Chapter 18 here we go. This is a relativly short chapter compred to the past few ones. It basically gets straight t the point and I wanted to get this out so I can get started on the next chapter. This chapter should hint at whats coming next in terms of plot and ONE's fame, or more specifically finances. Also I never said it but if it was never implied, Inko is still skinny in this story and always has been. Enjoy!
Chapter 18 What you deserve
It was a sunny day in the city of Musutafu. Izuku and Momo were sitting on a park bench while they watched Eri play on the playground. She was having fun, Izuku had brought her down here several times and she enjoyed coming here. Eri was slowly but surely learning how to deal with kids her own age, she had actually made friends with a girl she met at the park named Kanna Kobayashi. Izuku wrapped his arm around Momo and she rested her head on his shoulder as they watched Eri and the girl play. "It's really nice to see Eri making friends." Momo said with a smile.
"It really is…This is actually the third time we've come out here and seen Kanna, she always looks so stone faced, but she's a good kid and she's nice to Eri so this should be good for her." Izuku said.
Izuku had told Momo about the situation in Hosu, and she herself was surprised at how bad it was. He met and fought the leader of the League Of Villains, defeated him and also learned that he was after something called OFA, which he assumed "He" had. He also talked about it with Taku and they both theorized the OFA was a quirk, a quirk that someone possessed and they needed to find it before AFO gets his hands on it. They also examined the sample he took from Carnage Kabuto and found out that he too was an engineered human but unlike Nomu he was more animal DNA. Izuku remembered the man in glasses with AFO and he slapped himself for having tunnel vision.
After a while they decided to head home, Eri said bye to Kanna with her being welcome to come over sometime. As they walked back to the Midoriya residence Izuku talked to Momo about finals coming up, he actually had his next week but he didn't stress them too much. Momo told him about how they were supposedly going to be fighting the same robots from the entrance exam. Izuku figured that was way too easy but it was whatever. They talked about the upcoming I-Island Expo. Taku was going because he had gotten the opportunity to present his inventions at the Expo this year and he was really looking forward to it. Momo was supposed to get tickets and her own hotel stay for winning the Sports Festival, and since her family has ties to the island she's getting enough tickets to bring the girls in her class with her.
Izuku was happy to hear that as they made it to his apartment. When they stepped inside Izuku saw a pair of shoes at the door that he quickly recognized as his father's. This meant several things, most notably that they should leave and come back later. Eri was in the midst of taking off her shoes when he called out to her. "Hey Eri, you know what, you wanna go get some ice cream? He suddenly asked her with a smile.
Eri looked at him slightly confused because he could have mentioned this earlier, but she liked ice cream. "Um, ok." She answered innocently before going back out the door.
Momo looked at her boyfriend suspiciously because the look on his face was a little bothering, "Izuku, is everything alright?"
In that moment Izuku cursed his impeccable hearing because the moment he entered this house he could hear the sound of flesh hitting flesh and his mother's moans of pleasure. Momo's words seemed to bring him out, "Yeah everything is just fine Momo, nothing out of the ordinary. Let's just go get some ice cream and maybe take a walk on the beach." He suggested with a smile.
Momo responded with "Ok" before they left the apartment. They were on the sidewalk, Eri was walking in front of them and her green wig flowed in the wind as Izuku and Momo spoke behind her. "Not that I mind this, but why so suddenly?"
"Well I haven't had ice cream in forever and we should definitely come back to the house later."
"Whose shoes were those?"
"They were my dad's. It wasn't anything bad but it's the norm when he comes home."
Momo raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"
"I mean dad is gone most of the time, so when he comes home they spend about two hours "catching up"." He answered with a knowing look.
Momo put a hand over her mouth and blushed as she realized what he meant, "Oooh. Good idea to come back later."
"I know right, I could hear them the moment we opened the door."
Momo's blush deepened, "I don't need that visual Izuku!" She exclaimed.
They made it to the shop and ordered some Ice cream cones, both Izuku and Eri got cookies and creme while Momo got vanilla. As they enjoyed their ice cream they began walking towards Dagobah Municipal Beach, Eri walked next to Izuku while he held hands with Momo. The teen girl couldn't help but think about something, something Izuku had never brought up. "Izuku, what's your father like?"
He looked at his girl as they walked, "Oh yeah. I guess I never mentioned dad before, did I?"
"All you ever told me was that he works overseas."
"Sorry about that. Well…I guess the best way to describe dad would be to say he's a really cool guy. Mom said when they were in school everyone thought of him as prince charming. He came from humble beginnings but was hard working and liked by everyone. My wild curls come from him, but his hair is black. I remember once we were at a restaurant and a waitress slipped but before she could fall dad caught her and caught all the food on a tray before it could hit the floor. It was just like a movie. Before I found out I was quirkless and I told him I wanted to be a hero he told me what a hero was, someone who does the right things for the right reasons because it's the right thing to do. Those words still stick with me today."
