Power to the Pirates
Chapter 1: Following Dreams
By Son of the Specter 992
Sean was always the twerp of the family. He was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. All of them had special skills that after a while got them a high ranking part in a pirate crew. In their small town in the outskirts of Alibasta was known for being the birthplace of many pirates. Being the only one left at home, Sean would hear from his parents about the new heists, plots, and escapes from the navy that his siblings have been through and how they were so proud of them and scared for them.
His house had a wall covered with new wanted posters of his siblings. In Sean's room, there were only wanted posters of the members of his idols crew, Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, Ussop, Sanji, Chopper, and Roronoa Zolo. Every day he would train and hone his skills to someday follow Luffy in becoming a great pirate with a large sum of berries on his head. He would use his chores to train. Instead of taking his camel, he would run seven miles into town and back. While hanging up the laundry to dry, he would do a series of seven-hundred pull-ups and sit-ups.
He would do anything to surpass his brothers and siblings and they admired this and did anything they could to help. One year, his brother Hatile had come home after his captain had been captured and sentenced to three years in the naval prison. He was staying with his parents until his captain was freed and his crew was reassembled. He had brought Sean a sword and taught him how to use it.
Sean's best friend lived in town. They both shared the same dream of becoming great pirates. His name was Raman and was an amazing chef. He and Raman had become great friends and trained with their swords all of the time and Raman practiced his cooking with Sean's mother. They both planned on going out to see together.
One day when Sean ran into town, he met up with Raman. The had planned on shopping around for anything that they would need in their first voyage in three months. Raman had brought Sean to a store with exotic foods. Sean entered the store and was amazed. Inside the store was the largest array of fruit, fish, pots, and even various types of meat. As Raman shopped, Sean looked around the store and found two oddly colored fruit. One of them resembled a green guava with purple curves and spirals painted on it while the other one looked like a bunch of grapes on a vine, except for the fact that they were blue.
Sean took them up to the counter and asked what they were. The store owner held up the fruit and started to tell the tale of the cursed fruit.
"Those are cursed fruit. They are said to have been created by the devil himself to reward anyone strong enough to retrieve them from the grand line. They give power to anyone who is powerful enough to acquire one of them." She held up the fruit. "This is the flare-flare fruit, it allows the eater to create flames from their bodies and this is the glub-glub fruit. It allows whoever eats it to turn his body into everlasting water. I will sell them to you for 5,000 berries, but beware, if you eat them, they will take away your ability to swim."
Sean bought the fruit and went outside to wait for Raman. When he finally got outside, Sean gave him one of the fruit and told him to not eat it until the day that they start their voyage.
Three months passed quickly. The town provided a small ship for them to set off in. Sean and Raman got took their belongings, money, and clothing, got into their ship, and set sail for the first time.
Once they left Alibasta, they held up their cursed fruits and chowed down.
