It was Dipper and Mabel's second day, of their second summer in gravity falls. Dipper, Mabel, Pacifica, and Soos were eating breakfast. "So dudes, what high jinx are we getting into this year?" asked Soos. "Soos, what are you talking about?" asked Dipper. "He's talking about all of the crazy stuff we did last summer" said Mabel. "What adventure do you have planned this time?" "I wasn't there most of last time, but I heard that you essentially acted as the team leader during those escapades" said Pacifica. "You guys clearly don't get it, we're not having a crazy quest this summer" said Dipper. "Why the heck not?" asked Mabel. "I can list several reasons" said Dipper. "For starters, we've basically discovered everything there is to know about this town." "Even if there was more to find out, all three journals are destroyed, we have no leads." "Ow...ow...ow, head is hurting again." "This brings me to another point, do you know how many times we put people in danger last summer?" "We can't take any more ridiculous chances, it doesn't help the fact that i'm still recovering from a major concussion." "That injury occurred during a freaking baseball game, and we're talking things that could rip our limbs off here." "And finally, I actually have a girlfriend this time, maybe I want to focus more on my relationship."
That night, Candy and Grenda were at the mystery shack for a sleepover. Dipper was lying in bed, trying to keep his eyes open, and Grenda pointed at the messed up condition of Dipper's face. "Are you sure this happened during a baseball game?" asked Grenda. "Are you sure you didn't get involved in a fight?" "If it was a fight, I wouldn't be here to tell the tale" said Dipper. "How long do those stitches have to be in there?" asked Candy. "Probably for the rest of summer" said Dipper. He was so tired, his head was throbbing, and he eventually fell asleep.
It wasn't long before Dipper was finally going to start work at the homeless shelter. Robbie was the first one to greet him there. "Listen dude, I know we've had a rough past, and was hoping we could put aside our differences and be friends" said Robbie. "I guess that could work, people do deserve second chances" said Dipper. An old man with a cane then came up to them. "This is my great grandfather, Jackson Valentino" said Robbie. "He owns the shelter." "I'm much older than you think I am" said Jackson. "I was born on July 4 1890, and fought in both world wars." "Now Robbie, have you decided how much money you want?" "Papa Jack I told you, i'm a better person now" said Robbie. "I shouldn't be getting paid for helping the homeless." "When people do nice things, they shouldn't ask for things in return." "Hey mister Valentino, how are you still alive after all these years?" asked Dipper. "I honestly don't really know" said Jackson. "I'll tell you this, i've had 8 hearts attacks throughout my life, but I haven't had one since I was sixty."
Work at the homeless shelter, was basically just janitorial word. This included mopping the floors and washing the windows. When Dipper was done for the day, Tambry actually took him out to see a movie. Although Dipper had trouble keeping his eyes open, he still really enjoyed the movie. He was then invited to have dinner and spend the night over at Tambry's. Despite the age difference, Tambry's parents supported her new boyfriend.
After dinner, Tambry's parents went up to bed. "So, where do you want me to sleep?" asked Dipper. "In my bed of course" said Tambry. "You don't have to sleep on the coach" said Dipper. "No, i'll still be sleeping in my bed" said Tambry. "Wait a minute, you wants us to sleep in the same bed?" asked Dipper. Dipper felt nervous. He had shared a bed with Mabel several times, but this was somebody who wasn't blood related, his girlfriend no less. "You don't have to be nervous about it, we already know what each other's underwear looks like" said Tambry. Dipper then remembered when they first starting dating, that day in the co ed bathroom.
The two were in Tambry's bedroom in their pajamas, and Dipper was taking deep breaths to calm himself down. He mentally told himself that all they would be doing is sleeping. They got under the covers, and Dipper felt his body tense up, when Tambry started holding him. "It'll be okay Dipper, you just need to relax" said Tambry. Dipper did as he was instructed, and felt much more calm. The two then fell asleep.
Authors note: Papa Jack is actually what I used to call my grandfather.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