"The company he works for transferred him to their American branch when I was five, the money was good but he hated to leave, but we all made the most of it. He's basically running that place now, mom and I flew to California to visit him a few years ago and it was a good time. We talk on the phone at least twice a month. Actually after I had a talk with your classmate Todoroki and a run in with Endeavor I just had to call him and tell him I love him. Yeah he's not around a lot but I could have gotten worse in the father department."
Momo took in his words before asking a question, "Does he know about your "other life"."
"No. But I'm going to tell him, I just have to find the right time." The tranquil sounds of the ocean hit his ears and he looks to see they've almost arrived at the beach. "I'll do it out here."
"The beach?" Momo asked.
"Yeah. I like coming out here, it's very tranquil and it's a peaceful atmosphere." Izuku responded.
After a while of walking they finally made it to the beach, all of them had finished their ice cream and they took off their socks and shoes as they stepped onto the sand. Eri ran to put her feet in the water, there were a few people out and the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore just put Izuku in a state of calm. Izuku and Momo were holding hands as they walked to the shore and also put their feet in the water, it was so warm. "This beach is really beautiful. You cleaned it up right?" Momo asked.
"Yeah I did. That whole thing originally started as an outlet to clear my mind because, you know…Honestly I gained no insight from it but it was a little light training so it's whatever."
two men were passing by and one of them happened to hear what he said , "Excuse." The two teens turned to see a blonde haired skeleton looking man with blue eyes. "Not to eavesdrop on your conversation but did you say you were the one who cleaned this beach?"
"Yes sir, that was me." Izuku answered honestly and respectfully.
"That's impressive. I was curious as to who cleaned up the illegal trash dump. The place really looks beautiful, you did a good job for the community."
Izuku bowed his head, "Thank you sir. But If I'm being perfectly honest it was more of a personal project to help me find direction."
"Hm, and did it help you?"
"Not really. But I was able to do some light training and do something good for the community so it worked out in the end." He said casually.
"Wait, I remember there being piles of trash that littered this beach and you called that light! How long exactly did it take you to clean this?"
Izuku thought back to his time cleaning the beach, "Hm, a couple of days. I've had some serious physical training so it wasn't that hard." He said, rubbing his head with a smile.
"Did your quirk help you in the process?" He asked.
"Oh no, I'm quirkless sir." Izuku answered casually
The man's eyes widened upon hearing these words, "Wow. Well..I guess that makes this even more impressive." He said with a small smile.
Momo looked at the other man, he had numerous scars on the lower part of his arms, blue oval shaped eyes and a round nose. His hair was blonde, styled in a cowlick at the top and swept backwards at the bottom. "Excuse me but you look offley familiar?"
He smiled at her words. "I'm a third year at UA. I definitely know who you are, out of all the first years everyone on campus knows Momo Yaoyorozu. I'm Mirio Togata, it's nice to meet you." He said as he extended a hand that Momo shook.
Izuku took this time to play ignorant as he looked at the younger man. He snapped his fingers, "You're Lemillion right?"
"Cool, you've heard of me?"
"I have. I'm a huge hero fan and I hear even though you're still a student you have a chance to be the number one hero."
Mirio laughed to himself as he rubbed his head. "Man, no pressure! I'll have to just keep working and see what happens." He said with a smile.
"That's all any of us can do." Izuku stated
"Anyway, we'll be on our way. You two have a good day." The Skeleton man said as he began to walk away.
"Wait sir before you go, I've seen you out here multiple times. Do you mind if I ask your name?"
He turned around and replied, "Toshinori Yagi."
"Nice to meet you, Mr Yagi. I'm Izuku Midoriya." He said as he extended a hand
He smiled back at the teen as he shook his hand, "Nice to meet you young Midoriya." He said before leaving.
Momo and Izuku turned back to the water and began walking down the shore. Toshinori heard the students of class 1A mention Yaoyorozu's boyfriend and Aizawa said he was impressed by how he helped the students before the sports festival. But he couldn't escape the feeling he had met that kid at some point.
The three of them walked in the water along the beach for a while before they decided to head back home. They eventually made it back to the Midoriya house and when they entered they could hear the sound of the TV in the living room. Everyone took off their shoes at the front door, "Mom! We're home!" Izuku exclaimed as he walked into the living room with Momo and Eri. When they walked in they saw Inko sitting on the couch with a tall, handsome, relatively muscular, middle aged man who strongly favored Izuku with red eyes and black curly hair identical to Izuku's. This was Hisashi Midoriya and he stood up, observing the teenage boy as he stepped closer.
"Wow Izuku. You've really grown a lot since I last saw you!" He said as he approached the teen and pulled him into a hug.
"It's good to see you too, dad." Izuku said, smiling as he reciprocated the hug.
Hisashi put his hands on the boy's shoulders and took a moment to look at his son before he slid a hand over his head. He smiled, "Keep growing like this and you'll be taller than me before too long." He said with a proud smile. He then felt his son's biceps and was amazed, "Dang Izuku. Good to know you're not skipping your workouts." He then turned to the teenage girl next to his son, "Well, are you gonna introduce us or what? He asked, cocking his head towards Momo.
"Right! Momo this is my dad, dad this is my girlfriend Momo Yaoyorozu." He said, nudging Momo a little.
