Man I really took my time with this one. Every time I sat down and said "yeah let's write some more I can work out the next chapter today" I saw Dragon Quest on my phone and the rest is history (you should totally play DQIII though it's one of the best video games I've ever played). Anyway, I finally finished this. It's a little messy like the last chapter so I hope there aren't any plotholes I missed or something. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! :)

Midoriya woke up in his hospital bed, a bit dazed. He glanced at the clock, it was 9:30am. Recovery Girl had removed his full-body cast and left the casts on the arms and legs. He removed his blanket slowly with his slung arms and saw the bandages across his chest for his broken ribs. Conveniently, Recovery Girl stepped in, as she tends to do.

"You're up late, you bum," she sneered at him with a grin.

"Well I need to rest to regain my energy, right?" Midoriya mumbled groggily.

"Yes, that's right," she smooched his cheek and he felt his chest swell. From crushed ribs to a deep breath, Midoriya sat up and smiled at the nurse.

"Thanks Recovery Girl!" he struggled to get out of bed with his still-broken arms and legs as she brought a wheelchair to his bed. She helped him into the chair and wheeled him over to the dorms.

For the second time across two days, Midoriya entered the common room with broken bones. This time, however, he showed up in a wheelchair with four casts and the nurse herself.

"M-Midoriya?" Iida turned his head to look at the wheelchair-bound kid smile sheepishly.

"Hello, Iida…" he chuckled a little awkwardly. When Iida approached him, much of the class that was downstairs followed suit. They all crowded around him and asked if this was his quirk again.

"Yeah…" Midoriya sorta shrugged. "I started practicing control with my quirk, but I couldn't quite get it down and… my body kind of… burst." Everyone looked at him in shock.

"How much power were you using to do that?!" Sero asked incredulously.

"Uh, I was trying to use less power, but it was still maybe… 20%? I really tried to suppress it, but I panicked and couldn't calm down…" Midoriya shrank in his seat a bit.

"Man, it's no fair!" Kaminari whined, "this guy has the strongest quirk in the class but he can't even use it!" Midoriya's mind immediately went to how All Might could've passed on One for All to someone else, and how it would probably be better off with someone else. He silenced the dark corners of his mind as he turned to Kaminari.

"What do you mean? Your quirk is so cool!" he cheered. "You can use electricity, right? There are so many applications to that, especially as a hero! If you send a current down someone's spine, you could paralyze them temporarily! Or just shock them and knock them out like that. I'm sure if you started playing with magnets, you could get some support items to use your quirk in unexpected ways!" Everyone saw how Midoriya's eyes lit up as he spoke about a quirk that he hardly knew anything about. Kaminari was absolutely blown away.

"Can I really do all that with my quirk?" he asked.

"Yeah!" Midoriya's smile shone like a beautiful sunset, "I can show you if you'd like!" He turned around to Recovery Girl, who was about to see herself out, "Do you think I can write?"

She nodded, "give it maybe a half an hour and you can remove the bandages off your hands to write. Your arms will still need time to heal though," she smiled at him and took her leave, calling over her shoulder, "remember, you should be all healed by noon!"

Kaminari approached him and the rest of the class began to go back to doing their own things. Midoriya had noticed that Asui wasn't in the common room. Neither was Bakugou.

"Hey, I'll wheel you to your room," Kaminari offered, "and I'll swing by in a half an hour to bring you to my room, if you wanna talk about my quirk." He came behind Midoriya's wheelchair and pushed him towards the elevator.

"Thanks," Midoriya smiled. They took the elevator to Midoriya's room on the second floor and Kaminari helped him into his bed before waving and assuring that he'd be back soon. Midoriya stared at the ceiling, wondering where Asui was before returning to the thought of how One for All would be better in someone else's hands.

… … …

Asui laid in bed, quietly panicking under her blanket. She was supposed to confess her feelings to Midoriya that evening at 7:00. She couldn't bear to face him before then, having to talk to him as if they weren't planning this excursion. She's asked Ashido to text her when Midoriya returns and if he's ok (since she was the one trying to get them together), and she was marginally relieved to hear that he returned in a wheelchair covered in bandages.

"Ribbit, ribbit," she croaked anxiously, crawling out of her bed as she began pacing around her room. It took all her willpower to not rush down to Midoriya's room and make sure he was ok, maybe bring him an extra pillow and some movies they could watch together…

"Ribbit… ribbit… wow, I'm in it really deep…" she sighed and looked around her room for things to clean, a habit she picked up from watching her siblings for so long. "Well, ribbit, today's the day… it's now or never, ribbit…"

After her room was tidied up, she returned to her bed and grabbed her phone. After a couple scrolls through social media, she decided to text Ashido.

