Maureen dug through her closet looking for her leather jacket. Joanne was out of town and Maureen was bored. She decided to go over to Collins' apartment and cajole him into taking her out. He wasn't working today. As she was pawing though her stuff she came upon a piece of leather. As she uncovered the whole thing, she realized it was her best outfit ever: The Cat-suit. She smiled as she remembered.

It was 3 years before she met Mark and 5 years before she met Joanne. When she turned 18; when she was dating Roger.

It was their 1 year anniversary and Roger took her out to dinner. It was a romantic affair complete with candles, music, and red roses. All provided by Roger. As they sat there, at that small cramped table in a cheap hole-in-the-wall restaurant, Roger pulled out a rather large box covered in black and white striped paper with a bright pink bow in the middle. As she opened it up, her face light up in surprise and elation. It was a shiny, black, tight leather cat-suit.

One year later on their 2 year anniversary, she had just come home from a show. As she opened the door, she stopped in her tracks. There, on the couch, was Roger. Not just Roger, but Roger with a redhead. A redhead who had obviously worn the suit that was now crumpled on the floor. She grabbed all her stuff, including the suit and stormed out of the apartment.

Her smile faded as this part of her memory bubbled up towards the surface. She moved herself to her and Joanne's bed. As she sat down, she ran the material through her fingers.

Flashback to the night she met Mark. It was New Year's and she was waitressing. She and the rest of the waitresses had been allowed to dress up for the occasion. She had chosen to wear the cat-suit. She hated Roger, but loved the outfit and that was reason enough to wear it. It was about 10 min. to midnight and this blonde-haired guy had come in. He caught her eye immediately and she stopped what she was doing to stare at him. As she came over to him, midnight hit and she pulled him into a passionate kiss. They were together for 3 years.

She snapped back into reality as the phone rang. She as she was getting up to answer it, the person hung up. She shrugged and started to strip off her clothes and pulled on the cat-suit to see if it still fit. It did.

It was the night after some guy started hitting on her and she started to fight back and ended up breaking a few ribs. She was finishing a protest against department store clerks. The guy hopped on stage and began to feel her up. She fought back and he sued her. She was wearing the cat-suit when her new lawyer, Joanne showed up. Needless to say, she won her case and her new lover.

She threw her head down, shaking her brown curls and then brought her head up. She settled the black fuzzy cat ears on her head and added a coat of fire-engine red lipstick. She waltzed out of the building locking the door behind her and made her way to Collins' home. She was flying high, defying gravity as she moved down the street. She was wearing her lucky cat-suit. Something good was going to happen to day. It was the 3rd year she had been with Joanne.
