Chapter 4: Disaster And Birth Of A Hero
Next thing they saw, the gigantic Titan opened his mouth and charged some kind of pinkish energy ball in his mouth. Seeing this, everyone's hearts began to race faster. People started to panic and try to run away as fast as they can, but it was too late. Once the Titan charged the energy ball in his mouth, he shot it out of it in a form of an energy wave. Soon enough the pink energy wave collided with the wall…
…creating the biggest explosion humanity has ever seen.
The explosion was too big and powerful that Licht and his friends were blown away. More than half of Shiganshina District was covered in a cloud of dust. Licht slowly opened his eyes. Everything was at first blurry and he couldn't see quite well. He then started to cough because of how thick the smoke was until he felt something warm on his forehead. Licht brought a hand to his forehead, and saw a red and warm liquid. It was his own blood!
Panicked, he quickly pulled himself and sat on the ground as he started to examine himself. He was covered in blood and bruises, but nothing too serious. He let out a sigh of relief, but just then he remembered what happened a moment ago. A giant titan just blew up the wall.
"Eren! Armin! Mikasa!" He shouted as he called his friends' names while examining his surrounding at the same time. He couldn't see anything. The dust was just so thick.
Licht stood up on his feet again, although with some effort. He started to run in every direction. He was worried about his friends. What happened to them? Did the Titan get them? No, it can be true. They're alive, I'm sure of it.
"Eren! Mikasa! Armin!" Licht yelled louder than before, but was met with no response once again. "No, please don't tell me you guys are dead… I can't accept it! Eren! Armin! Mikasa! Where are you?!" He was starting to get desperate.
Shortly after, the dust began to settle, and Licht was slowly able to see what happened to Shiganshina District. What he saw made his heart sink in his stomach. A big part of the wall was utterly destroyed. It was big enough that two giant Titans like the one who blew up the wall could easily walk side by side and pass through it. However, what was truly horrifying was that a third of Shiganshina District was obliterated, nothing was left of it, and the second third was in ruins. The last thing Licht noticed was the dozens of corps around him, dead bodies were spotted everywhere around him. It was only then that Licht remembered what his father said about the Titans destroying the wall three years ago.
"No, it happened, I-I… failed to protect them…" He said with wide eyes as tears began to form in the corners of his eyes. He fell on his knees, thinking that it was over and that the Titans killed his friends and brother and were now going to kill all of the citizens, including him. His breath got heavier, and his desperation was slowly turning into rage. He started to feel something bottle up inside him. Small debris around him could be seen shaking, until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked back and saw Armin.
"Armin! Are you alright?! Are you okay?! Are you hurt or anything?! Did you see Eren and Mikasa?!"
Armin was overwhelmed by the number of questions, but somehow the adrenaline rush in his body helped his mind process all of them at once. "I have a few bruises, but I'm fine. I don't know about Eren and Mikasa. I didn't see them, but since we're both still alive, my guess is that they're alive too."
Hearing this, Licht let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Thank goodness you're alive." Licht said as hope was returning to his eyes again.
However, the two boys started to hear screams coming from everywhere. They looked back and were once again reminded of their predicament.
"Th-Th-The Titans… They're coming inside!" Armin shakily pointed out as he was truly terrified by the dozens of Titans invading their home. "Th-They blew th-the wall, and the-they're now coming inside." Armin stuttered as he and Licht were forced to watch the Titans hunting the citizens of Shiganshina
"-The Titans are coming!" One of the civilians shouted in distress while running away with other people.
Licht was also prepared to run away when he remembered something important. His house. What happened to his mother? She was at home! She could be in danger!
"It's all over. This town… is going to be overrun by-" Armin began but was interrupted by Licht who took his hand and started to run at an incredible speed, forcing Armin to run too in order to keep up with Licht's pace. The blonde boy was worried that if he slows down for a second, he would stammer and fall. "Licht, where are we going?! Slow down, I can't keep up!"
