13: say goodnight and go.
Lucy slowly opened her eyes. After they adjusted in the light, the first thing she noticed was Natsu staring dead at her.
"Oh my fuckin-" She flinched.
"Bro! You're alive!" Natsu cried.
"Yeah...I am..." Lucy responded, sitting up in the hospital bed.
"Nonononono," Natsu said, grabbing her by the shoulders and slowly pushing her down. "Rest. You need to rest."
"But I'm fine now. I got work in the morning...what time is it? Or should I ask what day is it?" Lucy asked, trying to resist Natsu's efforts to push her down.
"It doesn't matter," Natsu answered, refusing to lose the battle.
Lucy gave up and allowed Natsu to push her down. He adjusted her pillow so she could feel more comfortable.
"Okay...can I get up now? There's nothing for me to do in this bed except sleep," Lucy asked.
"You wanna watch something on TV?" Natsu asked.
"No," Lucy answered.
"Okay! We're watching something!" Natsu cried.
Lucy frowned and sat up. However, when she tried to sit up, she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. She groaned as she clutched her side.
"Shit! Doctor!" Natsu yelled, running towards the door.
Lucy tried to yell at Natsu to come back but she felt too weak to yell.
Minutes later, the doctor was examining Lucy. "There's nothing wrong. She just can't make any sudden movements," the doctor said before leaving.
Natsu crossed his arms and stared at Lucy who was still laying in bed.
"What?" She asked.
"You're not allowed to move so if you need anything, I'll do it," Natsu answered.
"Fine," Lucy said, attempting to turn on her side. The sharp pain returned and she quickly went back to the position she was in. "Turn on the TV."
Natsu grabbed the remote and stared at it. He's been in the modern world for a while now but he hasn't exactly operated a TV yet. He stared at the remote for a while. Lucy watched him with amusement in her eyes.
"You need help?" She asked.
"No. I'm helping you. You don't help me," Natsu answered.
"Okay. Have fun figuring it out," Lucy answered.
Natsu was so serious as he tried to figure out the science of a remote. I can do this. No worries. This is like a phone but not. All I gotta do is press a button and the TV is on. Okay. I can do this.
He pointed the remote at the TV. Okay...good start. Now what?
His thumb hovered over the buttons as he tried to choose which one to press. He eventually settled on the select button.
Nothing happened.
He tried all 4 of the arrow buttons. They didn't work either. He pressed all of the button until he landed on the power button. The flat screen TV on the wall across from Lucy had finally switched on.
"Yes! Finally!" Natsu cried in celebration.
Lucy clapped. "Congratulations!" She noticed the IV hooked up into her arm. It didn't sit well with her but she ignored it.
On the TV, a music video was currently playing. Natsu, distracted by the TV, looked up to watch it. Lucy used the time he was looking away to slowly and carefully sit up in bed.
"No way!" Natsu then yelled, startling Lucy.
"What!?" She cried, clutching her side and hissing in pain.
Natsu pointed at the girl singing in the music video. Lucy recognized the girl he was pointing to. "Oh, that's Wendy Marvell. She used to live in Fairy Hills back when she was a trainee at Lamia Scale but she debuted with another girl name Sherria Blendy. Now, they make up the girl group The Sky Sisters and they're really popular. She's actually on tour right now."
Natsu stared at the screen in disbelief. "Damn! They're not lying when they say they grow up so fast!"
"What do you mean? You know Wendy? But how?" Lucy asked.
"She's the goddess of the sky," Natsu answered without looking away from the TV.
Lucy blinked. "Really!? I had no idea!" Then she thought about it. Wendy would often mention how the air tasted like. Does that mean she eats the sky?
"How were you, Gajeel, Sting, Wendy, and Rogue like in the heavenly realm?" She asked.
Natsu faced her. "Gajeel and I never really liked each other. Every day, we'd challenge each other to a fight. But the both of us did stupid shit so we were always bailing each other out or doing the stupid shit together. As for Sting and Rogue, I wasn't lying when I told you they practically worshiped me. Especially Sting. Rogue was closer to Gajeel but he still had a lot of respect for me. I practically taught Sting all he knows about fighting, yet that kid decided to treat me like shit! Then Wendy was a little sister to all of us. She never really liked fighting so she was more focused on enchantments and healing. She learned all of her healing stuff from Acnologia, the god of medicine or whatever, and whenever one of us got hurt, she'd heal us. She had a temper and she could literally blow you away with her wind magic."