Momo smiled as she bowed her head, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Midoriya."
He smiled at the girl, "Hisashi Midoriya. It's an honor to meet you too Yaoyorozu." He then made a face as if he were in thought, "Would you happen to know a Seiya Yaoyorozu by any chance?"
Momo's eyes widened and smiled at him in surprise, "Yes sir, he's my father."
Hisashi's face lit up, "Get out of town! Man, I haven't seen that guy since university graduation! How has he been? You look just like Miyako so I assume they're still going strong."
Momo smiled at the fact that he knew her parents, "Yes sir! Their marriage is an example to all. I wish to someday have a bond just like theirs."
Hisashi turned to his son, "Well if this one doesn't mess it up you just might." He said with a smile
This caused Izuku to blush and Inko hid her laughs, while Momo smiled at how cute he was. Hisashi then took a knee to get on the level of the little girl in a green haired wig, "Hi, you must be Eri?" He asked with a warm and welcoming smile.
The little girl clug to and hid behind Izuku's leg, but she looked at the man and responded "Yes".
Hisashi could see how scared and nervous she was, and actually a little proud of how she turned to his son for protection. He extended a hand, "You don't have to be afraid. I think you're really brave, and it's really sweet how you turn to Izuku when you're scared. I know I just got here, so you don't have to open up right away. But I want you to know, he isn't the only one who thinks you should be loved and protected." These warm and kind words made her loosen her grip on Izuku's leg and face the older man who outstretched his arms. "Can I get a hug Eri? I like hugging. Red eyes met red eyes and the look in Eri's eyes was one of intense emotion as she threw herself into the arms of the older Midoriya man. He gripped her, rubbed her back and embraced her in a way she had never known. Eri felt so warm inside, It was different from how Izu-Nii embraced her, this was the warmth and embrace of a father.
They all sat in the living room and talked amongst themselves while Inko started on dinner.
"Izuku, correct me if I'm wrong but you have finals coming up right?" Hisahi asked.
"Yeah I've got them next week but I'm not too worried about them. My scores are third among the first years, I'm more looking forward to summer break."
"Why's that?" The father asked.
"You remember my friend Taku right? Well I'm going with him to the I-Island Expo." He said excitedly.
"Oh yeah that is coming up isn't it. I have a friend who goes out there every year and according to him it's always a good time. You never know what you may be able to find."
"Ain't that the truth. Taku is actually presenting some of his inventions at the expo, he hasn't told me what yet but if I know him, it's gonna be something world shaking."
Momo chimed in, "Fujiwara's always been so innovative. I'll admit even I can't guess what he might make."
"The scientists that go out there are really something. HIsashi said. "By the way, Yaoyorozu. I hear your parents wanted us to have dinner together but you were waiting for me, how soon can we do that?" He asked with a smile."
"Knowing my mother she'll probably want to do it this weekend. I'll ask her and give you the details."
"Thank you."
"Mr. Midoriya, may I ask how exactly you know my parents?"
"Your father and I were friends back in university. I believe we bagan hanging out in our second year. We had a mutual friend and that was your mom, who I knew from highschool." Hisashi threw his head back and smiled at the nostalgia, "Back in those days we got into so many funny situations. I could really tell you some stories about your folks from back in the day."
Mom looked at the man excitedly, "Please tell me.
HIsashi rubbed his chin as he thought of a story to tell. He snaps his finger when he remembers one, "The X party!" He exclaimed.
Inko's eyes widen as she dramatically yells from the kitchen, "Don't tell them that!"
Hisashi's face morphs into a mischievous grin, "Oh I'm telling it love."
Seeing his mom's reaction gets Izuku interested in hearing the story. "What happened dad?" He asked with a smile.
"Alright, this is how it started. It was a Friday night. Your father, myself and two other guys named Jiro and Shisou are in my dorm room. We're drinking and playing fighting games when I get a text from these guys I know. They rented a house out and apparently were having a party, I said alright and I spreaded the word about it. They asked me to try and score some ecstasy." Both teens went wide eyed when they heard this. "Oh relax you'll do it at least once in your lifetime…Moving on, we went over to my guy to get the stuff, he had a Geisha statue. Remember that for later. Keep in mind we're all a little loaded so we're laughing, cutting up and cracking jokes the whole way there so I didn't register at the time that your father STOLE the man's Geisha."
Momo brought her hands to her mouth to cover her shocked smile, "So when we get to the party it's like maybe 200 people give or take. The house was huge! Two floors, plenty of space and rooms, and a big backyard with a huge pool. There was no shortage of alcohol at this thing but ecstasy wasn't the only drug there, people were smoking weed and the house was just lit. Music is banging, people are dancing and it was just a really intense time to just GO for it and cut loose. Time goes by, and more and more people pile into this place. I mean it's really getting packed and I could tell a lot of the people coming in were in highschool. Nobody cared though we just kept partying and inevitably the neighbors called the cops." He said suddenly causing the teens eyes to go even wider, "Everything and everyone went completely silent! I swear you could hear crickets chirping, it was so quiet. They convinced the cops to leave and NOT search the backyard filled with like 500 people.
