Greetings. You may not realize what this letter means at the moment, nor do I expect you to understand anytime soon. The weight of this message is far greater than anything you can carry on your shoulders, most definitely anything your seniors can carry as well.

Some call me the Chronicler, but for a time I was known as Ignitus. I took his role willingly, and I send this message to you, willingly.

Beware the creatures known as "Humans". They are far from what the bedtime stories describe them to be, and in the infinite knowledge of my library I have discovered a terrifying truth.

But first, what are "Humans"? Some call them bipedal hairless apes, nothing more than a slightly more intellectual cousin of the Apes themselves. Some call them Legends; a subject of ancient deeds passed on into myths, then twisted into cautionary tales and Legends to entertain the bored, children and any who listen. Some call them historical fact; A people that lived and loved many thousands of years ago, the first to tame the land and behold civilization, their ruins becoming the building blocks of our own cities.

In a sense, all of these things are true. They were indeed the very first to settle the Dragon Realms, before Dragons or even the Ancients themselves knew it by that name. They were also cousins of the now cursed Apes, having grown beyond that state of evolution and still recognizing their roots, having kept them around enough for the Apes to persist into the reign of Malefor. They are also the Legends that speak of them, heroes of ancient tales and great achievements, having slain great villains and saved fair maidens. Even those fair maidens were great heroes in their own right.

But, simultaneously, all of these things are false. In the library of the White Isles, there are books that describe the entire history of the Dragon Realms. From the first raindrop ever to fall on the land to a child hatched in the last hour, there is nothing but the bare, untainted truth in these pages. And in that truth there is the very last remnant of Humanity, of their great deeds and grand cities. And I find that truth is terrifyingly important in the face of what I suspect is about to happen.

So I will tell it to you, in it's bare, unsullied entirety. What exactly Humans were, and what they will prove themselves to have been in the future.

You must understand one thing; The Elements were not always the Dragon's to control, to master. There were many races with the gift the Ancients bestowed, including the Apes in their clever use of Crystals to support it. Humans... were the very first to wield the Elements, and they were the very first to unlock their true power. Looking back, the achievements of great Dragon Masters of the Elements pale in comparison to what an ordinary human could do with the same Element. Even more terrifying was a Human master of an Element, having pushed their power to a breaking point even Malefor himself I think would fear.

I apologize, I was lost in thought.

Humans, in their power, were a terrifying force to behold. If there is any creature that can come close to what many consider to be a God, it was Humanity. With Earth, they could raise great cities with as little effort as walking, and with Fire they could burn great swaths of forest in little more than moments. With Ice, they could freeze entire sections of the ocean and with Electricity they could call forth great storms of lightning that could turn sand to glass. If I understand correctly, they even had the Ability to master Shadow, Wind, Fear and Poison. And with those secondary Elements, they could do so much more.

I believe that when Humans found it necessary, they were the ones to move great mountains aside and to form great plains by burning down forests. I believe that they were the ones to form the Dragon Realms as we know them, left to grow and become what they are today. And if they were to return, I believe that they could single-handedly wipe out every race on the face of this World if they wanted to.

But, I also believe... That they would never do that. Humans were, if anything, a largely peaceful race. Any fighting they did was either to defend themselves or rescue their own, and infighting, while it was rare, was resolved either by a scorched patch on the World or via negotiations. Some of the records even claim that they nurtured the Apes, helped them become the intelligent and powerful army they were before Malefor cursed them. I find all of this... Utterly terrifying. Malefor's Dark Armies already scarred the world and nearly destroyed it, so what can Humans do in comparison? Could they restore the World to what it once was?

I do not know.

But... The records I have combed through revealed one thing to me.

There is one Human that still remains.

He is trapped in the northern most region of the Dragon Realms, even farther North than Dante's Freezer and near enough to the North pole that most navigation tools begin to fail. He is imprisoned in Ice, Ice strong enough to rival metals. He is still alive, kept that way by some curse that he had contracted in life. He is mostly nameless, having been stripped of who he was a very long time ago. But in the Language unique to Humans, he is called Iglis Unith.

I tell you this because... Because I like to believe that if another great threat comes to the Dragon Realms, he will rise to help us. Spyro was the one to save this World the last time, and nothing in this library points to his presence. We will need this Human when the time comes.

I send you this letter in the hopes that when you feel the time is right, you will go to him. If there is anything that can save us from a threat like or greater than Malefor, it is the very last Human. To anyone reading this, which I sincerely hope is a Guardian, I send you this in confidence that you will make the right decision.

- Sincerely,

The Chronicler, Ignitus