"How come I've never seen your names in the textbooks? Back in school when we were learning about mythology, we were told other names. Like, the god of fire is Igneel, the god of the earth is Metalicana, things like that," Lucy asked.
"It's complicated. I guess you can say I'm Igneel...but not?" Natsu thought of a way to explain things to her. "Okay. Have the textbooks mention anything about the Dragon King Festival?"
Lucy nodded. "What did the textbooks say?" He asked.
"The dragon gods killed the origin gods so they can take over the heavenly realm. After the battle, the top dragon gods, known as the dragon kings, made law and order and our land was created or something. And back when they did kings and queens, they'd say that the dragon gods would choose whoever to rule," Lucy answered.
"They kinda fucked up the story," Natsu said.
Lucy blinked. "For real?"
Natsu explained things. "Yes, there were the origin gods and yes, there were dragons. This lady Irene Belserion's also important to this story. Anyway. The dragons wanted all humans dead so the dragons would come in and kill humans back in the day. Some dragons didn't agree with that though. Oh yeah, Zeref was actually close to Igneel once you think about it. Anyway, Zeref and Igneel made a plan to put dragon souls in humans in order to create gods who understand humans. Also, so e could kill Acnologia since he was the dragon that caused the most trouble. He was actually king of the dragons back then. They needed a priestess and so Zeref chose Irene who he made a guardian later on. Irene did this ritual that put Igneel's soul in me. She also did that with Gajeel, Wendy, Sting, and Rogue with their dragons. But then some other dragons didn't like that. They learned how to transform into humans and they tried to kill me and the other. So, a huge competition to find out who would come out on top happened. It ended up in a big draw for everyone. That's the Dragon King Festival."
"Whoa," Lucy commented. Since she knew next to nothing about Natsu and everyone else, she was using her skills as a journalist to get him to answer her questions. At the same time, she was finding the stories entertaining.
"So in conclusion, humans don't know what really happened which is why they still think I'm Igneel," Natsu concluded.
"Okay. I remember one time you were saying that the story they told us on Tenrou Island about Mavis isn't true," Lucy said
"Mavis was from Tenrou Island. Acnologia destroyed her whole entire village so she left the island with some humans who had visited the island. She met my brother and back then, he wasn't so serious. She was learning magic when they met and he taught her all sorts of spells from the heavenly realm. But one of the spells he taught her was not meant for humans. Not to mention she had all of this knowledge about life or death that a human should not have. She performed all these miracles and people were starting to see her as some sort or prophet, which is a bad thing. So Zeref anchored her soul to Tenrou Island and now she must write the fates of all humans. Mavis was understandably mad at Zeref for basically fucking up her life for centuries but I guess those two decided to up and make up or whatever just to get back at me," Natsu explained.
"I've been wondering this for a while. How are you and Zeref brothers?" Lucy asked.
"Basically, we were both humans but I was killed by a dragon along with our parents back when Zeref was at a monastery to become a monk. Igneel felt bad so he took Zeref to the Underworld. The old god of death and the father of the gods Ankhsarem made a deal with him: I can come back to life and in return, Zeref will become the god of death but there were strings attached. Zeref will gain knowledge of life and death and a lot of magical power but will be forced to cut all of his remaining attachments to the living world. That was when he met Mavis. He did what he did to her so he could cut off attachments to the living world and it worked. He brought me back to life but now he's chained to the Underworld throne," Natsu answered.
Kinda like our situation, Lucy thought. "What trouble did you cause in the heavenly realm that caused you to come down to the human realm?"
Natsu eyed her suspiciously. "Wait. Am I getting...interviewed?"
"Ah. You've caught on," Lucy responded as she tried to sit up.
Panicking, Natsu pushed her down. "Yo! Stop that! If you need something, I'll get it!"