"I can't! Our house may have been destroyed because of that blast. I need to check and see if my Mom is okay!" Licht shouted, determined to make it to his house no matter what. He was going to save his mother! "Besides, your family lives near the evacuation center, so they'll be fine. I just need to make sure that mine is safe!"
"It's impossible, your house is too far from here! You won't make it!" Armin argued.
"I will!" Licht shot back.
"You can't, the Titans will eat you first!" Armin yelled, thinking that Licht was crazy to think that he would get to his house before getting eaten. The Titans were just a few hundred meters away from them.
Licht then stopped in his tracks for a moment. "Yeah. I won't be able to make it if I take you with me. So run Armin, run to the evacuation center." Licht said, not wanting to waste a second to find his family and save them.
"No, I can't leave you! You'll die! Stop being stubborn and reckless for once and listen to me! You can't do anything against the Titans. You're scared too. I saw you shaking when I found you earlier!" Armin angrily shouted. He knew what his friend wanted to do was suicidal, and he wasn't going to let him do that. There was at least a mile between where they were and Licht's house.
"I said go, Armin! Go!" Licht angrily shouted too.
"Why can't you just understand the situation we're in?!"
"You're the one who doesn't understand anything!" Licht yelled and pushed Armin away. "I'm sorry, Armin…" Licht said before he took a deep breath. "But I don't want to lose anyone today." Licht calmly said before he took off at full speed.
"Idiot, don't you think we want you to save yourself too?" Armin said in frustration, before he too ran away. But he wasn't going to run away with the intention of doing so. He knows that he's weak and helpless. That's why all of his friends were there to save him every time he would get bullied. But this time, he would prove them that he can be useful as he had an idea in his mind.
Back with Licht, the boy was running faster and faster. He didn't notice this because he was currently focused on saving his family and reaching his house as fast as possible. But right now, he just ran half a mile in one minute. Once he arrived, he saw the approaching Titans, his mother who was trapped under the rubble that was once his house, and Eren and Mikasa trying to get Carla out of the rubble.
"Mom…" He muttered with a horrified expression on his face. "No, Mom!" He ran to her and started to lift the pillar with Eren and Mikasa.
"Licht, stop! Take Eren and Mikasa and run away. Hurry, you're the one who always listen to me!" She shouted, not wanting the kids to get eaten by the Titans.
"I won't! I can't run away without you!" He shot back, still trying to lift the pillar but it was too heavy. If only he was stronger.
"My legs are crushed by the rubble. Even if I get out of here, I can't run. You understand, right?" She tried to reason with Licht, knowing that he was more obedient than Eren. However, she had no idea that Licht could prove to be more stubborn than his twin brother in situations like these.
"No! We'll run away while carrying you!" Licht shouted in frustration. Why couldn't he lift the pillar already? Why is he so weak? Can't he see that his family is in danger? Those were his thoughts.
"We're not going to leave you here!" Eren shouted with tears in his eyes. Deep inside he knew that it was pointless, his mother will die and they won't be able to do anything to save her. The situation was hopeless.
"Why don't you ever listen to what I tell you?! At least listen to my final request!" She was frustrated. She knew that her destiny was sealed, that she will die by the hands of the Titans. But she at least hoped that her kids would survive. "Licht!"
"No!" Licht immediately protested.
"At this rate, the four of us will…" She began.
"NO! I WON'T LET ANYONE DIE!" Licht shouted as he ran towards the approaching blonde Titan. If he can't lift the pillar, then he was going to fight the Titans.
However, before he could reach the Titan, Hannes came in with his ODM gear, picked him up and flew back to Carla, Eren and Mikasa.
"Let me go, Hannes!" Licht struggled to break free of Hannes' hold.
"Hannes! Take the children and run away!"
"I can't have you thinking I'm that small a man, Carla. I'll butcher the Titan and make sure to save all four of you!" Hannes replied before he went to face the approaching blond Titan.
"Wait! Don't fight it!" Carla shot back, knowing that it's hopeless to fight the Titans, and that the soldier would get himself killed, just like the many soldiers who died before him.