"A little over two minutes after they left the music and the party was back on. That's when things really heated up. I'm talking about people spraying graffiti on the walls, we're having wet t-shirt contests, men and women coming out of their clothes and jumping into the pool. I finally noticed that Geisha your dad stole because he took the remainder of the ecstasy I bought and put it into the Geisha. This fool then uses his quirk to make a baseball bat, tosses it up and breaks it! People rushed to those pills on the ground like ducks to bread. Somebody brought an inflatable for some reason and people were jumping and dancing in it. I walk back inside to see your mom and this other girl upside down chugging beer from a Kegger tube. I think she won that game. We talked for a little bit and the only reason SHE came to this was because I sent the message out to most of my phone. Your dad didn't even tell her about this."
"Your father and I end up on the roof somehow and I'm just really feeling myself, I'm dancing and just killing it. How I didn't fall off that roof don't ask me, I look over to the pool and I see two familiar girls that I know very well. ONE had spikey ash blonde hair while the other one looked like my girlfriend who would NEVER come to a party like this." Inko blushed from hearing his words. "People see us on the roof and tell us to jump on the inflatable below us, your dad went for and landed on it but he ended up breaking his thumb. ME, I jumped from the roof and used my quirk to fly to the pool. When I hit that water I swam under my girlfriend's look alike and scooped her up and it turns out this WAS my girl, I'm not seeing things."
"That's a lie and you know it! Inko shot from the kitchen.
They all turned to her, "Wait are you saying that cute girl with her hair styled just like yours swimming in a t-shirt and her underwear next to who I'm certain was Mitsuki wasn't you?" He asked playfully.
She playfully glared at him, "Oh that was me. But you didn't scoop me up when you got into the pool. Mitsuki and I were watching you and when you got in the water and swam towards me you tried to take off my panties!" She exclaimed. Both Izuku and Momo went wide eyed as they smiled while picturing the scene.
Hisashi scrunched his nose and raised an eyebrow, "Did I?"
Inko looked at him slightly annoyed, "Yes! Mitsuki and I actually kicked you a couple of times to get you to stop."
"Hm, well did that thing with the midget happen?"
"What midget?" Izuku asked.
"Some idiots put a midget in the over and once he got out he started attacking every guy he saw below the belt."
"Did he get you?" Momo asked.
"Yep. He actually hot wired somebody's car and drove it into the pool. The moment he got out of the water he just walks up, drops me and keeps on moving. After Inko and Mitsuki had to help me up, we saw fire from outside, police choppers were flying over, I'm like okay it's time to go. I round up my boys plus the girls and the ecstasy guy is outside. He had a fire quirk and using some support items he started shooting fire everywhere and SCREAMING my name demanding to get his Geisha back! Naturally I don't have it and I'm looking at your dad like WHAT! Luckily for us the cops and heroes burst onto the scene, took him down and everyone is just running away. The fire department had to use a helicopter to drop water on the place because the fire was getting so bad and we all made it out with a cool little story to tell."
"Dad, this HAD to have been all over the news." Izuku stated.
"It was. There were 2000 people at this party. No one died thank heaven, but a lot got arrested." Hisashi let out a breath of nostalgia, "And that's just one of our many good times from school."
"I had no idea my parents were so intense back in their youth." Momo smiled.
"Eh, that's how it is when you're young. You spend your early adult years wild and energetic then at 25 or so, you spend the rest of it mellowing out."
"Duly noted." Momo said.
They continued to talk and watch TV until it was time for dinner. After the meal Hisashi had words for his family. "Family I have an announcement to make, I could have mentioned this earlier but I wanted to unwind for a bit before mentioning it and now that I'm satiated I feel now's a good time."
"What is it dear?" Inko asked curiously.
"It's wonderful news, and that is. I'm being transferred and promoted at work!" He said excitedly.
Both Inko and Izuku's eyes widened at this news, "D-does that mean?" Inko began with a hopeful look in her eyes.
Her husband's smile shined beautifully as he looked at her, "That's right! After ten years abroad I'm finally coming home!"
"Inko squealed with joy as she jumped into his arms and hugged him, "That's incredible Hisashi! We've been hoping for this for so long!" She exclaimed excitedly.
Hisashi hugged her tightly, fully welcoming her embrace and emotion from this news. "I know and it's finally happening."
Izuku perked up, "What's your promotion dad?" He asked with a smile.
"The company wants me to be the new CBO for the Japanese branch since I turned the American branch into what it is today. We're literally crushing them three times over and they practically begged me to come back!" He said, pumping his fist.
Inko smiled as she was truly happy for her husband, "I'm so proud of you honey."
"Thank you, love. I still remember when they were quick to ship me out and now this..It just feels so good."
"When will you start?" Izuku asked.
"Five weeks, I'll be home for ten days. When I get back I train my replacement but she already knows the ropes for the most part. Handle a few more things then I'll be heading home!" He exclaimed excitedly.