"Dang, fine I'll stay down," Lucy responded. Natsu adjusted the blanket so it was completely covering her.
"What time is it?" She asked him.
He checked his phone. "10:41pm."
"That late? Wow," Lucy said.
Natsu covered her eyes. "You should go to sleep."
"Covering my eyes won't make me sleep," Lucy said.
"But you should sleep anyway," Natsu answered.
Lucy pushed his hand off her face. "I've been sleeping all day. I don't feel sleepy at all right now."
"True, true," Natsu answered, finally sitting back down in the chair that was next to her bed.
"What should we do? I can't move without my side hurting me," Lucy asked before thinking about something. "Hey. I need you to buy this one book for me."
"But what if you need something else and I'm not there?" Natsu asked.
"I want this book," Lucy protested.
"Okay, what's it called and where is it?" Natsu asked.
"Lemme try to remember the name..." Lucy worked on remembering the name. Eventually, it came to her. "Princess Flowers. It's at any bookstore you go to."
"Deal!" Natsu cried, standing up.
"Wait. Don't you need money?" Lucy asked as he walked over to the door.
"Oh yeah. Where's your money?" Natsu asked.
Lucy attempted to point to her purse that was laying to the couch but couldn't really point well since she was laying down. Natsu saw the purse and grabbed the wallet out of it.
"I'll be back!" He cried as he ran out the room.
Now with Natsu out of the room, Lucy could finally sit up and do things without him panicking and doing them for her.
Clutching onto her side, she slowly sat up. Still, it was painful so she laid back down. She tried to reach for the remote but it was too far. She couldn't even reach for the water bottle that was on the table without having to sit up. She looked up at the ceiling in defeat. I shouldn't have sent him away.
Suddenly, the door slid open.
"Natsu!" Lucy cried, sitting up before groaning in pain and laying back down.
"Does it look like I'm Natsu?" Cana asked, entering the room.
"Hi, Lucy!" Mirajane cried, entering next.
"You're awake!" Lisanna cried, entering after Mirajane
"We heard what happened! Sorry I couldn't come sooner! I had work at the bookstore!" Levy cried, entering the room after the first 3 girls.
"It's good to see you still have your energy!" Erza cried, entering after Levy.
"We thought you died!" Juvia cried, entering last.
The girls surrounded Lucy who was still laying in bed.
"I'm fine now. For real. My side just hurts whenever I move," Lucy answered.
"Don't worry. We're working on catching the shooter. We will being him or her to justice!" Erza cried.
"Do you remember what the shooter looked like?" Mirajane asked.
"I don't really remember seeing any shooter. I was more focused on saving this one kid. I didn't even realize I was shot until it was too late," Lucy confessed.
"Jellal says that there was another large trace of magic too..." Erza said.
"Really?" Lucy asked.
"We can talk about all this stuff later! Lucy's not dead so we should celebrate!" Levy cried.
"Yeah!" Cana cried, pulling out bottles of tequila and shot glasses from her purse.
"How did she manage to smuggle all that in...?" Lucy asked.
"What I want to know is how she was able to fit all that in..." Juvia responded.
"Hey, look! Wendy's on TV!" Lisanna cried, pointing at the TV.
Mirajane smile. "They grow up so fast!"
"Did you know that Wendy's also a dragon god?" Lucy asked.
"Whoa, for real?" Levy cried as Cana handed everyone a shot glass.
"Yeah, I'm shocked too," Lucy answered before handing Cana back the shot glass she was given.
"What? No, you can't refuse! We're celebrating your survival!" Cana cried.
"If I sit up, my side hurts. Besides. I'm a patient. I don't think I'm supposed to drink," Lucy said.
Cana took the shot glass. "Then inhale the aroma of the drink," she said as she poured the drink into the glass and handed it to Lucy.
"Um...thanks?" Lucy asked, being careful not to accidentally spill the drink.
Soon, all of the girls had tequila in their shot glasses. "Cheers!" They cried, clinking their glasses together. They took a second to chug down the drink.
"Damn...! That really hits the spot!" Cana cried as she proceeded to pour herself another glass.