She's right. If it's just the three of them, we can get away. But this is the time for me to make good on my debt! Hannes thought, determined to slay the Titan and save those four.
However, as soon as that determination appeared, it quickly disappeared when he came face to face with the Titan. He was immediately able to tell that he was no match for the Titan, that there's no way he could fight that monster and win. In shame, he sheathed his swords back and quickly went back. He picked up Mikasa and put her on his shoulders, then grabbed the twins and held each one of them in an arm, and began to run away.
"Hannes, stop!" Licht angrily shouted.
"Hey, Hannes! What are you doing?!" Eren angrily added.
"Thank you." Carla muttered as she watched Hannes carrying the kids away.
"Let me go, Hannes!" Licht yelled.
"Mom is still trapped, stop!" Eren yelled too.
"Eren, Licht! You two need to live on! I'll love you forever, and I'll miss you two!" She shouted for one last time, as she saw her two sons getting farther and farther away. But then she started to cry and sob. How couldn't she? She wasn't going to see her kids ever again. She wasn't going to see them grow up. It was the final goodbye. She was going to die.
Licht kept struggling and struggling to break out of Hannes' hold, but it was pointless. Even if Hannes was a slacker, he was still one of the few selected soldiers, chosen and trained to protect the walls, meaning that he wasn't all that weak. However, just then, Licht's super hearing kicked in as he picked up on something.
"Don't go." Licht heard the words coming out of his mother's mouth.
*Music: AOT OST -The Reluctant Heroes*
At that very moment, something awakened within Licht. Something that has been dormant for a very long time. Something that has been built up and has been waiting for its release. An unknown source of power that was currently surging through his veins.
Licht looked towards his helpless mother, who the Titan was slowly reaching down for her, planning to eat her. The look of fear and despair in his eyes, was replaced by a look of an undying determination and anger. He then broke out of Hannes's hold with ease, and with a mighty battle cry, a surge of energy erupted from him, pushing Hannes back a bit. When Hannes opened his eyes again, Licht was already sprinting towards the Titan.
Impossible! He was just standing here a second ago! The old man thought, clearly shocked by how fast Licht moved.
Both Eren and Mikasa gasped as they witnessed Licht run straight ahead towards the Titan.
"STOP!" Licht shouted as he dashed towards the Titan.
"Licht?!" Carla said in shock as she couldn't believe how fast her son was running. And that look in his eyes, it seemed different.
I won't let you die Mom! I won't let you! Licht thought to himself as he kept running at full speed towards the Titan. He continued to feel the unfamiliar power flowing through him, yet somehow it felt natural.
"TAKE THAT, YOU MONSTER!" Licht shouted as he jumped high in the air and landed a strong right fist to the Titan's guts, pushing it back a couple of meters away.
Hannes and the kids couldn't quite see what's happening due to how far they were, but Carla, she could see it all. It was incredible! Her son managed to push back a Titan with a single punch!
She thought that her eyes were playing tricks on her, that being on death door was making her go crazy or something, but everything seemed so realistic.
"Licht, why are you here?! Why didn't you run away with your brother?!" She asked. Licht was about to respond, but he starting moving again towards the Titan at high speeds.
The Titan tried to fight back and crush Licht with its fist. The impact of the punch made a loud thud, and filled the area with smoke, making Hannes and the kids who were trying to go back shield their eyes and cough.
The dust slightly cleared, revealing Licht standing on the Titan's hand. The boy started to climb the Titan's arm by running on it at top speed. He then jumped again and landed a perfect uppercut with even more force, causing the Titan to stumble and fall on its back with a loud thud. The fall was able to generate shockwaves that knocked back Hannes and the kids.
"Licht!" Eren cried out, thinking that it's the Titan who just jumped on his brother and killed him.
Seeing this as his chance, Licht then ran to his mother, willing to get her out of there and save her. Free from the tension of the fight, he began asking himself. How did he do that? How did he just defeat a Titan? What's this power surging in his body?