Tsu: Where am I meeting him tonight?

Mina: So forward and to the point, I love it~! 3

Mina: Jirou says to go to the courtyard of the dorms at 7

Tsu: Thanks

Asui started down at her phone and cursed her antisocial nature as their conversation finished. She wanted to continue, but didn't leave a good opening to do so. She decided to just bit the bullet and make it awkward as she closed her eyes and hit send on her next message.

Tsu: Mina? What do you do when you're nervous about something?

Mina: Ooh, someone has butterflies in her stomach?

Mina: Well when I'm waiting, I like to distract myself by doing things that are fun! I'll go shopping, dancing, watch something!

Tsu: Oh that's a good idea. Thank you Mina

Mina: Of course! Good luck tonight~!

Asui set her phone down and stared at her ceiling. She spent so much of her time taking care of her siblings that she didn't really know what kind of hobbies she enjoyed. She looked up a map of the UA campus to see if they had anything she was interested in. She made a few mental notes of places she could go in her free time (and a specific note of where the gym was so she could go with Midoriya sometime). When she saw that there was a pool, she decided to look up if it was open. When she found out that it was, she packed a bag and left the dorms rather discreetly, hoping that maybe going for a swim would help take her mind off the future.

… … …

Kaminari knocked on Midoriya's door and waited to be let in. He waited for a bit. Then he remembered that there was no way Midoriya could open that door for him. He announced that he was coming in and swung the door open, only to find Midoriya struggling to get out of bed and into his wheelchair. He was maybe halfway there before Kaminari helped him the rest of the way and wheeled him to his room.

They sat down and Midoriya rested his injured arm on Kaminari's desk, holding a pencil and slowly dropping his notebook down. He figured that he could write adequately as long as he took it slow. He flipped his notebook open to Kaminari's page, which was completely filled out already.

"Damn, dude! You wrote all this about me?" Kaminari smiled.

"Y-yes…" Midoriya started to feel self-conscious, "i-is that weird?"

"Nah man! That's really cool! Got anything on anyone else?"

Midoriya nodded and showed Kaminari some of the pages he had on their classmates. He didn't have everyone since he didn't know all of their quirks, but he had written an ungodly amount for all the quirks he did know. Kaminari snickered silently when they passed Asui's 6 pages.

They returned to his page and Midoriya began asking Kaminari questions about his quirk, and wrote down his responses.

"So here's what I'm thinking," Midoriya began sketching what he thought was a crude diagram, something that blew Kaminari away, and started labeling it. "I'm thinking you should have a battery. Something that you can charge to store and release electricity. I'm thinking we might be able to, maybe… double your current discharge?" Kaminari stepped back.

"D-double? That's a lot!" he exclaimed. "My current maximum is 1.3 million volts. Wouldn't I kill people with 2.6 million?!"

"Well no, actually," Midoriya looked at him, "voltage alone can't kill people. It's the current that's deadly. The human body can handle millions of volts as long as they pass through slowly. Of course, high amperage with a low voltage won't kill someone either, but it doesn't take much to short-circuit the nervous system if it's traveling fast enough…" Midoriya rambled on for a while about electricity while Kaminari pretended to understand.

"So what you're saying is that, if I can learn to control the flow of the electricity, I can be more lethal?" Kaminari concluded.

"Exactly! So you might want to be careful with how much you give it," Midoriya explained. "Do you have a multimeter anywhere?"

"I do!" Kaminari pulled out an electrical gauge from his desk drawer, "I usually use it to measure how many volts I'm discharging." He held it up to Midoriya.

"Perfect!" he replied, "You should be able to set it to measure amperage instead of voltage, so you can train your current." Kaminari nodded in response, shifting the dial on the device before stashing it away for later. Midoriya redirected him to the paper he was writing on. "So I think a battery will really help you. I'm also thinking that we add these contacts on your hero suit," he quickly drew up a small sketch of a round, flat object and showed it off, "so that you can use them to channel and control your electricity better when attacking. Which brings us to the main course," he returned to sketching something and didn't look up for some time.