Lucy looked at her empty shot glass. Then she realized she had accidentally finished the drink. "Shit."
"So Juvia. Have you told Gray how you feel?" Levy asked.
Juvia bashfully looking down and put her hands on her cheeks. "I'm too shy!"
"Girl, you've been stalking him for years! Just ask him out already!" Erza cried before asking Cana to pour her another drink. She's had just pulled off an all-nighter and may need to do it again. A drink was definitely needed.
"But what if my beloved says no!?" Juvia asked.
"What if he says yes?" Mirajane asked.
Juvia let the words sink in. Then, she squealed as she hit Lisanna's shoulder a few times. "That's right! There's a 50% chance of him saying yes! That's more than 49%!"
"I love how cheerful you are but you can stop hitting me now..." Lisanna said, proceeding to move away from Juvia.
Juvia grabbed Lisanna by the shoulders and started shaking her. "We'd start dating then we get married, and I have all 20 of his kids! Ahh!"
Levy sat down in the chair Natsu was originally sitting in. "You okay?" She asked, taking Lucy's shot glass out of her hands and putting it on the table.
"Yeah, I am. I just can't do much right now," Lucy answered.
"That must suck," Levy answered before looking around the room. "Where's Natsu?"
"I sent him to get that book you recommended to me," Lucy answered.
"Princess Flowers, right?" Levy asked. Lucy nodded.
"Shit! Lucy, why did you tell him to go get it!?" Levy cried.
"Cuz I want to read it. You and Erza hyped it up so much," Lucy answered.
Levy awkwardly laughed. "Yeah...that book's erotica."
Lucy blinked. "Erotica...erotica..." Her face turned red. "Ahhhh! I shouldn't have sent him to go get it!"
"What's the problem with sending him out to get an erotica? At least you're not the one buying it. Besides, it's just a book," Mirajane asked, joining the conversation.
"It's one of those things that you get secretly! Like, I usually dress up in black leggings, black boots, black hoodie, black face mask, and clout goggles whenever I buy those things!" Levy cried.
"Yeah, so imagine Natsu buying that book!" Lucy cried.
"Bruh, that book is straight up porn!" Levy cried.
"Then why did you recommend that book to me in the first place!?" Lucy cried.
Erza, who was listening in the background, gave her a thumbs up. "Because it's a work of art."
Lucy dug her fingers into her hair. "I wonder how he's doing...?"
"Turn left and you will have reached your destination," the voice of the GPS on Natsu's phone said.
He turned left and, as promised, he had reached his destination: the bookstore. He shoved his phone into his pockets and casually walked into the store. The minute he did, he was introduced to all of the books in the largest bookstore in the city. "Damn...where will I find it...?"
He scanned the store from where he was standing and saw an area that had a fort that looked like a castle. Princesses live in castles, which means the book should be in there!
He ducked so he could enter the fort. Once he was in, he stood up straight and looked around. In the fort, there were kids laying down on the blankets as they read children's books. He went over to one girl. "You like princesses, right?"
"My mommy says to never talk to strangers," the girl said, pouting.
"But strangers are just friends you haven't met," Natsu answered, sitting next to the girl.
The girl thought about what he has just said. "True. Okay. Yes. I do like princesses. Are you hitting on me?"
"How old are you?" Natsu asked.
"I'm this many," the girl answered, holding out 7 fingers.
"Exactly, so why would I hit on a 7-year-old?" Natsu asked.
"You could be a pedophile," the girl answered.
Natsu couldn't argue with that. "Chillax. I have a girlfriend."
"Okay. We're friends now. My name is Asuka. What's your name?" The girl, Asuka, asked.
"Natsu," Natsu answered.
"Ahh. I see," Asuka answered.
"We're friends, right?" Natsu asked. Asuka nodded.
"And friends help each other, right?" Natsu asked. Asuka nodded again.
"So I need your help," Natsu answered.
"How much are you gonna pay me?" Asuka asked.
Natsu blinked. "What?"
"My mommy and daddy say that whenever people ask you for help, you have to negotiate the price," Asuka answered.
Natsu was lost. "What do you parents do?"
"They're hitmen!" Asuka cried.