But unfortunately for him, his thoughts were cut short as the Titan's foot came crashing down on him, crushing him.
"LICHT!" Carla shouted, thinking that her son just got crushed by the Titan.
The Titan then began to remove its foot, and Carla was thinking that the monster was going for her now, but to her surprise, it was Licht's who was lifting the Titan's foot with his bare hands, defying all odds.
"Licht, you're okay!" Carla was relieved to see that her son was still alive, yet still surprised how he was able to do so.
Licht appeared to be struggling against the Titan's giant foot, which was normal considering how much a Titan weighted. He tried to fully stand up and lift the Titan, but the task proved to be so difficult as the Titan added more pressure with its foot, forcing Licht to go down on one knee.
The Saiyan boy gritted his teeth in frustration, as he couldn't hold out much longer. Was he going to lose now?
No, the possibility of losing to the Titan wasn't an option for Licht. If that monster wins, he'll eat his Mom and in the worst-case scenario, his brother and friends too. He can't have that at all. He has to push himself beyond his limits.
"AAAHHH!" With a mighty battle cry, Licht gave everything he's got and with a one strong push, the Titan stumbled and fell backwards with another loud thud. The Saiyan boy started to take heavy breaths. He was exhausted and his strength was almost depleted.
Licht then turned towards his mother, the only one who was able to watch and see this epic battle. His eyes were teary, but he had a big smile on his face. "Mom, I couldn't run away and watch you die, knowing you needed my help!"
Carla gasped and put a hand on her mouth as tears fell from her eyes. Here was her son, no, her adoptive son doing everything he can and more to save her, his adoptive mother, who in reality is a total stranger to him, him being an alien and her a human. She felt truly blessed to know that she has a son like Licht, and just then, she started to remember Grisha's words.
Ten Years Ago:
"So, tell me Dear. Where did you find that kid and why did you decide to take care of him, instead of sending him to an orphanage?" Carla asked as both Baby Eren and Baby Licht were sleeping soundly.
"I know that what I'm going to say may sound crazy, but Licht came from the skies. He's an alien and he came in an alien ship." Grisha explained.
At first, Carla gave him a questioning look, not buying his story but Grisha still looked serious. "Wait? Are you really saying that this kid is an alien? He looks like a human to me."
"I know, but before we came here, he had a tail. A monkey tail to be precise." Grisha said before he opened his bag and grabbed the ripped off tail. "And if you still don't believe me, I have some kind of message from his parents that uses weird alien technology and there's also the wound on his back he has now after I cut off his tail." Grisha further explained.
"You can't be serious. A real alien!" Carla exclaimed in shock. "But why did you cut off his tail? He's a poor baby." She said not understanding the reason behind this.
"His parents asked me to do it, and it'll be easier for him to blend with humans that way." He replied.
"I-I see, but that's still a lot to take in. Grisha we never raised a human boy, let alone an alien boy." She said, not sure if they'll be up to the task.
"Don't worry about that. Look at him, he looks just like any other human baby. Besides, that boy is definitely special, very special." He said as he gently rubbed Licht's hair.
"And adorable. Who would've thought that I would get another cute boy like him?"
Hearing his wife, Grisha chuckled, "I might get jealous now." He joked, causing his wife to chuckle and laugh.
"Well, if Licht really makes you of all people jealous, then he's definitely something else." Carla mused.
"What do you mean by that?" Grisha asked.
"Nothing." His wife grinned at him.
I see now. From the very moment you were born, you were really special, Licht. I know that it's too late to realize it now, but just like Grisha said, you're indeed a gift from the skies. You're the one who will save humanity from the Titans. Because you are kind, and have the heart of a… Hero. Carla thought as she watched her son run towards her. Licht outstretched his hand, trying to reach her.
However, just then, a yellow energy beam came out of the Titan's mouth, swallowing everything in its path, including Licht and Carla. The energy beam hit them just before the tips of their fingers could touch.
