WHAT IF DEKU WAS THE SON OF MIRKO?
Chapter 2
As Izuku was walking down the street towards his home, he suddenly heard multiple explosions in the distance.
"What!?" Izuku exclaimed. He snapped his head towards the sound.
"Is there already another villain attack!?" he pondered as he began to debate to himself whether to check it out or not. 'Hmmm well I guess it won't hurt to look. Plus, I might get to see some intense action!' as he came to a decision, he turned his whole body towards the direction of the explosions and dashed towards it while weaving through the alleyways and streets as if he were racing through a maze that he knew like the back of his hand.
Once Izuku neared the explosions, which grew louder as he approached, he could see a crowd of people and heroes including a small frail blonde man who looked like he was having inner turmoil but that isn't what caught Izuku's attention... it was a familiar grotesque smell emitting from the source of the commotion. Then he realized, it was the sludge monster!
'What!? But how did he escape All Might!? There's no way he could have just slipped out of the bottle, could he?' Izuku's mind was racing to different possibilities when suddenly another explosion snapped him out of his thoughts. He then realized that whoever was causing the explosions was probably not a hero but a victim that the sludge villain had captured due to the violent and uncoordinated attacks.
Izuku decided to slip through the crowd with his yellow hoodie still on, he grabbed the hood and pulled it over his ears. He squished himself through the crowd trying to get a better look, since he inherited his mother's genes, he wasn't very tall and he couldn't see over everyone's heads...
All Might stood there helplessly. He screwed up and kept cursing himself internally, telling himself that he was a failure as a hero and as the symbol of peace. All Might thought of the reason why things had ended up this way in the first place...
(The wind soared by as All Might glided in mid-air trying to get away from the public as fast as possible so he wouldn't be seen in his weak form. Unfortunately, due to him focusing on getting out of sight he put everything else as a second priority. This meant the bottle that All Might was currently carrying had managed to slip out of his pocket without him noticing due to the gushing wind around him.)
'Shit!' Bakugo cursed inside his mind. He wasn't going to let this stupid pile of puke kill him! He was going to live to become the number one hero! He hasn't even beaten Usagi yet! So, there was no way he would just stop struggling.
"Get the hell off me!" Bakugo shouted while releasing huge explosions from inside the sludge villain. He has only been able to tear his mouth away from the sludge a few times and by doing so he got to take a few breathes but each time they seemed to be getting shorter. He was slowly running out of air and if he stopped his explosions the sludge villain would be able to fully restrain his body, so he constantly let huge blasts off of his palms.
Earlier...
Bakugo and his goons were walking to go to the arcade, they all had their school uniforms which were black suits with collars that rose above their neckline that had a white rim around the top, it had golden colored buttons down the middle and every student wore a white collared shirt underneath. Bakugo never really considered them as friends seeing as they were just some extras that followed him everywhere and did what he told them to do. One of them was the same skinny kid from that day Usagi had beaten him for the first time. He looked pretty much the same although his brown hair was more grown out and sprouted outwards at the ends.
The other was a kid with dark hair that sprouted upwards in small curls and two short strands of hair fell over his forehead, his face was in a square shape but had no noticeable features that would make him stand out.
"Hey Bakugo, I'm surprised you didn't try and fight Usagi like you usually do. You never turn down a fight." the skinny brown hair kid said as he walked right behind Bakugo down an alleyway.
"Yeah, aren't you two like rivals or something? Why did you turn him down and decide to go to the arcade instead?" the dark hair kid questioned while also trailing behind Bakugo.
"Because I figure if I were to beat him, I should do it in front of everyone. I'll beat him in public and prove once and for all who the best of the two of us is while we are at U.A!" Bakugo replied. As they continued to talk, they did not notice the bottle of green sludge in their path.
"What! Where am I!?" the sludge villain said in a panicked tone as he started to think back on what happened.
