Four years and eight months after Day Three

Two months later

Three days before Day Six

Warehouse, Oakland

Alex yawned as he sat down on a crate. "I'm glad this is almost all over," he spoke as he glanced over at Nina. The once empty space was now more like a storeroom, albeit a very dark one due to the lack of electricity. Schulze would take care of that once they had left.

Their part in setting things up was all but complete and both of them wanted nothing more than to leave. A few days before, CTU had captured one of Sean's men and the news had not been well-received. As far as they knew, he had remained silent but Nina's contact had been unable to confirm or deny anything.

"Yeah, me too," Nina replied. She reminded herself to call Milo again and see if he had been able to find out something. Whilst she understood that CTU would be keeping the loop tight, there had to be some way for information to leak, although Milo being further down the chain than she had been made that harder.

"What's next?" Alex asked. He knew that they would be heading out of the country unless Schulze decided he needed them to stay. They had been back in the States too much and for too long, and his worry was that they had pushed their luck too far.

Nina looked over at him and smiled. "I'm not sure, but it'll be better than this," she replied. It had to be, the job was boring and the closeness to LA had only made things stressful.

CTU Los Angeles, Los Angeles

Alex was right to worry, as a group of agents were busy in the conference room. Sean's man had broken and now CTU knew exactly where the siblings were.

"We should send in a tac team and take them out," an energised Tony suggested. He was full of determination not to let this chance slip away.

"Shouldn't we try and take them alive?" Chloe asked. She was sure that the siblings would have plenty of information useful to the agency. Of course, she understood the strong feelings many of her colleagues felt about the pair.

"What about Jack, shouldn't we let him know?" Michelle asked and the room fell silent. If anyone deserved to know about the planned raid, it was him. Many at CTU had suffered because of the Myers' siblings, but Jack had lost the most because of them.

"It would be best to wait until we get a result," Bill spoke, not wanting to get Jack Bauer's hopes up for nothing.

Tony nodded. "I agree," he replied. He knew that there had been few chances like this. The latest had been after the incident involving Esteban Salazar. The first had been a few months after the escape when a CIA operative had been in Germany. He had been monitoring the siblings in Munich, but they had slipped away from him.

Outside in the bullpen, Milo was wondering what the conversation was about. He had a strong suspicion that it was about the Myers siblings, but couldn't decide whether to call Nina or not. Glancing at his phone, he was about to pick it up before deciding that he would wait and see.

Myers' apartment, Oakland

They had returned to their apartment and now the siblings were enjoying a quiet evening. Nina was busy studying a map, muttering to herself as she planned their route out of California. Schulze had not given them any further instructions so they had free reign. For her, that meant getting out of the States at the earliest opportunity.

She smiled as she drew a pencil line on the map. "Canada," she confirmed to herself out loud. Yes, they would head north with the help of Sean and his men.

Alex looked over at her. "Canada?" He asked. It was a little too close to California for his liking, but then again it was outside of the US.

"Yeah, then on to Europe," Nina replied, her eyes still glued to the map. She had a contact in Vancouver who could get them off the continent within a day. "We'll leave in the morning, once everything's complete. Schulze will be sending some of his men to take over."

Alex nodded in response. He wondered if they would be going to Germany again, a country Nina loved. They had been there many times since the escape, but then again he felt that Nina would want to be cautious. Deciding not to dwell on it, he returned his attention to the book he was reading.

Nina's attention had moved over to a notepad as she wrote down the exact route they would take. It would involve a lot of driving, but it was the safest option. Planes were useful but expensive plus they were under far more scrutiny than a car on the highway.

CTU Los Angeles, Los Angeles

Most of the agents had filed out of the conference room, leaving Tony and Michelle alone. The latter was working on a laptop, whilst the former was deep in thought. It had now been almost five years since Alex had betrayed them and a decade since Nina had done the same. Both had done so without any warning, and he had experienced the aftermath each time. Nina's violent attempt to escape had cost Teri her life, leaving Jack and Kim without a wife and mother. Alex's betrayal had been far less violent but it had still hurt. His actions had released a terrorist from facing justice. Both of them had left behind friends and colleagues, many of whom were left wondering why.

Michelle looked up from her laptop and noticed how he was wallowing in his thoughts. "Hey, Tony," she spoke without gaining his attention. She repeated herself and this time he looked over at her. The look on his face suggested relief as she pulled him out of the whirlpool of bad memories.

"We'll get them," she told him.
