And Daniel meant that. He knew that Jax loved his daughter but he was just worried that that love was going to hurt his daughter.
"I need you to accept us Dad. Please."
"I'm always here for you sweetheart." And with that Daniel pulled Haley to him as he embraced her in a hug. He squeezed her tightly and he felt her return it. He loved his Daughter.
Jax blew out the smoke from his cigarette as he looked back at the house. He knew that if his relationship was ever going to go the distance Haley needed her Dad. He knew that he should probably be back at the clubhouse now but he couldn't and wouldn't leave her.
Haley was special. He couldn't explain it. With Tara right away he knew he loved her, they were in high-school that connection was there instantly, she was the cheerleader and he was the badboy. This was why he understood the relationship of Sam and Chrissie. But Tara left, she wanted more. Wendy was a stop gap, but Haley, Haley was always there. Jax could pinpoint the moment his feelings changed for Haley but he had denied those feeling for a long time, but when he finally gave in and she returned the feeling he knew it was right, he had made the mistake of letting her go once he wasn't going to do it again.
Jax inhaled his cigarette. It had been 30 minutes when he finally saw the door open.
He watched Haley make her way down the steps of her house. She was now dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a simple black top. Her mass of blonde curls were tumbling around her face.
As she approached he threw his almost spent cigarette out the window. Haley pulled open the door of her truck and slid into the passenger seat
"You okay?" Jax asked sensing some tension.
"I just lied to my Dad." Haley admitted as her hazel eyes finally met his and he could see the sadness lingering in them. He didn't need her to explain what she had lied to him about because he watched as she cradled her injured hand. "I don't want to do it again."
Jax couldn't agree more. Seeing her hurt was the worse feeling for him and he never wanted to see her hurt again especially because of the club. He reached out placing his hand on her thigh giving it a squeeze.
"You won't have to. I promise." Haley gave him a tight lipped smile that never quite reached her eyes and Jax hated that. He needed to do better. "I'm Sorry." Jax confessed and he was pleased when she finally rested her hand ontop of his.
"I Love you."
"I love you too."
She gave a squeeze of his hand. "I um left my cell in your dorm can we go back there before going to Berkeley."
"Sure."
And with that he watched her eyes leave his as she stared back at her house and their hands fell away from one another
"So you can stay here, Sophie can be with my Mom but if you want her here then I can get a crib set up." Sam spoke as he placed her bags on his bed.
Chrissie knew that she would run into Gemma but Sam had promised her that no one would question her about her black eyes, that she would have to explain herself so that had led to her agreeing to stay at the clubhouse, also it was free and for the first time in her life Chrissie was broke. But she couldn't be without her baby.
"How about we set up a crib and maybe share. I know what the parties here can be like." Chrissie spoke with a smile over her shoulder as she was took in the room.
"Yeah" Sam agreed with his famous Teller grin as his memory flashed back to the parties they had attended together. "You're gonna be alright you know."
His words caught Chrissie by surprise and she suddenly stopped unpacking. There was something different about Sam and Chrissie couldn't quite put her finger on it. But she felt like they both needed each other last night but something had changed between them.
Chrissie walked over to Sam. "Thank you." He looked at with a frown. "I know we've been through a lot and I lied to you about Soph..."
"Stop." Sam spoke cutting her off. "You did nothing wrong, it was all on me. I know I treated you bad Chrissie but I want to be here for you now, I want to help you." Sam lent down capturing her lips. Chrissie allowed his kiss and returned it for the briefest of kisses. Sam smiled at her as he leaned back. "So are you ready? See the guys."
"No time like the present right?"
"That's a girl."
And with that Sam took her hand in his and lead her down the hall way. Before they got to the end he turned back to look at Chrissie giving her a reassuring wink but as he turned back around he stopped when he saw Jax and Haley standing in front of him.