Seeing the huge explosion, Hannes immediately picked the two kids and ran away. He failed to save both Carla and Licht, but he was at least going to save Eren and Mikasa. If he cannot at least do that, then he won't be able to live with himself.
"Mom! Licht! NOO!" Eren cried out as he was forced to watch the deaths of his twin brother and mother. In his mind, Eren had but only one thought. He would one day come back and avenge his brother and mother by killing every single Titan.
Once his house was no longer visible, Eren snapped back to reality. The reality where his mother and brother died by the hands of the Titans. In anger, he hit Hannes on the back of his head.
"We could've saved them! Licht and Mom! We could've saved them! Why the hell would you do that?! We could've saved Licht and Mom!" He shouted in anger as he elbowed Hannes in the back of his head.
"Cut it out." Hannes flipped Eren over his shoulder.
"Eren!" Mikasa ran to his side.
"Eren." Hannes slowly walked towards the angry boy, "You couldn't help your mother or brother because you're weak." He explained, making the boy angrier, to the point where he tried to punch him but the older man easily blocked his fist.
"I… I couldn't face the Titan because I was scared!" Hannes yelled in regret and shame as tears poured down his cheeks, matching Eren. "Licht was much braver than me. He died trying to do what I had to do. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Hannes added before he took the kids' hands and walked them to the evacuation center.
After seeing the initial explosion, Takashi immediately ran back to Shiganshina. The first thing that came to his mind was his uncle, Maria and Mikasa. Was his family okay? He needed to check on them.
And here he was, standing above his uncle's and cousin's corpses. Apparently, a chunk of the wall fell on their house and crushed it, instantly killing them.
"I see… I lost more people…" He muttered to himself as he clenched his fists in a mic of sadness and anger. Father, I know I promised to inherit your dream, but you never told me how hard it was going to be. He thought as tears fell from his eyes. His thoughts were, however, interrupted once he noticed the yellow energy beam nearby. He felt a pit grow in his stomach as he realized from where it came from. Licht's house!
Takashi wiped his tears and ran towards his friend's house. He couldn't save either his uncle or cousin, but he hoped he could at least save his friends. He also had to make sure that Mikasa was okay.
When Licht finally opened his eyes, his head felt all fuzzy. How long has he been out for? What was the last thing that happened before he went out? The boy was hit by a sudden headache as memories started to come back to his mind. He clutched his head in pain until he remembered his mother! Was she okay?
With a bit of struggle, Licht was finally able to stand up again. He scanned the area around him and soon enough found a body, completely covered in blood and burns. Licht was having trouble walking. His legs were too weak to support him. In fact, he was only able to move out of sheer determination. When he finally reached the body, he started to inspect it. He immediately recognized the body as his mother's, Carla.
"Mom, are you okay?" He shook her gently, but was met with silence. "Mom, can you answer me?"
Once again, silence…
"I-I see, y-you're just sleeping. Th-That must be it." He shakily said. "Don't worry then, Mom. I'll carry you to safety. Yeah. I'm sure someone will be able to help you in the evacuation center." With whatever strength he had left, Licht carried his Mom on his back, and slowly began to walk towards the evacuation center. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll sure get you there." Licht added as he continued walking.
"Licht?"
The boy looked around and found his friend, Takashi, standing there in bewilderment.
"Licht, what happened? You're severely injured. Your whole body is covered in blood. You need help immediately!"
"A Titan attacked us. Mom and I managed to survive though. Don't worry about me, I'm feeling fine. I just have to carry Mom to the evacuation center first." Licht replied, causing Takashi to gasp in shock. Licht was carrying his mother. He almost couldn't recognize her from how bad she looked right now. When he took a closer look, Takashi's eyes widened.
"Licht… Your Mom… she's dead."
At that, Licht just laughed, "Takashi, what are you saying? Mom is fine. She's just sleeping, that's all."
"Licht, she's not breathing…"
The young Saiyan gulped, "Stop joking around, Takashi. The joke isn't funny anymore."