"Oh yeah, I remember now! All Might was in town and he chased me into the sewers and then... that stupid bunny brat destroyed my liquid form and made me pass out!" the bottle of sludge said as his rage began to rise. The sludge villain was too far in thought, that he didn't notice the three boys walking closer to him until suddenly he felt a foot crash into him making him and the bottle fly towards the alleyway wall.
"So, what are you going to do when you finally beat Usagi Bakugo?" the brown-haired kid asked.
"Isn't it obvious! I'll rise to the top until I surpass All Might of course!" Bakugo said with a prideful grin as he turned towards the other two boys and pointed his right thumb towards his face. However, the other two boys were not giving him praise or even responding like he expected, instead, they had a look of fear on both of their faces as they looked in Bakugo's direction.
"What is it you extra's!?" Bakugo shouted in a mix of anger and confusion. The dark-haired boy slowly lifted his shaky right hand and pointed his index finger towards something behind Bakugo. Before Bakugo had time to turn around a voice loomed over Bakugo.
"That's a lofty goal kid. Just to let you know, I'll be rooting for you." said the mass wall of sludge that was rising in size over Bakugo from behind. Bakugo quickly spun around towards the direction of the voice as the other two boys ran screaming for their lives.
"WHAT THE HEL..." Bakugo was cut off as the sludge leaped on top of him.
Back to the present...
As Izuku pushed his way to the front, he could hear the civilians talking to each other.
"Why aren't the hero's doing anything?!"
"None of them have a compatible quirk to deal with the situation."
"There's also a student that's been taken hostage and with his powerful quirk the heroes can't get near him."
Izuku begins to put the puzzle pieces together as the cogs in his mind turn. 'A powerful explosive quirk... a student... it can't be right?' As Izuku got to the very front, his thoughts had been answered. There he saw trapped in the sludge villain's grasp was Bakugo Katsuki.
'Dammit!' Izuku cursed in his mind. He knew he couldn't jump in... without a plan that is. Despite not having a Hero License, he would rescue someone anyways, that's just the way he was, but he knew he couldn't just jump in blindly. In Izuku's mind, he began to formulate a plan while his ruby-red eyes shot from side to side to scan the area. He could see that they were in-between a narrow shopping center that was currently on fire due to Bakugo's quirk, the heroes were panicking not knowing what to do except to try and control the damage while waiting for another hero to arrive.
'Well, I can't use the same exact moves from before because it would take much longer to gain enough speed since the walls are farther apart this time. Plus, if I'm not careful I could break the already damaged buildings. I also can't just splatter that guy's eyes. That would ruin my chances of becoming a hero because they would think I'm some kind of savage, but then what would help me gain enough momentum to...' Izuku's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by another enormous blast from Bakugo's palms.
Izuku looked towards Bakugo and started to have a flashback of the first time he beat him. The moment he had used his first own move all though it was similar to his mother's Lunar Fall. He smirked now that he had a plan, he would put it into motion.
Izuku leaped over the police barricade and slammed both of his feet into the ground the moment he made it over to boost his speed.
"Hey! Get back here!" a policeman yelled.
"It's too dangerous!" a pro-hero yelled.
But Izuku completely ignored any noises he heard and instead focused on executing his plan. 'First, blind the target temporarily' Izuku said in his mind.
"Who the hell!?" the slime villain shouted. But before he could do anything the rapidly approaching hooded figure leaped off the ground a few feet into the air and implanted each foot into each of the sludge villain's eyes.
"Aaaaah! Dam you!" the sludge villain screamed as he begins to thrash around blindly.
Izuku had barely put any effort into that attack because he did not want to permanently injure the villain, since he still didn't have his hero license but he still put enough force to launch himself back off of the sludge villain's eyes to get out of range from the sludge villain's wild thrashing. 'Second, rescue the victim.' as Izuku said this within his mind he jumped in front of the sludge villain who still couldn't see.