Izuku was happy. His father was getting the promotion he deserved, and he was coming home. He's always wished that he were around more often and now he gets his wish. But a part of him got a little nervous, as this meant he definitely needed to tell his father about his double life as a hero. Just like his mom he was sure he would understand if he explained the situation but still. All his father knew was that he did martial arts and that he was rejected from the hero course for being quirkless, but he didn't know just HOW strong he was. Even his mom didn't stop worrying until he showed her his strength and saw his actions on TV or online.
"It's good that you're coming back dad." Izuku said as he hugged his father into a tight embrace.
Izuku, Momo and Taku were headed to the mall to catch a movie, they got there early so they decided to look around and maybe hit up some shops. As they walk into the mall they could see multiple people wearing clothes, clothes that had ONE on them. Babies were wearing ONE themed onesies, little kids, teenagers and some adults were wearing ONE t-shirts, tank tops, and hoodies. Graphic shirts with "I Got This!" on them above a picture of ONE in his stance. There were several other graphic tees of ONE and his super moves on the people they passed. One was a picture of ONE punching surrounded by fireballs with "Waves of Blaze" captioned above it. Another was ONE in a pyramid of himself with "Flash Clone" at the top. Another was a picture of ONE flying above the city and kicking off the air that had "Sky Walk" above it.
"W-what the hell?" Izuku asked, genuinely confused.
"It looks like ONE has merch." Taku answered.
Momo sees a girl in a ONE theme crop top walking towards them, "Excuse me, where did you get that?"
The girl told them the name of the shop and the trio went over to see people coming in and out with or wearing something that had ONE on it. They went into the shop and the place was packed with people trying to buy stuff with ONE's theme or face on it. There were T-shirts, graphic tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, long sleeve shirts, onesies, tank tops, hats and crop tops, joggers and shorts, even socks. The three looked around at all the merchandise in the store, Izuku picked up a black shirt that had a picture of him and "I Got This!" in white. Taku was looking at the sweatshirts with his alpha suit design, "ONE needs to get a new agent, he's getting screwed." He said jokingly.
Izuku chuckled a bit, "I know right." He then looked at Momo who was looking at the tag of a shirt. "Something wrong Momo?"
"This company..my father OWNS part of it." She answered him surprised.
This caused Izuku to raise an eyebrow, "Really?"
Taku looked at the tag of a graphic tee, a distinct small smile on his face that Izuku just barely managed to catch. "I think I'll get this one. Seeing ONE fly across the city is always cool to see." He said before he got a pair of joggers and he got in line at the counter, Momo and Izuku both bought shirts too because why not? They went to the theater and enjoyed their movie, after they left the mall they decided to head back to Taku's house. On the way there, Izuku finally brought up what's been on his mind, "Alright Taku, what did you do?"
"Do what?" He responded.
"DO WHAT." Izuku said mockingly, "I mean why do I have a shirt with ONE on it?"
"Because you paid for it?" He answered.
Izuku just narrowed his eyes and looked at the greynette with a blank expression. "I'll tell you when we get home." He finally said.
Once they made it to the Fujiwara mansion the three saw Taku's father Taichi Fujiwara coming down the stairs in a black business suit with a cream color undershirt and a grey tie. He was a tall, handsome, middle aged man with short, straight, spikey, grey hair. He had brown eyes and Taku was his spitting image. "Hey there kids. Did you do a little shopping?" He asked, giving his son a knowing look.
Taku answered, "Actually we went to see a movie. We're about to play a little VR."
"Dad finally finished that game huh? Well you three have fun." He said as began to walk past the group before stopping at Izuku, "Something you want to ask me Midoriya?"
Izuku met the older man's eyes, "Yes sir. Why is there merchandise of ONE on sale in stores?"
Taichi chuckled to himself before he smiled and turned to his son "You never told him?"
"Nah, it was too priceless to see the look on his face when he saw it." Taku answered with a mischievous grin.
"Can one of you please just tell me what's going on?" Izuku pleaded.
"Alright, you remember last year when you stopped that Tsunami?" Taku asked.
"Yes, what about it?" Izuku answered as he remembered decimating a tsunami with one punch last october.
Well that was when I realized that you were truly on the map, and sooner or later everyone would know who you were."
Taichi continued, "Takumi came to me and we were able to get a copyright for ONE's likeness." Izuku's eyes widened.
"Relax Izu, you OWN the copyright. But as far as people who need to know, dad, myself, and now you and Yaoyorozu are in on it too ." Taku said suddenly.
"A few months ago I decided to pursue this venture. As you should at least suspect I have ownership in various companies both domestic and foreign. Long story short I used my position at the largest clothing manufacturer in the country to make and produce the apparel you've seen today. This is the first day it's been released to the public but I'm sure it's likely to blow up in the coming weeks. The largest shops are in Shizuoka but given time we may expand."
"How does this protect my identity?"
"As far as my competitors know, I own the copyright to do any of this, and anyone who wants to use ONE's image has to go through me, and trust me when I say no one wants a legal battle with me."
"But ONE's a vigilante. Isn't this Illegal?"
