Three years and eleven months after Day Three

Five months later

CTU Los Angeles, Los Angeles

"I can do that, but it'll take some time," Milo spoke. He was currently in a quiet corridor, talking to Nina and hoping that nobody got suspicious of him. Moments before, a guard had glanced at him with a curious look and that had only heightened his anxiety. Taking a deep breath as she hung up, he shoved his phone back into his pocket and made his way back to his workstation.

"Milo, have we got anything more on the Balfour case?" Michelle asked him almost as soon as he sat down.

"Not as far as I know," he replied, hoping that his face didn't show the nerves he was trying to calm.

Alex and Nina's car, Boston

Nina smiled to herself, pleased at how things were going. She was sure that Milo would not fail in what she felt was an easy task. Find out everything that CTU knew about Schulze. Of course, she had the skills to hack into the system herself and find out, but it was easier for her man on the inside to do it for her. One of the questions she most wanted to be answered was whether they had worked out a connection yet or not. Turning to Alex, she hoped his memory was as good as hers.

"Before the escape, did you ever hear anything about Schulze?"

Alex glanced at her. "I don't think so. If they knew anything, it was kept above my security clearance," he replied after a moment or two of thinking. He couldn't remember hearing the name anywhere before he met the man.

Nina nodded in response. Alex had been third in command, behind Michelle and Tony, so she doubted anything was being kept from him. Of course, he had told her about Jack's job being equal to Tony's, as well as the secret mission about the Salazars. "We'll have to see what my contact digs up," she told him.

As Alex turned into a parking lot, he glanced at Nina again. They were meeting someone soon enough but she hadn't given him much about the person. All he knew was that they wanted to meet the siblings. He doubted that they had any involvement in terrorism. Nina seemed too calm for that to be the case.

Tony and Michelle's house, Los Angeles

Unlike Michelle, Tony had the day off and he was spending it with their two children. He had always wanted to be a father and now he had two perfect little kids that he loved. Teri Paula and Jack George played in a paddling pool, whilst Tony sat on a lounger not too far from them. As he watched them, he thought of the plans that he and Michelle had been developing in recent months. They wanted to leave CTU behind and start their own private security business. It would of course take some time for any such plan to come to fruition, but they were okay with that. The only downside was continuing to work at CTU and potentially getting involved in yet another long and tragic day.

Park, Boston

Tiny compared to the sprawl of New York, Boston held a lot of memories for the siblings. Their father was from the city, his family having lived there for centuries since immigrating from England and Ireland. They had both been born in the city, although the family had moved to Chicago when they were little. Both had visited the city many times, but this was the first time in many years for either of them.

They had walked a short distance from the car and into a park, sitting down on a bench that gave them a good view of their surroundings. Nina was the first to notice the woman approaching them, knowing exactly who she was. The woman had been curious about them enough to seek out a meeting with the siblings. Nina had been thorough in checking her background before agreeing to it. Memories of that night in Mexico threatened to flood her mind, but she forced them back.

"Hello, I'm Jane Saunders," she spoke as she reached the pair, before holding out her hand. Shaking hands with them both, she took the time to look them both in the eyes before smiling. "I'm glad you're alive, Nina," she continued. She had heard plenty about Michael Amador and was glad that the man's greed had not claimed yet another victim. Whilst her father's death wasn't because of him, he had helped enable his revenge. The day her father died would forever be in the back of her mind.

Nina looked at her with an amused expression. "I heard you got to know Jack Bauer that day," she spoke. Most of the details were unknown to her, but she had a pretty good idea of what had happened.

"It wasn't pleasant, I hope I never have to go through anything like that again," Jane replied. Silence fell for a few moments as if the three were remembering their own experiences of that day.

"Are you both planning on running forever?"

"Depends on your definition of running," Alex replied. Whilst it wasn't exactly luxurious, he was starting to get used to the nomadic lifestyle. He had no intention of giving up, knowing that he would be spending the rest of his life in prison. Nina had even less choice in the matter and she didn't have to only worry about the authorities. At that moment in time, Jack was no threat, but that could all change.

"Do you ever regret it?"

Alex considered her question. Did he? Sometimes, sure, but he had done it to protect his sister. "Blood is thicker than water," was his reply.

Tony and Michelle's house, Los Angeles

Kicking off her shoes, Michelle wanted nothing more than to see her husband and her children. Almost as soon as she closed the front door, Tony had embraced her in a welcoming hug.

"I'm so glad it's Friday," she muttered as she rested her head against his chest. "Where are the kids?"

"They're sleeping, playing in the paddling pool all day tired them out," he replied as they pulled apart. He smiled as he gazed into her eyes. "How's your day been?"

"Hectic, but nothing you need to worry about," she replied before kissing him. Work could stay on the other side of the front door, now it was time for the three people she loved more than anything.