"Usagi!? What the hell are you doing here!?" Bakugo shouted after he got his face free of the muck once more. Izuku didn't answer and instead pushed off the ground hard enough to make the concrete below him crack from his takeoff. Izuku darted straight through the sludge and grabbed Bakugo on his way out.
After he had tackled Bakugo out of the sludge he set him down. Bakugo coughed out a few pieces of the sludge and regained his normal breathing but before he got to say anything Usagi was already heading off towards the villain. 'Third, put out the fire.' Izuku said the third step inside his head.
"Lunar Ring! He shouted." he spun his legs in a spiral motion turning himself into a wheel that spun at crazy speeds while he barreled in a circle around the sludge villain. This action caused most of the fire to be extinguished from the wind that Izuku was emitting from his high speed. 'Well, that should do it, although it wasn't a full-powered one since I wasn't attacking anything. Now on to the fourth step... Build momentum.' Izuku stopped spinning and leaped onto the wall of a nearby building.
He kicked off of it with just enough force to get him across to the building on the other side of the street. 'This building seems sturdy enough for a full-powered jump.' he said in his mind as he began to jump slightly again and again as if he were on a trampoline. After he was satisfied, he did one smaller jump before landing back onto the building and bending his legs in as far as they could go while bending his arms to his sides, a split-second past before he launched himself into the air soaring high up into the sky.
Once Izuku was at the highest point of his jump he adjusted his body to be aerodynamic and gain even more speed on his way down.
"Fifth, splatter that fucker." Izuku said as a predatorial smile stretched across his face. He then began his descent as he stretched out his right leg and yelled.
"LUUUNAAARRR FAAALLLL!"
As Izuku fell, the wind pushing upwards on his body pushed his hood off and exposed his elongated bunny ears that flapped in the wind.
The sludge villain regained his vision but his eyes were almost completely red instead of the normal yellow tint.
"Where the hell is that bastard!" the villain shouted in rage, but then he heard someone shouting something above him and he instantly turned towards the voice, the hooded figure's face was revealed and when it was the villain shuttered in fear as he recognized it as the kid who beat him from earlier and he was showing the same smile he did earlier when he defeated him.
"Noooo!" he yelled as he tried to escape the attack, but it was already too late. The speed Izuku's body was descending at was making the air recoil around him revealing the intense resistance that was trying to slow Izuku's descent.
Izuku made an impact into the slime villain's body like a rocket trying to destroy its target. He barreled through all the sludge-like it wasn't even there and his right foot implanted deep into the ground until his leg was halfway buried into the concrete. The wind pressure extinguished any remaining flames and caused everyone to braise for impact as the wind pushed everyone back. The slime exploded into even more pieces this time, knocking the villain out instantly.
Everyone was completely shocked, they stood there with their mouths gaped open, even All Might. Then everyone cheered with screams of amazement and joy. They just witnessed an amazing feat and wouldn't forget it any time soon.
Izuku pulled his right leg out of the ground and looked at his bare leg. The amount of force he applied had made his right pant leg rip off into shreds as well as his right shoe.
"Awww man... that was my favorite pair..." Izuku said as he rubbed the back of his head in disappointment.
"Wow, kid that was amazing!"
"Yeah. Your quirk is incredible!"
"Do you wanna become my sidekick when you're older?!"
"Wait aren't you Mirkos kid?"
"Huh!?" Izuku said as he then just realized that his hood was off and he was showing his face to the public.
"Aah... Oh no." Izuku said right before a bunch of school girls pushed past the heroes and started to crowd him.
"His ears are so cute!" One girl piped up as she looked like she had sparkles in her eyes.
"He's so built!" blurted out another girl while staring at his muscular exposed right leg.
"C-can I have your autograph!?" another one shouted while lightly blushing and thrusting her arms forward with a notebook and pen in her hand.
Izuku was now irritated, he had kept his ears hidden so that this wouldn't happen, after all, most girls loved cute things and bunnies were in the top ten when it came to cuteness.
"Awwww! He even has a fluffy tail!" another girl said after she had lifted up the back of his hoodie.