"Oh wait…" Midoriya mumbled, "this is perfect. This is great!" he pulled away from the sketch to show Kaminari, grinning ear to ear. It was a picture of some gun-like structure with a pointed tip and round loops around the main carriage of the apparatus. The sketch featured circuit diagrams and some numbers and symbols that Kaminari couldn't even begin to understand, but he began smiling too. Midoriya started to explain what it was, "So this is a modified tesla coil with a modified tip that lets you fire lightning bolts in a huge wave up to, maybe 5 meters? It doesn't have fantastic range, but I'll get to that in a moment. So look, here is where you mount it to your arm and strap it in place. From there, you can grab the handle to provide the power for the gun to work. The more you put in, the farther the lightning will go. This dial on the side can control the current, so you can change from stunning someone to temporarily paralyzing them to full-on knocking them out. Nothing fatal, of course." Midoriya's nerd was showing in full.

Kaminari was impressed, "Holy crap dude! This is amazing! If I didn't already know, I'd think you were in the support course, being able to design things like this."

"Heheh, I've been studying a lot of support gear recently," Midoriya added sheepishly. He went on to explain the ranged shooting of the device, using a small metal pellet to be the guide to shoot a straight bolt of electricity from the gun to the pellet up to 50 meters. Kaminari was ecstatic.

"That's so dope, man! We gotta submit these to the costume department or something and see if I can get this gear!" Kaminari couldn't stop smiling. Midoriya was beside himself. He felt like a hero just by making Kaminari so happy. Midoriya ripped out the pages in his notebook relating to Kaminari and promised to help him with the costume change application. He then took his leave, his arms healed enough for him to push the wheels on his wheelchair.

He decided to take a nap until about 2:00, and woke up to a non-broken body. He gently stepped out of bed and did some stretches to make sure he didn't strain himself. Afterwards, he grabbed the wheelchair and began pushing it to Recovery Girl's office to return it.

About halfway across campus, someone caught his eye. A girl with green hair. He averted his eyes immediately, afraid that it was Asui. He was worried that talking with her today would be too awkward, knowing that they were confessing that night. "Wait…!" Midoriya had an epiphany, "…does that mean that she's showing up with the goal of confessing too? D-does that mean…?" he swung his head around to look at the girl he passed, and sure enough, he was met with Asui's large eyes staring back at him. His neck snapped forward immediately as his blush flared up intensely. "Shit shit shit shit she totally saw me! Uhhhhh… j-just act natural, I-I'm only taking this wheelchair back to Recovery Girl, nothing weird here, haha!" He returned the wheelchair and made a beeline for the gym, hoping that it would take his mind off things.

… … …

She left the pool locker room after changing out of her swimsuit and started on her way to the cafeteria, "Wow, 2:09? I was there for a while. But it was nice… I'm glad I found a nice hobby to just blow off steam. Maybe I can take Izuku some time and we can swim together! That would be fun." She pulled herself out of her thoughts to admire the lush greenery the campus sported, especially the lush, green mess of hair that was walking by on the other side of the walkway, maybe 7 meters away. She stopped dead in her tracks. "I-Izuku? He's looking well, especially for someone who broke all their bones yesterday. Looks like he's taking his wheelchair back. Should I go talk to him? No, not until tonight. Ah, but he looks awfully lonely, pushing that chair alone. I wish I could've gotten to push him around—"

He jerked his head around to face her before immediately jerking back. She could feel her face heat up as she continued to stand there, starstruck, "…wh-what just happened?! Did he see me? Uh-oh… why'd he turn around so quickly? It must be because he's nervous about tonight, right? That makes the most sense. He probably would've come over to talk to me if he wasn't thinking about tonight… it's good to know that he's anxious too…" she smiled as her blush faded and she kept on walking to the cafeteria.

… … …

"7:00, ok, breathe Izuku, breathe… ok, Uraraka said to go to the courtyard and wear something nice that wasn't just gym clothes… I wonder why she felt the need to specify?" Midoriya made his way through the common area in a casual dress shirt and slacks, jittering slightly. The students who were not informed on what was going on complimented Midoriya's outfit, which calmed him a little bit. He opened the door to the courtyard and stepped out.

There she was. He stepped outside to find one round table with a while tablecloth laid over. It had a vase sitting dead in the center, with a few small candles surrounding it to give more light to the dark outdoors. Asui was wearing a cute green sundress. Jirou stood by the table dressed up as a waitress, holding a round tray with a covering over it.

Uraraka appeared to pull Midoriya's chair out for him and push it in when he sat down. His eyes immediately met with hers as a gentle blush tinted both their cheeks. Jirou dramatically removed the tray covering to reveal two bowls of katsudon before handing a bowl to each of them. She had sent Hagakure out to spy on the two to figure out what kind of foods they liked as part of her grand plan, and grinned widely when she saw Midoriya's look of awe with how well-prepared the food was (courtesy of Satou, of course). She excused herself, wished them a happy meal, and left (to go watch them from the window inside, joined by Uraraka and Ashido).