"Licht." Takashi put a hand on his friend's shoulder, "You need to leave her, and get to safety. You need treatment."
Licht smacked his friend's hand away. "I told you to stop joking around! Mom isn't dead! You hear me! She's not!" Licht said with tears in his eyes.
"She's dead, Licht! Look at her! She's not breathing! Her heart stopped!"
At that, Takashi got punched by Licht who was currently panting. The Saiyan boy fell one knee, he was exhausted.
Takashi stood back on his feet and grabbed Licht's arm. "I'm bringing you back with me, even if I have to use force against you."
"Don't touch me!" Licht shouted before the two boys felt the ground shaking. They felt something approaching rapidly. The two boys froze in their place, not daring to move until they saw it…
…A small 5 meters Titan with long black hair, thick black beard at its chin, sunken eyes, and visible sharp teeth with no visible lips. It was none other than the Jaw Titan.
"Licht. Leave the body and let's run." Takashi silently whispered with a hint of fear.
"Take Mom, and run to the evacuation center. I'll hold it him off!" Licht said in determination as he gently put his mother down. Although, there was nothing he could really do now.
Before Takashi could say anything, the Jaw Titan swoop his hand aiming at the two boys. Takashi could only stare at the incoming attack, not having the necessary speed to move out of the way. But just before the attack could hit him, Licht pushed Takashi out of the way and took the full brunt of the attack. The attack sent him flying away till he crashed into one of the destroyed houses.
"Licht!" Takashi cried out in tears. Did his friend die? Was this really the end? Those were his thoughts as the Jaw Titan looked down on him. The Titan then outstretched his hand, ignoring Takashi much to his surprise and grabbed Carla's corpse. Seeing this, Takashi ran and caught Carla's corpse by her feet. "What do you want more you monster?! She's already dead! Can't you at least let her die in peace!" The boy shouted. However, Takashi's strength was no match for the Titan and was forced to let go.
Suddenly, another pair of hands grabbed Carla's corpse. It was none other than Licht. He looked terrible but he was at least alive, barely, but still alive.
"I… won't let you… take my… Mom." Licht muttered before he let go and fell on his back, unconscious. Exhaustion has finally taken over his body. He had zero strength left.
The Jaw Titan jumped on a house. He turned his head back and looked at the two boys, specifically the unconscious Licht. He stared at the young Saiyan for a moment before he jumped away.
Takashi was shocked and had a lot of questions. Why didn't the Titan kill them? Why did the Titan only take Carla's corpse? How did Licht survive that last attack? He didn't know. All he knew is that his friend was still breathing, and that he had to carry him to safety…
When Takashi finally arrived at the evacuation center with Licht on his back. It was already too late. The ships were already leaving, and they were stuck at the back of the crowd. There was no way they were going to escape now.
"-Let us on!"
"-Let us get on!"
"-Please at least take my child!"
Many people yelled, desperate to get on board.
"No. There has to be a way. I can't have Licht dying on me. Think, Takashi, think." He said to himself as he scanned the area around him. He gritted his teeth as he saw the last ship leaving. They'll soon get trapped here if he doesn't do anything.
"-Get him here." A soldier said with authority, grabbing Takashi's attention.
"-Yes, Sir!" Two other soldiers replied. They seemed to be carrying something.
Takashi looked closer and realized that two soldiers were carrying the body of that soldier who was friends with Hannes, the one he met this morning. The two soldiers gently put him down and waited for their next orders.
"Another casualty, huh? You two go and find more soldiers. I need to know how many soldiers and functional ODM gears we have left!"
"Yes, Sir!" The two soldiers said before they walked away.
Takashi smiled as he got a brilliant idea on how to escape from here. He was going to steal that ODM gear to get on the ship. His father gave him a few handy tips on how to use an ODM gear when he was younger, and now was the time to put his father's words to the test. There was also no room for failure, so even if it was going to be his first time using an ODM gear, he had to succeed.