"Hey! Don't touch my stuff dammit!" Izuku said as he whipped his head around to the girl who lifted up his hoodie and snarled.
"Oh, he's a feisty little rabbit!" one girl said as she reached for his ears to feel them.
Izuku had enough and once he felt a hand touch his ear it made him angry. His hair stood up and he begins to grind his teeth. The girls started to back up as they had a feeling of fear rush over them when he started emitting killing intent. He had learned this from his mom to use against villains to intimidate them or to use it in these types of situations. Since his mom had the same quirk and similar attractiveness, she also had a lot of admirers who would crowd her sometimes when she was younger though they were mostly males with their teenage hormones.
"Dammit Usagi!" a familiar voice came from behind him. Bakugo was stomping towards him with fury in his eyes.
"I didn't need your help!" the blonde shouted.
"Oh yeah, it sure looked like you had everything handled, my mistake." Izuku said with a fake apologetic face.
"You want to say that again to me you dam shorty!" Bakugo yelled with rage in his eyes while his hands popped with tiny explosions.
"Alright, alright that's enough." said Death Arms as he came in-between them.
"Listen kid what you did was amazing but it was still dangerous. You should let the pros handle it next time." Death Arms said as he turned towards Izuku.
"Tch, yeah I guess I should've let him die." Izuku said in a sarcastic tone.
"What did you say kid!? You may be the son of the number 3 hero but you should still show some respect!" Death Arms said letting his anger get to him.
"I only stated the truth. If I wasn't here then he would've died." Izuku snapped back.
Before Death Arms could reply a hand landed on his shoulder.
"I'd say that's enough. I think we should let the kid go. He's right after all." All Might said in his buff form.
"ALL MIGHT!" everyone shouted in surprise wondering where he came from. All Might just gave his big booming laugh to all the surprised gasps. All Might then turned to Izuku.
"Young man, what you showed today was true heroism! You saved the other boy while everyone else stood and watched! Not only that but you even displayed an amazing amount of skill and tactical thinking that's even beyond an average pro! I'm sure your mom will be proud!" All Might said with a wide grin. The paparazzi begin to surround All Might, Izuku and Bakugo but Izuku decided to leave because anymore flashing cameras and he might go blind.
As he was walking down through a quiet neighborhood with concrete and brick walls he was lost in thought. 'Dam why do heroes like that exist? If they had only used their brains to formulate a plan on how to properly utilize their quirks, they could have figured out a way to save him on their own. This is why..." Izuku grips the straps of his backpack as he squinted his eyes and gritted his teeth 'I'll work alone.' right when Izuku finished his thought a tall muscular figure skidded to a halt in front of him.
"I AM HERE!" All Might says as he flexes and gives a wide smile.
"All Might!? But weren't you getting interviewed or something?" Izuku said with surprise.
"AHAAHAAHAA! I have more important things to do than interviews!" All Might said with his signature laugh.
"I need to have a chat with you young man!" All might says with his smile widening.
"What do you want to talk about?" Izuku questioned while tilting his head in confusion, wondering why the symbol of peace would just race after him.
"Well, you se.." All Might tries to explain but is cut off when he reverts back to his weak form and spits out blood.
...
A breeze blows by in the awkward silence and Izuku is just standing there with a very confused expression.
"WHAT! WHAT THE HELL! YOU... YOU TURNED INTO A STICKMAN!" Izuku yelled while pointing his right index finger at All Might.
"Bahahah!" All Might laughed at the reaction before once again blood rushed out of his mouth. After wiping the blood from his mouth and changing his expression to be more serious he began to explain.
"Well, you see..." All Might then lifts up his shirt to expose a nasty scar on his upper left abdomen.
"I lost my stomach as well as half of my entire respiratory system during a nasty fight 5 years ago. I have only been able to hold my form for about 3 hours a day since then and I keep getting weaker." All Might says in a saddened tone but then continues.