"This is more on the lines of unethical instead of illegal. At least it would be, if YOU didn't actually own the copyright. They could suspect that I know who you are but they don't need to know that. Also.." He said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a check, "Consider this a bonus, that way this is no longer unethical." He said as he handed the teen the check.
Izuku took the check and his eyes went wide at the 12.7 million yen check his best friend's dad had just given him. "Mr. Fujiwara-." He began
Taichi put a hand up to stop the teen from what he was about to say. "No you take it Midoriya. I know you don't do what you do for money or reward. But you're about to make millions of yen, and it isn't coming from saving lives, it'll come because people like to buy stuff with your face on it. You're a good friend to Takumi plus your practically family. My son wanted to look out for his friend and I had the means to do so so I figured why not. We're about to make SO MUCH money together because the clothing apparel is only phase one."
"Phase one? Izuku asked, surprised.
"Yes, phase one. These are becoming hard times, villains are becoming more daring and heroes are losing confidence, which is and is not your fault. This country needs a rallying cry, a reminder of why we love heroes and what a hero is. I believe ONE is that hero everyone needs. So the next step is ONE action figures, fast food tie ins, a limited edition collectable sneaker line. ONE posters, a potential ONE video game and documentary film highlighting your greatest achievements including the people directly affected by you. And all you have to do is just keep doing what you're doing." He said in a genuinely honest tone.
Izuku looked at the check and back at the older man. He thought to himself that this is a lot of money, and Fujiwara did have a point. This came from business not hero actions, with his dad's new job they were going to be even more financially secure than they were before and he knew from all this he was about to be VERY wealthy. He didn't mind not making a dime as ONE, his plan was alway to have a real job and keep his secret identity in the future but if this could loosen any financial burdens he had then fine. This could do so much and set up his future in a good position. Maybe help in his future business endeavors. He could also help Eri, because after he gets a reason to bust Shie Hassikai specifically Overhaul's head in, they're definitely adopting her.
"What about Taxes?"
"I have friends at the finance ministry, just leave that to us. If anyone asks if you're being paid, just say I reached out to you. We'll set up an account for you. I'll get that information to you later, if you want to talk this over with your parents feel free to do that, we can all gladly talk about it together if you like."
Izuku turned to his best friend both surprised and amazed that he would go this far to help him out and expand his brand, something he himself didn't care too much for but hearing this means a lot of people will benefit from it. He looked at Taichi before bowing his head, "Thank you Mr. Fujiwara."
"The older man smiled as put a hand on the teens shoulder, "You bet. Just keep being a hero."
"I will!" Izuku declared with conviction.
Momo, who had been watching and listening the entire time stepped up, "Excuse me, Mr. Fujiwara, I know my father also has ownership in the company that makes the clothing, how did you get him to go along with this?"
"Well ONE DID save his life a few weeks ago so it wasn't a hard sell." He responded smiling.
Momo nodded at his words "I see."
"Well, I'm headed out. You kids have fun." Taichi said before walking away from the group.
The three teens waved to the man as he left the house. Izuku turned to Taku, "Thanks."
He smiled back, "Don't mention it." He answered before turning to walk to the game room with Izuku and Momo behind him.
Izuku and Hisashi had finished their morning workout as they arrived at Dagobah Municipal Beach. Izuku was fresh as a cucumber while Hisashi was breathing heavily, they had run ten kilometers which is far less than Izuku usually ran but that was a little over his fathers usual. They both stepped onto the beach, both taking in the tranquil sound of the waves. They were the only one's on the beach as they began to walk up the shore. Hisashi joked of how it was cute and a little weird that Eri slept with him, Izuku responded that he didn't mind since she wasn't a bed wetter. They continue to talk about several topics as they head up the beach. They talked about the beach itself, with Izuku telling his father that he had cleaned it, and Hisashi telling him they came out here a few times when he was little but he hated salt water.
They talked about his relationship with Momo. Hisashi had seen how the two interacted and he gently elbowed him for bringing home such a pretty girl. Izuku blushed a little, during their talk he even joked about the notes he took on the sex talk. He told him that Taku read it and would gladly pay his eventual therapy bills, Hisashi laughed hysterically at this. The subject of school and his future career goals came up and the father seemed pleased with what he heard.
They talked about heroes and the bad rep Japanese pros have gotten the past few months. Hisashi admitted there was a time where he wanted both he and Inko to move to America with him as the country seemed to have gotten so dangerous. He was horrified he had lost one of them after Vaccine Man's attack but Inko convinced him they were fine because of a hero named ONE. He brought this up again after the meteor incident but no American news outlets had any answers to who this ONE was. Knowing his son was a hero nerd he asked him, "Do you know anything about ONE? People in the city really know about him?"
Izuku stopped walking. This was it, this was the moment he told his father the truth. He looked around to see that no one was around to hear them, "Dad, It's me. I'm ONE." He said confidently.