Asui and Midoriya made idle chatter as they ate their meal. They shared a few laughs, talked about their days, and had a really good time. After the meal was over, Ashido came out with two gelatin desserts (Asui's favorite). They both enjoyed their deserts, and right as they finished, they both simultaneously received a text.

Mina: Tsu, tell him now!

Uraraka: Deku, tell her how you feel!

They both stood up and looked awkwardly at each other before breaking eye contact, blushing even more than before. Midoriya opened his mouth and forced the words choked up to come out.

"Tsuyu, I… I-I…" before he could finish, something caught their attention.

"DEEEEKKKKUUUUUU!" Bakugou came crashing through the courtyard door as he launched himself towards Midoriya with his quirk. Midoriya yelped and ducked, avoiding Bakugou, who was barreling towards him. Bakugou has stopped and approached Midoriya menacingly.

"How long?" he deadpanned.

"Wh-what? How long what?" Midoriya coughed.

"How long have you had that stupid ass quirk?"

"I-It manifested a few days before the entrance exam!" Midoriya panicked.

"Bullshit."

"I'm not lying, Kacchan…" Midoriya looked up at him. Bakugou stared into his green eyes as if searching for something. His expression softened as he seemingly found it, and his aggressive stance relaxed a bit.

"What the fuck…?" Bakugou was almost speechless. But not quite, "how the hell does some miscellaneous nerd like you get a quirk that fucking strong out of nowhere?!"

"This quirk has granted me the opportunity to pursue my dream," Midoriya said confidently, "and I'm going to make the most of what I've been given. I'm don't letting people walk all over me like I'm a subhuman, or some second-class citizen. I'm not a quirkless nobody anymore! I'm a hero! I'm gonna be a hero! And nobody can hold me back anymore!" By now he had his eyes clamped shut as his tears poured out of his eyes. Once he was done, he looked up at Bakugou. He seemed angry, but his expression suddenly softened, and Midoriya could swear that he saw the faintest traces of a smile on his face. Midoriya was struck with a nostalgic feeling as he was reminded of Bakugou's smile from when they were kids. It had been years since he saw Bakugou genuinely smile, as opposed to his usual sneer. His face went serious again and he began walking away, speaking over his shoulder.

"Alright shithead, so you aren't quirkless anymore. You better make the most of that power and control it or else you'll really be useless. Don't fucking waste it, understand?"

Midoriya sniffled a bit, "Yes Kacchan! I won't let you down!" And Bakugou went back inside.

Asui croaked quietly, seeing Midoriya suddenly release his breath and drop to his knees.

"K-Kacchan… I stood up to him and he didn't sound angry at all… a-almost… encouraging…" Midoriya started rocking back and forth gently as his mind struggled to process what just happened. Asui crouched down and wrapped her arms around him.

"Shh, ribbit… good job standing up to him," she whispered softly, "I'm proud of you." Upon hearing that, Midoriya stopped rocking and started bawling, clasping his hands around her and burying his face into her shoulder. She started rubbing his back before moving her hand up to his head and running her fingers through his soft hair. He calmed down and loosened his grip and eventually pulled away.

"Thank you, Tsuyu," he smiled, "thank you for being the best friend ever." He was too emotionally exhausted to bother trying to confess to her, and she saw that as well, so she decided to back off on the topic. They got up and returned inside.

"Sooooo…" Ashido greeted the pair, not suspiciously staring out the window with Jirou and Uraraka, "how was dinner?"

"It was fantastic!" Midoriya smiled gently. Asui nodded in agreement.

Ashido frowned slightly, "Nothing… y'know, interesting or life-changing happened out there?"

"That jelly was pretty life-changing, ribbit," Asui mused. Midoriya laughed with her for a bit before they began walking towards the rooms. "Oh, and thanks for planning all of this, Jirou!" she called as they left the room.

Ashido slumped against the wall, "We almost had 'em!" she complained, "Bakugou totally interfered! They would've done it if he didn't show up!"

Jirou sighed, "Yeah, so it didn't quite work. We almost did it though! We can probably work together on another plan, right?"

"Well school starts soon," Uraraka brought up, "and I don't think we'll have as much time to get involved in this… besides, it's their relationship anyway."

"Yeah…" Ashido and Jirou mumbled.

"I still wanna help them," Ashido smirked. The other two girls nodded, agreeing with her sentiment.

Meanwhile, the green-haired duo sat on Midoriya's bed together watching anime, gracious that they made it through the day.
