Coco: Hello, everyone, and welcome to Ayonic Side Shots! The series of one-shots based from the story and characters of the Psionic Hero: Ayonic. If you haven't read Ayonic, you'll probably be confused as to who my OCs are and the storyline around them. Not saying you have to stop reading. I just thought I'd give you a heads up.
As for returning readers, I hope you enjoy this first addition to this side shot series, which is focused on Kirishima and Konan. I actually wrote this a while back when a reader mentioned wanting a chapter bonus of these two interacting, but it became pretty long, so I didn't end up using it.
It doesn't have any real connection to the storyline, but I'd say this scenario would have taken place before or right after being put in the dorms together. It's definitely before the Do or Die training OVA, which might not make sense, but I don't want to give away too much a spoil anything for those who haven't read Ayonic yet.
Anyway, enough blabbering, let's get started~
Konan frowned staring at the water before her. Her classmates were all splashing around and having a good time as they enjoyed the beach day that Momo's family had put together for them by renting out an entire stretch of beach. It was Momo's parents' way of trying to help the teens relax considering their hectic lives. While Konan was grateful for their thoughtfulness, she wasn't exactly having a good time. She wasn't fond of beaches. It wasn't the sand or the warm weather or even the people that bothered her. It was…the water.
Since she was a little girl, she has been afraid of deep bodies of water. Mostly because when on a trip with her parents on a cruise, Konan nearly drowned when she fell overboard. Her paper body had gotten heavy due to soaking up so much sea water, so no matter how much she had tried to swim to the surface, she had just kept sinking. Ever since then, she never goes into any water where her feet are unable to touch some kind of bottom.
She's never really told anyone about this fear of hers as it would make her appear weak. And as a Kurafutoshi, she could never allow herself to look weak. She was sure her father would rather her drown trying to swim than admit to someone she just couldn't swim. Or that she's afraid of the water. Konan let out another sigh before letting out a yelp when she was suddenly wrapped up in tape and being pulled off the ground.
"You can't stay on the beach the entire time we're here, Ko-Toshi!" Denki called as Hanta pulled her towards the water.
"Yeah, join us!" Toru called as she jumped up and down.
Konan felt panic start to rise in her chest with a sharp spike as Hanta gave a strong tug that sent her flying up and over the water. She wanted to beg them to stop, but her pride—or rather trying to keep the family's image in tack—or maybe it was just the fear itself that made her quiet and froze in place to save herself for what was about to happen.
"Here she comes!" Hanta called as he released her from his hold.
She came crashing down towards the water and as she splashed and fell underneath the waves, she felt the panic really set it. She already felt her body become heavier as the ocean water seeped in. She tried to move her arms to pull herself up, but like when she was a child, she just kept sinking. But this time, she wasn't under the cold, dark water long as two strong arms grabbed her and hoisted her up. As soon as she was above water, she immediately clung to her savior while hacking up the water she had unintentionally swallowed when she went under.
"Hey, hey, you're okay," Eijiro's familiar voice entered her ears. "I've got you."
Konan who finally calmed her breathing looked up at Eijiro whose neck she had wrapped up in her arms. The boy was holding her bridal style and mostly out of the water, which had her panicked heart slow down to a more normal rate. Mashirao hurried over to where she and Eijiro were as many of their classmates looked over in concern.
"Ko-Toshi, are you okay?!" Toru called.
"We're so sorry!" Denki added.
"Yeah, we didn't think you'd sink like that." Hanta finished.
All looked truly apologetic and Konan tried to smile at them reassuringly though she felt like it came out more like a grimace.
"Let's just give her some space for now, guys," Eijiro said as he turned back towards the beach.
The three all nodded though still looking super remorseful as Eijiro took Konan back to the beach with Mashirao right behind him. Eijiro set Konan back down on the nice, safe dry sand with him and Mashirao crouching next to her.
"Are you okay?" Mashirao asked.
Konan nodded silently as she tried to wring some of the water out of her hair.
"I'll go get you a towel." Mashirao said.
He rushed off to do just that, which left Eijiro to keep the blonde-haired girl company.
"Not a fan of the water, huh?" Eijiro guessed after a moment of silence.
"I just prefer to have my feet on solid ground." Konan said with a small shrug.
She was a bit embarrassed to say the least, but there was nothing she could do about it now.
"Because you can't swim, right?" Eijiro said.
Konan's eyes widened as she looked to Eijiro who sat down next to her with his legs crisscrossed. She was surprised he was able to figure that out. Though she does suppose she just made it obvious.
"No," Konan said. "It's hard to swim when your body just becomes heavier when in water. That and I just panic—though I'm usually better at hiding it—when my feet can't touch the ground"
She wiggled her toes as she said this after she brought her knees to her chest. She honestly just wanted to make herself as small as possible. Maybe she'd disappear and be free of this embarrassment.
"I know, it's pathetic." Konan continued. "I want to become a pro hero and I can't even handle water."
"No, it isn't," Eijiro said with a shake of his head. "All of us have our own strengths and weaknesses, Ko-Toshi. Don't beat yourself up over the fact you're unable to swim. I mean, your quirk does kind of make it hard on you."
Konan nodded her head thought still felt kind of down. Her quirk had quite a few downsides with water being one of the major ones. She's basically useless when it comes to anything water related like swimming or being in the rain.
"But if it bothers you that much, maybe we can figure something out!" Eijiro said getting Konan to look at him in surprise. "Maybe the support course can help with keeping the water from soaking into your body, and as for you not being able to swim, I'll teach you."
He pointed at himself as he said this as a wide smile pulling across his face. At the sight of it, Konan felt her own lips tilt up and her chest warm. She then moved forward and before Eijiro realized what she was doing, she hugged him. His eyes widened in utter shock before he felt his entire face heat up.
"Thank you, Kirishima." Konan said. "For not only being such a great friend, but for saving me as well. You're my hero."
She pulled back after she said this and stood up as Mashirao called out to her. He was bringing a towel over to her and she walked over to meet him halfway. As Mashirao helped wrap it around her, Eijiro, who was left behind, watched her with his eyes the size of saucers. Something he didn't know was that someone else was watching too.
'Cute…' Ayano thought as she saw how flustered Eijiro was.
"What the hell are you staring at, Aya?" Katsuki asked as he caught the beachball that Mina had sent sailing over.
He threw it back as he followed Ayano's sights over to the blushing Eijiro who was staring after Konan. Katsuki snorted at the sight.
'Dumbass,' Katsuki scoffed mentally.
Coco: Aw~ Wasn't that just so cute? Anyway, I just want to remind you guys that if you have any requests or ideas for the next one shot or any after that, please feel free to leave them in a review or message me.
The requests can be about any of my OCs, which includes the ones we don't see much like Doctorine, Royale, or Ko. In fact, I have LOV one shot kind of in mind. Just some fun with our favorite villains. But, yeah, don't feel afraid to give requests. I consider them a bit of a challenge and they help me come up with things I might never have thought of before, which helps with my writing. That and I love hearing from you guys.
Well, until next time!