Hisashi looked at his son, red eyes met emerald and Izuku didn't seem like he was joking. He knew he'd been doing martial arts since he was seven, and he was admittedly irate when he wasn't allowed to try for the hero course because he was quirkless. But he got into one of the top schools for academics, so he figured he had let it go. He remembers on his visits when Izuku was younger, he was always practicing his martial arts. There were times he was genuinely worried about him because he looked to be in pain all the time and constantly pushed through it. As a man it was admirable but as a parent it was very concerning. When Inko said they were fine because of ONE he looked into him as much as he could, He found out that months prior ONE had decimated a tsunami and most recently he was suspected as being the one who obliterated the meteor that would have destroyed several prefectures.
"How?" The question escaped his lips.
"My master Keizo theorized that the training I did practically everyday for eight years broke my limiter. That's the physical limitation that every living creature possesses. Both my masters are remarkable individuals in their own right, but even they can't do some of the things I can do." Izuku said, looking at his hand.
"Such as?" Hisashi asked with a raised eyebrow.
Izuku used all his senses as he checked to make sure no one was near them, after checking that the coast was clear he got into his stance. "This." He threw a punch so powerful the wind pressure knocked Hisashi over, the man looked to see his son's punch had parted the ocean for miles and was still going. Massive walls of water reached for the sky as the older Midorya sat on the sand with his mouth agape.
The shore eventually returned to normal with Hisashi's mind still in utter shock from what he had just witnessed. His son, his quirkless son, was the city's infamous vigilante. The same vigilante who saved the city and more on multiple occasions, he took a moment to get his mind right as he stood up and faced his son. "Let's head home. We've got a while and a lot to talk about." Izuku nodded and walked with his father.
As they headed back Izuku told his dad everything. How it hurt when All Might told him to give it up, the heartbreak he felt in being rejected from the hero course. How he saved a woman from a serial stabber, and how he decided to become a vigilante. How Taku and his family have been a huge help and how he and his grandpa made his suit and equipment. How his first night went and how he felt. He told him about some of his most intense cases. Including some of the investigations and detective work he's done, and the interactions he's had with both civilians and heroes. He even told him about the most recent business ventures Taku's dad is doing while also paying him.
They made it back home and went inside, Hisashi had taken in everything his son had said. He was admittedly worried about how this could affect his future but felt an overwhelming sense of pride. His son who had endured so much, stuck to his guns and chased his dream like a real champ. He only wished that Izuku had told him this sooner, maybe he wouldn't have worried as much. Izuku is doing all of this because he just wants to help people, he's become a real hero. The same hero he described to him when he was a child.
Hisashi put his hand on Izuku's head and smiled, "Well then, it looks like you've truly become a hero Izuku."
"So you're not mad?"
The father continued to smile, "I'm too proud, how could I possibly be mad? You've become a man. My only regret is that I wasn't here to see it all the way." He said with pride.
Izuku was both happy and thankful. He was able to tell his dad the truth and he accepted it with open arms, he was another person in his support system and he was grateful. "Thanks dad."
Inko watched her boys from the next room. A smile on her face as she was happy they finally had this conversation. Hisashi was right, their little Izuku had become a man. It was far sooner than they realized, but the future seemed bright for all of them.
Today was the day the Midoriya's were set to have dinner with the Yaoyorozu family. Izuku, Inko, Eri and Hisashi were all dressed up as they made it to the front gate. Izuku was wearing a black dress shirt with a red vest over it, black slacks and black dress shoes. Hisashi was wearing a black suit with a navy blue undershirt, white tie, black slacks and black shoes. Inko had on a navy blue, short sleeve, knee length dress and white kitten heels. Eri wore a white, short sleeve blouse, a red skirt, white socks and black dress shoes along with her green, wavy haired wig.
Hisashi spoke into the intercom and the gate opened up for them and they drove in. Both Inko and Hisashi were amazed at the size and grandeur of the mansion as it came into view as they drove up the road to the mansion. After parking the car they headed to the front door, Izuku rang the bell and as usual Saikawa answered the door. "Welcome Midoriya family, we've been expecting you." He said with his eyes closed.
"Hello Saikawa, how are you doing today?" Izuku asked with a smile.
"I am well. Please come with me." He said and the family followed him to the dining room where they found Momo wearing a sleeveless black lace, knee length dress in kitten heels standing next to her mother. Miyako Yaoyorozu, she was just as tall as Momo. She was a beautiful, middle aged woman with a more curvaceous figure than her daughter, with long black hair with cat-like onyx eyes. She was wearing a long sleeve black dress and black heels. Both were smiling as the family drew closer, Miyako looked at Hisashi with a warm smile, "Nearly twenty years and you're still a sight for sore eyes." She said with a smile.
The older Midoriya man met her eyes, "Has it really been that long? Well the years have clearly been good to you." He said as he walked up and she pulled him into a hug.
Izuku looked at Momo, his mind was blown with how beautiful she looked, "You both look really beautiful this evening."
Momo smiled with a slight blush, "Thank you Izuku. All of you are dressed splendidly."
Inko spoke up, "Well we've wanted to do this for a while now. Thank you for having us over." She said with a smile looking at Miyako.
"Of course." The other mother nodded her head. "Shall we sit down?"
"We shall." Izuku said as he took Momo's hand and walked to the dinner table.
"Is your husband going to be joining us?" Hisashi asked.