Takashi waited until there was no soldier near the dead corpse. He strapped Licht to his back with a rope he found earlier, and stole the ODM gear. He only had little time to catch up to the boat now.
"The simplest move possible with the ODM gear is simply aiming and firing the grapple hooks at an object and then activating the gas mechanism to reel oneself toward the said object. That's the basics. You can then disconnect the hook and continue moving forward. But remember, soldiers must be able to move around in order to navigate in general. Therefore, they tend to use their momentum in order to swing around targets, not only in rectilinear patterns, but also slaloming between objects and Titans. Also, the gas mechanism is so powerful that it can stop a person from falling without using the hooks, so you can also count on that."
Takashi remembered his father's words, "Alright, let's do this." He said in determination before he aimed and fired the grapple hooks at a building and reeled himself forward, displaying some exceptional skills using the ODM gear.
The soldiers were all alerted by the sound of the ODM gear, and their surprise grew even more once they saw a kid using it. It didn't take them long to figure out that Takashi was trying to use the ODM gear to get to the boat.
"-Hey, someone stop that kid! We need to get that ODM gear back!" A soldier shouted.
"-Look! They're closing the door!" Another soldier yelled.
"I see. They're closing the doors to keep the rest of the people trapped here. Then the only thing we could do now, is go over the wall." Takashi said as he changed his trajectory.
Unfortunately for the dark gray-haired boy, things weren't going to be that easy, as something big was rapidly approaching. Everyone was able to hear the incoming footsteps. They all looked in fear as they saw another Titan. One that was covered in layer of plated, armor-like segments of hardened skin, protecting his body. It was the Armored Titan.
The soldiers tried to stop him with their cannons, but it was pointless. None of their attacks managed to faze him.
When Takashi saw the Armored Titan heading towards the wall, he knew he had to quickly go over the wall. And so, he used the ODM gear again, and maneuvered his way to the wall. He aimed and fired the grapple hooks at the wall, and reeled himself. He and Licht started to go up, but the Armored Titan was fast approaching.
"Come on, we're almost there." Takashi said as he could tell that the Armored Titan was a few meters away from destroying the wall. He disconnected the hook and with a front flip, he crossed over the wall. Now he had to quickly get away in order to evade the chunks of debris that will try to hit him once the Armored Titan destroys the-
With a loud BOOM the wall got destroyed, Takashi kept dodging the incoming debris. However, they were losing momentum. He had to find another object to fire the hook at. Takashi then looked down and noticed the Armored Titan running forward. He had a reckless plan, but it was now or never. He fired the hook at the Armored Titan's lower back and dashed downwards at great speed. After that, he used the grapple to swing himself and Licht and pass between the Armored Titan's legs. This was also a smart move because the Titan's back shielded them from the debris.
"Yes, we did it!" Takashi excitedly shouted as he disconnected the hook and fired it at the nearest building. The boy maneuvered his way till he made it to the boat. He landed right on top of it with everyone looking at him in shock, including Eren, Mikasa and Armin.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as much as I've enjoyed writing it. Sorry you had to wait that long before an update. I had my hands full with my final exams, then I had to work first on my other fan fiction. It was a lot. On the bright side, I'll probably won't make you wait that long for another chapter. If it wasn't clear during the last chapter, I'll come out and say, Ki exists here. And Marcel is here too. He didn't die. Those are the first two changes I'm doing aside from Licht of course.
Power Levels (Cause it's dragon ball lol):

TheChamp123: Glad you're enjoying the story thus far. Of course there's going to be the Great Ape Transformation. Who would want to miss a fight between a Great Ape and a Titan? It's not a multi-pairing cause I usually don't like Harems. I only did that in my other fanfic because it was kinda my friend's wish as well as the fans. So, the pairing is Licht x Historia. Thank you for your support.
.4545: Yup, and there's even more to come bro. We're only just starting.
Funny-Little-Cute White Fox: Thanks for your support, and I'm sorry for the delay. I hope you've enjoyed this chapter though.
Nyll-Winter: Indeed.
