She couldn't make her body stop shaking. Sitting in front of the computer screen she stared straight ahead, refusing to turn her head toward the left. Refusing to look out at Edgar's body.
"Chloe," she could hear Jack calling her, but she couldn't seem to make herself answer him. "Chloe, I need you to get into Henderson's files."
She felt like she wasn't inside her own body. Like she was looking down at herself and everyone from above.
"Chloe."
"For God's sakes, would you give her a minute? She just watched her friend die." From above herself she heard the man behind Kim say to Jack.
"We might not have a minute. I need Chloe now."
"Why? What exactly is the rush?" Kim asked, her voice strained, "We are trapped in here."
"The rush is that a canister of nerve gas was released here a few minutes ago. Two more were released today and there are still seventeen missing. Besides that, we have no idea how long we are safe in here. Now, everyone please shut up."
Jack once again focused his attention on her. From above she watched him take her hands in his. "Chloe, listen to me. I need you to snap out of this right now. I wish I could give you time to grieve, to cry, but there is no time. I need you to get into Henderson's files and help me stop them from releasing anymore nerve gas. I need you to get us out of here."
She needed to be back inside herself. Why couldn't she do it? Why couldn't she move.
"Chloe, I cannot do this without you," Jack said, clearly becoming desperate.
Suddenly Chloe took a deep breath. She turned towards Jack, "What do you need me to do?"