"He is. YHe's taking care of some business right now, he can be a workaholic when it comes to a venture he's passionate about."
"Hm, some things never change." Hisashi said with a smile.
They all sat down at the huge table with Miyako sitting at one end while Izuku, Momo and Eri sat on one side in the middle while Hisashi and Inko sat across from them. They all talked for a while before Seiya Yaoyorozu entered the room, he was wearing a black business suit and he put his phone in his pocket having just finished a call. He looked at Hisashi who turned from Inko to meet his gaze with a smile on his face, "Hisashi Midoriya. How have you been?" He asked in a tone of speaking to an old friend.
Hisashi got up and shook his head, "I've been good Yaoyorozu, REALLY good. It's been far too long."
"You know, I've actually got a bit of a bone to pick with you." He said in a joking tone.
"I just got here and we haven't seen each other since graduation, what could I have possibly done already?" Hisashi said dramatically.
Seiya, still smiling, answered him. "Why..Would you ever..Tell my daughter about the X party?!" He exclaimed.
"Well when I found out Momo was your daughter I got a little nostalgic. So I told the kids a story about our old times at university. It was a fun time, was I not allowed to tell it?" He asked jokingly.
"No! No you weren't!" He answered playfully.
Everyone at the table laughed to themselves at the scene between the two fathers. Miyako was enjoying the moment but it was almost time to eat. "Relax honey. I agree with Midoriya that it was a pretty fun night from our youth. Sit down, we're about to have dinner."
Her husband didn't argue as he sat at the head of the table. Hisashi decided to keep conversations going, "I see that business has been good to you."
"It's been very good as of late. I'll admit I'm a little frustrated right now with one of my associates, he seized an opportunity from right under me and now he's able to capitalize on it far more than me.
"Well that is the price of business." Hisashi stated.
"Truly." Seiya replied.
Izuku perked up, "Mr. Yaoyorozu, The ONE merchandise in stores right now. You had a hand in that right?"
"Yes I did, and it's also why I'm frustrated. You're good friends with Takumi Fujiwara correct?" Izuku nodded. "Well his father is the associate I referred to. I am a fan of ONE, and I would have loved to do those business ventures, but..I was beaten to the punch…Oh well such is life." He said finally accepting the situation.
They all continued to talk amongst each other. They all spoke about various things with both sides of parents telling embarrassing stories of when their kids were young. Hisashi told Seiya about work and the two talked about many of the current things going on. Miyako had the entire table laughing from the story of their most recent business trip overseas. Izuku brought up the subject of the I-Island Expo and how he's going with Taku because he's presenting an invention. Seiya commented that the Fujiwara's while brilliant are crazy, and he meant mad scientist crazy. Those at the table who knew this chuckled.
Dinner arrived with chefs bringing a serving of rice, soup, fried and grilled fish along with vegetables to each person at the table along with a drink. After thanking for the food, everyone began to eat. The food was delicious, the Midoriya's were amazed by the talents of their chefs, Inko made a mental reminder to get some recipes before she left. After eating, the Midoriya's commented on how good the food was and they all went back to talking. After a while Miyako figured it was time for some quality entertainment. She looked to her daughter who was conversing with Inko, "Momo?"
Her daughter turned to her, "Yes mother?"
"How about you entertain our guests with some music?" She asked with a smile.
Momo looked hesitant for a moment before Izuku spoke, "That sounds fun. It's always good to hear you play." He said, giving her a knowing look.
Momo returned his look, "Alright, but only if you perform with me." She said, smiling.
Izuku, smiling, "So we're doing this again?"
"That's right." She answered.
Hisashi looked at the pair, "Why am I getting the feeling I'm missing out on something?"
"You and me both." Seiya said with a raised brow.
"I think I know what it is." Inko said looking at her son and they all left the dinner table and went into the living room where Momo sat down at a grand piano with Izuku standing next to her. Inko pulled out her phone and started recording as the two teens gave one final look to each other.
Momo began playing an acoustic version of Be The One by Pandora. The two sang the song as a perfect duet, Both Hisashi and Seiya were surprised that their kids sounded so good together. Hisashi was a little ashamed to not know Izuku could sing. Both mothers were enjoying the moment, truly feeling the emotion of the music being made. Their parents gave them an applause when their song ended and Inko was happy that she had all of that recorded. Eri really enjoyed their song as she jumped and hugged Momo. The entire scene was beautiful. The night continued with both families making a friendship and the relationship between the children at the center of this event all the more stronger.
Chapter 18 is in the books. I was always going to have Hisashi be a part of the story and now he is. Izuku is on his way to becoming a very rich man, and the jealousy is about to run so deep amongst pro heroes. So now the Midoriya and Yaoyorozu families have formed a bit of a friendship, this will be good for the birthday and holiday chapters when we get to them. Leave a review on the chapter and give me your thoughts because the next two chapter are going to be fun. "Next time, ONE talks to Eraserhead, pros get together to have a discussion about ONE, Izuku and Mirko bang, Izuku and Momo have final exams and Izuku and Taku head to I-Island. See you then.