"That's why I must rely on the future generation of heroes. I won't always be here to stand as this world's symbol of peace forever as much as I would like to."
"But what's the reason you chased after me? Surely, it's not just to tell me how much responsibility I have to be a future hero is it?" Izuku questioned All Might.
"No, it isn't. It's for a much bigger reason. My quirk is called One for All. It is a special quirk that has been passed down from generation to generation. With each new generation, it's passed down to it gets stronger." All Might explains.
"So, what does that have to do with me? Wait, don't tell me..." Izuku questions but then immediately starts to put the puzzle together.
"Yes, I have chosen you as my successor if you are willing. It will grant you unimaginable power with your quirk and it seems like your body is already fit enough to take on that power. You reacted and risked your life even as I sat there and watched. I deem you more than worthy to inherit my quirk." All Might says with a wide smile as he walks up to Izuku and reaches out his hand.
"So, what do you say Izu..." All Might tries to finish but is interrupted.
"NO WAY!" Izuku yells and shuts down All Might immediately.
"Huh?!" All Might is taken back by this and almost stumbles back from the teen's response.
"But... are you sure? This power is more than enough to get you to be the number one hero... and you'll be able to protect everyone." All Might questions and tries to reason with Izuku.
"I don't care. I don't take hand-me-downs. I would rather use my own power to reach the top. Plus, what kind of hero would I be if I weren't able to protect people with my own power. Taking someone else's power sounds like cheating. I suggest you find someone else." Izuku stated leaving All Might completely stunned.
"Wow you're really full of surprises kid. I'm sure you'll become a top hero without my assistance." All Might smiles as he recomposes himself.
"Do you plan on going to U.A.?" All Might asks.
"Yeah, I do." Izuku says with a proud smile.
"I'm guessing you're taking the regular test instead of a recommendation though, right?" All Might says although he already thinks he knows the answer.
"Yeah of course! My mother would never give me a recommendation since I really wouldn't be earning my place there in her eyes if I did, plus even if she did give me one, I wouldn't take it because I agree with her." Izuku explains his reasoning.
'Jeez, just what are you teaching this kid Mirko?' All Might thinks to himself as he sweat drops by remembering just how aggressive she is or at least he heard that's how she was from other heroes.
"Well, young Usagiyama. Do you mind if I train you for the next 10 months until the entrance exam?" All Might asks.
"Sure, I could always use a little extra training and call me Usagi. It's much easier to say." Izuku replies with a wide grin.
"Well, young Usagi. I will watch your career with great interest! We will meet at Takoba beach this Saturday at 10 a.m. to begin your training!" All Might said as he turned around and began to walk away.
"Of course!" shouted Izuku back to him.
"Oh, and one more thing." All Might said as he stopped walking for a second and turns his head towards Izuku.
"Yeah, All Might?" Izuku asked.
"If you find someone worthy of One for All, then tell me right away! My former sidekick Nighteye has his own candidate and he sounds promising but I would like to expand my search." All Might explains to Izuku who just nods to All Might. All Might grins and then proceeds to walk away once again.
'Welp I better get home before it gets too dark' Izuku tells himself as he starts back on his path towards his apartment.
He reaches his apartment building and begins to walk up the steps. His apartment is just a standard bland-looking concrete building with green doors side by side marking where each room is at. There weren't many trees around since it was in the city so most of the area was made up of sidewalks and roads. Izuku turned his key and opened the door, then closed and locked it behind him. It was one hell of a day and Izuku just wanted to take his clothes off, work out then take a shower, and go to sleep. As he was taking his shoe off, he had the eerie feeling of being watched. He immediately got into a fighting stance while his ears went to work turning side to side trying to detect any movement or breathing, but there were no noises at all.
He sniffed the air to try and detect any unfamiliar scents but there were none. Carefully Izuku went to flip the light switch while still being prepared for anything, but before he could turn on the light something flung at him with high speeds. He immediately blocked with his shin by raising his left leg up. The impact pushed Izuku back a few feet almost making him slide into the door but he kept his balance. He let his leg down but this time was even more on guard. The figure came at him again this time towards his head instead of his stomach and so he rolled his head out of the way with a swift and fluent motion while countering with a right punch but his own attack was blocked as well by a hand.