No wonder, Natsu thought. "Because that's their job. Between us, there's no need for money."
"You're just saying that cuz you're broke," Asuka answered before turning away. "Friendship over."
"Wait!" Natsu cried, reaching into his pocket for Lucy's wallet. "How much do you want?"
Asuka didn't turn around.
Natsu dug through the wallet. "$10? No, what about $20?"
"$30," Asuka said without turning around.
Natsu pulled out the $10 bill and the $20 bill. "There! $30!"
Asuka turned around and happily took the money. "We're friends again! What is it that you need help with!?"
"I'm looking for this one book called Princess Flowers. You know where it is?" Natsu asked.
"Nope, but I can help you find it," Asuka answered, pulling out her phone.
She typed something on her phone. Then, she held the screen up so Natsu can see. "On this store's website, Princess Flowers is in the..." she brought the phone closer to her so she could read which section the book was in. "E-ro-ti-ca. Wow. That's a weird name."
"Nice, so where the section at?" Natsu asked.
Asuka shrugged. "I dunno. I stay at the kids section. There might be a sign though."
"'Kay, thanks," Natsu said before he crawled out of the fort. Someone with a few books in their hands was walking by so Natsu grabbed them by the arm.
"Where's the erotica section?" Natsu asked.
The person blushed, pointed to the section, and ran away.
Natsu blinked. What's wrong with them? He decided not to think so much into it and he casually strolled into the section.
"Princess Flowers...Princess Flowers..." he grumbled as he scanned the books on the bookshelf. Eventually, he landed on the book. Triumphantly, he pulled it out.
"That's a good book," someone said next to him.
He faced the person. "Really?"
The person nodded. "Gave me some good ideas to try with my ex boyfriend!"
"This is a book of ideas?" Natsu asked, studying the cover. The cover had a princess standing on a balcony kissing a shirtless man. It was nighttime judging by the stars and the full moon in the background.
"That book is true enlightenment!" The person cried, wrapping his arms around Natsu's shoulders. "If you want, I can show you some of the stuff I learned..."
"Nah. I got someone waiting for me. Thanks for the offer though," Natsu said, slipping way from the person's embrace.
He walked out of the section with the book in his hands. "Where do I pay?"
He roamed around the store until he noticed the cash register. After watching someone pay for a book, he made his way to the cash register.
The cashier scanned the book. "Buying it for your partner?"
"Yep!" Natsu answered.
"Not surprised. The book's really popular right now. I haven't read it but my sister has. She's crazy about it. You're total is $18.99 by the way," the cashier explained.
What's so great about that book? Everyone's hyping it up, Natsu wondered as he searched through Lucy's wallet for some cash.
"You know, you can pay with card," the cashier said.
Natsu looked at all of the card that were in the pockets of Lucy's wallet. He chose the fanciest looking card and held it out. "What do I do with it?"
The cashier blinked in disbelief. "Are you being for real right now?"
After studying Natsu's face, she realized he was serious. She took the card and swiped it. Once the book was paid for, she handed Natsu the card and the receipt. Then, she put the book in a shopping bag and gave it to him. "Have a good evening."
Natsu took the bag and walked out of the store. "Maybe I should read a page in this book," he decided.
Sitting on a bench where people waiting for the bus were sitting on, he took the book out of the bag and flipped to a random page. A few seconds later, his face was completely red, redder than blood. He awkwardly closed the book, put it back into the bag, and made his way back to the hospital. Had no idea Lucy was into that kind of stuff...
The minute he entered the lobby of the hospital, he immediately noticed that something was wrong. The patients, the doctors, everyone was on the ground or leaning against a surface and they were all fast asleep. Then he noticed a suspicious looking note on the front desk. He took the note and read what it said.
Neinhart made me do it!

Random Fact: 13 is my favorite number. People say it's bad luck, right? Me, I'm a walking ball of bad luck so the number 13 and I just vibe together. And speaking of bad luck, ladybugs actually give me some really bad luck. It all started when a ladybug flew into my uncle's car back when I was living in Nigeria as a kid for a little bit. Ever since that moment, I started getting really really bad luck when there's a ladybug around