The hand gripped his fist and pulled his arm to try and throw him off balance but Izuku reacted fast and immediately grabbed the arm that had grabbed his right fist and pulled them back. The figure took advantage of this and used the momentum to throw themselves at the door. Once they collided with the door, they leaped off of it towards Izuku. Izuku ducked and dodged the first attack but while the figure was still in the air, they had rotated their body and landed a kick to the back of Izuku's head.
"Augh!" Izuku said in pain, catching himself right before he face-planted into the floor. He pushed himself off of the floor and while still in the air he turned his body back towards the figure before landing back on his feet. But before he could even do anything the figure was back to swinging their fists. Izuku concentrated on dodging each blow while blocking a few by pushing their arm away with perfect timing. The figure was consistent and ruthless with each punch. Then a left kick was aimed in his direction so Izuku countered with his own right kick. Both of them managed to dodge each other's attacks as they both had leaned back to avoid it.
Both of them locked their legs on to each other so neither could escape and then it was a constant barrage of fists swinging and being countered until the figure decided they had enough and decided to grip Izuku's leg that was holding onto their leg with both of their legs and use their body motion to spin which made Izuku's other leg loose balance and spin with them. Izuku then hit the floor hard on his chest but he wasn't going to give in that easily. Izuku used his arms with great effort to lift himself and the figure who was still restraining his legs into the air with a handstand. He then flung his lower half backward to slam the figure into the floor. The figure realized his goal and immediately let go while backing off a few steps into the darkness. With his lower half free, he let his feet hit the ground and immediately stood back up by using his momentum to lift his upper body into a standing position.
He got into a fighting stance again but this time he started hopping off his feet a tiny bit almost like a boxer would and on his face was a big toothy smile. The figure jumped out of the darkness again with a flying kick. Izuku dodged this by swiftly moving to the right, he then aimed a punch at the figure's side while they were still in mid-air with their flying kick. But the figure just moves its flexible body to bend out of the way from the punch and grabs hold of his arm. Then in a flash Izuku was pulled in, flipped over, and restrained on the ground.
"Augh! Alright! Alright! I give mom!" Izuku said while turning his neck around to face the figure and gave her droopy ears with adorable puppy-like eyes. The figure got off of him releasing their restraint. Then walked over and turned on the lights to the living room.
"It looks like you haven't been slacking off in your training while I've been gone." Mirko said with an evil grin on her face. She was older, she was 35 years old although she retained her youthful look since she still appeared to look like she was in her mid-twenties. She was wearing a plain white long-sleeved shirt with matching white P.J. pants and on her feet were white bunny slippers.
"Of course, I haven't!" Izuku said defensively as he got back to his feet.
"Oh, and I saw what happened on the news." Mirko said as she walked over to Izuku and patted him on the head.
"This is for doing a good job on handling the situation." Mirko said.
"Aah, thanks mo.." Izuku answered before he got cut off by a fist hitting him down on his head.
"And that is for worrying me, you twerp! Jeez, you really are too much like me; you don't know when not to fight! Hahahah!" She laughed as Izuku hissed at her while holding his head in pain.
"Y-You would've done the same if you were me! Plus, you taught me everything I know! So, there's no need to worry because I know how to handle myself!" Izuku protested while still rubbing his head.
Rumi walked over to Izuku and embraced him in a hug.
"Listen, I know you can take care of yourself just fine, but always remember that you're not a pro hero yet and so you can't risk your life by taking the villain head-on just to satisfy your itch to fight, understand?" Rumi said while still holding Izuku with a stern but soft voice that would freak anyone out by hearing her talk in that tone except for Izuku since he's the only one who has ever heard it.
"Alright, mom." Izuku says in reply.
